Requiem is a free to play Korean MMORPG set in a world ruined by abuse of science and magic. Developed by the makers of Ragnarok Online and released in 2008, it features more conventional 3D gameplay and a Darker and Edgier world. Originally called Requiem: Bloodymares, its name changed to Requiem: Momento Mori following the Expansion Pack of the same name.

There are currently four playable races in the game; The human like Turan, the physically powerful Bartuk, the inhumane Kruxena, and the futuristic and childlike Xenoas. Each race comes with two classes, with each class receiving two subclasses.

Requiem provides examples of:

• Abandoned Laboratory:
• Aerith and Bob: The four Possession Beasts: Giont, Rebria, Carlos and Rufus.
• Allegedly Free Game: The game begins easy enough, but the leveling curve eventually makes the additional XP items from the online shops look more appealing. You can also purchase mounts and cosmetic costumes from these shops.
• An Adventurer Is You:
• Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Averted, which is odd considering the amount of Fan Service in this game. As your character takes more damage, wounds and blood appear over their body.
• BFG: Launchers.
• BFS: Both the one-handed and two-handed swords count.
• Big Boo's Haunt: Several of the areas with graveyards.
• Big Red Devil: Carlos.
• Bishonen: The male Turan.
• Body Horror: Many of the monsters qualify, as quite a few of them are a result of horrible genetic experiments gone wrong.
  • Rexes, the first permanent mounts you receive, have legs where their arms should be and wings where their legs should be.
• Booby Trap: Show up in dungeons to attack players or be a hindrance in some way.
• Capital City: Nova Lux. Other zones tend to have one large Capital City.
• Chainmail Bikini: All females can be expected to wear them at least some point in the game. Both genders of the Kruxena to this trope to ridiculous levels
• Cute Monster Girl: For the most part averted. The Kruxena are extremely skinny and have monstrous right arms. The Xenoas are also extremely skinny, and resemble small children the size of adults.
• Crapsack World: Moderate compared to other examples, but still very unpleasant.
• Cyberpunk:
• Darker and Edgier: The main visual hook of the game.
• Dark World: During the Nightmare hours (Between 23:00-3:00), the game takes you into one. Its mostly unchanged, but there are more dangerous monsters appear during these hours. Fog also appears in areas with Nightmare monsters.
• Death Is a Slap on The Wrist: For the first 20 levels anyway.
• Death Mountain: Cyclone Heights, A red mountainous region where parts of the ground appear to be bleeding.
• Demonic Possession: Invoked with the Possession Beasts.
• Dummied Out: A number of unused monsters, collectively referred to as the Nowhere Monsters.
• Enfant Terrible: The Nephas, who are the first Nightmare monsters in the game.
• Fan Disservice: Both genders of the Kruxena start off the game in extremely skimpy armor. The fact that they're so skinny makes it kind of squicky, Fetish Fuel notwithstanding.
• Fan Service: Oh so much.
• Full-Frontal Assault: The Koonts. While the majority of other monsters are in the nude, the Koonts combine this with Does This Remind You of Anything? in a way that looks quite lewd.
• Gorn: Whenever players kill monsters. Combined with Ragdoll Physics and multiple ways they'll be carved up based on your last attack.
• Hell Hound: Appear as fleshy monsters with visible skeletal structures. They also have a hand and a foot growing out of their back.
• Hellish Pupils: The Kruxena.
• Horny Devils: Appear as Nightmare monsters.
• Humanoid Abominations: A good chunk of the monsters.
• Limit Break: The possession beasts. Using them requires a full Hardcore meter, which naturally fills up as you stay alive in game.
• Ludicrous Gibs: Kill something as a possession beast.
• Mismatched Eyes: One of the face options for female Turan.
• More Teeth Than the Osmond Family: Many of the mobs in the game qualify.
• One-Winged Angel: Players can utilize this trope through the Possession Beast system, providing a temporary buff to their damage, health, and powers.
• Our Demons Are Different:
• Playboy Bunny: One of the available costumes. Is a bear suit when worn by men.
• Precursors: Only four remain of the eight original races.
• Ragdoll Physics:
• Double Standard Rape (Male on Male) / Ho Yay: In the slums of Nova Lux, there is a pair of drunks in the alleyway, one of them obviously suffering from a bad break up. The other one says to him:

"You've had enough of break-up hell. Now let me show you heaven."

• Ray Gun: Launchers.
• Red Right Hand: The Kruxena, who have monstrous right arms and feet.
• Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: Several characters enemies species including the Arioch.
• Scenery Gorn:
• Scenery Porn: The game has some very impressive looking zones with incredibly bleak feeling atmospheres.
• Schizo-Tech: The game manages to combine medieval fantasy with Cyberpunk style technology.
• Shout-Out: The Ruins of Lament bares a remarkable similarity to the Nostradamus.
  • There's also a junk item called the Golden Ticket.
• Slasher Smile: Basilisks.
• Small Girl, Big Gun: The Xenoas hunters when using launchers.
• Spiritual Sequel: Obviously unintentional, but the monster designs, bleak atmosphere and landscapes are extremely reminiscent of the first two Soul Reaver games.
• Squick: The loading screen.
• Stripperiffic:
• Summon Magic: Soul Hunters.
• Super Soldier: The player and other Temperions.
• The Undead:
  • Our Ghouls Are Creepier: Ghouls make an appearance in this game. Some of them hostile, some of them not. They can be seen digging in the ground from time to time, presumably looking for corpses.
  • Our Zombies Are Different: The first enemies you'll see in the game.
• Trapped in Another World: The Nachs race.
• Uberwald: The forest themed areas. Especially during the nightmare hours.
• Uncanny Valley: Most of the Nightmare monsters play into this. The Xenoas can also count.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: The possession beasts.
