  • Ass Pull: Most of the second half of Episode 10. ThornBrain (Under "CSD", his wiki alias) admitted that the team "were making it up as they went along".
    • They did attempt to link up several previously unrelated parts of the first season in the process, but almost none of it was "planned" until after the release of Episode 9, thus making it eligible for this trope. See the Chekhov's Gag entry for the main exceptions in the episode.
  • Badass Decay: At some points, Giroro. Flashbacks makes him nauseous, and he is allergic to cats. Episode 17 also revealed that he never properly learned how to shoot a gun and never finished military training, evidenced by his failure to land a single shot on Garuru.
    • Zoruru, after only one scene. His first appearance has him kill Koyuki immediately following a Pre-Ass-Kicking One-Liner. His second appearance has him getting a disruptive Skype call from his mom, followed by excessive paranoia about how Natsumi must want to start dating him.
  • Non Sequitur Scene: Todd Sirkowski of Todd's Toilets flying by in a hot air balloon and immediately crashing/exploding. Three times. Eventually subverted when Aki shows up and hints that this thing has happened before.
    • Mint's Hints from Episode 8 was one until Tororo brought it back for Episode 17.
    • "Keroro Love Fighters, commencing attack!"
  • Complete Monster: Kululu as of Episode 12

"Begin the daily puppy torching!"

    • Possibly the platoon's superiors:

  • Crosses the Line Twice: The games Keroro and Giroro played with Zeroro.
  • Discredited Meme: Characters often say an alteration of an overdone meme ("It's over six") or just don't go all the way through with it (And now you know! [Beat] Yeah. Take That).
  • Fan Yay: Plenty of Ho Yay happens between writers Yoshi and Thorn, but a lot of it is perpetuated in no small part by the fans. They've recently started bringing BigTUnit1 into the "action" as well.
  • Fridge Brilliance: Put forward by guest writer BigTUnit1 - In Episode 2 Momoka attacks Tamama while trying (and failing) to sell the "make like a tree and leave" remark. Tamama later says to Momoka "We're not speaking again until trees start dying"; Travis suggests that Momoka was instead trying to say "Make like a tree and die".
  • Fridge Horror: After Kululu finally breaks out of the box in a snippet of dialogue in Episode 11, he later says "It feels like I've been raped in my sleep!". We know that Future Kululu was an evil bastard; how do we know that's something FK, or even Regular Kululu wouldn't do?
  • Funny Aneurysm Moment: In the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Abridged one-shot, a reference is made to Gary Coleman's infamous "Watchoo Talkin' 'Bout" catchphrase from Diff'rent Strokes. Coleman died shortly after the script was completed.
    • Hilarious in Hindsight: The writers made all of the characters defaulted to bisexual unless stated otherwise, and Giroro was also made a Wholesome Crossdresser. Writer ThornBrain came out during production of Episode 11 as a bisexual transvestite, which he was only starting to realize around the time Giroro was made a crossdresser.
    • In Episode 15 Fuyuki randomly says he no longer believes in God. The line, though otherwise unconnected, was written around the time of Christopher Hitchens' death.
  • Ho Yay: The series has made Keroro and Tamama a couple. Subverted after Episode 10, when it is discovered that Tamama is actually a girl.
    • Giroro and Dororo. Dororo actually hit on Giroro at the end of Episode 6, they have a semi-serious bit of bonding at the end of Episode 7, and they are noticeably closer friends by Episode 11. Then in the Post-Credits to Episode 14, Dororo asks Giroro to marry him. And then They Do get married in Episode 15. Giroro even says "We've been fucking behind your backs for months!"
  • Growing the Beard: The creators consider Episode 4 to be the point where everything in terms of writing and voicing starts to gel, be it due to the expulsion of previous redundant team members or simply the introduction of Dororo. Yoshi also didn't really pick up as a voice-actor until Episode 4.
  • Magnificent Bastard: Future Kululu.
  • Mind Screw: The end of Episode 8.
    • The climax of Episode 10.
  • Nightmare Retardant: Intentionally in Episode 10. While the Nightmare Fuel level of Future Kululu's scene is debatable, the sudden appearance of REM's "Shiny Happy People" video in the background is a signal to the viewer that things are going to get stupid.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Many Keroro Gunsou fans dislike Joriri and Pururu, but their SFA reinterpretations garnered a lot of praise from those same fans.
  • Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped: Episode 11's "It's okay to like both men and women".
  • They Just Didn't Care: The writers have no reverence for the original series' tropes, doing away with Keroro's and Kululu's laughs, the references to Gundams, and resonating.
  • Viewer Gender Confusion: In and out-of-series. Even Tamama didn't know she was a girl.
  • The Woobie: Dororo, especially as a child.
    • Lil' Pururu hints that her mother is a violent drunk.
