Kamen Rider Stronger is the fifth Kamen Rider series.

Former football player Joh Shigeru's friend is captured and killed by the Black Satan group, which looks for athletes in prime physical condition to be changed into "kaijins"--monster humanoids.

Joh himself goes undercover and allows himself to be captured and altered, becoming the Electrict Human Stronger. When he is forced to pledge loyalty to Black Satan's Great Leader, he shows his true colors, calling himself Kamen Rider Stronger and escaping to seek out revenge against Black Satan for killing a friend of his. While escaping from their base, he rescues a woman who had been altered by Black Satan, but not brainwashed, Misaki Yuriko who became Electric Human Tackle, helping Stronger in his battle against the organization Black Satan.

Eventually, Black Satan falls before Stronger, but he ends up faced with the Delza army, composed by inhabitants of an underground kingdom. However, as it turns out, he wasn't the only one facing Delza's forces around the world...

Tropes used in Kamen Rider Stronger include:

• Achilles' Heel: Jou Shigeru, as Stronger, has electric and magnetic powers, easily beating most "kaijin" of Black Satan easily. However, later in the series, the "Kaizou Majins" (Remodeled demons) from the Delza Army appear, and they're completely immune to Stronger's electric and magnetic attacks in standard conditions, putting Stronger in a great disadvantage.
  • In addition, Black Satan's first great commander, Titan, was weak against... water.
  • The Kaizou Majin in general seemed to be actually hurt by Stronger's standard electric attacks if they were immersed in water.
• The Ace: Jou Shigeru is pretty much the prototype for Tendou Souji.
• Action Bomb: Tackle, poisoned and dying, losing alongside Stronger against the Delza Army troops, chooses to sacrifice herself to kill one of the commanders, Doctor Kate.
• Artificial Limbs: Jou has cybernetic arms that he always covers up with black gloves. And with good reason - Stronger can shake peoples' hands without electrocuting them, but Jou can't.
• Action Girl: Misaki Yuriko/Electro-Wave Human Tackle, obviously.
• Badass: Jou Shigeru, full stop.
• Blessed with Suck: The Charge Up form must have all it's energy expended, or else Stronger will explode.

• Calling Your Attacks
• Clip Show: The 7 Riders special that aired after the tv show's ending, reuniting the actors of the seven first Riders one last time.
• Coat Over the Shoulder - Jo's trademark.
• Continuity Nod: When Riders 1 and 2 show up to help Stronger late in the series, the music from their team-up battle scene is the same music from their team-up battle with V3 in his own series, now with added lyrics.
• The Chick: Misaki Yuriko, though she is more of a hero than Jou himself at times.
• Cursed with Awesome: He's a cyborg with the strength and power to take on all evildoers, but those gloves Jou always wears are insulated. (It's under this trope as it gives Jou a "handy" trick in human form, and he doesn't seem too worried by it.)
• Dangerous Forbidden Technique: Tackle's final attack Ultra Cyclone.
  • Although it is speculative if she could have survived using it in normal condition. It definitely costs her a great amount of energy, similar to V3's Reverse Double Typhoon.
• The Danza: Jou Shigeru, played by the late Shigeru Araki.
• The Drag Along: Tachibana Tobei unfortunately seemed to be reduced to this role for most of the series until Jou became less of a Jerkass after Tackle's death.
• Elemental Punch: The Den-Punch, and there's the Den-Kick, Den-Chop... Then he gets his Chou-Denshi (Super Electron) attacks.
• Fully-Absorbed Finale: Rider 1, 2, V3 and Riderman participate in Stronger's finale, which ties a certain plot thread left hanging around from their own series. The show's ending segment even includes the first Rider's and V3's openings playing alongside flashbacks of their series.
• Hey, It's That Guy!: Machiko Soga does the voice of Dr. Kate.
• Hour of Power: Stronger's Charge Up must expend all the extra energy within one minute. Which is more than enough time, anyway.
• In the Name of the Moon: See the top of the page. Almost always spoken by Stronger from higher ground, before leaping down to kick Black Satan ass. Done at least once while kicking Black Satan ass, in the style of a Jidaigeki.
• Large Ham: I AM KAMEN RIDER STRONGER!!!
• Lighter and Softer: When cast in comparison to Kamen Rider Amazon's High-Pressure Blood and Gorn, the hammy speeches and over-the-top attitude of Stronger is a significant refresher.
• The Man Behind the Man: The Great Leader reveals he was responsible for the Government of Darkness and Geddon.
• Names to Know in Anime: Ichirou Mizuki, Mitsuko Horie and Masato Shimon all do songs for the series.
• The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: General Shadow wants to defeat Stronger himself and cares little about anything else.
• Phlebotinum Rebel: Stronger gets himself rebuilt on purpose to get revenge on Black Satan for the death of a friend.
• Plucky Comic Relief: Tachibana Tobei, much to the chagrin of fans.
• Shock and Awe: His bread and butter.
• Sorting Algorithm of Evil: The enemies that Stronger faces keep getting more powerful throughout the series. Even an early villain was upgrade to justify his return.
• Super Mode: Charge Up form.
• Taking You with Me: Tackle kills Doctor Kate, a Kaizou Majin, alongside herself, using her own Suicide Attack.
  • Though it is presumed that Tackle could have survived using the Ultra Cyclone, if she wouldn't have been near death already.
• Villain Song: "Wahahaha! Terrorizing the Country"
• Villain Pedigree: The Delza Army's Kaizou Majin, altered demons, who replace Black Satan's Kaijins, altered humans, as the standard enemies in the second half of the show.
• Will They or Won't They?: Jou is in love with Yuriko, and she seems to feel the same, though they never tell each other.
  • And they never will.
• Women in Refrigerators: Tackle is killed late in the series, and her actress dies of cancer in the 80s, turning Tackle's death into Harsher in Hindsight. Her being officially considered not a true Rider but a mere sidekick only adds insult to injury. This is referenced in the Kamen Rider Spirits manga.
  • More like rectified: Spirits gives a better explanation for Tackle not being considered a Kamen Rider, saying that Jou and Tachibana felt she had done enough and wanted her to rest in peace as a normal woman, not a warrior.
    • Spirits‍'‍ take on the issue has its own Unfortunate Implications. In the series, after Tackle's death, when she sacrificed herself in battle to kill a foe that not even Stronger could match, while hiding the fact that she had been fatally poisoned, Shigeru, while leaving her grave, said "Yuriko... no, Tackle.", respecting her as a warrior even if not calling her a Kamen Rider. Meanwhile, in Spírits, Shigeru claims that she's just Yuriko and died as a normal woman.
    • More recently, the KR Decade short films raised the question of Tackle's rider status directly, and Tackle featured prominently in one of the Decade movies. The jury's still out, but there seems to be a swell of support for Tackle being given full Kamen Rider status posthumously. With the creation of KR Kivala, and Decade showing female riders in the Hibiki-verse, there may yet be hope for female Kamen Riders.
    • The change regarding Tackle makes sense in context. Yuriko is shown in all of the flashbacks to have been someone who loved Jou, but could never live a normal life with him because of Black Satan's reconstruction of them. Thus, by acknowledging Yuriko as a woman, Jou is giving her in death the one thing she couldn't have: her old life back. If anything, Jou was just respecting her wish.
