Wisp OCT
"It’s been said that the most terrifying monsters are the ones we do not see, but know are lurking somewhere near us. The element of fear exists in the possibility of finding your demise at any moment; death could occur at any turn." |
Wisp’s basic premise details the thoughts of a mysteriously calm and quiet bespectacled woman named Madalyn. In a town called Wisp, a dreary and deserted place blanketed in thick fog at all times, she has set up what appears to be a tournament. At the heart of the city, an information board detailing her plea. Three blocks away, an enormous courthouse, in which she resides.
The prize?
Death has offered to revive a loved one at the price of Madalyn’s coat, which belonged to her late fiance. Madalyn is willing to pay that price to see the entrants fight for what matters.
However, it’s apparent that either Madalyn isn’t being entirely honest, or Death has something up his sleeve: Death is seen changing the message posted by Madalyn, telling the contestants that they don’t need to fight. They need only bring him Madalyn’s coat.
An Original Character Tournament hosted by Flipsheep. The official roster was announced on July 3rd, 2011. Written and drawn mediums are both accepted, as well as any character under the sun, so long as it's original. Wisp can be found on DeviantART.
Basic Tropes in Wisp:
- Ominous Fog: The title of the tournament says all.
- Ghost Town: All of the buildings are intact, but everything within them is covered in a thin film of dust, and the electricity has been cut.
Tropes Regarding Inhabitants of Wisp:
Madalyn:
- The Stoic: In her first appearance, she metaphorically kills a man without so much as a smirk, frown or sob. Behold.
- It Was a Gift: The coat she wears was actually her late fiance's.
- Scary Shiny Glasses: More often than not.
- Stoic Spectacles:
- Beware the Quiet Ones: As shown in the second introductory comic, she's not exactly incapable of emotions as her first appearance hints.
Death:
- Grim Reaper
- Badass Longcoat
- Sinister Scythe
- Villainous Cheekbones: The creator has stated he only ever drew them once on Death and then never intended to draw them again, but in a fair amount of the depictions put forth by entrants, he's got 'em.
Tropes Regarding Entrants in Wisp:
Chapel Halls
- Creator: Wondercheese
- Big Fancy House: Except not. Don't think about it too hard.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She looks nice, but she's a little psychotic.
- Beware the Nice Ones: She will be polite as long as you are polite, but as soon as etiquette rules are broken, she won't hesitate to kill.
- White Shirt of Death: Civility is not expensive, but the dry cleaners are.
- Accidental Marriage: Considering house ownership is analogous to human marriage, things could get interesting if she finds a new 'owner'.
- Razor Floss: Chapel's weapon of choice is metal wire.
Cosenti
- Creator: La-zombie-mokey
- Shapeshifting: He's a doppleganger demon after all.

But we've been assured by her creator that she "really a sweet apathetic psychopath who is still on a perilous quest of love."
- Cool Mask
- Expressive Mask: The eyes change to reflect Ishi's mood.
- The Speechless: Overlaps with Cute Mute at times.
