• Ultimate Gamer 386 is not the go-to guy for all forms of MS-DOS entertainment.
• The Uncanny Valley has nothing to do with a creepy geographical location, though I had to visit the page twice before I remembered that.
• Undead Horse Trope does not deal with Zombie Horses (not that there's anything wrong with them).
• Unexpected Reactions to This Index is not about the ways we didn't expect people to react to a certain index.
• The Unexpected isn't related to The Spanish Inquisition.
• Unfortunate Implications do not refer to the possibility that someone might be so awed by a Crowning Moment of Awesome as to get a heart attack.

• Unnecessarily Large Interior is not related to the TARDIS (for that, see Bigger on the Inside)
• Unnecessary Combat Roll has nothing to do with Dungeons & Dragons. Unless you're a rather descriptive roleplayer. Nor does it concern Rock's sister being a Joke Character in Marvel vs. Capcom.
  • This isn't what you get if you press Z or R twice when not being shot at.
• Unstoppable Rage does not imply the existence of Godlike Rage or Wicked Sick Rage.
• UST is not short for Unoriginal Sound Track.
  • Or Underground Storage Tank.
  • Nor is it a time zone.
  • Nor does it have anything to do with UTAU sequence files.(".ust")
• Unscaled Merfolk is not about the tendency for mermaids to all be human-sized, no matter the size of the actual fish of which they are supposed to be half.
• Unwanted Revival isn't about... Well, an unwanted Revival.
• Urban Legend of Zelda is not saying that Eomer is playing Link in the film. Curses.
  • On the brighter side, it's not about modernizing the series, either. Though we are eyeing those trains suspiciously...
  • Nor does it refer to a hypothetical installment in which the overworld is one big city.

• Vapor Trail is not the trail of information (previews, screenshots, advertisements, etc.) left behind by a Vaporware product.
• Vasquez Always Dies is not about what would happen if Jhonen somehow ended up in any of his fictional worlds.
  • Nor does it mean Dee Vasquez shows up in a later episode as a murder victim.
• Vector Game is not referring to Vectorman. Or Knuckles Chaotix or Sonic Heroes or...
• Verbing Nouny has nothing to do with the fact that all nouns can be verbed.
• The Verse isn't about the part of a song that precedes the chorus. It has nothing to do with poetry, either.
• Victim of the Week is not about a serial killer who makes sure to kill somebody once every seven days.
• Video Game Long Runners aren't necessarily in the continuous runner genre (e.g. Canabalt, Rayman Jungle Run).
• Video Game Stealing isn't about taking someone else's video games. That's closer to Digital Piracy Is Evil.
• Viewer Gender Confusion isn't about shows whose fans are mostly Gender Benders.
  • Or about productions that cause the audience to question their own genders.
• Viewers are Morons is sometimes Truth in Television, but that's only partly the point of the trope.
• Villain Ball isn't a dance for villains, or a sport played by them.
• Villain Shoes has nothing to do with jackboots.
• "The Villain Sucks" Song is not limited to Vampire Musicals.
  • And "song" is not an Unusual Euphemism.
• Villain Team-Up is not to be confused with Enemy Mine.
• A Villainous Demotivator is not a Motivational Poster with Darth Vader and the words "FAITH: I find your lack of it disturbing."
  • But it is to be confused with Legion of Doom.
• Viral Marketing has nothing to do with a certain Beastman.
• Visual kei is not a Microsoft programming tool.
• A Vocal Minority is not an ethnic stereotype.
• The Voice is not an article about the philosophy of the Greybeards.
• The Voice of the Legion will not usually say "Hail Caesar" or "S.P.Q.R"
• Voices Are Mental is not about characters being committed due to hearing (or believing they're hearing) voices; it's not about insane voices, and it's not about your inner monologue either.
• A Voodoo Shark is not one that is used for jumping.
  • But suddenly introducing one may well cause Shark-Jumping.

• WAFF has nothing to do with the Wife Acceptance Factor (the likelihood that any new tech toy or gadget placed in your home will get you chewed out by your wife). And it's not about waffles, either. Not necessarily, at least.
• Waif Fu has nothing to do with Azumanga Daioh.
• "Wake-Up Call" Boss isn't about calling in sick to work, or an employer who wants to make damn sure you're not late to work again.
• Walking Shirtless Scene is not a scene where a person walks shirtless, but a person who is a shirtless scene.
• Wall Banger is not about the drink called Harvey Wallbanger, nor is it what you do when you want the people in the next room over to quiet down. Neither is it the wall-performed variant of headbanging or getting violated by a wall.
• The Walls Have Eyes does not refer to walls which have pictures of eyes painted on them.
  • Nor is it a sequel to The Hills Have Eyes.
• War Is Hell is not about the anti-Valhalla.
• The War On Straw was not begun by people suffering from hay fever.
  • Nor is it when the author stalwartly refuses to use a strawman and instead makes a thoughtful character with disagreeable political/religous views.
• Warrior Poet is not about warriors who write poetry. (Although a couple of examples in the trope page do involve warriors who write poetry...)
• Wasted Song isn't a song sung while drunk.
• Watching a Video Game is unrelated to the popularity of Let's Play.
  • Nor does it refer to video games that have so many cutscenes you feel that you're watching more than you're playing.
• Watch It Stoned is not a suggestion to watch a show while suffering the Biblical era punishment of stoning.
• You Watch the Paint Job by being careful around a vehicle, not by watching Paint Drying.
• Wave Motion Gun is not about guns powered by vigorous handwaving, though a lot of them probably are. It is not about guns that make waves move either.
  • And it's not the same as the proton packs form Ghostbusters or the wiggly rays from Mom and Dad Save The World.
• Wave Motion Tuning Fork is not about the actual tuning forks that Anti-Monitor and Alexander Luthor used to break the universe up into itty bitty pieces.
• Waxing Lyrical is not what Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha does.
• Weapons That Suck is not about lousy or useless weapons.
• Weapon Tombstone is not about using tombstones as weapons (like that odd World of Warcraft axe).
• We Are Team Cannon Fodder is not a Redshirt Army who created a witty collective name for themselves.
  • Nor is it a Fan Nickname for Torchwood.
• Webcomic Time is not the time of day when your boss has gone to lunch but you're still at your desk.
• We Could Have Avoided All This Discussion has nothing to do with avoidable conversations.
• Weenalized is not when a character turns into a big weenie. Badass Decay is pretty close to that though. It's also not about analyzing the obscure adventure game Ween: The Prophecy.
  • Nor is it about the band Ween
• We Have Reserves is not an argument against the Peak Oil theory.
• If We Will Not Use Photoshop in the Future, the implication isn't that we've given up Adobe products in favor of free software alternatives such as GIMP.
• A Weapon of Mass Destruction is not a fat-burner or a weapon used by terrorists to attack Catholic Masses. But some of them do create energy by destroying mass.
• Weapons Kitchen Sink is not about using things found in a kitchen sink as weapons, nor is it a sink where you wash your weapons after battle.
• "Weird Al" Effect is not an Artificial Intelligence machine malfunctioning. It's Weird AL, not Weird Ai.
• Welcome Back, Traitor isn't a little-known Welcome Back Kotter spinoff where Mr. Kotter returns to his job as a New York teacher after briefly defecting to the Soviet Union.
• Welcome to Corneria is not what Fox McCloud giving you welcome. Or what he says after taking down your ship.
• A "Well Done, Son" Guy did not just cook his male offspring for a relatively long time.
  • Nor is "Son-Guy" what the father calls his kid, although the familial relationship implied by that trope is often pretty frosty.
• As Werewolf Works says on its page, it's not about a werewolf that does a job. It's also not a page that says that it's always a good idea to include a werewolf in a story, nor does it say it's a good idea to become a werewolf yourself.
• Western Animation does not necessarily take place in The Wild West.
• Wet Sari Scene is not what happens when Yuki Oshima writes an episode of Transformers Animated. Nor does it have anything to do with Phantasy Star III. It does have to do with people, usually hot women, getting wet.
• A Wham! Episode does not guest star George Michael (the singer, not the Arrested Development character), Andrew Ridgeley or Stephen Gaffney. Nor does it necessarily feature music from them.
• Whammy is not the old guy who ran the orphanage where Near and Mello lived.
• What Could Have Been Discussion has nothing to do with unavoidable conversations.
• What Do You Mean It's for Kids? is not the response when a fan of the 2003 TMNT series discovers which company produced it.
  • Similarly, What Do You Mean It's Not for Kids? is not the reaction of someone watching Pokémon for the first time since 2006.
• The page formerly known as "What Do You Mean It's Not Awesome" was not about tropers debating if an entry belongs on Crowning Moment of Awesome.
• What You Are in the Dark has jack all to do with monsters that attain their "true" forms in the absence of light.
• What a Drag has nothing to do with crossdressers.
• What the Fu Are You Doing? may involve Buddhhist martial arts, but it has nothing with impersonating Guatama Sidartha or any of his most famous apostles and students.
  • And it has nothing to do with sincere questions about the martial art a particular character may actually be practicing.
• What Happened to the Mouse? wasn't that it got replaced with a touch screen.
• What the Hell, Hero? is not the brand new game in the Guitar Hero series where you play a WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!
  • It's not a morally questionable hero (but rather a reaction thereto).
  • It does not describe Jack Burton
• What the Hell, Player? doesn't mean someone who plays games based on an unenthusiastic "what the hell" whim.
  • It is also not about one of The Casanova's lovers giving him a What the Hell, Hero?.
• Wheel-O-Feet is not about the Roving Mauler from Dungeons & Dragons.
• When All Else Fails Go Right is not about the popular maze-solving method of following a single wall.
• Where the Hell Is Springfield? is not about trouble locating a certain ten-year-old wizard who works as a teacher. Or his Disappeared Dad.
• Whip It Good has nothing to do with attempting to correct behavior.
  • It does if you're doing it right...
• A Whip Pan is not a pan that can separate its handle into sections to whack people from afar. And Whip Pan is not a distant relative of Peter Pan.
  • It is also not a pan to make delicious desserts in.
• White Dude, Black Dude is not the same as Salt and Pepper.
• A White Dwarf Starlet is not an actress who is small, hot and dense (not for another twenty or thirty years, at least). Nor is she necessarily White or have dwarfism.
• White Gang-Bangers is probably the name of a porn series somewhere, but you won't find that on this page (or anywhere on this wiki).
• A White Magician Girl isn't a magician girl who is caucasian.
• The White Void Room is not located near the cold steel room or the just sword room.
• Whoring isn't about prostitution, though we honestly can't blame you for the confusion.
• Who Needs Overtime isn't one of the work tropes.
• Who Watches the Watchmen? is not a request for the audience demographics of the movie adaptation of Alan Moore's comic.
• Why Do You Keep Changing Jobs? is not about job systems in RPGs that let you do that.
• Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things is not about users of the website FANDOM not having have nice things.
• Widget Series has nothing to do with Widget the World Watcher.
  • Nor does it have anything to do with a bunch of small programs that can be downloaded and used by the Opera Web Browser or that Vista sidebar.
  • Nor does it have to do with anything else that's called a widget in Real Life.
• The rival of a WikiPuma is not a WikiAdidas.
• William Shatner Speech isnotabout... people... speakingjust... like... THIS.
• Wind Is Green has nothing to do with wind-power being the main source of energy in The Future.

• WMG does not stand for Wave Motion Gun. Though the effect some WMG have on your sanity may be similar.
  • Nor is it the company who wants to remove their and their artists' existence from YouTube and therefore popularity and real life.
• Wolverine Publicity has nothing to do with the University of Michigan, Morris Brown College, or any other school with a wolverine as its mascot.
• A Womb Level is not a home base. Although they occasionally throw players into the fetal position, it's generally not a good place for the player character to assume one.
• Wooden Ships and Iron Men is not about Marvel 1602.
• A Woolseyism is not a peculiar habit of the current commander of the Atlantis Expedition.
• Word of Dante is not about witting lines from a certain White-Haired Pretty Boy.
  • Nor is it Word of God from Prince Zuko's Voice Actor.
    • Nor is it about something said by Dante. Or any other Dante, for that matter.
• Word of God is not about The Bible.
  • And that was not a Take That.
• The Worf Effect does not imply that Klingons were violent because their language lacked the word for "Peace".
• The World Is Always Doomed does not mean that Dio Brando will lose every time.
• The World Is Just Awesome is not about thinking that Dio Brando and/or his Stand is cool.
• World of Cardboard Speech is not a speech about a world constructed, literally or metaphorically, of cardboard; nor is it a world in which speech is so constructed.
  • Nor does it indicate universally bad dialogue/acting.
  • It also has nothing to do with a particularly bizarre Hannibal Lecture from a Nietzsche Wannabe who is just downright weird.
• A World of Ham is not a form of Level Ate.
• World Half Empty is not a world where half of the human population has been zapped out of existence. It's also got nothing to do with the hollow Earth theory.
  • The same goes for A World Half Full.
• The Worm That Walks is not a caterpillar, centipede, or any other crawly thing with a bazillion little legs.
  • And it certainly has nothing to do with Earthworm Jim, even though he is a worm that can walk.
• Would Hurt a Child: Is about child physical abuse and the aversion of Infant Immortality. It doesn't encompass psychological or verbal abuse.
• Writing for the Trade has nothing to do with writing something for someone because they wrote something for you.
  • It doesn't refer to writing for your industry peers instead of the fans, either.
• Written-In Absence and Written-In Infirmity don't refer to the state the author was in when writing the episode.
