  • Acceptable Hard Luck Targets:
    • The mockery of Toot's weight issues is absolutely ruthless.
    • The show does live by 'anything or nothing is acceptable to mock', and is pretty ruthless with all of it.
  • Acceptable Religious Targets: Clara's extreme devotion to Christianity is often used to make her a villain. The show could never decide if she was Catholic (she used rosaries) or Protestant (she listens to Kirk Cameron).
  • Alas, Poor Scrappy: Even though Clara became quite a bitch in the later episodes of the show, it was still surprisingly sad when her arms were chopped off and she was killed in the movie.
  • Base Breaker: Captain Hero. He essentially became the main character midway through season 2. Sure enough, he also became the most divisive character as a result.
  • Better on DVD: The episodes are uncensored and have additional footage on DVD. Plus, some of the jokes have another layer to them that can only be understood after seeing both the censored and uncensored versions.
  • Cargo Ship: Foxxy and her Funyuns.
  • Complete Monster:
    • Parodied, of course. In order to convince his mother that he's a competent superhero, Captain Hero has Xandir dress up as the supervillain "Two Hands" and attack her, just so he can save her:

Two Hands: Don't scream! If I could set that homeless girl on fire, I won't have any problem killing you!

    • All things considered, Captain Hero himself could qualify. Among other things, he's: thrown his own home planet and its 7 billion inhabitants into the sun because his parents had him aborted, regularly rapes women 100 miles above the earth and lets them fall to their deaths, built a robot, programmed it to feel pain and then forced himself on it, the list goes on for quite a while...
    • The Jew Producer might count, what else would you call someone who jerks off to puppies and kittens being stomped to death?
  • Creator's Pet: Even fans of the character admit that Captain Hero is used way too much.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: Sometimes more than that.
  • Crowning Moment of Awesome: Hearing Timmy Turner, Wakko Warner (Jess Harnell), and Elmyra Duff swear and act vulgar on a Comedy Central show. How cool is that?
  • Cult Classic: This show has a very large cult following, especially on internet forums. Fans will often have entire conversations with each other using nothing but quotes from the show.
  • Drinking Game:
    • At the end of one of the episodes.
    • The box set includes drinking game rules for a select group of episodes.
    • The male characters also have a drinking game of "take a drink of whenever something gay happens on Drawn Together." This ends up with Xandir dead as a result of a murderous rampage on Ling-Ling's part.
  • Dude, Not Funny: Chances are you'll say this at some point. Spanky Ham has this reaction in-show upon seeing a cell full of racially stereotyped Native Americans, despite laughing at cells full of stereotypical Africans, Mexicans, and mixed "Asians":

Spanky Ham: Now, see, that's not funny. Those people got a raw deal.

Foxxy Love: Is there anyone out there who didn't think that this would go gay?

  • Jerkass Woobie: Toot deliberately sets out to be "the bitch", after believing she can't be the sex symbol, but tends to suffer the most of the entire cast. She becomes more sympathetic as the series goes along.
  • Misaimed Fandom: The episode "Xandir and Tim, Sitting in a Tree" revolved around Hero creating an alternate identity named Tim, and in that character, having an affair with Xandir. Xandir/Hero shippers took the episode to mean that Captain Hero was secretly in love with Xandir, even though the episode's writer stated in an online forum that the point of Hero's masquerade was merely to get sex from Xandir without having to face any consequences.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Actually played with on the show a few times.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • Wooldor's transformation in Drawn Together Babies.
    • This scene!
  • Playing Against Type: Tara Strong (previously sweet, wholesome Bubbles) as Princess Clara and Toot. This was something that Strong herself commented on, as the series was starting.
  • The Scrappy: Played with in the episode "Lost in Parking Space, Part 2". In a parody of Hostel, mall patrons are able to torture various hated cartoon characters; Scrappy himself is among them.
  • Tear Jerker: Comic StripPopeye's death in "The Lemon-AIDS Walk".
  • Too Good to Last: Very.
  • Unpopular Popular Character: Xandir isn't much liked by the other characters, but he is far and away the most popular character amongst fans.
  • Viewer Gender Confusion: It was several episodes before Ling-Ling was identified as male; many viewers assumed he was female.
  • The Woobie:
    • Excludie, the ninth housemate who is excluded from everything. Fanfiction often casts Xandir in this role.
    • Ling-Ling. Especially in the movie when he pines for Xandir but can't have him.
  • Woolseyism: The Latin American dub brings funny new names for the characters (Puerquísimo Chancho, Morocha Amorocha, Mueble O'Algo) and a more over-the-top dub and general feeling which enhances the series.
