Mr. Fanservice/Music

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • David Bowie. Just, David Bowie. Even the guys want him.
  • Yoshiki Hayashi. Is a Real Life Woobie and Ophelia due to his tragic life, as well as being a musician and incredibly rich. He tends to write a fair amount of lyrics that are either heavily sexual or angsty, is well-endowed, has done bondage performances with himself as a submissive being dominated by women on stage and several BDSM or Gorn themed photoshoots...and those aren't even counting the ones where he's in the shower, nude, or in pants with a crotch two sizes too small. Also has at some points had a sizable Slash Fic fandom and men are among the Groupie Brigade. That and he looks to be in his late 20s or early 30s.
  • The Rum Tum Tugger from Cats (in-show). All the lady-cats actually had a Squee moment during the character's song, although most of the male cats did have their share of female cats interested in them.
  • Additionally, the film version of Phantom of the Opera with Gerard Butler as said Phantom seemed to excite all of my female and some of my male choir-mates. Notably in this version the Phantom has been upgraded from piano-wired Lon Chaney to a half-masked stud... Singing in color in a talkie movie also gives an edge over the 1925 version.
    • Although, those same characteristics (along with many other complaints) are a part of why the movie is largely looked down upon by people who were fans before it came out.
    • The song "Music Of The Night" is quite well erotic enough that you could have Lon Chaney's original noseless Phantom singing it and STILL get squeeing fangirls. The fact that it's sung by Gerard Butler only helps.
    • And Michael Crawford of the original Broadway version has caused quite a number of female heartbeats to start going triple-time.
      • With few exceptions, most of the actors who have performed the role onstage have generated this effect. So have a fair number of the Raouls.
      • Two notable Phantoms with a number of fangirls are Hugh [dead link] Panaro and JohnOwen Jones
  • While everyone in the band Rammstein could qualify as well, a special mention goes to the singer, Till Lindemann, who is this trope. Sexy voice, shirtless scene and really comfortable with doing male on male scenes. Rammstein fans know this. Massachusetts knows this. Flake knows this.
    • He gets extra points for being very tall, very muscular indeed and a licensed pyrotechnician. According to a bandmate, he gets burned onstage a lot, but "He likes the pain".
    • It doesn't hurt that before joining the band he swam for the East German Olympic team.
    • Lead guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe is also especially noticeable. Muscular body. Close-fitting clothes. Hypnotic steel-grey eyes. And if all of that isn't enough, his video for Emigrate song "New York City" is pure fanservice (with a bonus fetish collar).
  • Sean "Slug" Daley of the hip-hop group Atmosphere has a lot of female fans. A * lot* of female fans.
  • Oliver Sykes from the metal band Bring Me the Horizon seems to be a massive pull for female fans. Despite his extremely vulgar sense of humor and very graphic and derogitory lyrics about women. There's also the fact that his voice is (at least on Count Your Blessings) pure Nightmare Fuel. I guess his combination of badboy and emo seems to work despite himself.
    • No matter how hard you try to not be attracted to him, eventually it happens.
  • Der Tod from Elisabeth. Particularly as played by Uwe Kröger
  • Sting from The Police in the video for "Don't Stand So Close To Me". I mean, why else would he have taken his shirt off?
    • Which prompts the thought: no wonder his student's hot for him ...
    • This may wall have kickstarted some women's puberty. It was either this, his solo video for "Fortress Around Your Heart", or Sting in the Flying Underpants in DUNE.
  • Michael Hutchence of INXS was one in a big way in the late 80s. Just take a look at their videos.
  • Everyone in Short Stack. *drools*
  • Peter Steele of Type O Negative. Doesn't help he posed for Playgirl.
  • Steve Bays of Hot Hot Heat, judging by Facebook groups such as "Steve Bays Is My Sexy Tight Pants God". It might be the crazy, curly hair or the tortured singing. It's something, for sure, judging by girls at the band's concerts.
  • Wayne Newton STILL gets panties thrown on stage at his concerts.
  • Christian Kane Have you been to one of his concerts? 90% of the fans there are female.
  • Pick a J-rock band. Any J-rock band.
  • Similarily, pick ANY K-pop boyband. Dong Bang Shin Ki, Super Junior, SHINee...most of them are also Bishonen to boot.
    • How about "Pick any Boy Band." Full stop.
  • Duran Duran were/are famous (infamous) for being this. Nearly every single member of the band has historically had his own legion of female adorers who would've flung themselves at them given half a chance to do so. Some speculate that this explains their poor critical reception in the heavily mysoginistic American music press. (The British championed them in the early days, before they became hugely popular.)
  • Doctor Steel seems to invoke this sort of response in a great number of women. Especially when he takes his shirt off. Doesn't mind a number of scantily-clad nurses and scouts assisting him, either.
  • 2D of Gorillaz was intentionally picked by Murdoc to be the prettyboy Face of the Band. 2D's original bio described him thus: "Voice like an angel, arse like a satsuma." In-universe, it works great. For the real-life viewers, Your Mileage May Vary because ... well.
  • Damon Albarn of Blur used to be one intentionally in the nineties. But he still pretty much is one.
  • Apocalyptica actively plays to this trope, most often playing on stage shirtless just to please the fangirls. This was particularly evident with Eicca in the early days, though recently he's put his shirt back on and Perttu Kivilaakso [dead link] has taken the role (observe how the interviewer introduces him).
  • Jared Leto from 30 Seconds to Mars.
  • Adam Levine from Maroon Five. Recently does a shirtless clip dancing like the former-Mr.Fanservice-britsh-rocker Mick Jagger
  • David Draiman from Disturbed. Clever and well-spoken, Troubled but Cute, deep, masculine voice and a hint of scariness. The hamminess helps.
  • Pretty much everyone in McFly.
  • Gackt's appearance in Japanese drama Fuurin Kazan was expected to increase young adult female viewers. What they didn't anticipate was that he also drew in 40+ year old female fans as well.
    • Heck, this is part of the reason he and his songs keep appearing in so many video games, animes and TV shows. His appearances in such media often results in a boost in ratings, viewer ship, and sales. He's that popular.
  • Everyone in Panic! at the Disco, though Brendon Urie and Ryan Ross (before the split) stand out.
    • Ryan had so many fangirls that in the split they lost a significant amount of their fans.
    • Brendon has actually been stripping on stage as of late.
  • Kino frontman Viktor Tsoi was .
  • Koshi Inaba from B'z, even now that he's 46, he's still regularly enter Japanese sexiest man polls. Recenly he was voted 7th in a japanese male artist with the greatest body poll. Note that he's one of the two in the poll who is above 40, the other one is 41 while the rest is around 30-39.
  • The Midnight Beast - Most of their fanbase is female. Just look at them.
  • Pretty much anyone who can play this.
  • KISS frontman Paul Stanley
  • Shayne Ward (the second winner of The X Factor) was hunky to begin with, but he showed a [dead link] lot of [dead link] skin during his third album era.
  • Though Jonny Greenwood pretty swiftly emerged as Ladies Choice in Radiohead - with his floppy hair, chiseled cheek bones and apparent ability to play any instrument he lays his hands on - it's never stopped fellow guitarist Ed O'Brien from trying. In the early days he sported some fairly over the top shirts and classic rock star moves, but over time this has been tamed to just some well fitting t-shirts, tousled hair and rock-star stubble. It tends to come across more hunky-Dad-on-a-school-run than International-Rock-Star, but he works it. Or at least did until recently.
  • Adam Ant. He was once voted the sexiest man in America, and is well aware of this. He keeps, wearing dangerously short shorts, and more often that not is, well, shirtless. Then there's his strip tease, and the fact that there are a lot of pictures where he's in bed... shirtless. Sure enough, there are plenty of fangirls out there out there that are more interested in his looks than his actual music. Then there are some people that think he's not only hot, but adorable.
  • Elvis "the Pelvis" Presley.
  • Pretty much every male Vocaloid ever, but in particular Kaito, Len, Gakupo and Kiyoteru, as these songs clearly clearly demonstrate.
  • Bono during U2's Zoo TV era: leather pants, crotch shots, falsetto vocals, and gratuitous moaning.
