Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.


This sub-division of the Tokimeki Memorial Character Sheet is dedicated to characters having appeared in the Hanegasaki Saga of the franchise, i.e. Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 2 and its spin-off games and drama CDs.

Teru Saeki

Voiced by: Masakazu Morita

The main hero of the Hanegasaki Saga. Unlike most main heroes though Teru's personality is rather different. On the outside to everyone he appears as an all-rounded guy, good at studying, sports and other activities and outwardly friendly. However, in reality, this is a facade, as he does not want people to learn about the "real" Saeki. Only the heroine discovers his "real" personality which can be quite aloof yet kind at other times. He also works at Sangosho Cafe with his grandfather, and the heroine finds this out upon her first meeting with him as she needs directions for the school. Later, Teru recognizes her at school and takes her to one side not to reveal the fact he has a part-time job (again relating to his facade at school). In reality though, Teru is a good guy at heart and much like most of the main characters from the Tokimeki Memorial series, he knew the heroine when they were younger and made a promise to meet her again.

  • The Ace: Subverted. As per usual for the main guy, Teru is smart, athletic, popular with his classmates and generally talented at whatever he turns his hand to - but see Broken Ace below.
  • Beautiful Dreamer: In one of his events, the heroine finds him taking a nap at school.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: With the heroine, particularly since his rudeness prompts feistier responses from her than she normally gives the other guys.
  • Beneath the Mask: It's hard to stress this enough when it comes to Teru. His entire speech pattern (right down to the pronoun he uses to refer to himself) changes depending on which of his classmates he's talking to.
    • Becoming the Mask: He admits to the heroine that he's not entirely sure any more which of his faces is the real one. When she asks if the way he acts while they're on a date is the real Teru, the most he can say is that he'd like for it to be.
  • Broken Ace: At first glance, Teru seems to have it all. He's got good grades, good looks and a friendly personality... or does he? In reality, Teru is under pressure from his parents to succeed, so he goes to cram school and has to study during most of his free time in order to keep his test scores up, while also working late hours at his grandfather's cafe after school. His good looks attract flocks of fangirls who he doesn't feel he can say no to; his 'princely' attitude is just a mask that he feels he has to put on for other people. Most of Teru's drama stems from the fact that he isn't The Ace, but rather, someone who feels that he has to live up to other peoples' expectations by acting like one.
  • Chick Magnet: Deconstructed; Teru finds keeping his horde of fangirls pleased exhausting, but can't bring himself to refuse them for fear it would cause hurt feelings, jealousy, and even more of a hassle.
  • Childhood Friend Romance
  • Cruel to Be Kind/I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Just before graduation, if Teru is in love with the heroine, he will phone her up and ask to meet at the beach, where he tells her he's moving far away. He harshly tells her that the way he's behaved around her has all been a lie and that she should just forget about him. Considering his behavior up to that point, it's not hard to guess the reason for his outburst.
  • Dope Slap: He'll give the heroine a "chop" with the side of his hand for doing things like showing up late for dates. He also dope-slaps her with a tray in an event that occurs if she takes a job with him at Sangosho.
  • Instant Fanclub: He gains a quick fangirl following and subsequently a fanclub on the first day of High School.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold
  • Lap Pillow: In his Christmas event, he asks the heroine to let him lay his head on her lap.
  • Megane: In one CG scene, he forgets his contacts in his hurry to get to school early to study, and wears a pair of spare glasses instead.
  • Mr. Fanservice
  • The Perfectionist: As mentioned above, Teru strives to be perfect (or at least as close as he can get) in everything he does. Unlike other Tokimeki protagonists, however, he has to put in a lot of effort to keep up these appearances.
  • Sexy Man, Instant Harem
  • Stepford Smiler
  • Tsundere: Teru vacillates between types depending on which persona he's putting forth. Initially, he's nice to most of his classmates but rude to the protagonist; he mellows toward her in time, but is prone to getting angry and running off if things get too romantic, making him ultimately a Type B.
  • Unwanted Glasses Plot: At least from Teru's perspective. When the heroine catches him wearing glasses while studying, he claims that the reason he doesn't wear them all the time is because... "Glasses are lame."
  • Unwanted Harem: He's not at all interested in his enormous following of girls. He even goes as far as to use the heroine as an excuse to get out of going home with his gaggle of fans.
  • Years Too Early: When the heroine tries to prank him during one of their dates, he gives her a chop and tells her to try again in a hundred years.

Katsumi Shiba

Voiced by: Kazuya Nakai

He's the sporty, silent character of the game. He has a passion for baseball and loves cute animals.

  • Chick Magnet: In one of his events during the second year Culture Festival.
  • Covert Pervert: He's one of the more gentlemanly boyfriends in the game, but he also has some surprisingly suggestive lines - such as when he muses that the heroine's small size is convenient for avoiding having to change light bulbs and... "other things." When she asks what other things, he refuses to elaborate.
  • Determinator: When it comes to sports, particularly baseball.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse
  • Friend to All Living Things: The bunnies at the petting zoo flock to him immediately. He says he's had the same effect on dogs, cats, and horses.
  • Gentle Giant
  • He's Back: He'd quit baseball during his last year of middle school, but he rejoins the Hanegasaki Academy baseball team midgame in order to help them deal with an opposing school's pitcher who isn't playing fair.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: He's the tallest out of all the guys, and while the protagonist mostly isn't seen, Shiba has several lines of dialogue about how small she is compared to him.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: He doesn't make a big production of it, but he is protective of the heroine and frequently seems concerned about her safety and well-being.
  • My Greatest Failure: Why he quit baseball. He punched an opposing team's pitcher at a middle school game, and got his team disqualified from the championship.
  • My Greatest Second Chance: The heroine's influence can convince him to start playing baseball again.
  • Nice Guy: His stoic nature makes him seem aloof at first, but he's unfailingly kind and gentle towards the heroine, and even in the earliest stages of a relationship, he's the least inclined to be critical.
  • The Quiet One: Upon meeting him, the heroine observes that he's a man of few words.
  • Redemption Quest: Shiba expresses a strong desire to make up for his past mistakes on the baseball team.
  • Sleep Cute/Beautiful Dreamer: Implied in one of his CG events, when Shiba and the heroine both nod off while on a date at the park. Shiba, who wakes up first, says that he's "gained something" from the experience (presumably the opportunity to watch the heroine sleeping).
  • The Stoic
  • Stoic Woobie: Shiba's got quite a bit of emotional baggage from his middle school years, but almost never talks about it to the heroine. The one time he does lose his cool in front of her, he apologizes and tells her to forget it.

Itaru Hikami

Voiced by: Chihiro Suzuki

As a member of the student council, Hikami is a "textbook" person who believes very strongly in following the rules and takes enforcing them quite seriously. He is also the cousin of Reiichi Himuro from the first Girl's Side game. Like his cousin, he's a very practical person and can be quite strict where school rules are concerned, but unlike Himuro, he's also quite friendly and kind towards the heroine.

  • Adorkable
  • Beautiful Dreamer: Like Teru, he has an event in which the heroine finds him sleeping at school.
  • Blind Without'Em: "No poking fun at my glasses. I'd have trouble walking straight on this path without them."
  • Class Representative
  • Continuity Nod: Not only is Hikami the cousin of Himuro Reiichi, he provides a few general nods to Himuro's role in Girl's Side 1, too. For example, he wears a pinstriped suit identical to Himuro's to the yearly Christmas parties, and he's drawn in exactly the same pose as well.
  • Fantasy Helmet Enforcement: He rides a bike to school and always wears his helmet.
  • Friendless Background: Hikami mentions a few times that he can't quite seem to connect with his classmates and during his confession scene, he refers to the heroine as someone who started out being his first true friend.
  • Hot-Blooded: He's very zealous and enthusiastic, especially when it comes to his work on the Student Council.
  • Intelligence Equals Isolation: Hikami's booksmart nature and his occasionally over-enthusiastic attitude drive his peers away from him, resulting in a lack of friends and social skills. If the heroine takes his route, he gets elected as Student Council president and earns the respect of his classmates.
  • In the Blood: Hikami is related to Reiichi Himuro, the homeroom teacher of the first Tokimeki Girl's Side game. Both of them have blue(ish) hair, wear glasses, stick strictly to the rules, and have a tendency to become flustered easily once they develop enough affection for the protagonist. Must run in the family.
  • Lovable Nerd: Once Hikami warms up to the heroine a little, he becomes this.
  • Megane
  • Memetic Mutation: His ridiculous-looking helmet has achieved meme status, and has also earned him the nickname of "Metty" among Japanese players. One of his more famous lines, "これは手信号だよ" (read "kore wa teshingou dayo"—or in English, "These are hand signals!") has also become a minor meme in of itself, mainly because Hikami sounds incredibly enthusiastic despite the fact that he is discussing something incredibly mundane. When written by others, the line is often accompanied by a ✰ mark at the end.
  • Motor Mouth: Mostly when he gets flustered.
  • Nice Guy: Of course, the other guys also have their Nice Guy tendencies, but Hikami is definitely more polite and well-behaved than most of the cast.
  • Shutting Up Now: On a couple of occasions, such as during the sports festival, when his eagerness leads him to ramble awkwardly. "...I'll shut my mouth now."
  • Student Council President: He's elected in the second year, if the heroine has had enough of a good influence on him.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Following an Accidental Kiss with the heroine, on their next meeting Hikami is a little too quick to protest that he is not shaken at all, he is perfectly normal and not worried about anything because he and the heroine are just friends.
    • He does it again during the second New Years' shrine visit, swearing that he's suggesting that they hold hands to avoid getting separated purely out of practicality and not because he has any ulterior motives.
  • Unpopular Popular Character: While not the most popular character in the game, Hikami has a respectable amount of fans in real life. Not so much in-universe, though...


Kounoshin Hariya

Voiced by: Kenichi Suzumura

Kounoshin Hariya or Harry as he likes to be nicknamed is the male equivalent of Yuko Asahina from the first Tokimeki Memorial game. He's part of a rock band and is very conscientious about the latest fashion trends and styles. He also is based on the standard of modern youths in Japan and uses a lot of "youth slang".

  • Book Dumb: His grades aside from art and home ec are atrocious.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: He almost confesses his love to the heroine but mumbles through the end of it.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: He manages to do this to himself: he mentions that he's named his guitar after the heroine, and talks a little uncomfortably about how the way he holds it affects the sound it makes, concluding that giving it the heroine's name was probably a bad idea.
  • Embarrassing First Name: Hariya doesn't like his first or last names, actually. He prefers to be called 'Harry' instead of 'Hariya' and 'Kou' instead of 'Kounoshin'. He seems to think his given name is uncool for some reason.
  • In-Series Nickname: He likes to be referred to by his nickname, Harry.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Which is exactly how he likes it.
  • Sick Episode: The heroine visits him at his house when he cancels a date because he says he's feeling sick.
  • Tsundere: In contrast to Teru, Harry is more of an oranyan type. He's cheeky and a bit arrogant most of the time, but has a sappier side that shows up once he falls for the heroine - and quickly gets embarrassed after saying something sentimental and tries to cover it up by acting boastful again, with the entertaining result that he frequently first demands that the heroine stay close to him and then demands that she not get that close, or vice versa.

Christopher Weatherfield

Voiced by: Daichi Kanbara

Christopher is an art loving student originally from England. As such his Japanese isn't all that great. He is also the heir to a big family business, although he is very uneasy about it as he does not feel he is prepared to handle it.

  • Book Dumb: It's not uncommon to see Chris fail every subject except for art.
  • Chivalrous Pervert
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Chris can't seem to grasp that it's not okay to "decorate" public property by painting on it, or ask complete strangers to model nude for him.
  • First-Name Basis: Most of the guys start off calling the heroine by her family name, and will only let her call them by their given names after she's built up some affection with them. Chris, a Westerner, skips directly to First-Name Basis, and the heroine likewise starts off calling him "Chris-kun" by default.
  • Funny Foreigner
  • Gratuitous English: Surprisingly averted. Chris is set up as a typical foreigner stereotype, but he doesn't actually use that much English (other than the occasional "HARRO?" when he answers his phone). As a matter of fact, Chris tends to completely flunk the language portion of his exams.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy
  • The Malaproper: Thanks to not quite being fluent in Japanese.
  • Phenotype Stereotype: "It's clear that I'm a foreigner. Don't I look like one~?"
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: "I don't visit those types of websites, so it's not like I even forget the time when looking at those websites." Even the heroine, who usually can't figure out what all that blushing and aborted confessions on the guys' parts is about, is pretty quick to see through this.
  • Trauma Swing: During one of his triggered events.


Shota Amachi

Voiced by: Makoto Naruse

Shota is the Kohai of this game. He has a gentle and sweet personality (and also adores sweet food) but underneath it all he does have a hidden mischievious side to him. He is extremely popular with younger girls.

  • Chick Magnet
  • Cute Shotaro Boy
  • Deliberately Cute Child: Shota is very much aware of his popularity among girls, and uses his cutesy kohai act to get favors and presents from them.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Should the player choose to activate his accidental kiss event then the heroine will meet him a year earlier in May of the first year of High School when he doesn't actually officially join the school, and consequently the game, until the beginning of the second year of High School.
  • Kohai[context?]
  • Meaningful Name: Konami is obviously taking the mickey with his first name.
  • Sweet Tooth
  • Together Umbrella: How the heroine meets him (if she doesn't get his accidental kiss in year one).
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Shota is arguably much more mature than his age and looks indicate. Amusingly enough, he is one of the few dateable guys who is perfectly fine with accompanying the heroine on the merry-go-round at the amusement park without suffering an embarrassment-induced Heroic BSOD.


Takafumi Wakaouji

Voiced by: Toshiyuki Morikawa

In stark contrast to Reiichi Himuro from the first Girl's Side game, Takafumi is the heroine's smart, friendly teacher. He is very popular amongst the female students who nickname him "Waka-sama". He's also the supervisor for the track and field club.

  • Absent-Minded Professor/Ditzy Genius: He's extremely intelligent, but scatterbrained and kind of quirky.
  • Arch Enemy: He has an arch enemy that hails from his younger days when he was in America.
  • Badass Teacher/Cool Teacher
  • Child Prodigy/Teen Genius: He started working in scientific research at the age of thirteen, and presumably got his doctorate as a teenager.
  • Doing It For The Students: In one of his date events, he confides in the heroine about how he became disillusioned regarding the research he was doing in America because the focus seemed to be all about profit. Both Himeko and the American from the "archenemy" scene try to convince him to quit his job at Hanegasaki High School - Himeko offers to triple his salary and provide him with multiple research facilities - but he stubbornly refuses because he genuinely enjoys teaching.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: With loads and loads of fan art.
  • Hot Teacher
  • Improbably High IQ/Ranked by IQ: In the archenemy scene, he's mentioned to have an IQ of 200.
  • In-Series Nickname: "Waka-sama." Some students also call him "Waka-chan".
  • Instant Fanclub: He has a considerable Fan Girl following among the students.
  • Intelligence Equals Isolation: More than once he describes how lonely he was while working as a researcher. Some of his dialogue indicates that he feels he missed out on being a teenager, which is one of the reasons he enjoys teaching high school students and being around the protagonist.
  • Intertwined Fingers: His Christmas CG.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover
  • May–December Romance
  • Nintendo Hard: In keeping with tradition, he is very hard to get an ending for, since he is a teacher and like Reiichi will always be the one to ask the player for dates.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Some of his dialogues suggest that he acts scatterbrained on purpose. For example, if the heroine gets a little too flirtatious with him, he asks her to describe him, then finishes for her:

Wakaouji: ...and is loved by everyone, a little bit handsome, and pretends to be oblivious. Is that right?
Heroine: Um...
Wakaouji: Well, then, if this is the Wakaouji-sensei that you all know, then who is this impostor standing in front of you now?
Heroine: Why are you asking me this? Sensei is scaring me a little...
Wakaouji: I'm sorry. But hey, all men are wolves. Therefore, be careful.


Motoharu Masaki

Voiced by: Yuji Ueda

Motoharu is a student at a second-rate university and works part time as a botanist at a floral shop. He's the heroine's senior by three years, is very outgoing and friendly and also graduated Hanegasaki High School.


Kazuyuki Akagi

Voiced by: Kenji Nojima

The secret character. Kazuyuki meets the heroine by accident when they take shelter together from the rain on the way home from school. He attends Habataki High School from the first Girl's Side game. As he is the Habataki Student Council President he sometimes visits Hanegasaki High and works together with Itaru.

Taro Majima

Voiced by: Kissho Taniyama

One of two exclusive guys in the DS version of the game. Taro is the heroine's senior by a year. At first, he is very courteous and kind towards the heroine, but it soon transpires that his real persona is extremely flirtatious and has many girlfriends.

  • All Take and No Give: Until the heroine finally wins him over.
  • Casanova: Which the heroine finds out about when he graduates.
  • Freudian Excuse: Taro only treats love like a game because he was played with, used and then dumped by his ex-girlfriend. The messy breakup left him afraid to open up to anyone else for fear of being hurt again. Whether or not this excuses his behavior is debatable.
  • Love Martyr: Dating him turns the heroine into one.
  • Sempai-Kohai: He's the senpai to the heroine's kohai although he doesn't like the use of the -senpai honorific and asks the heroine to henceforth call him Taro-kun.


Taku Komori

Voiced by: Daisuke Matsubara

The other exclusive guy to the DS version of the game. He transfers to the heroine's school in the second year. He used to go to Kirameki High School (again boy do all roads lead back there!). He's extremely introverted and anti-social. Consequently he misses a lot of school and ditches it a lot.


Tatsuko Todo

Voiced by: Naomi Shindo

One of four girls who can become friends with the heroine. She is fairly tall and although she looks quite stern, she is actually kind and dependable. She has a huge fan following in the school comprising of both girls and guys. She is in love with Katsumi, and if the player is also going for his ending, she can become a rival in love for his affections.


Chiyomi Onoda

Voiced by: Etsuko Kozakura

One of four girls who can become friends with the heroine. Chiyomi is a member of the student council. Like Itaru, she is a constant rule abider but also, like Itaru, she is also very friendly at heart. Chiyomi also loves animals and likes collecting small figurines of them. She is in love with Itaru, and if the player is also going for his ending, she can become a rival in love for his affections.

Haruhi Nishimoto

Voiced by: Ai Maeda (the older one)

One of four girls who can become friends with the heroine. Haruhi is very cheerful, outgoing and hails from Osaka. She is in love with Kounoshin, and if the player is also going for his ending, she can become a rival in love for his affections.

Hisoka Mizushima

Voiced by: Yuko Minaguchi

One of four girls who can become friends with the heroine. Hisoka is very feminine and ladylike. She also has a way with manipulating people to do things for her without them realizing it. She is in love with Christopher, and if the player is also going for his ending, she can become a rival in love for his affections.

Yu Otonari

Voiced by: Yumiko Kobayashi

Yu is the heroine's younger neighbour who basically acts as the "info-man" of the game. Yu also has a romantic ending with the heroine as he does have a crush on her.

Himeko Hanatsubaki

Voiced by: Fumiko Matsuzaki

Himeko is the niece of Goro from the first Girl's Side game. She essentially is extremely eccentric like her uncle and has her own internet column and runs her own store which the heroine can work at.
