Ready to launch?

So a while back I spruced up a lot of the mangled grammar that plagued this page, as well as spruced up the description. I've tinkered with it a bit more, so is it ready to be launched yet?

Kuma (talkcontribs)

Thank you again for your help and I would say that its ready for launch.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Yes, it's massively improved, it has well over the minimum number of examples, and is sufficiently categorized. I vote for launch.

Lequinni (talkcontribs)

Add another voting for launch here.

Umbire the Phantom (talkcontribs)

Per all, voting to launch.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Launching, then.

Kuma (talkcontribs)

Hello, I wish to request an edit pass for this page. There have been changes to the description to show the differences between Charm Person and proper changes to examples, thanks to Utini501's help. I apologize if this has disturbed any of you and if I have been rude in making this request. You can do this whenever you can, and I do not mean to rush any of you. Thank you for reading my post and have an awesome day. @Robkelk@GethN7@SelfCloak

Kuma (talkcontribs)

I would also want to know if it is launchable as well to nip that in the bud. Sorry for not mentioning it with my initial post and I also wish to involve the other staff on this if they possible. @Labster@QuestionableSanity@Derivative

How is this different from Smells Sexy?

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

I'm not seeing a difference.

Kuma (talkcontribs)

I am sorry if I have insulted or seems negative towards you. I am curious about your perspective on this to get a better understanding.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

No worries. I don't have a perspective, I was just asking whether this was a duplicate trope. It obviously is not a duplicate.

Kuma (talkcontribs)

Thank you, that gives me a large amount of relief.

Kuma (talkcontribs)

I didn't even hear about this other trope until today. Here is the description from Smells Sexy: This is the The Nose Knows version of Mr. Fanservice / Hello, Nurse! / Ms. Fanservice. It is the reason why humans invented perfume and cologne. A character with Super Senses will probably be attracted to a person by their smell, especially if they've got some doggish attributes. Both vampires and werewolves are likely to note that their victim/lover smells good.

From what I can tell it talks about how these pheromones makes a person attracted especially those with superhuman nose. The trope I wish to make uses the superpower of pheromones to be used that affects those around him that causes other affect beside some form of targeted attraction. I will use on of my example such as SPH from elDive where it is a power used by various alien species. The main character shares SPH with the symbiote Drew where it takes his emotions and materializes it into a form of attacked based on his economics experiences. Another character's SPH can come in a different form such as getting wings for flight and creating rings that can cut through aliens with ease.

There are examples that comes from Marvel comics like Jessica Drew aka Spiderwoman where she can secrete a pheromone that can cause a person to feel fear, attraction, or attraction on other people. Miranda Leevald or Stacy X can emit pheromones that affect bodily function like vomiting, orgasm, rectal problems, nausea and the like through skin contact. Lauri or Wallflower can generate an airborne pheromone that can cause a chemical imbalance that can lead to changing people's moods to match hers.

From what I could tell, I wanted to show the diverse effect of pheromone-based superpowers rather than making the person just attracted to one person. These examples doesn't follow Smells Sexy and they don't even sound sexy unless I am missing something.

There are other examples that show pheromones have different effects beside causing some form of attraction, that's just the common example for some reason.

Goo Monster (talkcontribs)

My understanding is that humans do have pheromones, but the only ones we have some understanding of is ones we emit when we are afraid. Also may be worth noting is the age humans adults have armpit hair (but I think that information might be too speculative to bother incorporating). That said, I wouldn't call what pheromones humans do have as "potent". But I thought the fear thing might be worth putting in the article description.

Kuma (talkcontribs)

Well there are examples used that show more than just causing fear and that one part that could be added for the description is to say that it affects organisms in divergent way depending on the pheromones.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

You know more than I do about this... 😀 Go ahead, but be prepared to defend the edit if somebody who knows less that I do decides to revert it.

Broadening the trope

Goo Monster (talkcontribs)

I was thinking it would be nice if we broadened this to cover influencing creatures that aren't people. Thoughts?

Kuma (talkcontribs)

Yes, there are examples where it involve monsters and aliens to use.
