The Changemen
Hiryū Tsurugi/Change Dragon | Actor: Haruki Hamada
The leader of the team. A star baseball pitcher with the trademark technique Dragon Ball (not THAT. Or that.). He tends to get emotionally invested in cases he's involved.
- Chick Magnet: Despite not even trying, he has most girls to link with. Mostly with Nana, but he's also teased with Sayaka, and later developing links with Shiima after her Heel Face Turn.
- Dynamic Entry: DRAGON KICK!
- The Hero
- Law of Chromatic Superiority: Has the Dragon Ball, Dragon Kick, as well the most link with the aliens.
- Our Dragons Are Different
- Ship Tease: With Sayaka in Episode 19.
- Shock and Awe: Dragon Thunder
- Standardized Leader
Shō Hayate/Change Griffon | Actor: Kazuoki Takahashi
The sub-leader of the team, as well as Handsome Lech, whose trademark style is to comb his hair, sometimes in the middle of battle. At first joining the army just to get the girls, he develops from it.
- Butt Monkey: Is usually the butt-end of light-hearted mistreatments.
- Dishing Out Dirt: Griffon Magma Galaxy
- Handsome Lech: And how.
- Hey, It's That Guy!: Takahashi would go on to play the sidekick of another guy also named Tsurugi.
- The Lancer
- Name's the Same: Hayate's name would later be used as the name for the hero of SNK's game Savage Reign (you know, that guy with the giant boomerang who later became a sub-boss in The King of Fighters XI).
- Our Gryphons Are Different
Yūma Ōzora/Change Pegasus | Actor: Shiro Izumi
Probably the youngest of the team as well as a weapon expert. Is pretty good at handling children and animals, but has the most fragile heart, causing him to get a mental breakdown at one point. Is a horrid singer.
- Adult Child: Not too childish, but yeah.
- Dreadful Musician: Ergh... To be fair, it helps against a Monster of the Week, though.
- Heroic BSOD: At one point when they lost their power, he thought he got called by Earth Power, despite his friends convincing him otherwise. Turns out they're right, proving that he got a mental breakdown.
- Hey, It's That Guy!: Shiro Izumi. 'Sup, Burai?
- Kid Appeal Character: Alongside his ability to get along well with kids and animals, he's the most fragile mentally, falling to Heroic BSOD at one point.
- Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: Feminine Boy to Mai's Masculine Girl.
- Pegasus
- Reverse Grip: How he holds his Change Sword.
- Shock and Awe: Pegasus Inazuma Spark
- The Smart Guy: Despite his fragile personality, he is a weapon expert.
Sayaka Nagisa/Change Mermaid | Actress: Hiroko Nishimoto
The brain of the Earth Defense Force and a sticker to etiquette and manners, pretty much a 'Miss Perfect'. She's a motherly type and like Tsurugi, tends to get involved emotionally in her missions. Usually teams up with Mai.
- Acting for Two: A Monster of the Week has the same voice as her, then she also looks like Prince Icarus' mother.
- The Chick
- Making a Splash: Mermaid Typhoon Wave and Mermaid Big Wave.
- Our Mermaids Are Different
- Panty Shot: Thanks to her rather short skirt.
- Ship Tease: Episode 19, with Tsurugi.
- The Smart Girl: Not only is she the obvious 'brain', but she keeps her emotions more in check.
- The Strategist
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: Girly Girl to Mai's Tomboy.
- Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Only appearing once, but she did sucker Mai once with faking a cry.
- Wrench Wench
- Yamato Nadeshiko / Proper Lady: Etiquette, motherly, kind, is said to be a 'good mother'.
Mai Tsubasa/Change Phoenix | Actress: Mai Ooishi
Tomboyish, light-hearted officer, who tends to get underestimated due to her sex. She's best friends with Sayaka even though sometimes her 'prim and proper' feel kinda gets on her nerves.

- The Danza: Mai played by Mai Ōishi.
- Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: Masculine Girl to Yūma's Feminine Boy.
