Characters from Super Robot Wars D include:
Joshua Radcliff
(To be voiced by Yuuichi Nakamura)
The main character of Destiny. Usually called "Josh" for short, he's an ex-soldier, having fought against the Zanscare Empire in the past, but as of now, goes on testing machines with adoptive sister Cliana Rimskaya. He has mixed feelings with his father: at one point, he dislikes him for being too much of a Workaholic; on the other hand, he respects him well. Eventually, at one testing event, he gets attacked by the Invaders and is caught in the Ruina's plan to seal the Earth and destroy it. After learning the Ruina's appearance is indirectly caused by his father, Josh swears to amend his father's wrongs. Depending on the choice, he may recruit the Ruina general of ice, Glacies.
He pilots either the Real Robot Aile Chevalier (Mid-Season Upgrade Geant Chevalier) or the Super Robot Ganador (combines with the Strega into the Forte Gigas). He can pilot the other mecha, but these two are generally accepted as his default.[1] Joshua will appear in the Second Original Generation with his default mecha as the Aile Chevalier.
- And the Fandom Rejoiced: His Original Generation debut in the initial scans for the game, and who his voice actor will be have caused this.
- Art Evolution: Contrast Joshua's appearance in Destiny with his Original Generation incarnation. It's actually a subversion, though: the redesign is done by Sachiko Kouno, SRW's current character designer for its console titles. The original design from Destiny was by Sachie Suzuki, as Kouno doesn't work on stand-alone portable titles.

Cliana Rimskaya
(To be voiced by Houko Kuwashima)
Called "Rim" for short. She's a sweet girl who happens to possess TWO personalities: one her gentle self, the other a stoic, battle-ready girl. She gets her dual personality problem as a result of looking through the horrors of war, then gets herself experimented by Josh's father...mercilessly. When the game rolls in, however, Rim has already coped with that. Like Josh, she gets caught in the Ruina's plot and rather than just sitting back idly (as Josh tells her to), she takes on the battlefield, mostly using her stoic self while in the cockpit. She could meet up with the discarded Ruina of Wind Ventus and recruit him.
She usually pilots the Real Robot Blanche Neige (upgraded into the Dea Blanche Neige) or the Super Robot Strega.[2] Cliana will appear in the Second Original Generation with her default mecha as the Blanche Neige.
- Action Girl: Her battle self, Liana.
- Art Evolution: Subversion, due to her original Destiny design being done by Sachie Suzuki, while her new look for Original Generation is current franchise character designer Sachiko Kouno, who usually works with console releases than stand-alone portable titles.
- Uncanny Valley: However... that ELBOW in the new art...
- Awesome McCoolname: Her name is actually a combination of both her personalities: "Chris" (the sweet one) and "Liana" (the tough one).
- BFG, Beam Spam, More Dakka: Blanche Neige is practically loaded with these. They're separated, though, in the form of the backup fighter Ars Nova.
- Dea Blanche Neige plays it straight though

- Lethal Chef: She's said to have a really weird sense of taste; for instance, Rim likes to put chocolate or strawberry jam into rice balls. Possibly also has a Gargle Blaster, since Josh also thinks her milk concoctions are about as dangerous as Kusuha's health drink...
- And now Rim has the potential to join the hallowed few who like said health drink.
- Not Blood Siblings: Somehow, being adopted makes it a prerequisite to be experimented on.
- Parental Abandonment: Even worse than Joshua - her parents are dead.
- Sleeves Are for Wimps: She wears a vest and a skirt in friggin' Antarctica!
- Split Personality: What it works out to, although it plays out as a Sharing a Body situation.
- A particular Yonkoma comic lampshades this, and adds an Idiot From Osaka Meganekko and a Boisterous Bruiser with a Kyushu accent.
- The most recent Second Original Generation PV confirms Liana is a self-assured Badass Action Girl while Chris is the Moe "little sister"-type.
- The Woobie: Especially the early part: not only does she lose her parents and gets a Split Personality, her adoptive father proceeds to experiment the hell outta her. She gets better, though.
- Yamato Nadeshiko: Her gentle self, Chris.
RUINA
Antagonists of Super Robot Wars Destiny. This race feeds on negative emotions; when they gather enough power, they can use it to annihilate a universe, and if they are around a Crapsack World...well, you can guess what happens. Led by Perfectio, they're brought to the universe by Destiny protagonist Joshua Radcliff's father, who opened the gate to their world and they end up possessing him and his co-workers. Several Ruina generals assist them, but there are some not in Perfectio's perfect grip and may just be able to break free...
- An Ice Person: Glacies

- Bittersweet Ending: If Glacies is recruited, players find out she has 3 years left to live.
- Demonic Possession
- Despair Event Horizon: Perfectio's skill makes everyone affected across the horizon, like it or not.
- This led to some rumors that the Sound Force would be able to do a lot of damage to Perfectio as his skill was somehow misinterpreted to be like the Protodevlin ability. Unfortunately, this is false and neither Basara nor Mylene can attack Perfectio.
- Eldritch Abomination: So long as the gate to its dimension remains open, Perfectio's unkillable.
- Emotion Eater
- Energy Being: Perfectio; also possesses Psychic Powers.
- Epic Flail: Belgrande series mooks.
- Eyepatch of Power: Aquila
- Fish Out of Water: Glacies, if she ever gets recruited.
- Goddamned Bats: Thanks to a Game Breaking Bug, Ruina mooks become this, and they're even harder than the generals!
