After the last edit-fest prompted by my edit pass petition and the good work of native speakers who corrected my ESL grammar fails, I think that this article is good enough to launch. A good, if concise explanation of the trope, pointing to a lot of related tropes, sixteen examples, I think this proposal is ready to become an official trope.

(Now I'm realizing that we don't have an actual article about stripping and strippers in general as a trope, but that's a thing for another day and another proposal)

Paging the admins as standard procedure. @Labster @Looney Toons @GethN7 @Robkelk @QuestionableSanity @Derivative @SelfCloak

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

It looks good to me. Vote to launch.

Edit: "Strip clubs are barely portrayed accurately in US broadcast media," - I almost changed "barely" to "rarely" until I realized it's a pun.

GethN7 (talkcontribs)

go 4 it.

Umbire the Phantom (talkcontribs)

I say yes.

Far as an actual article about the art of stripping and its performers, perhaps "The Stripteaser" could be a candidate for a name?

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Agreed, this is ready to launch.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

I see five votes to launch. Swinging the champagne bottle...

BeesFan12 (talkcontribs)

Sure, go for it.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

Launched, including the Entry Pimping.

From the back of my head, I can mention as examples the Rise level on Persona 4, strip clubs on Grand Theft Auto, the Nickelback song "Next Contestant", Deadfall, that movie from where Nicolas Cage's giant "fuck" comes from, the movie I think is based on a stage play Closer, where in the movie version Natalie Portman character is temporarily a stripper, the Wolverine ending in Marvel vs Capcom 3.

I broke this rules a few times and I constantly trying to make amends with that, but a new page should always contain at least a dozen of examples. With your six examples plus this five I mentioned, it goes up to eleven.

Lequinni (talkcontribs)

Thanks for the examples you mentioned! I'll add the GTA and Rise examples as they are the ones I actually know (even if they border Bikini Barhood due to the game rating); if other people who knows the examples you are suggesting can add them I'll be eternally grateful - if nobody else can, I'll add them when I investigate them anyway.

I am less than updated on this camp; I was still under the impression that new tropes could be launched with only five examples. But the more the merrier, isn't how the saying goes?

From the Guidelines: "At least five examples (hopefully ten or more, though - the Mods won't launch their own trope candidates without at least ten), each one with context".

HLIAA14YOG (talkcontribs)

I know the guidelines, but what I'm talking about is gut instinct. Sure, some tropes are deeply associated with a period like Nineties Anti-Hero(what doesn't prevent examples who happened after), but I feel there is must be some universality to them, it's a thing a lot of people not only understand but used when writing stories. Rey Ayanami Expy by example, don't would even be a trope if it was not done so many times, and I think that applies to all tropes. Tropes are only tropes if a large number of writers used it.

Umbire the Phantom (talkcontribs)

...I'm not sure where you were going with this, but I doubt there'll be much "Too Rare to Trope" trouble in getting this launched - it's just a matter of if we can remember enough examples.
