Twilight (novel)/Trivia

  • Hey, It's That Guy!:
  • Hey, It's That Voice!:
  • Fake American: Robert Pattinson (British) as Edward Cullen, in the movies.
  • Fake Brit: Carlisle Cullen (British) is played by Peter Facinelli (American) in the movies.
  • Fan Nickname: SMeyer, RPattz, KStew.
    • Antis, also.
    • Jacob McMillion Abs!
    • Famous ladies' man; Charlie the Vampire Slayer.
    • Stephyloccocus for haters.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: The two most popular names for American babies in 2010 were Jacob and Isabella. Isabella didn't even make the top five names until 2006, and Jacob is showing a steady incline in popularity over the past year, after a decade-long lull in popularity. Coincidence, or Fan-Preferred Couple meets Theme Naming?
    • As a side note, Edward is way down at #136, since it's a more old-fashioned named than the others. However, it's still managed to climb up a few places in the years after Twilight, even after a century's lull in popularity.
  • Romance on the Set: As of the end-ish of February 2010 the Real Life actor of Bella and Edward are dating. Some fans have been... disappointed about this development.
    • Given the fact that Robert Pattinson is well-known for talking out of his ass, and being proud of it, the idea that the two are actually dating in real life is pretty dubious.
    • Well the article was corrected as an interpretation by the reporter, but I would say that two pretty, young and single co-stars that spend all the time that they are not filming other projects together, in addition to the time they already spend filming the movies and that complete each other ideas, defend each other, and most of the time are very close, the idea that they are dating its not THAT dubious.
    • God help them if they ever decide to break up.
  • What Could Have Been: According to this article, Executive Meddling at Paramount was originally planning to turn Twilight into a far more action-heavy movie -- something of a high school-set version of Underworld -- in order to bring in more male viewers. Bella was made into a far more active character (she was written as a track star) who fought back against the vampires, and gets turned into one herself in the first movie. Anyone Can Die was in full effect, with Bella's dad dying by the end of the movie. A Korean FBI vampire hunter was introduced as an antagonist, and one scene had vampires picking off members of a SWAT team sent into a forest after them. An Executive Veto from Stephenie Meyer put the kibosh on this, and the resulting adaptation by Summit was made far more faithful to the novel.
    • When writing the first book, Stephanie Meyer based the physical appearance of Edward on Henry Cavill, who then little known. She described him as perfect for the part but he was considered too old to play it when the film was made. Fortunately he now gets to be the Man of Steel.
  • Christopher Heyerdahl plays Marcus on the movies and Bigfoot on Sanctuary a Neanderthal, the producers decide to make him a Romance Genre enthusiast reading Nicholas Sparks novels and Twilight even stating that he likes Marcus.
  • The Swedish titles for the books have nothing to do with time:
    • Twilight = Om jag kunde drömma = If I could dream
    • New Moon = När jag hör din röst = When I hear your voice
    • Eclipse = Ljudet av ditt hjärta = The sound of your heart
    • Breaking Dawn = Så länge vi båda andas = As long as we both breathe
