• Beautiful All Along : Shinobu, convinced that she's hideous due to the mental abuse of her parents (And others), has no idea that when her hair is actually brushed and she isn't wearing baggy men's clothes, she's quite pretty.
• Berserk Button : Try and tell Shinobu she'll never measure up to Atsuki. Go ahead. I dare you.

• Break the Cutie : The "dress" incident.
• I Just Want to Be Beautiful : Despite being the tomboy of the roleplay, Shinobu would give anything to be one of those girls who can wrap a guy around her finger. She'd even side with the Director to acheive this goal.
• I Just Want to Be Loved : More than anything, Shinobu just wants her parents (and Masato eventually Yasunori) to love her. That's actually the only reason she even wants to be beautiful.
• Meaningful Name : Shinobu was given this sexless name because her parents wanted a son not a daughter. Also, Shinobu means "endurance" referencing the emotional and physical abuse Shinobu had to endure throughout her childhood.
• Raised as the Opposite Gender : Full Stop.
• Shock and Awe
• Tomboy
• Training from Hell : Shinobu's father used her "training" as a way to get away with being physically abusive. Even now she doesn't get that was his motive, although she's still very scared of him.
• Tsundere : Look to any instance where Shinobu reacts with Tsura (her best friend) or Masato (her love interest) for a clear example of this.
• Wholesome Crossdresser : Perhaps "wholesome" isn't the best way to describe Shinobu, but she doesn't merely dress in a boyish fashion. She doesn't own a single article of women's clothing aside from her underwear.
