  • Accidental Innuendo: Frequently, which is especially funny because he has many very young fans who would never even notice - if he didn't stop to dwell on the innuendo he'd just made every single time.
    • At one point, he claimed that he makes too many innuendos in general, especially in Real Life, and would start trying to cut back - but he was back at it again in the very next video.
  • Ass Pull: On the game's part- At one point in Emerald when he's losing a battle and reduced to his fire-type starter, the game decides his next opponent is Marill who has not one, but two effective moves, costing him the win.
  • Awesome Music: At the ends of his Majora's Mask videos, he features a ZREO remix of a song from the game relevant to the events of the episode. And, in general, he tends to pick pretty good music whenever he needs to speed up footage or make a montage, often using rock covers of video game music by CarboHydroM and CSGuitar89.
  • Creepy Awesome: His profile icon during Majora's Mask, and his one for Pokémon Emerald to a lesser extent.
  • Discredited Meme: Steve the Trooper. Chugga hasn't named any Pikmin Steve in his Pikmin 2 LP, and heavily implies that he is tired of all the fan attention the throwaway gag got. Though he indirectly made jokes about him during the LP, even in the finale. This trope is officially Zig Zagged Trope.
    • Chugga now acknowledges Steve exists, but he has a spirited reaction when someone other than himself (usually Proton Jon) brings it up.
    • He ends up bringing the meme up again in his Pokemon Emerald LP when he ends up fighting PokéManiac Steve, especially after this exchange:

Steve: Don't forget what you've done to me! I'll make it so you can't forget!

Chugga: ...Oh my God! HE'S OUT TO GET ME! HE WANTS TO GET REVENGE ON ME FOR HOPING HE WOULD DIE! NOOOOOOOO! HE'S FOREVER REGISTERED IN MY CELL PHONE! Ahhh...we found a Carbos, that'll raise overall speed...oh my God, I gotta start sleeping with one eye open...

  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Steve the red Leaf Pikmin for being a trooper once had a Facebook page.
    • In the finale of Pikmin 2, after going the entire game trying to mention him as little as possible, he gives in and lets him have the honor of carrying the lightweight and final treasure in the game.
    • Slavinator (his Zigzagoon HM Slave) is the fan favorite of his Emerald team for similar reasons as Steve, but not to the same extent. Fans must've learned how Chuggaa takes things like that.
  • Fandom Rivalry: Chuggaa's fans vs. Slim Kirby's fans. Slim and Chuggaa themselves aren't hostile at all, though, with Chuggaa even referencing Slim pretty often in The Runaway Guys' Mario Party LPs.
  • Fan Dumb:
    • A very large and vocal portion of his fanbase is made up of preadolescent boys, who can be just as annoying as you might expect. They even have a collective Catch Phrase of their own, which many people quote when they want to mock his fandom: "CHUGGAA!" Yes, that's it. They just shout his name all the time.
      • True to form, he lampshaded this by referring to his audience as a bunch of six-year-olds.
    • At one point during the Mother 3 Let's Play, he called out his fans for acting very rude about a somewhat androgynous-looking fanart of Kumatora that had been made especially for the LP, and was onscreen for only a few seconds.
    • He also got aggitated by his fans during Majora's Mask at all the complaints about his video length being fifteen minutes when, as a YouTube partner, he can go up to several hours.
    • If you say that you're not enjoying a current project (even if you only think it's a tiny bit worse than his usual standard), you clearly hate Chuggaa and want to ruin everyone's fun, according to comments.
  • Funny Aneurysm Moment / Mood Whiplash: In Part 48 of the Pokémon FireRed LP, Chugga joked how trainers and their monsters should just die to save him the annoyance of dealing with them. Two seconds later, he bumped into a guy mourning his Onix.
  • Funny Moments: Has its own page.
  • Growing the Beard: In-Universe, sorta. He says Super Paper Mario starts getting better in Chapter 3.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight/Harsher in Hindsight:
  • Ho Yay: Played for laughs when he and Proton Jon sing "A Whole New World" for a donation at The Speed Gamers marathon, which can be seen right here. It was so popular, they followed it up with "Can You Feel The Love Tonight". Yes, really.
    • A few moments with Jim in Majora's Mask. Later parodied with Francis of Super Paper Mario, where he (jokingly) chooses the options to have Mario call him irresistible and a stallion.
  • It's Short, So It Sucks: What some of his fans cry whenever he posts video that are usually less than twenty minutes long. He calls them out on it when he points out that for some of his earlier LP's he couldn't even go past ten minutes due to the Youtube limit restriction at the time, so they should be happy that he can post longer videos now.
  • Memetic Badass:
    • Steve.
    • His Majora's Mask LP has a lot: Jim, Deku Link's spit, the Postman, and himself as Goron Link.
    • His Zigzagoon in Pokémon Emerald (who is named Slavinator) is slowly becoming one, by staring down at Brawley's Makuhita while ACOOLTENT (Chuggaa's Tentacool) chipped away the last of its HP via poison sting. It gained four levels just by staring at him.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Steve The Red Pikmin. Regretted and sometimes Lampshaded by Chuggaa.
      • Chuggaa lampshaded this with Bulby the Bulbmin.
    • The "No coin left behind movement", much like Steve, Chuggaa regrets saying it and thinks his fans are absolutely insane for actually doing it.
    • If you see someone doing the Russian dance in a similar manner to the Redeads in Ikana Castle and someone else starts singing MOSKAU! MOSKAU! I DON'T KNOW THE FRIKIN' WORDS!, you now know why.
    • Legendary Gerbils was born when Chuggaa got annoyed at people contesting that the three legendary beasts were always referred to as dogs/cats, mentioning this on a forum is a good source of Internet Backdraft.
    • There's a picture going around of the time Emile made a funny face during a StephenVlog video.
    • Fountain of Memes: His team in Pokemon Emerald so far already have a page on Facebook for his Lombre and at least two pages for his Zigzagoon, Slavinator.
  • Moment of Awesome: Has its own page.
  • Most Annoying Sound: His penchant for screaming at the top of his lungs and freaking out over small things at the drop of a hat can really grate your nerves in a hurry.
  • Narm / Wild Mass Guessing: When he talks about the "theme" of Majoras Mask along the lines of Link getting progressively less small and scared. It's not a bad idea, but it's largely Wild Mass Guessing since there's no real evidence of this, taking a lot of the meaningfulness and emotion out of it since it's really just Chuggaa's made up theory. It's not helped by the fact that part of the theory relied on Link's personal feelings, and none of which are ever displayed and doesn't really contribute much to the game.
  • Never Live It Down:
    • Like Proton Jon and "move faster pokey" before him, Chuggaa has the same negative reaction whenever the name 'Steve' is mentioned near him.
    • On the giving end, Chugga pulled one on fellow LPer The Khold One in Pokemon Fire Red: in Khold's LP of the game, he traded a Spearow for a Farfetch'd only to complain about how much the Farfetch'd sucked. Chugga eventually names his Spearow Khold to show him what "he could've had". Considering how awesome the Spearow [1] is, it freaking works.
  • Nightmare Fuel: At one point during the final hours of a three-day cycle in Majora's Mask, Chuggaa stops to appreciate the music (which is creepy in itself), but then he turns the music up louder for the viewer to hear it better. The thing is though- he mistimed it in editing so that the song blasted louder out of nowhere right over the part with him saying he'd turn it up.
    • The intro for this video from his Mother 3 LP. It borders on a Jump Scare after the viewer has grown accustomed to the series' usual intro. Mind you, even if you take the element of surprise out, it's still pure, unleaded Nightmare Fuel.
  • Nightmare Retardant:
    • Trying to make conversation with the moon while he's bored and waiting for aliens to attack the ranch. "...read any good books? Ah, the chapter in the bible on the apocalypse. Ah."
    • There was also the Tanetane island Mushroom Samba from Mother 3, in the game, it's utterly horrifying, Chuggaa ruined it by acting like a stoner through the entire thing.
  • Ruined FOREVER:
    • Some people weren't happy with his choice to LP Majora's Mask.
    • Some fans were also turned off when he LP'd Okami.
    • And Super Paper Mario has been the most polarizing yet. Given his new habit of playing games he feels are dark-horses in their series, you can expect a lot of this who think he could be doing a more popular game.
  • Serious Business: He takes background music very seriously. At one point in Pokemon Emerald, he has called the person in charge of assigning certain songs to certain locations an idiot for having a happy song play outside of a cemetery location. A bit much, given that the location's role as a travel route had priority.
  • "Stop Having Fun!" Guys: In Pokemon Emerald, he seems to treat using items in battle as cheating.
  • Unfortunate Implications: He does tend to (jokingly) insult females a bit too much.
  • Viewer Myopia: Chuggaa mentions this in regards to the news and gaming, and has his own personal version where they should know all the technical ins and outs of game hardware as he does.
  • Watch It for the Meme: Some people who've subscribed to him later on went back to watch Pikmin just to see who this Steve person everyone talks about originated from.
  • Weird Al Effect: Searching for "Move Faster Pokey!" in the YouTube search bar now yields "move faster pokey chuggaaconroy" as the second most popular search.
  • The Woobie: Chuggaa himself. His deleted 50 facts video revealed that he had four siblings that died in miscarriages, he nearly died from an allergic reaction as a kid, and he was bullied in school. He's also admitted that he was only pretending to be enthusiastic in his Super Mario Sunshine LP since he had been worrying about health problems during it.
    • Iron Woobie / Stoic Woobie: He doesn't talk about it or let it stop him from being the goofy, nerdy gamer we all know and love.
      • Parodied by lamenting the apparent death of a Koopa in Chapter 2-1 of Super Paper Mario, how the Koopa drowning instead of getting jumped on was the saddest thing ever.
