Final Fantasy XV/Trivia
- Development Hell/Vaporware: Pushing six years in development and counting. It was announced practically the day after Final Fantasy XIII back in 2006, and took three years just to be teased to the public at E3. To put this in perspective, in the time it's taken from the initial announcement to the public release of gameplay footage, Final Fantasy XIII has been released worldwide; Final Fantasy XIV has been announced, released, and apologized for; Final Fantasy Agito XIII (aka Final Fantasy Type-0) has been announced, renamed, released, and already given a sequel; and Final Fantasy XIII-2 has been developed, announced, and released as well. Word of God says Versus is going to be the last game released in the XIII series. It got to a point by early 2011 that a conference had to be arranged to prove that the game, amongst other high-profile Square Enix games, was still in development.
- Fan Nickname:
- Noctis was commonly named "Storm" before his official name was revealed, thanks in part to Mondegreens from the aforementioned "Somnus" and also because naming main characters after meteorological or geographical phenomena is a recurring theme of the FF series.
- His buddies also got the not-always-flattering nicknames of "Blond Faggot-kun," "Manly Bearded Dude," and "Glasses Touchdown."
- They also got nicknames according to their traits; Shotgun, Glasses and Scar.
- King Caelum has been nicknamed Hans Gruber.
- Flame War: Aside from the fact that it's an FF game, the April Fool's joke that Noctis would be openly gay led to some... interesting discussions, with both homophobia and rabid accusations thereof abounding, as well as much mocking those taken in, on a number of sites.
- Hey It's That Voice: They gave Simon a shotgun. Oh Crap.
- Mythology Gag: The lead character is at an event and meets the heroine in a white dress... Hmm...
- Names to Know In Anime:
