A list of the bodyguards of Cao Cao who served the Wei Kingdom in the Dynasty Warriors series.
Dian Wei
"The Coming Evil"
"Come and face Dian Wei, if you dare!" |
Voiced by: Kazuya Nakai (Japanese), Beau Billingslea (English) |
Born: (Unknown)
Died: 197
Japanese spelling: Ten'i
Age: 27
Height: 6'5" (195cm)
One of Cao Cao's most loyal followers. He would do anything Cao Cao asks of him. He takes part in the Yellow Turban rebellion and the campaign against Dong Zhuo. He died defending Cao Cao's escape at Wan Castle. He is considered to be Cao Cao's personal and most dangerous bodyguard.
- An Axe to Grind - In DW2-5 and 7
- Epic Flail - In DW6, he wields a ball-and-chain.
- Bald of Awesome / Bald of Evil - His canon nickname is "The Coming Evil", afterall.
- Battle Butler
- Boisterous Bruiser - Japanese-wise, Dian Wei sounds much more boisterous, Hot-Blooded and joyful while being a badass bodyguard (in contrast to the more stoic, same-voiced Xiahou Dun). This is partially averted in the localization, where Billingslea tends to use a more deeper, scarier vocal emphasis on his "Coming Evil" persona. He's still Badass either way.
- Heroic Sacrifice - His Last Stand at Wan Castle allows Cao Cao to escape.
- Hidden Depths - His Musou Mode in DW6 establishes him as being a Gentle Giant underneath it all.
- The Juggernaut
- Names to Run Away From Really Fast - Just to restate, his completely canonical epithet is "The Coming Evil".
- Sensitive Guy and Manly Man - The Manly Man to Xu Zhu
- Super Strength - Even by Dynasty Warriors standards, this guy is a beast.
- Undying Loyalty - Very much so.
- Unstoppable Rage - At Wan Castle he takes on an entire army trying to kill Cao Cao.
- Also present in Warriors Orochi 3, when he sees some Oda soldiers killing some innocent villagers who took care of him.
Xu Zhu
"The Uncomplicated Warrior"
"Let's all go out there and do our best!" |
Voiced by: Takahiro Yoshimisu (Japanese), Doug Stone (English) |
Born: (Unknown)
Died: 230
Japanese spelling: Kyouchou
Age: 25
Height: 6'0 1/2" (184cm)
Xu Zhu serves as bodyguard to Cao Cao. Gigantic and strong, yet simple-minded and honest, Xu Zhu is referred to as "Tiger Fool" by his fellow men.
He is a gentle-hearted giant who is a uniquely jolly man in Wei. He's a gluttonous fellow and often cites being hungry in someway during conversations. Though he seems to possess a childish intellect, his respect for his lord's generosity and wit makes him a loyal subject.
- Anti-Villain
- Bare Your Midriff - In DW7 for some inconceivable reason.
- He probably just couldn't find anything that fit him.
- Battle Butler
- Big Eater - Somewhat lampshaded by Cao Pi in the first Warriors Orochi after recruiting him:
"We don't need ropes for him; just find him something to eat and he'll be happy". |
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass
- Drop the Hammer
- Gentle Giant - Unless you bother Cao Cao
- Psychopathic Manchild
- Reluctant Warrior - He really doesn't like fighting.
- Sensitive Guy and Manly Man - The Sensitive Guy to Dian Wei
- Simpleton Voice
- Stout Strength
- Ugly Cute
- Undying Loyalty - Between him and Dian Wei up there, you really shouldn't fuck with Cao Cao.
