Magical Fun Time Now is a fanime that was posted in January 2012 on YouTube, with its final episode posted around early March the same year. Like most fanime it was made using MS Paint and centers around the Magical Girl idea.
The story is very typical indeed starting off with a school getting a new transfer student, the main character Yuki, who proceed to make friends with four other girls and then soon after a cat thing arrives and given them magical powers to be guardians of justice.
The complete series Episodes 1 through 4 (the finale) can all easily be found on YouTube.
Tropes used in Magical Fun Time Now include:
- And There Was Much Rejoicing – End of Episode 2 when the girls just stand around and laugh that they killed someone.
- Big Bad - the vague evil thing they are supposed to be fighting.
- Bishonen and Bishoujo – Toshi maybe and the five main girls.
- Blood Splattered Warrior – Episode 2 and 4.
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience – The main cast colors, and also good (white outfits) vs evil (the dark shadows), so very convenient.
- Cute and Psycho – Episode 2
- Darkest Hour – Episode 4.
- Dark Is Evil - the big bad and minions are depicted as big dark blobs.
- Despair Event Horizon / Gainax Ending– The finale, episode 4. Everyone dies and it seems like Yuki… turns evil? / We actually have no idea what happened here.
- Dumb Blond - Karu.
- I Ate What? / I'm a Humanitarian – Episode 3.
- I Fought the Law and the Law Won – Due to lack of Hero Insurance, end of Episode 1 to Episode 2.
- Kill'Em All – Episode 4. well, almost all.
- Left Hanging – So what ever did happen to that ‘tunnel’ they were supposedly digging?
- Limited Wardrobe – The magical girl outfits, the prison outfits, and the school uniforms.
- Magical Girl – Each of our five heroes!
- Mini-Dress of Power – Part of the heroes outfits!
- Montages – Episode 2 and Episode 3.
- Murder Is the Best Solution / No-Holds-Barred Beatdown – End of Episode 2 the girls murder a prison guard who overheard their plan to escape in a very brutal way.
- New Transfer Student - Yuki.
- Not So Different – Episode 4: Big Bad gives a speech, heroine questions herself, and a slap to face snaps her out of it; and back to our regularly scheduled good triumphs over evil.
- Present Day
- Shout-Out – Episode 2, Karu is reading Shojo Beat.
- Star-Crossed Lovers – Toshi and Yuki, prisoner and prison guard, oh the potential drama.
- Stock Footage – Transformation sequences and many other shots too.
- The Good Guys Always Win – Episode 4. Well they did defeat the Big Bad, but… almost everyone died, not a downer though since they weren’t very likeable… but were they even that ‘good’?
- What the Hell, Hero? – Episode 2 the five heroes commit murder and laugh about it.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair - Amiko.
