Should the Real Life section be removed. or should the request for no Real Life examples be removed? Why or why not?

Yeah, definitely. Too much potential for abuse.

Agreed. Outside of historical figures -- and even then that might be a case of surviving slander or Written by the Winners -- this is a page where a real life example is likely to be libelous, or at the very least embarrassing.

Possible to have historical examples, but even that would have to come with a heavy disclaimer, so probably not.

I think having historical examples isn't so bad, especially if you could pin down the source (and maybe try to determine what type of relationship the source has with the 'example'), but that standard may be too high to ask for.

Not even just too high, that'd be asking for a lot of research per trope entry - even if we could meet that standard (and I feel at least a few of us could), that begs the question of whether we would want to at this stage for the sake of constantly vetting potential gossip. On that basis, I lean towards "No RL".

And then we get into questions of notability - was this person famous enough to have enough written about him or her to be able to research the person's sex life - that All The Tropes by policy doesn't want to deal with. EDIT: And even if there is enough written, we get into questions of accuracy, which @Looney Toons mentioned above.

Better IMHO to not have the section at all.

To restate my position, I agree -- this is one case where getting rid of it serves us best.

On second thought, concur with LT, let's not take risks on this.

I think that everyone who has an opinion on this one has had a say now. Consensus (but no unanimity) is to remove the RL section and add the noreallife tag.
