- Bad Export for You: Outside of the fanmade translations, non-japanese speakers only got access to a rather poor English translation, at least compared to the fanmade ones.
- Loads and Loads of Writers: The series possess countless different artists all working on a single game.
- Rated "G" for Gangsta: Averted. Despite the series having amassed a quite significant following even outside of H-Games fans, most recent releases keep most, if not all the lewd aspects of the original.
- Shout-Out:
- Sara in her flashback looks like the classic Final Fantasy White Mage.
- The grassland song is Masami T's "Echo Beneath the Earth, Sound of the Grassland", itself a combined arrange of Touhou songs. Fitting, since both this game and Touhou are almost exclusively about Cute Monster Girls.
- The Nefertiti Lamia's look like four of the Tenchi Muyo! GXP characters.
- Lily's outfit is almost identical to adult Rydia's.
- The monsters in the Library are a reference to the Page Monsters in Final Fantasy V, which also appear in a huge library.
- Page 65537 also strongly resembles a pointy-eared, unsmiling version of Yomiko Readman.
- The Sphinx makes a blatant allusion (and parody) of the Six Orbs Quest from Dragon Quest III.
- Two-tailed Kitsune uses a clone jutsu similar to Naruto's.
- Alice says "Just who do you think I am?" often.
- The Goddess Sword and the three sages the King refers to is obviously a reference to The Legend of Zelda. This is Hilarious in Hindsight because in the Skyward Sword, the Goddess Sword becomes the Master Sword!
- The Gigant Weapon from the sequel can't be anything other than a shout out to Final Fantasy's optional superbosses.
- One of the villagers in the happy village wanders if she can use bees to attack, but immediately shrugs it off as being something out of "some kind of stupid game" and discards it shortly after.
- More were added by the translator to spice things up:
- The loli vampire exclaims: "I am the terror that flaps in the night!"
- "Urge to kill... rising..."
- The Wiki Rule: Hosted here
- Word of God: Several Q&As provided answers directly from the creators to the various plotholes of the series, alongside more silly questions.
