Should this have had an Example Sectionectomy?

8
Summary by Robkelk

Consensus is that it should not have had an Example Sectionectomy, other than the Real Life examples. Examples were recovered from the Wayback Machine and restored to the page.

This page came to ATT after it had undergone an Example Sectionectomy on TVT. It originally said "No examples", but the reason given discussed Real Life examples only and thus has been changed to "No Real Life Examples".

But that leaves out the fictional examples. Should they be restored? Assuming, of course, that they can be found in the Wayback Machine.

The examples can indeed be found on the Wayback Machine. They were removed at some point between January 10 and February 8, 2011, and the Wayback Machine has a snapshot of the page itself from January 8, 2011, and a copy of the source from two days later -- the example section of which I've grabbed and stashed in local text file for conversion if we want/need it.

I vote that we store if possible, and add other fictional examples. BoJack Horseman comes to mind.

I definitely agree on restoring it. To use a phrase that's become a favorite of mine, it's a victim of TV Tropes control-freakery for the sake of keeping everything positive.

GethN7 (talkcontribs)

Concur, restore the fictional stuff, seems harmless enough.

Okay, then. No promises how fast it'll be since it's a holiday weekend in the US and my wife's family has time-filling plans all the way through Monday afternoon, but at some point I will get started converting the TVT markup to MediaWiki.

GentlemensDame883 (talkcontribs)

I don't see an issue with bringing back fictional and in-universe examples.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Okay, I've finished converting the excised examples, including updating a lot of "right now this is happening" language. I'll put them into the page in a moment, and people can give them a more thorough onceover.
