Warcraft/Trivia
< Warcraft
- The America-based Russian monkeys behind the animated cutscenes of The Legend of Zelda CDI Games and I.M. Meen, Animation Magic, were some time later contracted to do the animation for the Warcraft spin-off Warcraft Adventures. Said game was later cancelled due to the popularity decline of adventure games at the time but still, there's no denying that of all people, Blizzard hired the staff responsible for some of the single most laughable scenes in video game history.
- But imagine the YouTube Poops that could've come out of that!
- Development Hell: The movie. Talk of an adaptation started in 2006, with the current release being a decade later. The plot flip-flopped between being about the First War to being set just prior to World of Warcraft (the reason cited being that the popularity of the franchise was from the MMO, not the RTS'). Sam Raimi was originally supposed to direct, but the project was put off so that Raimi could focus on other films. He eventually left, citing mismanagement on Blizzard's part who had vetoed most of his pre-production work. It was not until 2013 that the movie was finally Saved From Development Hell.
- Hey, It's That Voice!: Uther the Lightbringer is Deckard Cain and Tassadar! Maiev Shadowsong is Meryl from Metal Gear Solid! And many, many more!
- Illidan is Gaara (in a cutscene, at least; his VA in the game proer is Matthew Yang King, btw) and The Lich King is Astaroth!
- In the abandoned Warcraft Adventures, Clancy Brown would have been Thrall and Peter Cullen would have been Orgrim Doomhammer.
- Cullen also narrated some early trailers for World of Warcraft. Yes, Optimus Prime is telling you to play WoW.
- The Dryad is Charsi, and the Medic from StarCraft.
- Kel'Thuzad is voiced by Tracks and Cosmos (Michael McConnohie).
- The Prophet Medivh and the Druid of the Talon are voiced by Raziel from Legacy of Kain.
- Who also happens to voice Prowl, Sideswipe, Scrapper, and other Transformers.
- Shout-Out: It's Blizzard's tradition to put lots of Shout Outs in the form of the annoyed quotes.
Mortar Team: "Clearly, Tassadar has failed us. You must not" |
- Blizzard also likes using shoutouts for cheat codes, such as thereisnospoon, keysersoze, greedisgood and the aforementioned allyourbasearebelongtous.
- The final chapter in Frozen Throne's Undead campaign is called A Symphony of Frost and Flame.
- When a Mortar Team is constructed, their announcement line is "MORTAAAAAAAR KOOOOOOMBAAAAAT!"
- Two villagers called Robert and Tyler are seen boxing in the first mission of the undead campaign.
- And this isn't counting the countless pop culture references found throughout the games. It'd be too much work to list them all. Seriously, there's a ton, take our word for it.
