Artificial Superintelligence (A.S.I.) is a video game about developing an eponymous Artificial Superintelligence. Along the way the player must balance the interests and reputation with employees, investors, the government, and internet as they work on developing their AI product.
The game was developed by Brian Mueller for iOS devices. It released in 2017.
Tropes used in Artificial Superintelligence include:
- A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Carrot can ruin either the player character’s life, or humanity in many endings.
- Alternate History: Each Earth is a little different.
- In one event, a character complains it is hard to get H1B visas for coders from The Confederate States of America.
- In one Earth Myspace grows to 5 billion users and MySpace Tom is the richest man in the world.
- In another Earth the allies lost World War II, and World War III was fought in the 1960s.
- In yet another Firefly gets 15 good seasons.
- In another the Bowling Green Massacre really did happen, and wasn’t a misremembered event.
- Bad Boss: The player character can make decisions emblematic of this, such as ignoring laws that stop employees from working more than 100 hours a week.
- Bland-Name Product: Such as Chirper or Derpit.
- Brain Uploading: Possible to do this with a dead hobo.
- Computer Equals Tapedrive: In some universes a tape drive can be seen.
- Conspiracy Theorist: The character named "Conspiracy Theorist".
- Fictional Country: A few are featured in the game.
- Eurasia and Eastasia are names of foreign countries referenced in the game.
- Taured is mentioned as solace where an investor has a vacation home.
- The End of the World as We Know It: The game starts with the a universe where human civilization has just ended.
- The Government: One of the factions the player must manage their reputation with.
- The Multiverse: A world is selected from one of many.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: How the Carrot AI greets the player character at the start of the game.
- Our Demons Are Different: The player character can summon one to use as intern labor.
