Besides that classic tune that you know you're hearing in your head right now, the most well-known game franchise in the world has some pretty damn good tunes under its belt (all Mario tunes).

Super Mario Bros. Main Theme (World 1-1)

• The original Super Mario Bros. theme. It may have been a simple MIDI tune, but it will be remembered till the end of time. Nearly every Mario game has had a remix of it somewhere.
  • For example, the remake of the original in Super Mario Bros. All-Stars
• Here's the one from Super Mario Galaxy.
  • And Super Mario Galaxy 2, which adds more instruments.
• A medley of the songs from Super Mario Bros appears in the arcade version of pop'n music 14 FEVER!, a completely different game by a completely different company. For obvious reasons, it was excluded from the PS2 version of the game.
• The special zone version from Super Mario World. You had to wait one minute and forty four seconds on Special Zone's map screen for this music to appear. It will play after 33 seconds on this link.
• Ever wonder what Mario music would sound like if Motoi Sakuraba composed it? Well...
• The a cappella scat version from Super Mario Sunshine. Great enough in its synthesized version from the game, but the concert recording makes it even more awesome.
  • It returned slightly arranged as a mini-game music in New Super Mario Bros..
• Yoko Shimomura's arrangement of it from Super Mario RPG, which was recycled for Mario & Luigi.
  • Also in Mario & Luigi, The Road to Holli Jolly. Very apt title.
• S.S.H. rock remix of it. Amazing.
  • Something tells me that those who liked this will also like Mario Minor by Powerglove as well.
• How about Shell Rider, another awesome rock remix of this classic tune? The ending always makes me smile! Created by CarboHydroM, and all his works are free to download!
• Depressingly, there's a Billboard chart for Ringtones. This song spent over 200 weeks in it. It sold over seven hundred thousand units in 2006.
• This one from Tetris DS. Just, wow.
• Super Mario 64's title. Our very first "It's-a me! Mario!" Hit those cymbals!
• The version orchestrated by those possessed instruments in Luigis Mansion! Made even more symbolic, when you remember that both Luigi and Mario are brothers. [1]
• And yet another remix appearance in Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games!
• The Super Mario 3D Land remix. [2]
• Mario Party 9 has the aptly-titled Super-Duper Mario Bros.
  • Also in Mario Party 9, we have Museum, a soothing calm piano mix; and Freshen Up!, which is an excellent remix of the tune in the vein of Mario Kart.

Classic 2D Platformers

• Super Mario Bros 2 theme. The game may be the adopted child of the the Mario series, but the music is awesome, and also there must be some love given for this brilliant jazz remix of it (kicks in around 0:25).
  • Heck, even the character select music is epic.
  • The beautiful and evocative ending music (starts around 0:57).
• Super Mario Land Overworld 1-1 gets overshadowed by the Super Mario Brothers 1-1 theme, but it has its fans.
  • Which is why this remix exists!
  • And also why This beauty of a mix, an arranged mix from the Mario Freaks Orchestra Album, exists!
  • The World 2-1 and 2-2 theme.
  • The Chai Kingdom (Worlds 4-1 and 4-2).
  • And then the perfect conclusion, the credits.
• Super Mario Land 2 has the Star Maze. One of the few songs in the game that isn't a remix of another, and an amazing piece of work for the Game Boy of all things. Of course, the level in question is That One Level, with That One Boss at the end, so you'll be listening to it a lot. Not that that's bad.
  • And the remix.
  • The overworld theme of the second game is so... Mario.
  • This Orchestrated remix of the overworld theme almost sounds professional. And it's just beautiful.
• Another oft-remixed classic is the Airship Theme that debuted in SMB 3. Remixed for Paper Mario, already mentioned above, as well as Galaxy and even Smash Bros. Brawl.
  • The Galaxy remix was also reused in 3D Land.
• The Castle music in the various games. Super Mario World had some great castle music (and the Roy's Castle vocal version), but the music for New Super Mario Bros. was pretty good as well, if not catchy. See here. Or the remix which merges the castle and tower music.
  • This is a great trance remix of the castle music
  • This OC Remix is the most epic thing I've ever seen heard.
  • this acappella cover of the SMW castle theme is awesome.
    • same guy did this cover of SMW World 1 overworld theme, and the most Crazy Awesome.
• All of the 2D underwater theme songs They're just so beautiful and slow, but still recognizably Mario. This is Dire Dire Docks-levels of peace.
• Super Mario World. The credits, main overworld and athletic themes stand out the most. Here's the Super Smash Bros. Melee remix of the last one.
  • The Koopaling/Reznor boss music is also pretty awesome.
  • The music for the Bowser battle is sufficiently epic. Then Square-Enix remixed it for, of all things, the Near-Victory Fanfare in Fortune Street.
• Super Mario Bros. 3 is seen as some as the best Mario ever. The two overworld themes are pretty damn good too. Not to mention the Hammer Bros' theme.
  • That second one is in Galaxy. It is also reused in Super Mario 3D Land.
  • Here's a Tetris DS remix of the first overworld theme.
  • And one from Smash Bros. here.
• The second-most famous Mario theme around. The Underground theme!. Which has been remixed oh so many, many times... it's been remixed almost as much as the main theme!
  • The Galaxy remix was also reused in 3D Land.
• Super Mario All-Stars, being a Compilation Rerelease of the first four Mario games, naturally has remixes of the classics: SMB 1 & 3 Underworld, SMB Underwater, SMB Castle, SMB2 Overworld, and SMB3 Overworld, to name a few. However, it even has a few new tracks, such as SMB Bonus Level, SMB Bowser Battle, and SMB True Bowser Battle.
  • All-Stars's version of Super Mario Bros. 3's World 7 map theme only consists of a few notes, but boy is it catchy. That's not a bad thing, because the confusing nature of World 7's map as well as the difficulty of its levels means a lot of time will be spent on the map screen.
    • And then remixed for Fortune Street for every time you invest in stocks, which happens nearly as often.
• The Koopalings theme from Super Mario Bros 3. Not just the original, but also the remixes in Brawl, New Super Mario Bros DS, and New Super Mario Bros Wii (see below).
• Hear the Earwormy awesomeness that is SMB3's World One Theme.

Super Mario 64

• The first Bowser theme, and of course Final Bowser.
• Jolly Roger Bay and Dire, Dire Docks, very atmospheric underwater music.
  • One of the minigames in the DS remake uses a slower version of this song. It's even more relaxing.
  • For an outstanding MIDI remix, check out "Shoreline Melody" (do a search on this page.
  • This remix by MasterFury is pretty sweet too.
• Bowser's Road, which comes right before the Bowser fights. It's also somewhat reminiscent of Super Smash Bros. Melee's menu music.
  • And when Sega gets their hands on it...
• The awesome secret slide music (also used as the primary music for Tick Tock Clock and Rainbow Ride). The remixed version from Super Mario Galaxy 2 is down below.
• The theme played during the end credits. It really makes you feel like you've accomplished something.
• This amazing version of the "Underground" music. Funktacular.
• Metal Mario. It's the Starman theme from the original Super Mario Bros., turned Up to Eleven.
  • See also the Wing Cap theme. Take the Starman theme (an awesomely appropriate theme in its own right), and add a soaring violin melody over the top for pure awesome.
    • Incidentally, that violin melody predates Super Mario 64. It was used in the invincibility music in Yoshi's Island.
• The main theme as used in the first stage, Bob-Omb Battlefield (as well as Whomp's Fortress, Tall Tall Mountain, and Tiny-Huge Island) is pure awesomeness.
  • Sega's version.
  • As well as the Super Mario Galaxy 2 version, seen below.
• The hub music, so good Nintendo has remixed it for many subsequent Mario games.
• Go back, and listen to the File Select theme a few times. Let the memories soak back in.
  • This remix by HouseMasta, also heard in Super Mario 63, ain't half bad either.
• Cool Cool Mountain and Snowman's Land.
• Piranha Plant's Lullaby is quite lovely, particularly the piano version.
• Lethal Lava Land/Shifting Sand Land. Probably one of the most psychedelic pieces of BGM music to ever come out of a video game, and nothing short of awesome.

Super Mario Sunshine

• Delfino Square. Plain awesome.
  • Sega's winter version.
• Underwater Exploration. Simply beautiful.
• The Book in the Bottle. This series has some great underwater themes.
• Boss Battle Just what about the regular battle or..... Noki Bay
• And the final boss with the amazing piano.
• The Casino Delfino music is very fitting for its setting. It even appeared as a minigame theme in Mario 64 DS!
• Sirena Beach. Don't you just want to say "Screw the mission", park Mario on the beach somewhere and just chill out for a while?

New Super Mario Bros./Wii

• New Super Mario Bros. Wii has music so good even the enemies dance to it:
  • The hub music is simple and pretty catchy, but special mention goes to the World 9 Map theme, especially when the riff from Mario Kart 64's Rainbow Road kicks in.
  • The Beach, Volcano, and Castle themes.
  • The Forest overworld is definitely one of the most catchy songs in the series.
  • There's also the title music.
  • Their remix of 3's classic Hammer Bros. Theme!
• Most of the tunes in NSMBWii are remixes of the DS version's soundtrack, with the exception of the beach theme, the castle theme and the desert theme, which may be even more catchy in the DS version.
  • The castle theme is remixed and improved even more in Mario Super Sluggers as heard here
• Somehow, New Super Mario Bros. Wii's athletic theme makes accordions awesome. Here's the original on the DS, which is just as good.
• Both game's final boss themes are pretty dang good.
• The remix of the Koopalings theme from Super Mario Bros 3, an excellent remix of a memorable tune.
• Can you believe they actually orchestrated a medley of songs from NSMBW? They even have the "bah" down.

Super Mario Galaxy

• Bowser's battle theme, and the final boss.
• A good bit of the soundtrack of Super Mario Galaxy qualifies for this trope; particularly Gusty Garden Galaxy and the credits music.
  • In the same vein as the Gusty Garden Galaxy, the theme for the Good Egg Galaxy makes one feel like they're just beginning an epic journey.
  • And in the same vein as that, the Star Festival, which you hear before even going to the Good Egg Galaxy.
  • And though it's not actual in-game music, this fan-made 8-bit remix of the Gusty Garden theme is too awesome not to be shared. It seriously sounds like something from an NES version of Mario Galaxy.
• The Bunnies (a.k.a To the Gateway), which is the music you hear on your first spherical world - it's like a space lullaby. Simply beautiful.
• Speedy/Daredevil Comet in orbit - feeling under pressure from that time limit or life bar? Don't worry, this music is guaranteed to make you sweat much, MUCH more.
• Toy Time Galaxy. Anyone who has heard the main Mario theme will recognise this instantly. And it's awesome.
• Bowser's Galaxy Reactor was good music for the final stage, but Galaxy's remix of Koopa's Road from Mario 64 could have worked just as well.
• Buoy Base. Just... amazing.
• Melty Molten Galaxy deserves a mention.
• Catch the Bunnies, played at the Snow Cap Galaxy.
• And Purple Coins. A wonderful track played during Purple Coin missions. Which is a good thing, as some of those missions have an insane difficulty level and would be completely intolerable otherwise.
• There's also Space Junk Galaxy. A very peaceful, soothing track that's awesome in quite a different way. It's calming enough to make you want to drift off to a long, peaceful sleep.
• Battlerock Galaxy. The most insanely badass music in a Mario game, EVER.
  • And Peaceful Stars, a more ambient, spacey variation of the same theme.
• Under Attack. An incredible remix of the incredible airship theme from Super Mario Brothers 3.
• Kingfin / Bouldergeist. That is just insanely good.
• The Comet Observatory. What you don't get from the soundtrack version is that, much like the map screen music in Yoshi's Island, an extra line of instrumentation is added to it for each world that's opened up.
• Heavy Metal Mecha-Bowser. Giant robot toy army of DOOM!
• The Flying Mario Theme. A soaring theme for soaring Mario.
• Rosalina's theme has the feel of a lullaby from beyond the stars.
• The End, all of it.
• Ghostly Galaxy. It was even reused in Super Mario 3D Land.
• Honeyhive Galaxy. Makes you look like if you were a bee pollinating flowers. The Galaxy 2 version adds a muted trumpet.
• Bowser Jr's theme, which was reused for the Boomsday Machine battle in the sequel. It also for some reason contains a brief reference to the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games, especially before the music loops.
• Freezeflame Galaxy. It features two versions of the same music: one for the ice section, the other for the lava section. It was also reused for the sequel's Shiverburn Galaxy level.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

• Keep in mind that this game had a full orchestra.
• Even the title screen theme is fantastic, prepping you up for an adventure.
• This beautiful song that plays during the prologue which combines the Star Festival theme with the Gusty Garden Galaxy theme.
• The hub music. Just like the Observatory, its theme grows as you collect more Grand Stars.
• Some of the map themes also deserve a mention, such as World 3, World S, and World 1.
• Both versions of the first level, Sky Station.
• Yoshi Star Galaxy, a definite Ear Worm reminiscent of the Yoshi's Island games.
• Flip-Swap Galaxy. A simple, tension-filled remix of the SMB Underground Theme that knows its place as background music and lets you focus on the action.
  • On the other hand, there's the Beat Block Galaxy theme. While it's also a remix of the Underground theme, rather than staying in the background to let you focus on the action, this tune is the action: it appears in levels that change (such as gravity changing) according to the beat of the music. This has the effect of making the tune a massive Ear Worm.
• Fluffy Bluff Galaxy, A tune that very likely surpasses Gusty Garden in awesomeness.
• Puzzle Plank Galaxy. It seems that Everything's Better With Fiddles.
• Hightail Falls Galaxy, which remixes the Athletic theme from Super Mario World.
• Cosmic Cove Galaxy. Best Water Level EVER!
• Wild Glide Galaxy, a rather beautiful piece.
  • From later on, Fleet Glide Galaxy-- an epic song for an equally frantic level.
• The Slider music, remixed from Super Mario 64.
• The theme to Haunty Halls/Boo Moon Galaxies takes the Haunted House Theme from Super Mario World and makes it even scarier and more awesome at the same time.
• Starshine Beach Galaxy, a tropical Ear Worm along the lines of Super Mario Sunshine.
• Space Storm Galaxy, an incredibly foreboding tune.
• Slipsand Galaxy, a song perfect for the game's Shifting Sand Land.
• Throwback Galaxy. Best remix of the Super Mario 64 main theme ever! (Or Big Band Battlefield)
• Melty Monster Galaxy "Magnificent", indeed.
• Slimy Spring Galaxy's tune is simple, yet mysterious and calming.
• Another, more epic remix of Koopa's Road.
  • And for the Bowser Jr. levels, who needs a remix when you have this?
    • Both songs pale in comparison to the final level, Bowser's Galaxy Generator!
• The music for the Speed Run missions. Incredibly epic.
• The final boss theme. This is honestly one of the most incredible songs ever composed in a Mario game, screw it, in a Nintendo game, period.
  • Even the regular Bowser theme is spectacular, and like in the first game, it adds in a chorus when Bowser is vulnerable.
  • The Gobblegut battle theme is epic and tense, perfect for a fight with a giant space dragon. In contrast, the Megahammer battle music is surprisingly Ear Wormy, as is the boss theme for the fights against Digga-Leg and the Whomp King.
  • And then there's the Squizzard battle theme, which is a tense desert-themed tune, but what's really notable is that it has a unique mix of the Fire Flower theme!
• The credits music. Hell yes.
• The song that plays when you reach a star. Even after the most frustrating levels, this song manages to soothe and relax.
• The Grand Star Music definitely counts. Especially, if it's right after a tough boss like Gobblegut.
• Cloud Garden
• Digga Leg. Period.

Super Mario 3D Land

• The Final Bowser Battle! Suitably epic and fitting for said battle which involves climbing to the top of Bowser's crumbling castle while he does everything he can to stop you.
• The castle theme is up to par with the songs in the Galaxy series despite having synthesized instruments.
• The clock tower music is a mechanical Ear Worm for a mechanical level.
• This music makes the beat block levels something special.
• The attack theme which plays on the final Bowser castle.
• And then there's the main theme.
• The Beach music. That song is catchy~!

Mario Kart

• Rainbow Road in its many forms generally has awesome music to accompany it: the versions from Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Super Circuit, Double Dash (which includes a Musical Nod to the Super Mario Kart version in the introduction), Mario Kart DS, and Mario Kart Wii are all classics of the series. The Double Dash version was awesome enough to get into Brawl without being remixed at all, while the Wii version features MusicalNods to both the Mario Kart DS Rainbow Road music and the Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack.
  • Then there's heavy metal version. (link on Newgrounds)
  • The Rainbow Road theme is one of the only tunes to be used in a Mario platformer that didn't originate from a main series game: a subtle version of the theme is used for NSMBWii's World 9 overworld map.
  • All those versions of Rainbow Road have nothing on this one, from the F-Zero X Expansion Kit, released only in Japan for a failed N64 expansion. If you wanted to hear a rock version of Rainbow Road, here's your chance.
• While we're on Mario Kart music, Mario Circuit from the SNES, also used for the remade version of Mario Circuit 3 on Mario Kart Wii. Oh, and did I mention there's a Brawl Remix?
  • The classic Battle Theme from the original Super Mario Kart. So good, Mario Kart Wii just had to bring it back!
• The Mario Kart 64 credits theme is nothing short of tear-jerkingly beautiful.
  • Bowser's Castle from Mario Kart 64. It's practically awesome (especially with the haunting choir in the background), especially when you get to the final lap. Also, Bowser's Castle for the Nintendo Wii's also cool.
  • And who could forget the circuit theme?
• From Super Circuit we have Sky Garden (and on DS) and Cheese Land.
  • There's also Ribbon Road.
  • Instant awesome, just add GBA Bowser Castle 3 music. Even the original version from Super Circuit is awesome, especially for a GBA game.
  • Hey, how come the menu music isn't mentioned?
• Double Dash has quite a few, such as Balloon Battle, Baby Park, Waluigi Stadium, and Sherbet Land.
  • The theme for both Bowser's Castle and Luigi's Mansion is also awesome.
  • Tilt-a-Kart's music combines Baby Park with the Super Mario Bros. theme.
  • Sherbet Land is just as awesome in the N64 version.
  • Beating Mario Kart: Double Dash!! rewards the player with a final theme in the form of an amazing Jazz Piano rendition of the Main theme.
• Mario Kart DS has a remix of the Double Dash circuit theme, and an excellent Versus and Battle theme.
  • Other tracks which deserve mention include Luigi's Mansion, Tick Tock Clock, Airship Fortress, and Bowser's Castle.
  • And then there's Waluigi Pinball, as well as its Brawl remix. The icing on the cake: the sound effects on the Waluigi Pinball track (item box roulette, Lakitu displaying the lap number cards, passing another driver or taking the lead, etc.) are rendered in mock 8-bit sound.
  • The remix of the Mario/Luigi/Peach Circuit theme from Super Circuit. Dat bass line.
• The credits theme from Mario Kart Wii.
  • You gotta love Coconut Mall. And Koopa Cape. And Toad's Factory.
  • And Moo Moo Meadows. And Maple Treeway. And Daisy Circuit, and Moonview Highway, and Bowser's Castle (complete with Musical Nod to the castle theme from Super Mario Brothers at the very beginning), and...heck, pretty much every single track in MK Wii.
  • And the battle music isn't too bad, either; here's Thwomp Desert.
  • The tournament-only stage Galaxy Coliseum/Arena has some pretty awesome music.
• Several from Mario Kart 7. For starters, there's Wuhu Loop and Music Park/Melody Motorway.
  • And its own version of Rainbow Road. What's even more impressive, it matches incredibly well to a time trial well done.
  • Alpine Pass/Rock Rock Mountain, Neo Bowser City/Koopa City, Piranha Plant Pipeway/Piranha Slide, Wario Shipyard/Wario's Galleon, DK Jungle, Rosalina's Ice World, and the new Bowser's Castle are all awesome pieces.

Super Mario RPG

• The ever-epic Super Mario RPG: The Legend of The Seven Stars.
  • ALL of that game's soundtrack was amazing, but one of the last songs (Goodbye Geno, Dreams Though Window Stars) deserves special mention as one of the best in the game, perhaps any game.
  • The Forest Maze area's music, "Beware the Forest's Mushrooms" certainly qualifies.
    • Märta's fantastic rap/remix, "Rawest Forest," with a music video illustrated by Chris "Kirbopher15" Niosi!
    • Psyguy's "Waltz Of The Forest" with Niosi as illustrator and lead vocalist. (Full version here.)
  • Barrel Volcano.
  • The fan album Heavy Troopa is Ready to Launch! is chock-full of pure, distilled awesome. Especially all of Girlz Melon's contributions. And "Find the Top" is fun as all hell.
  • The Weapons Factory theme, as well as this awesome reimagining courtesy of radiowar of OverClocked Remix!
  • Booster's theme single-handedly took a downright silly character and turned him into a badass.
  • Plus the fantastic remix of the Mushroom Kingdom theme from Fortune Street.

Mario & Luigi

• The final battle music from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story manages to do the impossible: make Bowser heroic.
  • Fawful Castle, the final dungeon of the aforementioned Bowser's Inside Story, has a wonderfully haunting piece of music. Considering what Fawful Castle is, the song really fits the mood.
    • The song played inside Bowser (especially in the Airway) sounds cool as well, and can be heard here
• The final boss music of Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time is fairly appropriate when you realize where you are, what you're fighting, and why you're fighting it. It's a bit somber as far as Mario tunes go, but it's epic all the same.
  • Also the menu music from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, and the training tune, and this 13 second track when you go to the past.
  • The final battle of Superstar Saga is not exempt from this either.
• Yoko Shimomura's also got a real knack for leitmotifs. Fawful got a theme for Bowser's Inside Story, and it is gloriously catchy.
• The Teehee desert Theme. One of the best tunes in any level, ever.
• The credits theme from Bowser's Inside Story is a nice little melody of the songs from throughout the game, including the main theme at the end.
  • And of course there's the final end theme. You can't help but feel happy for Bowser.
• Gritzy Desert, the penultimate Partners in Time princess, the boss themes, all of them, BIS's minigame theme, Bowser's Castle, in all incarnations, Shrowser's battle, Popple's theme, Chucklehuck Woods, the Koopaseum, The Super Star theme...
• The regular battle theme from Superstar Saga, Cackletta's battle theme, Professor E. Gadd's theme
• The regular Plack Beach theme was already pretty good, but the second version with Mario and Luigi is...damn...
• Star Hill and Star Shrine: simply transcendent, especially after the...
• Toad Town theme, probably the darkest music (fitting of the area, also a contender) ever featured in a Mario Game.
• Thwomp Caverns from PIT.
• The Cavi Cape theme and the theme that plays when you're swimming in the lake are very soothing.

Paper Mario

• Paper Mario had an entire Crowning Soundtrack Of Awesome. Each boss fight had a catchy and well-suited composed piece:
  • Goomba King's theme
  • Koopa Bros' theme, a dark version of Super Mario Bros. 3's Hammer Bros theme.
  • Tutankoopa's theme
  • Tubba Blubba's theme
  • General Guy's theme
  • Lava Piranha's theme
  • Huff N. Puff's theme
  • The Crystal King's theme
  • Bowser's theme
  • Final Battle theme.
    • The miniboss theme is also great!
  • The level music Needs More Love. For starters, here's PM1's version of the Airship theme.
    • Shiver Mountain, Cold Reception in Shiver City AND Snow Road.

  • The "Level Up" music is a remix of SMB3's World 1 overworld theme.
  • Tubba Blubba's theme for his heart and his chase theme are pretty ominous and epic.
  • Raphael the Raven's Theme is a catchy and epic Ear Worm!
  • The Puff Puff Machine!
  • The Cloud Theme
  • The theme of The Master!
  • The themes related to the murder mystery in Shiver City.
  • Most of the themes related to the 7th Chapter were great!

  • Fire Up The Cannon. Plays when you get fired out of a huge-ass cannon TO THE MOON. After going through a long and tedious Chain of Deals quest to get the Cannon operating, the music makes everything totally worth it.
• Super Paper Mario should be added as well, if only because of Count Bleck's Theme
  • Pretty much everything involving Count Bleck could fit on this page. His battle theme, Castle Bleck, Birth of a Chaos Heart, and above all Champion of Destruction.
  • The final boss theme.
  • Outer Space. This piece of music is at Super Mario Galaxy level. It just can't get more awesome.
  • Mr. L. His theme was already incredibly catchy, and then made awesome for the remix used for your battle with him. The composers later topped themselves with the amazing remix used for your rematch.
    • And, of course, the battle against the one who created him, Dimentio.
    • Speaking of boss themes, the music for the Fracktail battle is pretty sweet.
  • And Lineland Road. Very interesting pick of classic Mario tunes.
    • And, on the same vein, The Open Plane. Retro never sounded so good.
  • Gloam Valley. This song is the first one you hear in Chapter 2, coming directly after you've beaten Chapter 1 and figured out the pattern of how this game is going to go. So in a way, the song is this SPM's way of saying "Okay. So you've learned the basics, so now it's time to start the quest for real. You ready? Good. Let's kick this game off.
  • Soft Light provides a level of epicness you just don't expect from Mario.
  • Promise. No better music for the end of Blumiere and Timpani's story.
  • Sammer's Kingdom
    • The Sammer Guy battle theme, appropriately titled "Battle Time", also counts.
  • Fort Francis fits its level quite well: vaguely techno, rather strange, and creepy without being so much as to be off-putting.
  • Chapter Five has two great level themes, Downtown of Crag for the first two stages, and Floro Caverns for the latter two.
  • Then there's the music for the later Mimi Battles. Suitably creepy and awesome.
  • Bounding Through Time, a beautiful piece...
  • How about the remix of any already awesome theme.
  • Bowsers Theme.
  • Merlee's Mansion.
• Even fanmade Paper Mario themes have their share of awesomeness. Take this fanmade final boss theme of the new 3ds Paper Mario game, for example.

Mario Party

• Mario Party 3's final boss game is definitely worth mentioning.
  • The themes from Spiny Desert and Chilly Waters are also pretty awesome.
  • As is the last Duel Mode theme, Creepy Cavern's theme, and the two Waluigi themes are pretty great too! Why does Waluigi get so many awesome music pieces?
• The Mario Party music actually makes one want to party. Examples: intro theme from Mario Party DS or Wiggler's Garden. Mario Party 7 also has some really awesome music .
  • What about Mario Party DS's final boss theme?
• Mario Party and Mario Party 2 had a lot of awesome music. For example, "The Room Underground," "Faster Than All," "Jungle Adventure," "Rainbow Castle," "Magma Mountain," and "Eternal Star."
  • Luigi's Engine Room! It's fitting for a place with man mechanical things, but it is also very cheery!
  • The Credits Theme from Mario Party 2. So beautiful...
  • The song from Bowser's Land. It could be used for any one of Bowser's normal levels.
  • World 8 & 9 of the Mini-Game Coaster
    • Coaster World 2, 5, and 7 are also nice to listen to. Particularly World 7 which is good as that world has many hard minigames.
  • Also, Horror land and Space Land are particularly nice to listen to.
• Yoshi's Tropical Island from Mario Party 1
• It's just a short jingle, the title theme of the fourth game is quite catchy.
  • Then there's these three tracks.
  • Are you ready? Let's roll the die!
  • This one is beautiful.
• And then there are the mini-game tracks...
  • Mario Party, the first:
    • The Main Theme, which is appropriately catchy and cheerful.
    • Let's Go Lightly, most notably found on Bobsled Run and an epic tune for the ride down.
    • This funky remix of the classic Underground theme.
    • The Wide, Wide Ocean.
    • Eternal Star, a song fitting for the final board in the game.
  • Mario Party 2:
    • Keepin' on the Path, 100% Ear Worm.
    • Going Somewhere, used for this game's version of Bobsled Run and has much the same feel to it.
    • Walking Underwater, used for underwater minigames and one secret minigame.
    • Dancing Star, used in "Move to the Music".
  • Mario Party 3:
    • What To Do!?! As the title suggests, it's the perfect song for those more tense games.
    • Nice and Easy, similar to Let's Go Lightly/Going Somewhere but with more of a space feel.
    • Fighting Spirit really get's you into the game and has a competitive but cheerful feel to it.
  • Mario Party 4:
    • Loud and Sweet, 100% Ear Worm Ver. 2.0.
    • Full of Vigor, another epic-styled tune.
  • Mario Party 5:
    • Bustling Noisily, similar to What To Do!?! in atmosphere and simply awesome in its own right.
    • Serious Competition.
    • Exciting Walk. Exceedingly catchy.
  • Mario Party 6:
    • Doom and Gloom, which provides exactly the atmosphere that its title suggests.
    • Fast and Furious, used for all the Battle minigames and also provides exactly the same atmosphere as its title suggests.
    • Relaxed is one the best mini-game tracks in the game.
    • Warming Up, the theme that plays during a mini-game's introduction.
    • Clockwork Castle. It's quite an epic theme in both the day and night.
  • Mario Party 7:
    • Darkness Rising, another tune fitting of its title and the games it goes with.
    • This game also has its "epic-style" tune... in two different styles! Skyward Bound for a more energetic style and Don't Look Down for a more laid-back style.
    • The real star of this game, though, is Bowser's Revenge. One of the most frantic and intense BG Ms out there, for some of the most frantic and intense mini-games ever devised for the Mario Party series.
  • Mario Party 8:
    • It's A Dead Heat, or Mario Party does guitar. And it is good.
    • The "scary, tense" minigame music has always been great, and Proceed Without Fear is no exception.
    • And also Feeling Cyber, Happy-Go-Lucky,Friendy Competition and How To Play Minigames.
  • Mario Party 9:
    • Be Careful!, you really do need to be careful here because of the music.
    • Go Crazy! Catchy.
    • Freshen Up!, also you can hear a very familiar and well-known theme here.
    • Fun Times, you're having these when you're listening to this.
    • Which Is It, this will make you think.
• Bowser Station from Mario Party 9 has an epic song that is reminiscent of Eternal Star from the original.
• The Minigame Mode provides some decent music here:
  • Mario Party 9:
    • Free Play, plays during the Free Play mode. Free Play 2 is the same thing but has a cool intro with it.
    • Step It Up, plays during the Step It Up mode.
    • Garden Battle, plays during the Garden Battle mode. Garden Battle 2 is the version with the intro.
    • Choice Challenge, plays during the Choice Challenge mode. There is another tune you should recognize just by listening it.
    • High Rollers, plays during the High Rollers mode.
    • Time Attack, plays during the Time Attack mode.
    • Boss Rush, plays during the Boss Rush mode.

Sports (Golf, Tennis, Soccer, etc.)

• The intro theme from Mario Power Tennis.
  • And by the way, Mario Tennis: Power Tour has some great tunes too.
  • TIEBREAKER!!!
• Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour has the Lakitu Valley theme. Which is then remixed for Advance Tour as the Links Course theme.
  • While we're on the subject of Toadstool Tour, this Lakitu Valley theme and Bowser Badlands are pretty cool themes.
• Gene's Theme! Both the GBC and the Advance version! Quite powerful themes even if they aren't very loud!
  • Both versions of Putt's Theme as well.
  • Tiny's theme, both the GBC version, and the Advance version!
• Both the pre-golfing theme and main theme of Speed Golf from Mario Golf 64 makes you tense, but also makes you excited at the same time!
• Also, Mario Golf 64's Main Theme!
• Wario Factory in Mario Sports Mix is just amazing to listen to.
  • Waluigi Pinball (which is not the same song found on Mario Kart DS) is also really awesome, especially how it has different tones that it transitions into.
  • Koopa Troopa Beach
• Luigi's theme in Mario Strikers Charged Football: Just listen to it for a minute.
  • From the same game, Waluigi's Theme! Awesome and hilarious!
  • Also, Peach's theme. Expecting a soft, dainty theme for a Damsel in Distress? She's much more like Badass Princess in this game.

Wario Land 3

• The Staff Roll Theme from Wario Land 3. Also, this fan-remix.

Wario Land 4

• The awesome Title Music!
• Inside the Pyramid is suitably haunting.
• Hall of Hieroglyphs is very catchy.
• Mystic Lake is calm, but has an ominous feeling to it.
• Monsoon Jungle is very calm and soothing.
• The Curious Factory is pretty ominous.
  • The clear version used in Paper Plane (a Wario Ware microgame) is awesome as well because is has no sound effects or stuff interfering with the theme.
• Toxic Landfill is just rocking epic, but also insanely catchy!
• 40 Below Fridge
• Pinball Zone
• Toy Block Tower is pretty whimsical but also conveys the fun that's going on in the level!
• The Big Board has a pretty laid-back but cheery feeling to it.

• Fiery Cavern has a very epic feel to it.
• Hotel Horror, unlike Crescent Village, has more of a whimsical funny style.

• The Room before the Boss!, a haunting foreboding theme.

• The Princess Theme (around 1:44) is kind of heartwarming, but also gives you a sense of accomplishment!
  • As does the Credits Music, which also remixes some of the above songs into one epic ending medley!

Wario: Master Of Disquise

• Wario Master of Disguise has some pretty awesome music too, including Count Cannoli's battle theme, Carpaccio's battle theme, and the Allergia Gardens theme.

Wario Land: Shake It

• Wario Land Shake It has some pretty nice music such as Glittertown/Neon City, Derailed Express, Bad Manor and the theme from Slipshod Slopes which is very Christmas like.
  • And also the Lowdown Depths Theme, as well as the Hot Roderick Race theme.
  • Just Plains and Bamboozle Village.

Other

• Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix. Every. Single. Song.
  • For a specific example, the Waluigi dance-off song Destruction Dance!
• The Mario & Zelda Big Band Live concert is a live concert of Mario and Zelda music arranged and covered by a big band. Predictably enough, each and every one of the Mario tracks is in itself a crater-sized vat of raw, pure, concentrated, high-density, undiluted AWESOME.
• Dr. Mario! Both main gameplay themes, Fever and Chill are well-known to fans of the series, and even the mode select song deserves mention.
  • Naturally, Fever and Chill have been remixed several times, and have recently been given two other companions, Cough/Cube and Sneeze/Que Que
  • One of the few cases when they changed it, but now it rocks. Custom soundtrack of the ZX Spectrum homebrew port.
• The Mario Paint theme.
  • The epic Mario Paint theme remixed!
  • Gnat Attack's first stage will have you playing from the start over and over again.
• For your listening pleasure, a song from a game not made by Nintendo, in which Mario does not appear, remixed for a game by another company that isn't Nintendo. It still belongs here. Starring Wario!, DDR Mario Mix's take on the first stage theme from Wario World.
• Even Mario Is Missing! (SNES version, at least) gets a piece of awesome audio. Just listen to the catchy Super Mario World theme mix that is the Moscow/Cairo music.
  • The PC version also has some good tunes to listen to! Primarly, the song that's played in Madrid, Spain. (Which, by the way, isn't in either the NES or the SNES versions.)
    • Well, sort of. The PC version is basically an extended mix of the SNES Mexico theme, which is excellent in its own right.
  • While we're on the subject of SNES Mario Is Missing music, the Beijing/Tokyo and the Athens/Nairobi themes are also pleasent to listen to.
• Luigi's Mansion credits. That is all.
• Mario vs. Donkey Kong has a few outstanding pieces. In particular, there's the third Spooky House theme, the Mini Mario Level theme that would become the theme of the series, and the awesome TRUE final battle with DK.
• This fan-made medley/remix/batshit insanity thing is so awesome it deserves the spot even being totally non-official.
• The Super Mario 64 Can-Can and Red Zone Remix. You can find the latter on the page it links to.
• Another fan-made melody/remix that is supposed to celebrate Mario's upcoming 30th anniversary. Pretty. Dang. Awesome.
• Luigi's Mansion 2: Dark Moon has some great music, such as the trailer theme. No version without sound effects apparently.
• Wario's Woods had some pretty catchy tunes:
  • Round Mode.
  • The single-player campaign/Versus Mode.
  • Hell, even the main menu.
• Mario Pinball Land has some pretty nice music, like the Puffer Cheep Boss theme, Bowser's Themes and the theme for King Tut which seems to be a remix of the Culex theme from Super Mario RPG.
