Squadmates

• Fan Nickname: For Garrus, Space Batman, considering his vigilante actions in ME 2.

• Hey, It's That Voice!:
  • Grunt has the same voice as Steve Blum's most famous character, Spike, only electronically pitched down about three semitones.
  • Someone went and gave Damsel biotics, didn't they? We're all doomed.
    • She was also a feline Jedi.
  • Miranda is Sarah Walker In Space! Chuck would be so proud.
  • Zaeed could be:
    • Ethan Rayne?
    • Serris?
    • Saul Karath?
    • Lord Harrowmont?
• Missing Trailer Scene: Despite most of the advertising focusing on them as such, Shepard never actually refers to the colonists (or anyone else) as "the lost" in the game.
• The Other Darrin: Mordin is the only major character in series to switch voice actor between games. Few notice difference.
• Relationship Voice Actor: Almost example, as Mark Meer (MaleShep) is married to Belinda Cornish, who voices Rana Thanoptis, the Asari scientist who shows up on Virmire and has a minor role in the next two games.
• What Could Have Been:
  • A cut sidequest in ME2 originally had Shepard forced to find some red sand for Jack, due the fact that Cerberus experimentation meant that red sand was the only thing that could help her sleep without levitating everything in the room.
  • Mordin was initially intended to be biotic. One correct choice for maintaining Biotic Barrier during suicide mission. Also, initially would have come into conflict with Grunt. The two have next to no problems with each other.
    • In-story: "Would have liked to run tests on the seashells."

• Hey, It's That Voice!: Legion, you sound like...
  • Albert Wesker!
  • No, it's the Geico Gecko!
  • Commandant Alexei!
• One of Us: Legion's a robo-Vin Diesel. Check out its Gamer Profile!
• What Could Have Been: All post-Horizon squadmates have hidden dialogue for earlier in the game, but Legion came off a bit worse than Tali, Thane or Samara.

NPCs

• Actor Allusion: EDI is voiced by Tricia Helfer, who played a sexy cylon (robot) in Battlestar Galactica. In Mass Effect 3 EDI gains a sexy robot body, further strengthening the allusion.
• Fan Nickname: There are some who call the Illusive Man... TIM.
• Hey, It's That Voice!:
  • In the Admiralty Board: Shoreh Aghdashloo, Martin Jarvis, Simon Templeman, and Claudia Black.
  • Jayne Cobb is there to keep the Geth off Tali's back.
    • Colonel John Casey In Space, in a suit! Morgan would be so proud!
  • Captain Bailey as Michael Hogan, well known as Colonel Tigh in Battlestar Galactica.
  • Tricia Helfer as EDI.
    • Oh God, Kerrigan's/Caprica Six in our ship!
  • Why, TIM, you're looking awfully Martin Sheen today.
    • President Bartlett wanting to ensure humanity's superiority is extreme Vocal Dissonance.
  • Seems like Alice De Raey has developed quite the taste for alien flesh as Kelly Chambers.
  • Aria is Carrie-Anne Moss.
  • Aethyta is Claudia Black, though it's probably harder to tell if you're comparing her to Daro'Xen. Probably because she doesn't use her native accent.
  • Gavin Archer is Simon Templeman (who also voiced Han'Gerrel vas Neema). Oh, and Loghain.
    • Don't forget the infamous time traveling bloodsucker, Kain.
  • Patriarch is voiced by Jim Cummings, aka Tigger!
• The Other Darrin: Jim Cummings is replaced as Urdnot Wreav's voice actor for the third game. It's not even known who voices Wreav. Oddly, this also comes with a change in design. In 2, he had a red crest (similar to Wrex) but in 3 he has a brown crest.
• Playing Against Type: The Illusive Man is a VERY different role than what Martin Sheen usually plays.
• Talking to Himself: Niftu Cal if you're playing Male Shepard.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Apparently, Ken was planned to be a 'light' (possibly Kelly Chambers-esque) romance early on in development.
  • The script leak included some information on Admiral Xen's post-Rannoch fate that doesn't seem to have made it into the final product. You could confront her directly, or learn about a botched hack attempt from Hackett.

Antagonists

  • Harbinger sounds like...
    • Oh shit, Kamal Rex has decided to help the Hierarchy out in the Mass Effect Universe, who needs a purifier when you got a ship of Collectors?
    • Also he is the incredible Magnificent Bastard Holtz
    • Also he voices a criminal warlord who is bribing Bailey.
    • He also had a nice conversation with The Joker about knives.
    • He is also Apollo Diomedes, Captain of the Blood Raven Honor Guard!
    • As well as Joshua Graham, the Burned Man.
  • The Shadow Broker is even more violent than Grunt!
