The characters of Total Magic Pony Island are quite different from one another. Below are all the characters, in no particular order.
NOTE: Please don't add a trope to this character just because it applies to them in the actual series. Only add it if it is important to this work.
Discord
The host; not a contestant.
- Affably Evil
- The Chessmaster
- Cloudcuckoolander: At times.
- Even Evil Has Standards: He is disappointed in Diamond Tiara's bullying.
- He also rescues Silver Spoon when she is about to get eaten by sharks.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Though he plays his heart of gold off as just "trying to keep his ratings up".
Nightmare Moon
Discord's assistant and the cook; not a contestant.
- Berserk Button: Disobeying her or insulting her cooking.
- Deadpan Snarker
- Drill Sergeant Nasty: When Discord leaves for an episode and she takes over.
- Lethal Chef: Actually, might be averted; nopony is actually shown to eat her food, except Pinkie Pie, who likes it.
- Scary Black Mare

Applejack
- Berserk Button: Apple Bloom being eliminated.
- Tsundere: Towards Rainbow Dash.
Pinkie Pie
Rainbow Dash
- The Chessmaster: Becoming one.
- Flanderization: Goes from a Jerk with a Heart of Gold to outright Jerkass in...well, ten seconds flat.
- The Rival: To Spike.
- Took a Level in Jerkass
Rarity
- Berserk Button: Learning that Spike is now interested in Silver Spoon rather than her.
- Super OCD: Of the cleanliness type; even just a little dirt sets her off.

- Let's Get Dangerous: After Silver Spoon is eliminated.
- The Rival: To Rainbow Dash.

- Took a Level In Kindness: Seems to become less crabby as time goes on.
Celestia
- Authority Equals Asskicking: Averted; she's actually rather incompetent.
- Butt Monkey
- Physical God: Doesn't help her here, though.
Luna
- Authority Equals Asskicking: Averted somewhat; she can still do more than Celestia, but still isn't that good.
- Physical God: Doesn't help her here, though.
Zecora
- Berserk Button: Insulting her rhyming ways or the Everfree Forest.
- Oh Crap: Upon realizing that the doll she brought from the island caused her team to lose.
- Rhymes on a Dime
Cheerilee
- Beware the Nice Ones: Again, looking at you, Rainbow Dash.
- Mama Bear: Not her mother, but very protective of Scootaloo.
- Only Sane Pony
Apple Bloom
- Revenge by Proxy: Trixie eliminates her for no reason other than to stay in the game and get back at her team for yelling at her for costing them a challenge.
- Took a Level In Badass: Quite a bit more competent than in the show, as she manages to win a challenge for her team almost entirely on her own.
Scootaloo
- Big Eater
- Flanderization: Goes from idolizing Rainbow Dash to having a poorly-hidden crush on her.
- Gasshole: Can belch the entire alphabet.
Sweetie Belle
- Disproportionate Retribution: Eliminated for just one mistake that anypony could've made in a challenge.
Diamond Tiara
- Break the Haughty: Receiving a "The Reason You Suck" Speech and being eliminated within one episode of each other after bullying Silver Spoon.
- Jerkass

- Took a Level In Kindness
- Unknown Rival: To Rarity.
Gilda
- Jerkass
- The Bus Came Back
- Took a Level In Kindness: Becomes a bit nicer when she returns in episode 14.
Derpy Hooves
- Cloudcuckoolander
- Genius Ditz: Has a good idea every now and then, but it usually doesn't help.
- Made of Iron: Can shrug off even the toughest of crashes, but...
- Weaksauce Weakness: ...for some reason, small injuries (like having a pebble chucked at her forehead) knock her out instantly.
