Earth Federation

Kou Uraki

An Earth Federation pilot who joined up after the One Year War, beginning the series as an aggressor pilot used in testing and training. He quickly ends up Falling Into the Cockpit of the GP-01 and begins chasing Anavel Gato across the entire Earth Sphere.

• Adult Child: At first, such as showing more interest in mobile suits, missing cues that Nina likes him, has to force himself to eat carrots.
• Badass: Matures into one.
• Awesomeness By Analysis: He's quite good at improvising on the spot.
• Crowning Moment of Awesome: Dueling with the Nightmare of Solomon, even using the Gundam's own foot as a shield, and ending it in a draw. Also how he kills Cima.
• Does Not Like Carrots
• Heroic BSOD: Suffers one early on.
• Reverse Grip: Holds his beam sword like this to stab it through GP-02's neck.
• Too Dumb to Live: Trashing the GP-01.
• Took a Level in Badass: Started off as a rookie and then became a MAN OF DESTINY.

Chuck Keith

Kou's best friend and fellow aggressor pilot, he ends up in a GM Cannon II after the GP-02 is stolen. Much more laid back and casual than Kou, he's also much less skilled, which makes him something of a Butt Monkey among his fellow pilots.

• Beta Couple: With Moira.
• The Leisure Suit Larry: Mostly with Nina though.
• No Guy Wants an Amazon: When his first efforts to flirt with Nina result in Moira coming on to him instead, he's quite frightened off by the fact she's more imposing than he is in every way. Subverted around halfway through the series, when they are seen going out and it's implied become a couple soon after.

South Burning

A veteran of the One Year War, Lieutenant Burning is the commanding officer of the team that includes Kou and Keith, acting as piloting instructor and general mentor. After the theft of the GP-02, he's made the commander of the Albion's entire mobile suit forces, though he generally fails to keep his Military Maverick pilots under control.

• A Father to His Men
• Badass: Slugging a much larger mobile suit with a mere GM and then cutting back to the end of the battle.
• Cool Old Guy: by the standards of the frequent teenage Gundam pilots he's pretty old.
• Depending on the Artist: He was depicted as being in his badly aged forties appearance wise in the show itself, though all other media that depict his appearance have ranged from merely making him look a bit older than his squadmates to looking almost ancient.
• Darkskinned Blonde
• Dropped a Bridge on Him.
• Informed Flaw: One commander called Burning a pervert in episode 2. We never see Burning act like a lecher. The only time he's with a woman is when the ship docks in Von Braun City. This might just be his old unit's reputation rubbing off on him.

The Immortal 4th Team

Burning's old unit during the One Year War, consisting of Bernard Monsha, Chap Adel, and Alpha A. Bate (yes, really). Now stationed on the Albion, they join the hunt for the GP-02 after Gato successfully escapes Torrington Base with it.

• Ace Custom: All of them use customized GM's and Guncannon models.
• All Men Are Perverts: Monsha is enough of a pervert that he could fill the role for the entire Gundam universe.
• Badass Mustache: Monsha has one in the source canon, but its rendered more prominently in Super Robot Wars Alpha.
• Jerkass: Monsha and how!
• No Indoor Voice: Monsha.
• Running Gag: Monsha's Ted Baxter ways always wind up biting him on the ass.
• Those Two Guys: Chap and Alpha.
• Too Dumb to Live: Monsha.

Eiphar Synapse

The captain of the Albion, an older man without much familiarity with mobile suits. Upon being assigned to retrieve the GP-02, he becomes caught up in events, eventually becoming the primary force in opposition to Operation Stardust.

• Can't Hold His Liquor: He keeps it in the infirmary and has the medic dole it out in manageable amounts.
• Driven to Suicide
• Reasonable Authority Figure

Jamitov Hymem

• Ambiguously Jewish
• Big Bad: Ultimately, since this is a prequel to Zeta Gundam. the entire plot was a setup by him and what would become the Titans to manipulate the Zeon's remnants desire for revenge to their own purposes for seizing control of the Earth military, with him being the one to neutralize the one Earth Federation admiral who figured it out.

Zeon

Anavel Gato

An Ace Pilot known as the Nightmare of Solomon for his part in the Battle of Solomon during the One Year War, Gato reappears to Gundamjack the shiny-new nuclear-equipped GP-02 as part of an Evil Plan to bring the Federation to its knees. He gains a rivalry with Kou over the course of the series.

• Ambiguously Jewish: Anavel is apparently Hebrew for "Humble servant of God" or something like that.
• Base Breaker: Some fans think he's the epitome of manliness and honor. Others think he's a rabid attack dog who'd kill his own mother if Gihren or Delaz ordered him to do so.
• Badass
• Large Ham: Solomon, I have now returned!
• Wide Eyed Idealism: Honestly believes in the nobility of Zeon and it's overall goals.

Aiguille Delaz

The leader of the Delaz Fleet and the ultimate mastermind behind Operation Stardust, Delaz represents the largest group of Zeon loyalists left in the Earth Sphere. Utilizing his limited resources to the greatest possible effect, he works with Gato and Cima to achieve his goals.

• Badass: He knows what he's doing is a suicide mission and he's likely gonna be one of the first bodies to be atop the pile of corpses. He's still willing to risk his life for Operation Stardust.
• Self Fulfilling Prophecies: What Operation turned out to be in part. He wanted to expose the corruption of the Earth Federation. They would oblige him posthumously.
• The Men First: He's not one to throw away lives when they don't need to die needlessly. His last words to his own men are essentially to survive.
• Wide Eyed Idealism: A slightly more realistic take than Gato. He's just as much a zealot, but he realized towards the tail end of the One Year War the Zabis were a tire fire he was better off leaving to die, but he still believes Zeon itself was worth saving and reviving.

Cima Garahau

A Zeon commander loosely allied with Delaz, she works with him for now, but obviously serves only herself. Brass and austentatious, both Delaz and Gato dislike her intensely, but are forced to work with her because of the forces she commands. For her part, she's not too fond of them, either.

• Early-Bird Cameo: Gets one in 8th MS Team, although only via All There in the Manual. She's the pilot of the colony-gassing Zaku I that appears in Shiro's flashback.

• Foreshadowing: Her appearance is one for her role in Zeta Gundam.

Civilian

Nina Purpleton

Not technically part of the Earth Federation military, Nina is the engineer from Anaheim Electronics in charge of the Gundam Development Project. As such, when the GP-01 is unexpectedly sent into battle, she works closely with Kou. Their relationship is... interesting.

• Tomboy and Girly Girl: The girly girl with Mora's tomboy.

Mora Bascht

A mechanic from Anaheim, she works with Nina, maintaining the Anaheim Gundams and providing her with moral support. She takes an interest in Keith early on, and the two can be found in each other's company frequently throughout the series.

• Amazonian Beauty: Tall and muscle-bound, and very charming in a tomboyish way
• Beta Couple: With Keith.
• Dark-Skinned Redhead
• Hot Amazon: While at first she frightens Keith off by being bigger and stronger then he is, they go out on a date in the seventh episode and end up being the Beta Couple after that.
• Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: She stands head and shoulders over Keith. Of course, she's taller then most guys on the ship in general.
• Tomboy and Girly Girl: The tomboy with Nina's girly girl.
• Wrench Wench: Nina's the programmer and designer, but she's the one who actually builds and repairs the tech.

Kelly Layzner

A one-armed former Zeon pilot now living on the moon, he is secretly in league with the Delaz Fleet, covertly repairing a massive mobile armor concealed in the junk yard where he lives.

• Char Clone: While not as much as the others, he is a blond who pilots a red mech.
• Giant Enemy Crab: His Mobile Armor Valvaro has a definite crustacean feel to its design.
• Handicapped Badass
• Ho Yay: With Kou.
• Retired Badass: For a while.
