The Whole Cast

A bunch of attractive scientists./cops. This is a CSI spin-off after all.

Mac Taylor

Retired Marine, Atonement Detective and 9/11 widower. He's the man in charge, though he occasionally has to deal with less than understanding higher-ups, for whom his Determinator personality can cause problems. His background is a mystery to most of his colleagues, even Stella, with whom he is close friends, but in the last few seasons it has been coming back to haunt him. He formerly dated Peyton, one of the medical examiners with a ridiculously bad British accent despite her actor actually being born in Britain. She has now left the show.

Stella Bonasera

Orphan, Mac's best friend

Danny Messer

Master of the Joisey Accent. He tends to be more emotional and intuitive than Mac, which has caused a great deal of tension between them, particularly first and second season

• Hair-Trigger Temper: It's gotten him into trouble a time or two.

Lindsay "Montana" Messer (formerly Monroe)

Wife of Danny. Back from on maternity leave in Montana.

• Big Eater: In "Food for Thought":

Lindsay: *gives Danny a Long List of food to pick up* Danny: *scoffs, starts to walk off, turns and gives her a look* Lindsay: I'm not pregnant, I'm just hungry.

• Mama Bear: Not a good idea to mess with Danny and Lucy.

Don Flack

Your basic NYC detective and resident Deadpan Snarker.

Sheldon Hawkes

Used to be one of the coroners, then joined the field team.

Sid Hammerback.

The Coroner, with a rather cool pair of glasses that split in the middle. Got rich with his pillow design, and is now probably the richest guy in the place.

• Secretly Wealthy (though that may be changing now, since anyone who isn't Jo and possibly Mac (the one who knows and the one who may or may not know) has to notice the piano in the morgue)

Adam Ross

Det. Angell

Recurring Fair Cop and former Flack romantic interest. (Note: IMDB and Wikipedia give two different first names, due to her being called Jennifer from 3.02 onwards and then suddenly becoming Jessica from 4.13 onwards. No explanation given.)Died in the 5th season finale from injuries sustained in a shoot-out

Aiden Burn

Previous Fair Cop who wound up fired for thinking of tampering with evidence in a serial rape case, then killed by the same perp. She somehow manages to leave behind evidence during the attack that helps the CSIs finally nail him

Jo Danville

Stella's replacement in Season Seven. Very attractive older woman, previously worked for the FBI. Her ex-husband still works there and pops in from time to time. Two kids, one Happily Adopted.

Peyton Driscolli

British-origin coroner/ME and Mac's girlfriend during season 3. Put on a Bus but returned once.

Reed Garret

Mac's stepson, mother is his late wife Claire. Blogger and journalism student

Recurring NYPD detective, mostly seen in the early seasons

Marty Pino

Former ME who turned out to be dirty and is now in prison
