- Action Girl: She's part of a rebel group fighting some invaders about five times her size, 'nuff said.
- Aliens Speaking English: Due in part to Kakei's translator (her natural speech sounds like chirping), but still.
- Afraid of Needles: She also has a fear of surgery and death.
- Berserk Button: Kakei can be a little spirited sometimes, especially if you get her angry.
- Cute Bruiser: She's tiny, she's cute, and she can really pack a punch... er... kick.
- Dont Call Me Short: This can really set her off.
- Fragile Speedster: Kakei prefers speed over defense any day.
- Genre Savvy: Kakei watches a lot of movies and TV shows from all over.
- Humanoid Aliens: She's an alien and she's humanoid... need I say more?
- Higher-Tech Species: Her species, the Etea, have civilian space travel, energy weapons, translating devices, and pieces of technology that can change a person's shape.
- Little Miss Snarker: Kakei can be highly sarcastic when she wants to be... which is often.
- Little Miss Badass: Kakei might be 4'6", but she can still kick your ass.
- Little People: Kakei's species is usually under 5 feet tall with some variation.
- Lotus Eater Machine: One of her goals in entering the tournament.
- My Greatest Failure: The reason why she entered the Tower... all will be revealed in due time.
- My Greatest Second Chance: The Tower presents this to her.
- Small Girl, Big Gun: If she could have carried a bigger gun into the OCT with her, she would have.
- Survivors Guilt: Because of her greatest failure, she also has a bit of survivor's guilt.
- Tentacle Hair: Kakei's "hair" is composed of many tiny antenae, that serve the practical purpose of picking up changes in air pressure.
- Wrench Wench: Kakei is an all-purpose mechanic, but more specifically builds guns.

- Partial Transformation: Setas can shapeshift into "demi-forms", where he retains a human shape, but gains added animal abilities, i.e. wings or the ability to breathe underwater.
Shikyo Akayami and Jack Tayian

- Shikyo is an ill tempered, hot headed Catgirl Bounty Hunter that persists in finding the person who killed her loved one. Love Makes You Crazy as they say.
- Jack is an anthropomorphic dog character that follows Shikyo loyally, despite the obvious threats she's shown to give him. He searches for Shikyo's targets and seems to hide in the background.
- Action Girl: Shikyo.
- Badass Normal: While mythical creatures, Shikyo and Jack are relatively "Human" creatures. No super powers as we know of in any form. And They're going to take on a tournament in the universal archives.
- Berserk Button: Shikyo does not want to hear you tell her that her mission is meaningless.
- Brains and Brawn: Jack is the brains, Shikyo is the brawn.
- Butt Monkey: Of most fan art of Jack, he's usually seen overpowered by Shikyo. Not that it's too far off, as Shikyo seems to frequently ignore and threaten him according to the audition comic.
- Cat Smile: More like a cat frown in Shikyo's case. She rarely smiles to begin with.
- Nai on the other hand does this throughout most of the audition.
- Cowardly Sidekick: Jack, oh so much.
- Guns Akimbo: Shikyo's means of fighting. She wields two bayonet pistols of different bullet types, colored red for the normal bullets, and blue for the laser bullets.
- Hypocritical Humor: The entire audition comic seems to build up just how hypocritical Shikyo is.
- "I'm not going to some silly get together a bunch of battle crazed detectives are invited to!" just a page ago she talked about how she took out a target because he badmouthed her.
- "Obssessed over a hunk of tech. How shallow can you be?" What's Shikyo's biggest drive again? Oh yes, revenge.
- Jerkass: It's practically in Shikyo's bio.
- Names to Run Away From Really Fast: To those who don't know, "Shikyo" means "Death" in Japanese.
- Scars Are Forever: Jack has a nice cut running from his cheek down to the side of his throat.
- Jack appears to be missing an eye, if his eye patch amounts to anything.
- Universal Driver's License: Shikyo seems capable of flying a helicopter... until she crashed it besides the Tower.
- What Could Have Been: There's implications that another group of characters were considered for this tourney. But they were busy and Shikyo took the call.
- Great-Leo had explained he was originally going to have the duo crash INTO the Tower.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Shikyo.
- Youkai: A notable feature of the duo, Shikyo's listed as a bakeneko (Monster cat) and Jack is listed as a bakeinu (Monster dog). Thing is neither seem very powerful in the magic department. In their audition, their perky bartender "Nai" points out that all sorts of youkai exist in their dimension.
