Beware of unmarked SPOILERS!

Main Characters

Loki

"I wonder... what sort of case this'll be."

The trickster god of Norse Mythology, Loki was for unknown reasons banished to the human world in the body of a ten year old boy by Odin. Loki runs the Enjaku Detective Agency to deal with the strange and supernatural, but his real desire is to return to Asgard and find out why he was exiled in the first place.

Mayura Daidouji

"Maybe I'm just worried you're about to leave... and go far away. That's why!"

Mayura Daidouji is an ordinary high school student who is drawn into Loki's detective agency, as well as the mysterious world of Loki and the Norse gods and goddesses. She joins the agency as Loki's self-proclaimed assistant, but she is unaware that everyone she meets is a god, goddess, or someone Norse-related, though in the manga Mayura has a sharper sense than in the anime. She seems to have feelings for Loki.

Supporting Characters

Yamino Ryusuke

"All we want is to remain by your side. Wherever that may be, as long as you're happy, so are we, Master Loki."

Loki's butler and assistant, Yamino has a fondness for cooking and mail-order items. He is revealed to be Jormundgand, Loki's second son.

Narugami/Thor

"I know you well, Loki, yet despite that fact, I have no reason to kill you."

Disguised as a transfer student in Mayura's class, Narugami is really the Norse god of thunder and sent to kill Loki, but decides not to only because he hasn't found a reason to kill Loki yet. He is often called "Narukami" by Loki. A running gag is that Narugami ends up having a multiple of different part-time jobs.

Ecchan

"Punyaan~."

A Shikigami spirit conjured up by Loki.

Heimdall

"I'll kill Loki no matter how great the sin. It's only a matter of time. By my own right eye, I swear it. Just you wait... Loki."

The watchman of Norse Mythology, Heimdall is sent by Odin to kill Loki, but it's more of a personal vendetta -- Heimdall seeks revenge against Loki for stealing his right eye, and he will not rest until vengence is his.

Freyr

"Why, Heimdall. Don't get so worked up. The battle between gods is a glorious thing. You should really learn to savor it."

Freyr is a mystery thief who falls in love with Mayura at first sight. He works with Heimdall and has a robotic pig named Gullinbursti. Freyr came to the human world in search of his sister Freya, who was banished to the human world like Loki.

Reiya Ohshima

"Yes, and I owe it all to you. You protected me, you alone, stood by me like a prince stands by his princess."

Reiya is a child who comes to the detective agency to solve an unusual mystery surrounding her. In the manga, Reiya hires Loki on the mystery her nightmires of her deceased sister, while in the anime, she hires Loki on the mystery of her mansion. She develops a crush on Loki. Reiya is revealed to be Freya put into a child form. Unlike Loki, Reiya does not have any memories of being Freya. Reiya becomes Freya when wearing the necklace Brisingamen, as well as when she becomes frightened or jealous of the female attention Loki recieves.

Freya

"I loved you from the very bottom of my heart, and I knew all along that you didn't. To love someone who never notices you. To give someone the gift of love, only to have them be completely oblivious to it. Do you think it's easy to be the goddess of love? I was lonely, but I should have saved myself the trouble and never have fallen in love with you. At least then, I would never have encoured Odin's wrath in the first place. I wouldn't have suffered for you as I had did. I'll never forgive you, you hear me? Never!"

Freyr's sister and the goddess of beauty, fertility, and love. After begging Odin for Loki's return, Freya was punished by being exiled to the human form in the body of a child and without her memories -- that child being Reiya. As a result, Freya is vengeful against Loki for this, but in spite of this, her feelings for Loki are just as strong as ever.

Urd

"The fated hour has come."

One of the three Norn Sisters. In the manga, they appear to have a second agenda differing from that of Odin's. In the anime, they are sent to kill Loki. Urd is seemingly the leader of the three sisters and enchantments are her forte.

Verdandi

"Yes, we must follow fate's path, wherever it leads."

One of the three Norn Sisters. In the manga, they appear to have a second agenda differing from that of Odin's. In the anime, they are sent to kill Loki. Verdandi is the second eldest of the sisters and works with dark alchemy.

Skuld

I don't understand... I just don't understand. Were we... Was I... involved with him?

The youngest of the three Norn Sisters. In the manga, they appear to have a second agenda differing from that of Odin's. In the anime, they are sent to kill Loki. Skuld has a demon as a familiar. She has feelings for a rather oblivious Loki in the manga, while in the anime it's implied that the two might have or might have not have had an affair in the past.

Fenrir

"Daddy~!"

A talking dog that is revealed to be the wolf Fenrisulfr, Loki's eldest son. In a Running Gag, Fenrir acts sweet towards Loki and bossy towards Yamino.

Hel

"It's so cold, and it hurts so much. But compared to the world that I lived in, this is nothing. And when I was back home and when I felt alone, was it only my heart that was frozen?"

A mysterious pink haired girl who has a connection to Loki and seeks for his demise. She is revealed to be Loki's only daughter -- the goddess of the underworld and a half-corpse. Her role in the manga and anime differ; in the manga, Hel only wants Loki to stay with her in the underworld forever, while in the anime, Hel's reason for her desire for Loki's death is because Odin led her to believe that her father and brothers all abandoned her and hated her.

Odin

"Loki, as he who reigns supreme over all gods, I hearby deliver onto you a new sentence. One of complete and utter anihilation. I shall destroy you and forever purge your existence from the flow of time. There will no longer be a place for you in the realm of the gods, Loki."

The King of the Gods who seeks Loki's demise.

Other Characters

Misao Daidouji

"I don't give a damn what you do to me, do you hear me? Know that to protect his daughter's life, any father would sacrifice his own!"

Mayura's father. He is protective of her and dislikes her constant fascination with the occult, as well as her friendship with Loki. Unlike Mayura, her father has a sixth sense and is aware that there is something strange and supernatural about Loki.

Kotarou Kakinouchi

"Try not to fall in love with me."

A wealthy and snooty classmate of Mayura's. In the manga, Koutarou -- nicknamed Kou by Loki -- proves to be a valued asset and as great as a detective as Loki, who becomes friends with him. However, his role differs in the anime, where he hangs out with Loki and company and has several meetings with the enigmatic Hel.

Spica

A significant character to the sequel manga series and a new character appearing in the end of the last episode of the anime. Spica is a good-natured but clumsy girl who becomes a maid at the detective agency. She is revealed to be Angrboda, Loki's mistress and the mother of Jormundgand, Fenrisulfr, and Hel.

Utgard-Loki

A manga-only character. Utgard-Loki is the former life of Loki's -- the King of Utgard, Land of the Giants. He holds half of Loki's power. It appears he has a strange obsession over Spicia.
