I normally don't do this since I have another trope in the workshop that was here earlier, but it seems that we populated the entries with many unique insights, toys and card games. Are we ready to launch with a grammar pass?

We also need a trope image. A simple one showing a toy with "LIMITED EDITION COLLECTOR'S SPECIAL" should get the job done.

The Berenstain Bears' Mad Mad Toy Craze pages might do the trick. Here are some examples:
Not ready to launch. There are too many supposed examples that boil down to "this character collects something", but the trope description is pretty clear that the trope is about how the things being collected inspire greed, rather than about the collectors.
Either the off-topic examples need to be pruned or the description needs to be changed.

That's a good question. My sleep-deprived brain is saying that might be too common to trope, but I am sleep-deprived at the moment so I don't trust myself to give a good answer.

I'm torn because there are a lot of cases in media when someone gets obsessed with a crane game or with collecting. But we can discuss tomorrow about making two or three separate tropes.

I created another workshop page with the crane game examples: Trope Workshop:Crane Game Gag. There are enough examples for a page -- five minimum-- so I think this may work, and I think Crane Game Gag works as a subtrope given it plays on the need for a product. Thoughts?

With no votes against, I'd say that's enough. I'll add "launch this trope" to my to-do list.

Community consensus was to use a Berenstain Bears image, with a noticeable minority suggesting we make a new image.
To separate the image picking from the vote to launch, I'm moving image picking over here. Where we left off, we were given:

I prefer the first one too in all honesty. My priority was giving some points of comparison.
Looks like we have clear consensus for the first image. Now someone who knows a bit more about the licensing of that image needs to upload it.
Agree. If necessary, I can draw or paint a copyright-friendly version of Collectible Cloney Babies over the weekend since I watercolor.

As long as we have the source URL and the name of the rights holder -- the Berenstains and/or whoever their publisher is -- Fair Use/Fair Dealing will be sufficient for licensing.
We do have the source URL from Random House, and the Berenstains plus HarperCollins (source: https://www.harpercollins.com/collections/books-series-berenstain-bears#:~:text=Books%20in%20series%20Berenstain%20Bears%20%E2%80%93%20HarperCollins. ) owns the series.
While I would prefer our own watercolour painting, the community has made one thing very clear: use the first image. That image has been uploaded and is now the page image (with appropriate licensing information, of course).
