Chaos Fighters is a Web Serial Novel series by User:Murazrai which currently span four story arcs:

  • Chaos Fighters,or the Main Series a serial novel series set at Lefrad about eight chosen ones to obtain their own total of seven (actually eight) holy weapons. Each of the weapons is located at separate realms. The novels are added with character poems, side stories/spinoffs and miscellaneous information. Currently span four novels:
    • Chaos Fighters-Route of Land, a novel about Syrfan Sigmeund, a soldier who is ordered by his king to search one of the holy weapons.
      • Chaos Fighters-The Castle Order, a spin-off which tells the happenings in Norch city right after the main characters left the place.
      • Chaos Fighters-Robbery Assault, another spin-off which tells a mission of saving two countries from an attempt to unify them.
      • Chaos Fighters-The Old Gunner, a short story of how a man get his beloved by getting rid of his problem.
    • Chaos Fighters-Route of Sea, a novel about Serene Foltaf, a gunner who gets her MacGuffin in her dreams and sets to investigate its existence.
      • Chaos Fighters-Mistress Trouble, a flash fiction depicting how Kairos Ceradig met Creise Astra prior to Route of Sea.
      • Chaos Fighters-Weaponry Disaster, a short story about the main characters except Serene defending a clan from being eliminated.
      • Chaos Fighters-Route of Land=Redone, a rewrite of Route of Land. Currently serialized.
    • Chaos Fighters-Route of Earth, a novel about Tefia Rypal, a guild member who specialize on transporting goods sends a package which turned out to be her MacGuffin.
      • Chaos Fighters-Tunnel Mayhem, a short story which tells about how the side characters in Route of Earth fend off the returning smugglers, which turned out to be a demon invasion in disguise.
    • Chaos Fighters-Route of Peaks, a novel which which chronicles Cogra Hazran on his journey to clear the sins of his father as a chosen one.
    • Chaos Fighters-Sacricity is Not Commodity, a guest post by Wysteria about how the expedition to obtain the electrum armor failed.
  • Chaos Fighters: Cyber Assault-The Secret Programs, about the struggle of the guardian project, a governmental research project to create sentient digital beings while fending off the Black Raider gang. This novel is told from the group's officers point of view. Cancelled, but a rewrite from scratch with possible change of plot is currently in consideration. The original idea can be read here.
  • Chaos Fighters II, a special story arc which consists only with NaNoWriMo entries.
    • Chaos Fighters II-Cyberion Strike, a NaNoWriMo 2009 entry, set in a distant future from the above novels. It is about Irtial Kofe, an officer who is in vacation suddenly forced to help in eliminating a cyber crime group, which is turned out to be a secret plan by a wanted criminal planning to destroy a city.
    • Chaos Fighters II-Chemical Siege: a NaNoWriMo 2010 entry in which Enrei Islio fight against chemical hollows while dealing his personal problems.
    • Chaos Fighters II: Historical Chronicles-Beyond The Earth: a NaNoWriMo 2011 enrty in which covers the origin of Muranyl and Cephyone.
  • Chaos Fighters: Chemical Warriors, a special story arc which consists only with We Se Wri Mo entries.
    • Chaos Fighters: Chemical Warriors-KIMIA, a We Se Wri Mo 2010 entry, set sometime during the main series. Potassium iodide was smuggled and stolen. Zetta Zocto and Yotta Yocto are tasked to regain them alongside with some allies.
    • Chaos Fighters: Chemical Warriors-RAKSA, a We Se Wri Mo 2011 entry. The only think known about this is Rakion Kalsa is missing while the seabed is polluted with mercury. Muranyl Kizrai, Mifrent Migant and Gireon Arkof are seaching him.

Tropes used in Chaos Fighters include:
  • A Boy and His X: A teenage and his guardian in The Secret Programs.
  • Abnormal Ammo: Spears, swords and feathers can be used as gun bullets in Route of Sea.
  • Aliens Speaking English: Explained here.
  • An Adventurer Is You: Despite the main series has nothing to do with video games(despite Syrfan in Route of Land did mentioned about stats once and never again after that), most characters' classes were mentioned using Fantasy Character Classes. The jobs included up to now ranging from generic knights, magicians, lancers to unique ones such as biologist, farmer, bomber and so on. Justified that the fighters are licensed in-universe so their job classes can be identified.
  • As Long as It Sounds Foreign: One of the features in this web serial novel series. The only normal sounding name is Kenny Fanal in The Secret Programs and Clair Tyranof in Route of Land. Considering that all planets in this series set in alien planets, this might justified.
  • Author Avatar: Muranyl Kizrai. If you notice, that is actually expanded upon in the author's pseudonym. His name is Murazrai. This is confirmed in Beyond The Earth, where he commented that the plot in the installment is something that he wrote "a year ago".
  • Badass Bookworm: Thene and Etlisk are Ph.D holders before they become police in Cyberion Strike.
  • Battle Couple: It's easier to list characters that does not come as this and they are all Official Couples. Lampshaded in Route of Earth and Chemical Siege. He even said that someone is messing with them, which arguably refers to the author.
  • Bilingual Bonus: While RAKSA is the nickname of Rakion Kalsa, Malay speakers can tell that this novel revolves around mercury.
  • Blade on a Stick: Sword lances. Some swords are at both ends of the stick.
  • Calling Your Attacks
  • Canon Discontinuity: Xanga version of Chaos Fighters-Route of Earth, due to the author tries to fix it in the Booksie version. The left out character names are still valid, though. Then, a planned rewrite named Route of Land=Redone will substitute that version as canon.
  • Card Game: One is being made as story material.
  • Chinese Vampire: Appears as an enemy in Route of Earth.
  • Clothing Damage: See Defeat by Modesty below. There are instances in other novels, but in a lesser extent.
  • Common Tongue: English for the entire universe. See aliens speaking English above.
  • Colon Cancer: Averted. There is only one colon and the other subtitles are connected using hyphens.
  • Darker and Edgier: Route of Earth compared to Route of Land. There was almost zero comedy, the demons succeeded in invading some countries (which the heroes were trying to reclaim) and the plot is more linear.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Played straight in Route of Earth and likely to be continued in subsequent novels.
  • Defeat by Modesty: Subverted. Etliz's clothes were burned after getting tricked in her fight with Etlisk in Cyberion Strike, but he quickly put them off by using a water based attack. They fall in love with each other afterwards, despite Etliz was still the villain at that time.
  • Dude in Distress: Rakion Kalsa in RAKSA.
  • Double Entendre: A few in Route of Earth:
    • "How about something we usually did before?" told by a man to his ex-wife. Followed by
    • "You are just as great as the day you married me," two chapters later with the same people.
  • Double Weapon: A common weapon type that usually exists in every novel.
  • Elemental Crafting: A common trope used. Some of them are usual for a fiction (pure metal and alloyed equipment) to absurd (metal threads and composites made from radically different constituents). It's hard to imagine when one can create a composite material which is made from gemstones, metals,concrete, wood and fiberglass.
  • Elemental Powers: Played straight, with Power Levels involved (with some exceptions):
  • Expansion Pack World: Every new series/installments are set in different areas/planets.
  • Expressive Shirt: More like expressive armor, which Riak wears one in Route of Earth. It turns cold when in fear and burns when under anger.
    • Another example is Leon's formal wear, which turns black whenever he suffers from damage.
  • Fighting Your Friend: Waryl is the last opponent of the holy trial in Route of Sea, who is the first guy who joined Serene and her lover as well.
    • Erzax and Sileay did this to Enrei and Gareia in Chemical Siege as part of a date.
  • First-Name Basis: The characters refer each other with their first names. Even the web serial novels were written this way, except the Chinese characters, which are last name basis.
  • Fun with Acronyms: KIMIA means Kalium (potassium) Iodide Missing In Action. Doubles as Bilingual Bonus. See gratuitous local language below.
  • Gratuitous Local Language: Specifically, gratuitous Malay (the author is Malaysian, hence the local language.) Examples such as:
    • A character named Kasim in Route of Earth. The proper name would be Kassim, though.
    • The machetes variants, parang and golok in Route of Earth.
    • Riak, which means ripples or proud. A character with that name in Route of Earth was exactly called ripple, which references the former meaning.
    • Wak, a slang referring to a man taking care of a shop and used as such in Route of Land.
    • The cursed saints in Route of Peaks are based on numbers in Malay Language. Their prototype, Belas, is a pun, which is the "ten" part in numbers 11-19 in Malay.
      • The final opponent in the holy trial from the opponent, Sifar and her alternate form, Kosong both means zero.
    • KIMIA is the Malay word for chemistry.
    • RAKSA cranked this trope up to eleven with gratuitous Kelantan and Terengganu accented Malay as early as the first chapter.
  • Heel Face Turn: CD in Cyberion Strike around midway and Oslanak with Kalen in The Secret Programs.
    • Etphan Signis pulled this off after being defeated and fought Thanic Snader in Chemical Siege.
  • Hijacked by Thanic Snader: In Chemical Siege, the moment Etphan Signis made his heel face turn, which is hinted before.
  • Human Aliens: The only Earth people exists in this novel series until now is Irtial and Muranyl from Cyberion Strike
  • Idiosyncratic Episode Naming: Perhaps to make some correlation, the chapters in the main series novels are called paths, while in Cyber Assault chapters are called files. Averted with II and Chemical Warriors, the chapters are named as such.
  • Impossibly Cool Weapon: Missile shooting tonfas with blades on the missiles? Check. Boomerang with gun modules inserted? Check. Guns with blade attached on a barrel? Check. Knuckle gripped swords? Check. Blades on double ends of stick? Maces with spikes that can emit laser beams? This web serial novel series is full of bizarre weapons and might go to Serial Escalation direction.
  • Internal Homage: The t(h)undra attack in Cyberion Strike was repeated in Route of Earth.
    • The human shockwave from the same novel was repeated in Route of Peaks.
  • Invincible Hero: Every single one of them. The worse the battles get is getting severely crippled before a Deus Ex Machina saves them.
  • Late Arrival Spoiler: Chemical Siege casually spoils a few things about Cyberion Strike, namely Muranyl is from earth and Thanic's involvement of his crime.
  • Loads and Loads of Characters: Inevitable as every novel feature completely new characters save for a few recurring ones in II.
  • Love At First Punch: Etlisk and Etliz in Cyberion Strike. See Defeat by Modesty above.
  • Love Makes You Evil: Kalen in The Secret Programs.
  • MacGuffin: The holy items.
  • Magic Knight: A common character in the series, but most notable among them are Syrfan from Route of Land
  • Mana: Called as aura particles, but they can be partially explained by quantum mechanics.
  • Man Behind the Man: Thanic Snader in Cyberion Strike.
  • Meaningful Name: T(h)undra is an ice dragon with thunder pulses around it. Tundra is a frozen climate, thus the ice. If dissected, thun refers to the thunder while dra means dragon.
    • Switch the brackets and you'll get thu(n)dra, a thunder dragon with ice around it. The way of getting the meaning is similar.
  • Mission Pack Sequel: The main series. the plot of the novels are almost the same, i.e. obtaining the MacGuffin and pass the holy trial to qualify as a warrior to go against the demon lord, despite the sub plots are totally different: Route of Land feels more like an adventure novel with a few villains unrelated to the demons, Route of Sea has pirates, Route of Earth has smugglers plus demon invasion and Route of Peaks gives cursed saints with mountain bandits, with the demons totally absent.
    • However, the "sequel" part of this tropes is averted (for now), because they happened around the same time.
  • Mix-and-Match Weapon
  • Modest Royalty: Clair in Route of Land wears commoner's clothes.
  • Monster of the Week: More like enemy of the day, but there are exceptions, partially due to Schedule Slip.
  • Morph Weapon: Cogra's pen in Route of Peaks. Its extended laser blade can change forms, including a shield and a firing pod.
  • Myth Arc: The main series.
  • Next Sunday A.D.: Beyond The Earth is a NaNoWriMo 2011 entry set in 2012.
  • No Loves Intersect: Almost all protagonists come with couple pairs. The only Love Triangle exist in KIMIA gets a Pair the Spares treatment in the end.
  • Not Quite Dead: Thanic Snader is still alive and the dead bodies are actually copies.
  • Non-Linear Sequel: II is not a sequel to anything, but a large Time Skip which none of the characters in the main series or The Secret Programs appear.
  • Oddly-Named Sequel 2: Electric Boogaloo: II. Despite the number, it is a Non-Linear Sequel.
  • Oddly Small Organization: CD in Cyberion Strike, which has only four members.
  • Older Than They Look: Enrei. There is a reason why he is called the 8 year old man.
  • Our Angels Are Different: The are called saints. Angels, however exists as an inferior form of saints. Even they live in separate realms.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: Skull eastern dragon? And it spit acid?
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: The hollows. They are materialized souls of the dead. Some of them even made out of matter such as metal.
  • Our Gods Are Greater: A robotic god in Cyber Assault. It is even called the god of data. The rest are just as normal.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: Vampires do not suck human blood.
  • Pietà Plagiarism: Subverted in RAKSA that Rakion was alive and woke up in Mifrent's hug.
  • Post Cyber Punk: The Secret Programs and Cyberion Strike.
  • Recycled in Space: Chemical Siege is KIMIA 100 years later in a different planet.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Clair in Route of Land is the princess of Oszer while Selia in Robbery Assault is her mother, i.e. the queen of Oszer. Shefan in Route of Land is the head of royal affairs division (ministry) in Hafnal.
  • Rule of Cool
  • Schedule Slip: Tends to happen as the main series will be stopped for We Se Wri Mo and NaNoWriMo projects, but the most big ones are the creator's hiatus from August 2010 to July 2011 and December 2011 until now (scheduled to be resuming by February 2011).
  • Sdrawkcab Name: Oslanak in The Secret Programs. And it is a girl, mind you. She name herself intentionally to show her partnership with Kanalso. It helps that their respective observers are husband and wife.
  • Shapeshifting Lover: Xadio, a bat and Orzofia, a gargoyle to Formalin and Hefin respectively in Route of Earth. How they can shapeshift is not explained, though.
  • Shout-Out: Lord Viper in Cyberion Strike.
  • Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-Trailer: Almost everyone in KIMIA.
  • Sidekick Ex Machina: In Route of Earth Gellene saved Esfo just in time by interrupting an attack.
  • Spin-Off: Some of the sidestories in the novels of main series. A few are actual side stories. The Secret Programs and Chemical Warriors is a spin-off to the main series of sorts as well.
  • Sword Beam: Otherwise called slash waves. Wind based slash waves are razor winds though. In fact, it is possible to slash an enemy and launch one at the same time.
  • Sword Plant: A common way to launch magical skills.
  • Take That: Enrei comments that white phosphorus was used by some bad guys, which is a nod to the Israeli forces using white phosphorus on Palestinians around 2010.
    • This makes the humanitarian aid ship a nod at the Flotila ship which was attacked by the same forces.
  • Taking the Bullet: Zetta did this when the potassium iodide crystal weapon was fired for the third time in KIMIA.
    • Gareia did the same thing with at the last chapter of Chemical Siege, causing Enrei to gone berserk.
  • Talking Is a Free Action: Dialogues are uttered when the character fights.
  • Teacher-Student Romance: Thene with Irtial prior to Cyberion Strike, Pheryl with Kenny in The Secret Programs and Enrei with Gareia in Chemical Siege.
  • Title Drop: The attack that Thanic Snader launched on Crasio city is called Cyberion Strike
  • Theme Naming: Averted for most novels, but exists in two novels:
    • Cyberion Strike:
      • Irtial Kofe are made by joining the symbols of iridium, titanium, aluminum, potassium, oxygen and iron.
      • Thene Estyne: Thiol, Alkene, Ester, Alkyne.
      • Elene Bofer are just electron, neutron, boson and fermion joined as two words.
      • Forva Rucal is a variant: FORTRAN, Java, Ruby and Pascal.
      • Thanic Snader is another variant: Thallium, Arsenic, Snake and Spider. They are all poisonous, matching his villainous character.
      • Delsic Peon: Delphi, BASIC, Perl, Python.
      • CD: Programming languages C and D.
    • KIMIA:
      • Zetta Zotto: 10 to the power of +/-24
      • Yotta Yotto: 10 to the power of +/-21
      • Exa Atto: 10 to the power of +/-18
      • Peta Femto: 10 to the power of +/-15

  • The Starscream: Harlion after Ortla decided to surrender in RAKSA.
  • The Unpronounceable: The author himself found out that his own pseudonym, Murazrai, is this in real life, prompting himself to use an alternate name to ease things.
  • The Verse
  • Tournament Arc: The competition at Syn village in Route of Land and the holy trials in every novel of main series.
  • True Final Boss: Lampshaded with Chemical Siege's final two chapters, aptly named True Final Conforntation after Thanic Snader being revealed the actual villain.
  • Understatement: "It's a bit late to hear this exactly from myself, isn't it?" This is the exact words from Frelean Maleau in the beginning of Chemical Siege after she confessed her love to Enrei before she dies.
  • Victorious Childhood Friend: Fie to Syrfan in Route of Land.
  • Weapons Kitchen Sink: The series as a whole, but the novels to an extent.
  • Weapon of Choice: There won't be a fight for a character without one. However, they can switch theirs at their own will, making it averted.
  • Winged Humanoid: The saints and some angels. Also, Gareia Kikva, only in special chapters available through email request.
  • Word of God: The miscellaneous information and the author's personal journal.
  • Word Salad Title: Cyberion Strike and KIMIA. See Title Drop above for the former.
  • Xanatos Gambit: In Cyberion Strike, Thanic Snader use CD as a distraction to the police while planning to destroy the city.
