Heart no Kuni no Alice/Characters

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Characters from Heart no Kuni no Alice include:

Alice Liddell

Voiced by: Rie Kugimiya

The heroine of the series. Kidnapped by a mysterious Bishonen man and forced to go Down the Rabbit Hole, she realizes that she's Trapped in Another World - namely, The Country of Hearts, due to a trick. After meeting the (mostly male) Roleholders of the country who take a liking to her, she decides maybe it's not so bad after all.

  • Blithe Spirit
  • Cuteness Proximity: She has a thing for cute objects.
  • Hair Decorations: Sports a ribbon in her hair.
  • Forceful Kiss: Peter forces her to take a potion that way that makes her stuck in in Wonderland. Though, it's revealed in Bad End 2 of the first game that Alice could have gone back home anytime she wished...
  • Funny Foreigner: Everyone sees her as this.
  • Genre Savvy: Very much so.
  • The Heroine
  • Innocent Cohabitation: She lives with Julius in the manga.
  • Love Hurts: After her boyfriend left her for Rorina, she swore never to fall in love again.
  • Meido: Her day-to-day outfit resembles one.
  • Morality Pet: For a lot of people.
  • Naive Everygirl
  • Pimped-Out Dress: During the ball scene.
  • Trapped in Another World: Alice gets kidnapped and thrown into Wonderland. Subverted though since it's revealed in Bad End 2 of the first game that Alice could've left Wonderland anytime she wanted to.
  • Tsundere: Alice in the manga is a definite Type B for Blood Dupre.
  • Unwanted Harem: One could argue that. She states herself in the manga that she never meant for anyone to fall in love with her.
  • Vague Age: The game is never really clear on Alice's exact age, and the official fanbooks listing her as "the player's age" is not helping either. According to Alice, though, Pierce, who is officially listed as somewhere around 16 or 17, is younger than her. So it can be assumed that she is somewhere in her late teens. At least around the time when her sister was still alive. In actuality, Alice is much older than that.

The Castle of Hearts

The Castle of Hearts is where the court of the Country of Hearts resides. The Castle is associated with spring and the suit of, well, hearts. Peter, Vivaldi, and Ace are the Roleholders of note in this area.

Peter White

Voiced by: Kouki Miyata

The Prime Minister of the country (or at least, that's what he's referred to as), Peter's the reason Alice is stuck in the Country of Hearts in the first place. He is serious about his job but happens to be desperately in love with Alice, and it seems the feeling is anything but mutual. Based on the White Rabbit, although they have little in common.

Ace

Voiced by: Daisuke Hirakawa

A Knight serving the Palace of Hearts and one of the most competent sword users in the country, Ace is one of the nicest people you'll meet, considering his lighthearted, cheerful disposition. Just don't think of his Cute and Psycho tendencies. He's a friend of Julius's and helps him retrieve the clocks of people who die. An original character, although fandom suggests he's based on the Knave of Hearts.

Queen Vivaldi

Voiced by: Yuko Kaida

The Queen of Hearts, she is cold and powerful, but weakens when confronted with cute things (and Alice), of course). Her power, however, doesn't extend to the Amusement Park or the Hatter's mansion. Also Blood's elder sister. She's based on the Queen of Hearts from the original story.

The Hatter's Mansion

The Mafia of Wonderland reside here. The mansion itself is associated with autumn and the suit of spades.

Blood Dupre

Voiced by: Katsuyuki Konishi

The head of The Country of Heart's equivalent of The Mafia, Blood is cold and ruthless - but his subordinates are just as dangerous as he. He prefers scheming and manipulating things from the shadows. It's noted he resembles Alice's ex-boyfriend who left her for Rolina, which leads to Alice disliking him, especially after he acts like a jerk to her. It appears the feeling is mutual. At first. Based on the Mad Hatter from the original story.

Elliot March

Voiced by: Tsuguo Mogami

Blood's right hand man, Elliot is generally cheerful and easygoing - but then again, he's not Blood's right hand man for no reason at all. Also, he's definitely not a hare the March Hare of this world.

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum

Left: Dee; Right: Dum

Voiced by: Jun Fukuyama

Twin guards at the Hatter's Mansion, who are cute little boys in the first game and adults in the second and third. They call Alice things like "Lady" and "Big sister," and they can be very possessive. Elliot thinks they're annoying.

The Amusement Park

Owned by Gowland, the Park is one of the four major areas of the game. It's associated with summer and the suit of diamonds.

Boris Airay

Voiced by: Noriaki Sugiyama

The series' resident cat boy, Boris is lighthearted and blithe - but unlike Ace, it's anything but a facade (although his attitude towards death leaves something to be desired. No, really. He and Alice hit it off, and he's one of the people who stick up for her when Blood gets on her nerves. He lives in the Amusement Park and is on good terms with Gowland and the twins. He's the equivalent of the Cheshire Cat.

  • Bare Your Midriff: Hoo boy.
  • Cat Boy
  • Nice Guy
  • Peek-a-Bangs: Although he's one of the nicest people around.
  • Petting Zoo People
  • Boa of Asskicking: Oh, lord.
  • The Bully: Prior to Heart no Kuni, Boris bullied Pierce continually and even tried to eat him many times. After Boris started ganging up on him more with the help of Dee and Dum, this eventually caused the poor guy to flee the country. When Boris meets Pierce again after the country moved to the Clover Country, he immediately starts going back to bullying him again.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: His relationship with Gowland could fall under this.

Mary Gowland

Voiced by: Kenyuu Horiuchi

The owner of the Amusement Park. Appearance-wise, he's one of the eldest of the cast, but that doesn't stop his lighthearted nature. He immediately takes a liking to Alice after their first meeting.

Pierce Villiers

Voiced by: Souichiro Hoshi

The Dormouse, he's a kind boy who really, really just wants to sleep. It's for this reason he adores Nightmare, as the resident incubus helps him sleep. It seems he was once the undertaker for the Hatter family, but left due to Dum and Dee's teasing. Boris (him being a cat and all) was another major reason in his decision to leave for Cloverland. In Joker, though, he's moved into the Amusement Park and they seem to be trying to get along.

  • Animal Motifs: A dormouse, and you were wondering where the dormouse was in the first game.
  • Butt Monkey: Just about the whole cast mistreats Pierce, though mostly by Boris and the twins. This is partly due to the fact that he's a mouse. And... this is usually Played for Laughs. Heck, even the scenes where Boris chases him with a fork and knife are intended to be just for kicks and giggles.
  • Cleanup Crew: His job is to dispose of the dead bodies for the Hatter family.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Don't let that cute face and personality fool you. He was an undertaker for the Hatters a reason.
  • Green Eyes
  • I Am Not A Bear: He gets mistaken as one by Alice in the prologue of Clover no Kuni no Alice.
  • Must Have Caffeine: Bucketloads of it. Come to think of it, if he's so sleep-deprived, why does he drink so much in the first place? The answer to that being that he's so afraid of being eaten by Boris that he drinks coffee in order to keep himself awake.
  • Multicolored Hair: His normally red hair has a blond streak.
  • Nice Hat
  • Petting Zoo People: He has a pair of very mouse ears and tail.
  • The Ditz
  • The Insomniac

The Clock Tower

The Clock Tower is the only neutral place in the entire country and the only place not subjected to their messy little territorial disputes. Julius, Gray, and Nightmare reside here (as does Alice in the manga). It's associated with green and the suit of clover.

Julius Monrey

Voiced by: Takehito Koyasu

The owner of the Clock Tower, the only neutral place in the whole country, what with the other three areas constantly battling for territory, and all. Julius is in charge of repairing people's clocks - As You Know, broken clocks (the stand in for hearts) in Heartland mean death. As such, considering everyone thinks Death Is Cheap, Julius wears himself thin trying to keep up with it all. Nightmare likes hanging around him and Ace helps him out by bringing him broken clocks.

Speculation has it that he's the story's stand-in for Father Time.

Nightmare Gottschalk

Voiced by: Tomokazu Sugita

A sickly incubus who lives with Julius, Nightmare appears in Alice's dreams. If Peter was the one who wanted her in Wonderland, Nightmare was the one who did the dirty work. Probably based on the Caterpillar in the original story.

Gray Ringmarc

Voiced by: Kazuya Nakai

A former assassin who works for Nightmare as his right-hand man. Unfortunately, due to Nightmare's condition, he ends up being like a nanny more than anything. Based on The Lizard in the original story.

The Prison Realm

Joker

Voiced by: Akira Ishida

Joker's in charge of the prison realm, and unfortunately he has something of a nasty Split Personality. There are two jokers within the story - The White Joker, your typical, modest Nice Guy, and the Black Joker, who's pretty much an all-out asshole.

Other Characters

Rolina Liddell

Alice's older sister, whom she remembers fondly.

Alice's First Boyfriend

Exactly What It Says on the Tin - This dude was Alice's first boyfriend who ended up leaving her for her sister. Naturally, when Blood ends up looking exactly like him, Alice isn't exactly happy about it.

The King of Hearts

Again, Exactly What It Says on the Tin: He's Vivaldi's husband, but happens to be weak and ineffectual compared to his powerful, domineering wife.
