Lian Shi

"The Beautiful Guardian"

Height: 5'5" (165cm)

Lian Shi serves under Sun Shang Xiang as one of her armed maids. A member of a once wealthy and prominent family that has fallen from grace. Trained to become a warrior, she is capable enough to protect herself and her lady.

Also known as Lady Bu and Bu Lianshi. Historically, she later becomes one of Sun Quan's concubines, in particular his favorite, and was posthumously made Empress after her death.

• Absolute Cleavage - One only needs to look at how she is drawn in fanart.
• The Archer - The only archer who uses a crossbow, firing it more like a Sawed-Off Shotgun and almost never bothers to reload even if her shots fire seven arrows at a time.
• Big Breasts, Big Deal - Other than the hinting at (see "My Eyes Are Up Here" below), they're never commented on.
• Composite Character - Probably, as she combined the aspects of Sun Quan's concubine and one of Shang Xiang's lady-in-waiting (there's no record saying they're historically the same person).
• Everyone Can See It - Her affections for Sun Quan. Shang Xiang encourages it.
• Foil - Quite possibly, she's the foil of Wei's Zhen Ji. Both are each factions' Ms. Fanservice and they are the respective Empresses of each factions (and they're also historically made one posthumously), devoted highly to their respective loves. However, while Zhen Ji is a haughty Rich Bitch who has been a noble since her beginning, Lian Shi acts more like a motherly, caring and compassionate Team Mom for Wu, and didn't start out a noble, but a bodyguard for Shang Xiang.
• Ms. Fanservice - Very much so. Her large breasts jiggle and her skirt flies upward from taking a single step AT THE SAME TIME.
  • Reversed somewhat in DW8, where her outfit is somewhat more modest.
• My Eyes Are Up Here - A subtle one in her Legend Mode. Sun Quan approaches her and held her arms asking if she's okay. But then he backed away and apologized. It could be about he's sorry about being rash like that, or it could be that he's looking at her boobs while doing so.
• Panty Shot - All the time, even when she's just running in DW7.
• Raven Hair, Ivory Skin
• Ship Tease - With Sun Quan. Moves into Official Couple territory at the end of Wu's Story Mode.
  • DW8 drops any hint of subtlety and jumps past this into Official Couple territory in no time flat.
• Stripperiffic: Her DW7 outfit. Her DW8 costume is much more restrained.
• Team Mom - She basically took care and give support to many Wu officers that they can perform their duties well.

Zhou Tai

Zhou Tai is known in the Wu Kingdom as Sun Quan's personal bodyguard, after saving his life in the Battle for Wu Province.

Zhou Tai is a calm warrior who is merciless to his foes. He only talks when necessary and prefers action. His hard-to-approach and taciturn demeanor belie a sincerely kind and loyal man of Wu.

• Demoted to Extra - His role as Sun Quan's bodyguard gets overtaken more by Lian Shi in DW7, though given the amount of shipping Wu's Story Mode does for Quan and Lian Shi, this is somewhat justified, especially when the ending makes them an Official Couple. Although he got his less-extra stuff in XL, with his Hero Scenario in Legend Mode.
  • DW8 manages to give both himself and Lianshi about the same amount of focus.
• Good Scars, Evil Scars Are Forever - One across his eye, and a bunch more along his upper body.
  • When he asks you what your hobbies are in DW7's Conquest Mode, he'll look rather hurt if you answer with "Counting the number of scars on your body".
  • They are explained in the novel. He received them single handedly fighting off a troop of soldiers to protect a young Sun Quan. He survives the battle but has to endure several months of surgery and scars seemingly remain the rest of his life.
• Ho Yay - With Sun Quan, who seems to have an interest in counting Zhou Tai's scars, to the latter's embarrassment.
• Iaijutsu Practitioner - We ought to nickname him "Battousai".
• Katanas Are Just Better - All appearances except DW6, despite katanas being developed about a thousand years after his time. It does make for a badass fighting style, though.
  • Technically, despite how it's named, it's a "tachi", a forerunner of the katana (though still not invented in Zhou Tai's time, much less brought over to the mainland), not an actual katana, being more curved and sheathed with the blade facing down rather than up. To be fair, the developers do seem to recognise this, giving him rather decent horseback ability (at least in DW4-5, where he was one of only three characters who attacked all on one side rather than alternating sides, meaning he could actually fight officers at least semi-effectively). Historically, the tachi meant to be a cavalry-based weapon.
  • Besides there are some swords like the Miao Dao or the Zhan Ma Dao that looks much like a katana.
