• Alternate Character Interpretation: Thanks to Fusion Fall (and mildly Ego Trip), Dexter has been seen as Badass Bookworm and a charismatic leader of men.
  • Quite a few fans believe he has Asperger's Syndrome, or something similar.
• Base Breaker: Dee-Dee is seen as either a good foil to Dexter or an annoying pest. It helps that she suffers from Depending on the Writer.
  • Mandark is either a Magnificent Bastard, a Smug Snake, or completely unnecessary to the show.
• Big Lipped Alligator Moment: The part of "Continuum of Cartoon Fools" where Dexter holds a stopwatch while periodically saying 'BAAAAWT'.
  • Actually if you ever did timing scripts for animation dialogue you know exactly what he's doing, Word of God says that he was timing a storyboard of the cartoon itself, yet indeed, there was no other reason to put it besides it was funny.
  • "Computer, make me a sandwich!"
  • The ending of "That Crazy Robot!" where Dexter shoots lasers from his eyes.
• Broken Base: Over the 3rd and 4th seasons. Some fans think they're completely terrible, others agree but consider a few episodes to be pretty good.
• Cargo Ship: Dexter really loves his computer. And the feeling's mutual.
• Crossover Ship: Pairing up Dexter and Blossom is surprisingly popular.
• Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: The ending of "Dee Dee's Tail".
• Crowning Music of Awesome: Not too many cartoons can pull off ten minutes worth of music and singing.

  • "Go Dexter Family Go!"
  • There is doom and gloom while things go BOOM...IN DEXTER'S LAAB!
  • The duet in "Just an Old-Fashioned Lab Song". Also a Heartwarming Moment.
• Draco in Leather Pants: Mandark gets this treatment a lot. It helps he's more of an ass than an actual villain.
• Ear Worm: You're riding that hog, oohh oohh oohh!!
  • That's Professor Hawk! shoo-bi-dee-doo-bi-dooo!
  • Tomorrow is a brighter day if we work together!
  • And, not surprisingly, the Ending Theme Song.
  • Don't forget: La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la! and Aye Aye Eyes.
  • The theme for the Dial M For Monkey shorts and Go, Dexter Family, Go!" also deserve mention.
  • "TV Puppet Pals! TV Puppet Pals! Lot's of fun for guys and gals!"
  • Come on, baby, it's you and me!
• Ensemble Darkhorse: The shorts "Dial M for Monkey" and "The Justice Friends" are just as popular if not more so than the main Dexter shorts.
  • Within the main cartoon itself, Dexter's Mom and Lisa the babysitter. Guess why.
  • And then there's Lalavava...
  • Lee-Lee, one of Dee-Dee's friends, is one of these
  • Douglas Mordecai, one of Dexter's friends, despite being a borderline Satellite Character in canon.
  • Val Halen has a ton of fangirls.
• Fan-Preferred Couple: Mandark and Dee-Dee.
• Fridge Logic: In "Photo Finish" when Dexter infiltrates a photo processing place to retrieve photos of his lab and comes across the alphabetical storage room, he checks every single section rather than just the one corresponding with his last name (whatever that is).
• Genius Bonus: A lot of gags on the show are science references, some of which are fairly obscure.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Pony Puff Princess. Currently hilarious by the fact that Lauren Faust, wife of Powerpuff Girls creator Craig McCracken, went on to develop My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic.
  • Becomes a Funny Aneurysm Moment, if you watch the episode where the ponies try to kill Dee Dee AFTER you already heard of Cupcakes.
• Idiot Plot: The episode "Sis-Tem Error" has Dee Dee accidentally shutting off the lab's power and spending the rest of the episode tricking Dexter into thinking nothing is wrong by disguising herself badly as Computer, Robot and Mandark.
• Magnificent Bastard: Mandark tried to be one before Villain Decay set in.
• Memetic Mutation: "DEXTER'S SECRET".

  • "And don't forget; You are stupid! You are stupid!"
  • "Feed me. FEEEEED meeee... Fee-hee-hee-hee-d meee-heeee!"

• Periphery Demographic: Lots of teenagers and adults love this show.
• Seasonal Rot: The two seasons made without Genndy Tartakovsky after the show was Uncancelled due to boring plots, ungodly amounts of Flanderization, and a really unfitting art style. Plus, they got rid of the Justice Friends and Dial M for Monkey segments.
• Self Fanservice: Dexter and Mandark get a lot of this in fan-art.
• Tear Jerker: The wacky and fun episode of Dexter having to deal with Deedee's imaginary friend hanging out with him ends with Dexter wishing away the imaginary friend, and commanding him to never come back again. And he does. Deedee runs away sobbing. Then it fades to credits.

  • And on top of that, it's also part Harsher in Hindsight, and part Downer Ending due to Dom Deluise passing away.
  • The ending to "Way of The Dee-Dee" with Dexter in his destroyed lab and Dee-Dee running off in tears.
• They Changed It, Now It Sucks: Seasons Three and Four.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Olga/Lalavava.
• Unpopular Popular Character: Koosalagoopagoop is not well liked in the Land of Koos, but Dee Dee, the audience and eventually even Dexter like him.
• Villain Decay: Mandark in the Seasonal Rot seasons, as a possible side effect of appearing to much.
• The Woobie: Dexter, for those that don't see him as The Chew Toy.
