Train to the End of the World is an anime set in a world devastated by 7G networking technology. After The End of the World as We Know It, several girls embark on a journey via train to find their friend, who was separated from them before the world began collapsing.

This anime was released in 2024 apogeego and Kadokawa among others. It can be streamed on Crunchyroll.

Tropes used in Train to the End of the World (anime) include:
  • Abandoned Area: Outside of settlements, most places are devoid of friendly life.
  • Acid Trip Dimension: The launch of 7G networking has this effect on the perception of the world.
  • Alliterative Name: Poison Pontaro, a "Spread 7G Worldwide Committee" leader, has one.
  • Apocalypse How: Two years after the launch of 7G networking, Japan exists as a scattering of rural agricultural communities, where electricity exists but is unreliable and scarce, delivery companies are heavily armed, mass media is regulated to local newspapers, telecommunication between settlements doesn’t exist, doctors are rare, and there is little reason to think things won’t continue to decline.
  • The Apunkalypse: The Black Leopard delivery caravan vehicles look like they would fit in Mad Max, featuring armored cabs, gun turrets, bloody handprints on the side, etc. This is juxtaposed against the cheery Jingle they play when they come to town, and the absolutely professional attire and attitude of the actual employees running the convoy.
  • Atop a Mountain of Corpses: Where the zombie queen commands her forces from in part of episode 7.
  • Baleful Polymorph: What 7G networking does to most people. Some become animals, others trees. One man is seen as a pair of legs.
  • Black Helicopter: One can briefly be seen in the opening theme.
  • Brain-Computer Interface: 7G networking technology is said to link the brain directly to devices by Poison Pontaro.
  • Captain Obvious: Reimi states "We'd die if we became skeletons!" in episode 5.
  • Chess Motifs: Shogi motifs are used by the villains in episode 8.
  • Console Cameo: Episode 7 features a Sega Saturn, complete with a Virtua Gun light gun controller and House of the Dead.
  • Cool Train: The titular train, given the name Apogee ant the very beginning of episode 6.
  • The Ditz: Reimi has this reputation in universe, as commented on by Nadeko in Episode 4.
  • Electronic Telepathy: Poison Pontaro states that 7G networking will enable users to broadcast their thoughts.
  • The End of the World as We Know It: The first episode cuts to two years after the launch of 7G networking, and there is significant decay visible.
    • The infrastructure is visibly decaying.
    • A character mentions that two others fought over burlap sacks.
    • A character mentions there are no clinics, and mentions of no bureaucracy likely mean The Government is absent too.
  • Fascists' Bed Time: Inariyama is under curfew, even in broad daylight.
  • Funny Animal: How most people appear two years after the launch of 7G networking.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Nadeko sports pigtails as her hairstyle.
  • Living Statue: One station has a number of Jizo statues.
  • Mission Control: Zenjiro at Agano station serves as this, communicating via Morse code over taps to the rails.
  • Mission Control Is Off Its Meds: Zenjiro is only Lucid for about 5 minutes a day, and his replies after he reverts are "Choo Choo".
  • Our Zombies Are Different: The migratory zombies move the favorable conditions as led by their zombie queen. They are distracted by anything brain-like, including crumpled aluminum foil, and can be tricked with simple paint and slow movement.
  • Police State: The city of Inariyama is ruled by a tyrannical boss who turns those who opposes him into skeletons.
    • Chaos and Poison rule their cities this way as well.
  • Puppeteer Parasite: The people of Higashi-Agano have mushrooms growing out of their heads, and seem to be warped by them.
  • Reset Button: The 7G activation button is capable of turning off the changes to the world if used correctly, however it only affects the more weird parts of the disaster. It doesn’t roll back time, it leaves people with their memories, and doesn’t fully return everything to how they were, at least not immediately.
  • Schizo-Tech: After the launch of 7G technology, the few humans left are back to using PHS (Personal Handy-phone System) technology that was regionally popular in The Nineties and the 2000s.
  • Shout-Out: When running into a tiny settlement, one of the girls asks if they are Gulliver.
  • The Smart Guy: Akira knows Morse code and is book smart, having books like Justine by Marquis de Sade on her person.
  • Twenty Minutes Into the Future: The show begins with the launch of 7G networking. For reference, the show aired while 5G networking was the standard.
  • Zombie Infectee: Akira has a mushroom parasite in Episode 4.
