An index of characters that, by their very definition, are always female, as well as tropes that are almost exclusively applied to female characters. There are several reasons for a trope to be categorized as Always Female:

• The trope is a Distaff Counterpart to an Always Male trope.
• The trope specifically revolves around femininity as a cultural construct, as it applies to women.
  • It may explore a subversion of modern societal expectations; in this case, male examples are so ubiquitous that they may not even have their own trope.
• The trope hinges on the focal character being biologically female.
  • The vast majority of Pregnancy Tropes (Mister Seahorse being a notable exception) need to be about characters with female reproductive organs.
