Mobile Suit Victory Gundam/YMMV

Alas, Poor Villain: Several characters in the Zanscare side get these. Good examples are the kind-hearted pilot that Usso killed in battle and deeply regretted it, the Star-Crossed Lovers Karinga and Kisharl who end up killing each other, and the Battle Couple of Renda and Duker... who mix this with So Cool Its Awesome, as their souls are seen riding together in a Harley towards the afterlife.
- Arguably Chronicle and Katejina get this too.
Americans Hate Tingle: Despite being widely despised by most Western viewers for various reasons, Katejina seems to have a significant fanbase in Japan. She got into 17th place for female characters in Newtype Magazine's female characters poll. Also, Super Robot Wars titles that featured "Victory" tend to make her look a little bit more sympathetic (regaining her moral codes near the end of her life, before she's killed off, or being outright Brainwashed and Crazy), or just make her do Heel Face Turn as in Super Robot Wars Destiny (not Becoming the Mask completely in time). She's also usually the top candidate of representative of Victory other than Usso in other Gundam spinoffs like the Gundam vs. Series or Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2)
Broken Base: This is one of the more divisive and polarizing series' in not just the UCverse, but in the entire Gundam franchise. Some people like it just fine, but others really hate it, deeming it one of the worst Gundam shows ever made.
Complete Monster: While the likes of Chronicle, Katejina, and Tassilo are real pieces of work, only Big Bad Fonse Kagatie himself is worthy of this title. He is truly depraved, devoid of any positive or altruistic qualities. His ultimate goal was planetary genocide so that he could control all life that remained afterwards, and he stepped on as many innocent lives as it took to accomplish this.
Crowning Music of Awesome: The two openings -- "Stand Up to the Victory" and "Don't Stop! Carry On!" -- are some of the best of the franchise, despite how much they basically lie about the mood of the show.
Fashion Victim Villain: Fuala wearing cat bells as earrings alongside a pink pilot suit.
- Not just as earrings, but pretty much everywhere on her.
- These wigs. These old fashioned, really stupid looking wigs.
  - Note that the bells are explained as being linked with crazy!Fuala's obsession with the guillotine (they were the same kind of bells worn by the ones to be executed). On the other hand, that type of wigs is worn by officials even today, as stated below.
    - Actually, there are people who do know such details -- and yet they still find it funny, or at least very distracting. It's like knowing about English judges using wigs while at work, but being weirded out at the sight.
Funny Aneurysm Moment: an old man in ep. 12 mistakes Uso for someone called 'Nicol' - who's one of the youngest characters in Gundam Seed and the first to fall prey to Anyone Can Die.
- Let's not forget episode 15, with the two kids stowing away on the shuttle and taking photos of a faked "hijacking". With a gun, even.
Iron Woobie: The most incredible thing about Uso as a character is that he didn't snap despite the numerous, brutal deaths that happen around him and their consequences.
Jerkass Woobie: Chronicle Asher and Katejina Loos have some rare moments of sympathy, as opposed to Tassilo or Kagatie, who do not.
Magnificent Bastard: Tassilo Vargo is either this or a very highly-functional Smug Snake.
Moral Event Horizon: Nearly all of Katejina's actions after her Face Heel Turn, Arbeo's actions that end up costing Usso's mother her life, Tassilo killing Queen Maria, and Kagatie's entire plan with Angel Halo.
Narm: This.
- Katejina deciding to sicc some bikini-clad assassins on Uso while he is in his Gundam made very little sense, and quickly proved utterly pointless.
- There's a few others as well: Chronicle's death being ruined by a THUD right before the Eyecatch is a good exemple.
- Arbeo's isn't better: look at this face ! It's easily one of the few deaths of the franchise that can double as a funny.
- The Zanscare military meetings become freaking ridiculous when you see either grunts or commanders wearing old-fashioned wigs. We know, it's The Empire, but what the Hell.
  - Note that even today those types of wigs are used in Britain by judges, so it's not completely outlandish.
Nightmare Fuel: Deaths in this series are not only sad and very common, but often are utterly anticlimactic. Mueller, Uso's Hot Mom, got the worst: Being decapitated by a mech's tire in the middle of a hostage situation? In front of your kid and his friends, right before a ceasefire, and the only the only thing that remains is your helmet with your severed, bleeding head inside, which is then recovered by said 13 year old son. What the FUUUUUCK?!
- The mere concept of the massive Mind Rape device known as the "Angel Halo" is freaking terrifying. Think of it... First of all, there is absolutely no reason for the military not to use it since it produces no collateral damage, cannot be defended against and there is no chance of a mutually assured destruction scenario as with colony drops or nuclear weapons (in other words, the perfect weapon). Second, consider the terrible positions of everyone involved on the Halo itself -- highlight, read, and have 'sweet dreams:
  - Are you one of the "physickers" working on it? Enjoy being put in a constant trance, locked inside a capsule, and treated mostly as psychic fuel for the Newtype who's controlling you. Oh, and if the Halo gets damaged,(even if it is by the same woman who took you there), you'll be thrown out into space without protection. And if you're a child "physicker", you'll still die.
  - Are you the Newtype directing it? You'll be responsible for massively mindraping either one person or everyone on earth while "feeding" on the powers of 20.000 "physickers". Oh, and if they die, your empathic powers will make you feel these psychickers's pain and deaths, even if you're passed out due to the strain of merely being the Halo core (Poor Shakti.) And we're not counting all of the psychological damage you could sustain as well...
  - Are you the target of the Halo? You'll either be forced to relive your worst and best memories to screw up with your psyche, and then will be reduced to an infantile state of mind and go off to die, completely unable to take care of yourself.. All due to the Halo's power and the Zanscare Empire behind it.
Purity Sue: Deconstructed horribly. Queen Maria is kind, gentle, naive, a powerful healer and newtype... and a total puppet of The Empire behind her, which causes her lots of pain and drives a good part of the plot.
The Scrappy: Katejina gets this from fans for what she later becomes. For some, so does Shakti. And Chronicle.
- Love to Hate: .........on the other hand, Katejina is also one of the most memorable Gundam villains because of her evilness, and has quite a few fans in Japan and on 4chan's /m/ board.
Tear Jerker: Lots, but the most poignant one is probably the one where all the old guys take over the crippled Reinforce Jr. and use it to ram the enemy flagship.
True Art Is Angsty
Unfortunate Implications: Anything regarding The "Bikini Babe Assault". Half naked girls trying to kill Uso using their nudity to distract him, but they are all easily killed by his Gundam... Uh, yeah, nothing to see here!
