Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is an anime based off of Cyberpunk 2077, and by extension the Cyberpunk tabletop role playing games.
It was made by Studio Trigger and released in 2022. It is available to stream on Netflix here.
Tropes used in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners include:
- Arm Cannon: Maine has one. It’s normally concealed, but can be deployed as needed.
- Advert-Overloaded Future: A holographic pillar of ads is visible in the very first scene.
- Battle Couple: Maine and Dorio form one.
- Bullet Time: Enabled by the Sandevistan implant.
- Bouncer: One stops Rebecca from entering the Afterlife bar.
- Combat Medic: Trauma Team are armed, not that it does much against a cyberpsycho.
- The Cracker: Kiwi and Lucy are both netrunners.
- Crapsack World: Night City has a lot of crime and societal problems.
- Cybernetics Eat Your Soul: Maine starts to loose it from his heavy amount of cyberware. He hurts Kiwi, knocking off part of her artificial head. He kills his love Dorio, then goes on a rampage.
- Cyberpunk: It's in the name.
- Cyborg: Common in the setting. Some characters have more cybernetic augmentations than others.
- Foregone Conclusion: The references to the group on Cyberpunk 2077 heavily imply a lot, if not all of them died.
- Drives Like Crazy: David really beats up the car when he tries driving it.
- Education Mama: Gloria undertakes dangerous work to get David into Arasaka Academy. He does get good grades, but he doesn’t fit in with his wealthy classmates.
- Electronic Eyes: Many of the eyes seen are artificial, such as on the Maelstormers.
- Extra Eyes: Faraday has three eyes vertically stacked on the right side of his face, but just one on his left.
- Future Slang: Such as Choom, Gonk, or Gangoon.
- Good Guy Bar: The Afterlife
- Guns Akimbo: Used by the cyberpsycho against MaxTac.
- I Don't Pay You to Think: Said by Faraday when talking to Maine.
- Improbable Piloting Skills: David is able to outrun two gang mooks on bikes thanks to his Sandevistan, despite not really knowing how to drive.
- Jerkass: Katsuo calls David after finding out his mother died from a car accident to disparage both of them.
- Ludicrous Gibs: Often happens when a character is killed.
- Made of Iron: The cyberpscyho in the intro is seemingly unaffected by the hail of police bullets. The MaxTac agents called in afterwards are also this, and take bulletfire at close range without flinching.
- Missing Mom: Gloria Martinez shortly after the start of the show.
- Ms. Fanservice: Lucy, that has a curvy body and wears a flattering default outfit.
- Power At a Price: Overuse of the Sandevistan is harmful to David.
- Really Dead Montage: The show shows David getting the call of his mother’s death, to visiting the hospital, to cremation in short order.
- Sentry Gun: One is hijacked by Kiwi in episode 7.
- Token Loli: Rebecca. Though she is a sympathetic character you are meant to root for, she is clearly at the fetishistic end of the trope since she exposes a lot of skin.
- Walking Spoiler: Adam Smasher appears on this series at its tail end, so it's impossible to talk about its role without spoiling a lot of things.
