Haruyuki Arita

Voiced by Yuuki Kaji.

The main character of Accel World, a short and fat boy with a lot of self-esteem issues mainly caused by not only his appearance, but also the constant harassing of bullies at his school.

He becomes Silver Crow in the Accelerated World.

• Anti-Hero: He is a loser at first, but gets better.
• Determinator
• Flight: His avatar's special ability in the Accelerated World, and apparently the first one to be able to do so.
• Fragile Speedster: The Silver Crow's fighting style. Until he grows wings, that is. Then he becomes more of a Glass Cannon
• Heroic Self-Deprecation
• I Can't Believe A Girl Like You Would Notice Me!: The main reason why he can't accept Kuroyukihime's feelings.
• Ignore the Fanservice: When Scarlet Rain attempts to infiltrate Black Lotus' legion by pretending to be his second cousin and acting deceptively cute, it doesn't take him too long to check if she *is* really his second cousin.

Voiced by Sachika Miwasa.

A second year at Haruyuki's school who is very popular among the other students thanks to both her looks and passive personality. She becomes interested in Haruyuki and gives him the chance to enter the Accelerated World to fight alongside her.

She becomes Black Lotus in the Accelerated World and is actually the former Black King.

• Meaningful Name: Her last name, Kuroyukihime, translates to Princess Snow Black. You can already guess what she ended up being...
• Mentor Ship: It's been implied in not exactly the most subtle of ways that she loves Haruyuki.
• Nonuniform Uniform: For apparently no reason at all, she wears a darker version of the school uniform. It does fit her nicely though.

Chiyuri Kurashima

Voiced by Aki Toyosaki.

Haruyuki's childhood friend and an upbeat girl who attends the same school as him. Although she is going out with Takumu, also a childhood friend of Haruyuki's, she cares a lot about the latter's wellbeing and is the first one to show concern over his problems with the school bullies.

She is the only one without an initial avatar in the Accelerated World until she demands the program for herself and becomes Lime Bell.

• Catgirl: Well, she wears that hair ornament with the face of a cat on it and her avatar inside the school is basically her in a cat suit.

• We Used to Be Friends: All she really wanted was to stay friends with Haruyuki and Takumu, and is extremely depressed about seeing the three of them drifting apart.

Takumu Mayuzumi

Voiced by Shintaro Asanuma.

Another childhood friend of Haruyuki's and Chiyuri's current boyfriend. He attends a prestigious school unlike his two childhood friends and often takes part in kendo tournaments.

His avatar in the Accelerated World is eventually revealed to be Cyan Pile, who seeks to eliminate the Black King.

• The Atoner: After being defeated by Silver Crow, he shows evident aspects of this.
• Chest Blaster: One of Cyan Pile's special attack.

• The Lancer: Later he helps Haruyuki raise his levels thanks to his higher experience and skills when it comes to fighting in the Accelerated World.
• Multi Melee Master: Much to Haruyuki's surprise during his fight against Cyan Pile, his bunker pile can be used (albeit less efficiently) in middle and long ranged combat, being particularly useful in tight spaces such as corridors.
