Deadly Mistakes/Trivia

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Ascended Fanon: Kurgan Junior's real name; one person mentioned that they thought it might be Tina, and now Word of God has confirmed it.
  • Flip-Flop of God
    • Dorian's roleplayer said she wouldn't ship him with anyone. Enter Susan...
    • The above-mentioned roleplayer also briefly mentioned that she more than likely wouldn't ship Madigan with anyone either. That is, up until Bernie's roleplayer started having him show some interest in her (albeit in a non-romantic way) and Siren started shipping them.
      • Actually, that's not completely her fault. Bernie's own roleplayer wasn't entirely sure if she'd want to ship him with anyone either; Siren shipping them was just supposed to be another part of what Siren liked to do with others.
    • According to her roleplayer, Kurgan Junior was supposed to be younger than she looked by looking to be in her twenties when she was really a teenager. After going over her Backstory, one of the other roleplayers (the one who originally created the concept of KJ, in fact) pointed out that this wasn't possible because during the time that the roleplay was taking place, KJ would be twenty-six and thus it should be inverted into a case of her being older than she looked.
    • Thaddeus stated that he had fifteen rooms available for any visitors (he didn't count his own, of course), all of which ended up being occupied by the members of the group. Later on, Russel showed up and he ended up getting a room to himself without anyone moving out of any of their respectful rooms. After this was pointed out, Thaddeus' roleplayer said that he had more than fifteen rooms. Huh?!
      • To be fair, nobody specifically said that they were all occupied. Jezebel's/Ted's roleplayer revealed that they had been sharing a room all along without actually mentioning it before, so there probably was one room still available when Russel stopped by.
      • Word of God says that he was counting the number of people in need of rooms, but if that's case, he still screwed up because he miscounted who all needed rooms.
    • Wilson's roleplayer said that Wilson (and, to an extent, the roleplayer himself) didn't know how old Madigan was despite the fact that earlier he clearly indicated that his character knew Madigan from some time before the roleplay started and it's been confirmed that Madigan knew him from before, too. He also felt pressured to help Wilson grow into a more likable character considering his popularity among the entire group through giving him a love, but he Failed a Spot Check unfortunately.
    • Xun Li's roleplayer was not planning on pairing him off with Marianela Pistoles and mentioned having him do a Heel Face Turn, which would result in his death, after finding out the truth of what happened to his mother. But after an idea was discussed between his roleplayer, Marianela's roleplayer, and another roleplayer, the Heel Face Turn and his death will be kept in the second arc but will also have him falling in love with Marianela, which will result in a Downer Ending for Marianela that will be an homage to the ending of Cronenberg's The Fly, which the other roleplayer suggested.
  • Shrug of God
    • Not even Grover's creator knew his gender at first, nor did she know exactly how old he is. The latter still isn't quite known.
    • Siren has made it no secret that she ships Madigan/Bernie, but do Thaddeus and Mathew also ship them? Their roleplayer has hinted that they possibly might, but even he doesn't know the answer to this question.
      • Given that Mathew tried to help Dusk admit his feelings to Piper earlier and later he tried playing matchmaker with Augustin and Cass, he might really be shipping them. The jury's still out on Thaddeus, though.
    • Dorian's roleplayer has no idea how he was conceived or born, nor does she particularly want to think about it.
    • Madigan's roleplayer doesn't know why she Does Not Like Shoes; she just doesn't.
    • Rowan's roleplayer has no idea whether or not he's gay.
    • Kurgan Junior's roleplayer says that he'd never thought of what her real name might be.
      • To be fair, he didn't think that he would need to come up with one for her. Either way, she has now; Word of God says that it's Tina.
  • Talking to Themselves: Happens with nearly every roleplayer who has more than one character (which is nearly everyone). The following characters all have the same roleplayer (and have shown up...so far):
    • Piper, Dusk, Bernie and Siren.
    • Susan, Wilson, Eve, Matt, Serena and Kurgan Junior. The same person is also Roxy's roleplayer, but she was only mentioned toward the beginning before spontaneously disappearing.
    • Madigan, Rowan, Dorian, Zetta and (to a certain extent) Inochitori.
    • Jim, Delta and Salvation.
      • For a short amount of time, he also played Hammond, a retired general who knew about Salvation. Granted, Hammond isn't a main character, but given that he's pretty much the reason Salvation turned out to be a Complete Monster, he's worth mentioning.
    • Mathew, Thaddeus, Cass, Bogwick, Kyle, and Xavier. He's also Rey's roleplayer, but she hasn't met any of his other characters (yet).
      • He also plays Kyle's father, "Russel Nash"/Connor MacLeod, from time to time, as well as some other random minor characters (the most notable being Oak, a drug-dealer in New York City that Kyle knows).
    • Ellen "Newt" Junior and Brynja.
    • Augustin, Heather, Jezebel, and Ted. She also plays Ryker, but he hasn't met any of her other characters (yet).
    • Yuuka, Kainashi, Wren and Toby.
    • Fawn, Jennifer, Delon, Torque, Rachel, Qismah, Konrad, Kimiko, Faeton and Anurto.
      • She's also played Vriska, the mother of the twins (Faeton and Anurto).
    • Squawky is a special case because he has two role-players: the one that plays Mathew and the one that plays Augustin.
  • What Could Have Been
    • Literally any Mistake that either went unadopted or was abandonned (usually for a different one).
    • Originally, Ellen's roleplayer wanted her to find out about who her father was and what happened to him through a diary that her mother kept before and during the time she was pregnant, but dropped the idea in favor of a scrying session.
    • Dusk was originally supposed to be a girl, but still have all of the traits that he has now, including the crush on Piper. His roleplayer decided not to go with the idea given that the name sounded more like a boy's name and she wanted to have at least one male character of her own (this was back when the character limit was three and before it changed to four and then five).
    • Faeton was supposed to be an only child, but then her roleplayer decided to create the first set of twins for the group. Said twin was also going to be a girl, but then she changed her mind again and came up with how Anurto is now.
    • Bernie was supposed to be in his older teen years like most of the other Mistakes, but after a while his roleplayer decided that she would rather have a boy closer to Madigan's age just to be a little different.
    • Dorian was originally going to be a girl, but his roleplayer decided to make him male to even things out.
    • Rey was originally supposed to be a highly neurotic male heavily modeled after Sam Kinison, but her roleplayer wanted to even things out a little, and felt the character worked better as a female.
    • Wilson's roleplayer could've included something involving his toothbrush where Wilson's father, Deadpool, would show up some time after it was broken due to telling him that no harm should ever come to it. It might've worked and could've even been funny if done right, but he ended up being talked out of it once a few other roleplayers complained that it sounded like a little too much of an Ass Pull and that it seemed to make the toothbrush more important and interesting than Wilson himself.
    • The Mizuhashi twins were originally going to be one (male) character, but their roleplayer thought the roleplay needed a female Big Bad, but also wanted to keep the gender ratio of her characters even. So she made them twins.
