Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

The Tsujimura clan

The Tsujimura clan (Toshimitsu, Isao, Takayoshi and Kimie Tsujimura, Yukiko Katsuragi, Kenji Yamashiro)

The Big Screwed-Up Family that shows up in the case that was Heiji Hattori's first appearance, i.e. The Diplomat Murder Case. Heiji shows up in Tokyo to challenge Shinichi Kudo, and the "stage" is the murder of the diplomat Isao Tsujimura. Who killed him: his father Toshimitsu, his son Takayoshi, his second wife Kimie, or Takayoshi's girlfriend Yukiko?

Harumi Matsuzaki, Kiwako Todou, Kunio Kawazu, Hiroshi Itou and Masahiko Matsuzaki

Harumi Matsuzaki, Kiwako Todou, Kunio Kawazu, Hiroshi Itou and Masahiko Matsuzaki

Ran still wants Eri and Kogoro to get back together, so she stages a small vacation to the beach. They befriend a group of scuba divers... but tragedy falls over them when one of the girls, Kiwako, almost drowns. And for worse, it's not an accident, but the doing of one of her friends.

  • Anti-Villain: Harumi regrets what she has done, very much. She also breaks down crying Tears of Remorse when exposed.
  • Damsel in Distress: Poor Kiwako
  • Kikuko Inoue: Kiwako
  • Murder the Hypotenuse: Harumi was in love with her stepbrother Masahiko and lost it when he decided to marry Kiwako.
  • Not Blood Siblings: Harumi and Masahiko.
  • Secret Keeper: Kiwako decides to keep Harumi's reasons to herself, as a part of her forgiveness for Harumi.
  • Super Drowning Skills: Masahiko really can't swim.
  • Victorious Childhood Friends: Masahiko and Kiwako.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Horribly played with. Knowing that Masahiko can't swim, Kiwako pretended to drown while trying to prove how much he loved her, recruiting Harumi for the prank without knowing her feelings. Harumi, already upset since Kiwako was marrying the guy she liked, lost it and tried poisoning Kiwako with a snake she caught.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: ... Well, Kiwako is voiced by Kikuko Inoue. She does show a cattier side in the beginning, but her decision to forgive Harumi and not tell Masahiko about her secret love for him is very much YN behavior.
    • Not only that: she let everyone except Conan, Eri, Kogoro and Ran believe that it was an accident. Thanks to her, Harumi averted going to jail for trying to kill her. It takes a very, very forgiving and kind person to do such things.
  • Yuko Minaguchi: Harumi

Mina and Masayo Aoshima

Mina and Masayo Aoshima

Once, Kogoro loses a ticket for a Yoko Okino concert he wanted to go to. He bumped into a girl named Masayo Aoshima, who also was a Yoko fan and had a spare ticket. They went to the house Masayo shared with her younger sister Mina... but they find out she's killed herself. However, Conan is suspicious and thinks Masayo knows more than she lets them see.

  • Aya Hisakawa: Masayo
  • Cain and Abel: With Mina as the Abel and Masayo as the Cain.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Masayo's "Yoko" headband. The accent over the first "o"? It's covered by a bit of Mina's blood.
  • Cool Big Sis: Mina adored her sister Masayo and imitated her in pretty much everything. She only succeded in pushing Masayo away, and then Masayo got so creeped out and fed up that she killed Mina.)
  • The Glorious War of Sisterly Rivalry. Mina was the Beautiful Sister, Masayo was the Smart Sister. Taken to their worst extreme in the end.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Oh, Mina. Had you not joked around with how you fell for Masayo's ex-boyfriend Kenji, Masayo wouldn't have snapped on you as badly as she did.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: Mina was the flirty girly girl, Masayo was the shorthaired and kinda tomboyish Office Lady.
  • Yukari Tamura: Mina

The Hatamoto Family

The Hatamoto Family (Gozo, Kitaro, Mariko, Jouji, Akie, Tetsuo, Ichiro and Natsue Hatamoto. Also, Takeshi Hatamoto nee Zaiki and Kenji Suzuki).

The people involved in a rather notorious case from the first season. After having lost their ferry, Conan and the Mouris are "picked up" by the rich Hatamoto clan and board into their yacht. However, they start witnessing the extremely dark family dynamics as well as the Jerkass behavior from the leader, Gozo Hatamoto... who is bloodily murdered. And that's just the beginning!

Kogoro Mouri's college friends

Kogoro Mouri's college friends (Kazushi Nakanishi, Yumi Horikoshi, Noriko Ayashiro née Kimoto, Yukio Ayashiro, Jun Oomura)

Another famous case from the first season. Every five years Kogoro Mouri reunites himself in a hot spring site with his best friends from college, the members of the judo club he used to belong to. This year, Ran and Conan manage to join in - and just in time, as former Cute Sports Club Manager and current Office Lady Yumi Horikoshi apparently finishes her own life via Pretty Little Headshots. But to Conan and Kogoro, this is not suicide.

  • Arranged Marriage: Kazushi accepted an omiai (arranged date) with the daughter of his boss, they hit it off and were about to get married. Yumi was not happy at all.
  • Bald of Awesome: Kazushi is fully bald, as well as a strong judo practitioner and a competent policeman. Subverted when he's revealed to be the killer and when Kogoro captures him.
  • Blackmail - Honey Trap: What Yumi was doing to Kazushi, threatening to send some risque and old photos of themselves to his new girlfriend.
  • Christmas Cake: Yumi, despite her beauty, was unmarried at age 34.
  • Died Standing Up: Yumi was shot in the head when she was on her feet. There are analogies to Benkei's legendary death that Conan catches on and then relays to Kogoro in his own way.
  • Driven to Suicide: People think at first that Yumi killed herself. This isn't helped by how she did express the wish to finish herself off since she's been depressed and in danger of losing her job in the middle of the economic crisis.
  • Genius Bruiser: Kazushi
  • Hello, Nurse!: Yumi, referred to as the Madonna of the group.
  • Hot Springs Episode: And very infamous for how Conan plays the role of Accidental Pervert at the beginning.
  • Hot Teacher: Yukio is pretty goodlooking and works as a schoolteacher.
  • Meganekko: Noriko is in her late 30's and still looks very Moe.
  • Nakama: Kogoro's. Which is why he's so incredibly pissed at Yumi's death. Double when he realizes that not only she was killed, but that one of his friends is the murderer. Cue It's Personal mode and then Kogoro's Crowning Moment of Awesome.
  • Office Lady: Yumi
  • Sickeningly Sweethearts: Yukio and Noriko, though this is understandable since they just got married and the trip might be doubling as their honeymoon.
  • Tsundere: Yumi. Rather darkly used in the end: she refused Kazushi's marriage proposals... until he decided to marry somebody else. Woman Scorned mode = ON.

Akiko Yonehara and others

Akiko Yonehara and others (Kohei Shimoda, Ryuichi Sakai, Minori Nakamura, Sugiyama-sensei, Atsushi Mori, Minako Mochizuki)

From the Ski Lodge case. Sonoko takes Ran and Conan to a ski trip and they run into their old school teacher Akiko Yonehara and her co-workers, who are there in vacation. They stay at the same lodge alongside a snarky reporter named Atsushi Mori, who notes that the villa was the scenario to a murder some time ago. And then another teacher, Sugiyama, is killed...

  • Break the Cutie: This case was very hard on poor Ran.
  • Broken Pedestal: Yonehara, for Sonoko and specially Ran. Also in the backstory: Shimoda and Sugiyama, for little Minako.
  • Christmas Cake: Nakamura teases Yonehara about being this:

Nakamura: It's the last strand of hope for a woman in her 30's who missed her prime marriage age, right?

  • Distress Ball: Poor Sonoko, drugged and then strangled into unconsciousness by Yonehara as a part of her Wounded Gazelle Gambit.
  • Hot Teacher: Yonehara and Nakamura
  • Improbable Weapon User: Yonehara used her wig to strangle Shimoda and Sugiyama.
  • Kill the Cutie: Minako-chan, noooooooooo!
  • Looks Like Cesare: Moori, and how.
  • Psychological Horror: Invoked by the killer, who writes in lipstick some kana symbols that when put together, read: "Minako". This sends Shimoda into a Villainous BSOD, and lets Yonehara (the killer) identify him as Minako's other murderer.
  • SHe Knows Too Much: The reason for Minako's murder. She found out that Shimoda and Sugiyama were involved in a fraud, and in her Heroic BSOD state she confronted them...
  • Would Hurt a Child and Would Hit a Girl: Shimoda and Sugiyama strangled a 10-year-old girl to death, then made it look like she had hung herself.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Yonehara knocks Sonoko out via both drugging and strangling, then lays on the floor to make it look like she was attacked too. The body that Sonoko saw right before that? It was Sugiyama's corpse, his face covered by Yonehara's wig.

Ayako Suzuki's friends

Ayako Suzuki's friends (Chikako Ikeda, Ryoichi Takahashi, Masaru Ohta, Hiroki Sumiya, Atsuko)

The people involved in a case that is infamous for the huge dose of Nightmare Fuel. Sonoko invites Ran and Conan to a mountain villa to meet up with her sister Ayako and her friends and enjoy the autumn in nice company. Things get weird when Ran and Conan see a man with bandages on his face, and then one of the members of the club is first kidnapped and later gruesomely killed. The fact that their past is far more troubled that it looks like and involved the death of a girl named Atsuko doesn't help their case.

  • Accidental Pervert: As Ran searches for her and Conan's room, she ends up walking on the guys when they were changing clothes. Including Takahashi, who then targets her because she saw that he wasn't as pudgy as he looked... which would reveal how he hid Chikako's head under his clothes.
  • Ax Crazy: The culprit, whose Weapon of Choice is an axe and not only uses it to chop a girl's body into pieces, but to attack Ran and Conan with it.
  • Bridal Carry: Horribly used when the group sees the killer carry a kidnapped Chikako away in his arms, right before her body is found. It was a stage trick with a doll, piano wire, and Chikako's decapitated head.
  • Driven to Suicide: Chikako stole Atsuko's best script and made it pass as hers, which made Atsuko cross the Despair Event Horizon and hang herself.
    • Takahashi also tries to commit suicide with a knife so he and Atsuko could be Together in Death, but is thwarted.
  • Handsome Lech: Ohta
  • Love Makes You Evil: Takahashi uses this to justify his brutal murder of Chikako, since he was deeply in love with poor Atsuko and wanted to punish Chikako for causing her suicide.
  • Madness Mantra: Atsuko's "No one will believe me!", referring to how she was the true author of the beautiful script that Chikako made pass as hers.
  • Off with His Head: Chikako's death. Takahashi then takes it Up to Eleven by mutilating her body and dismembering her.
  • Smoking Is Cool: Ohta
  • There Is Only One Bed: Ran and Conan spend the night in the same bed. Not like that, of course. Which actually saves Ran's life in the upcoming attack by the masked man.
  • Yandere: Takahashi, for the deceased Atsuko.

Motoyasu Tsukumo, his family and his disciples

Motoyasu Tsukumo, his family and his disciples (Nanae and Ayano Tsukumo, Yuji Momochi, Mako Miyoshi, Kazumi Sanada, Yashiro Kinoshita)

The first group featured in the popular double episode "The Cornered Famous detective! Two big murder cases". Motoyasu Tsukumo is a famous stage magician who appears dead in strange circumstances the day when his daughter Ayano turned six years old, so his widow Nanae goes to Kogoro to search for help since she suspects one of his three disciples is the murderer. This, however, brings Ran some memories... and evidence that Conan is Shinichi!

  • Adult Fear: The case's about to be deciphered... and then a bomb is dropped. Little Ayano is missing! And Mako, the killer, is the one who took her away! In a subversion, Mako brings Ayano back unharmed, though she admits she was this close to killing her.
  • Cassandra Truth: Young Mako actually witnessed how Tsukumo messed around with Yashiro's equipment and caused his death, but nobody believed her since she was a little girl back then.
  • Chekhov's Gun: A certain photo album that Ran finds in the Mouri office. It has a photo of Tsukumo with kid!Ran and kid!Shinichi, and taking a good look at it makes Ran suspect about Conan's true identity--especially after comparing said picture to the long look she takes of a Conan without glasses.
    • In-story example: Tsukumo kept photos of all his disciples in his study - including Yashiro. Kazumi saw Mako hugging Yashiro's picture to her chest tenderly, so he suspected that she had a link to him. He never acted on it, though.
  • Driven by Envy: Why Tsukumo killed Yashiro.
  • Drowning Pit: Yashiro died while performing a trick inside a water tank that went horribly wrong... due to Tsukumo tampering with it.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Ayano doesn't know that her dad's dead.
  • I Have Your Wife: Or better said, "I Have Your Little Daughter And I'll Kill Her If You Don't Let Me Show You My Best Trick And Then Kill You for Killing My Older Brother"
  • Knight Templar Little Sister and Love Makes You Evil: Mako killed her "mentor" because he killed her beloved older brother Yashiro.
  • Promotion to Parent: Yashiro had to raise his little sister Mako
  • Tall, Dark and Handsome: Yuji and Kazumi
  • Tall, Dark and Bishoujo: Mako

The Yabuchi family

The Yabuchi family (Hiromi, Hidekazu, Yoshichika, Yoshifusa, Yoshiyuki, Keiko and Machiko Yabuchi. Also, Carlos and Dickson Tanaka)

The second group from "The Cornered Famous detective! Two big murder cases". Yukiko Kudo has suddenly come from the USA, and manages to get Conan to stay with her for the weekend. The next day she's summoned by her childhood friend Hiromi Yabuchi, whose father Yoshichika died recently; her uncle Yoshifusa has arrived from Brazil alongside his bodyguard Carlos, but she's sure something strange is going on and thus she asks Yukiko for help. Conan senses something fishy is going on, thus he must protect his mother and defuse whatever plan is brewing behind closed doors.

  • Big Fancy House: The Yabuchis live in a pretty big traditional Japanese complex.
  • Big Screwed-Up Family: Hiromi and her husband Hidekazu are pretty good people, but her younger brother Yoshiyuki and his wife Keiko are huge Jerk Asses. Let's not even talk about Machiko...
  • But Not Too Foreign: Carlos turns out to be the real Yoshifusa's son with a black Brazilian woman.
  • Dead Person Impersonation: The man we know as Yoshifusa Yabuchi is actually Dickson Tanaka, a Brazilian man with Japanese blood, who is impersonating his dead friend Yoshifusa to protect said friend's son and heir... Carlos.
  • Gold Digger: Implied in the case of Machiko.
  • Karmic Death: Machiko wanted to kill her brother-in-law to get more of her husband's inheritance. Too bad she tried to stab said brother-in-law while in the bath... and he (or better said, his stand-in) killed her in self-defense.
  • The Maiden Name Debate: Hidekazu took up Hiromi's surname since she was the eldest daughter of the rich Yabuchi family.
  • May-December Romance: Yoshichika and Mariko, who is barely older than his adult kids.
  • Papa Wolf and Parental Substitute: Dickson/Yoshifusa thinks Carlos is like a son to him. He will do everything in his power to make sure Carlos will be safe and won't be cheated out of his share of his uncle's inheritance.
  • Red Herring: Keiko, who set a small trap with a crossbow to scare off Dickson/Yoshifusa. She wasn't the killer, though.
  • Scary Black Man: Carlos. Subverted: He only looks scary and is actually a Nice Guy Gentle Giant, more shy and a little child-like than scary.
  • Smug Snake: Machiko, Keiko and Yoshiyuki. Machiko is far worse, though.
  • Theme Naming: Three of the males in the Yabuchi family have names starting with Yoshi: patriarch Yoshichika, uncle Yoshifusa, and son Yoshiyuki.
  • Unexpected Successor: Everyone was shocked to know that Carlos was taking the place of his dead father Yoshifusa among the inheritors. Yoshichika did know, but he didn't tell anyone -- except for signaling it in the tape that was his last will.
  • Undying Loyalty: Dickson took up the Yoshifusa Yabuchi name out of loyalty for his deceased friend/business partner and his child Carlos.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Dickson would stab a girl, but only to defend himself when she attacks him with a knife.

Reika Yotsui and her entourage

Reika Yotsui and her entourage (Mr. Yotsui, Takashi Ichieda, Yuji Nikaidou, Takaya Mifune, Osamu Gojou, Masao Rokuda, Nanao Yone, Yaeko Yone)

The people involved in the Billionaire Birthday Blues / Wealthy Daughter Murder case. Reika Yotsui is a callous Rich Bitch with an Unwanted Harem who invites the Mouris and Conan to her birthday party since Kogoro found her lost puppydog. Everything goes well until the party is over and Kogoro, Ran, Conan and several others have to stay in the village due to a mysterious problem... Reika then disappears, one of her suitors is found dead, and Ran is drugged up and almost drowned to death. What the Hell is going on?!

  • Ambiguously Brown: Mifune has a much darker skin tone than the rest, but it's never brought up.
  • And I Must Scream: See the Nightmare Fuel page for a detailed description. *shudder*
  • Asshole Victim: Two of them.
  • Bound and Gagged: The reason why Reika couldn't escape from a...
  • Drowning Pit: One improvised inside a deep bath tub!
  • Lady in Red: Reika wore two red dresses. A Pimped-Out Dress for the party, and a much simpler one when her lifeless body was found.
  • It's Personal: Ran was attacked. Conan was most pissed off.
  • Love Makes You Evil: Had Yaeko not been murdered by Nikaidou and Reika, Ichieda wouldn't have killed them.
  • Nice Guy: Rokuda and Gojou
  • Numerical Theme Naming: The characters here have numbers that goes from 1 to 7 or 8.
  • Old Retainer: Yone, to the Yotsuis.
  • Rich Bitch: Reika, and how. She's so selfish and cruel that she and Nikaidou killed a girl (implied to be Reika's childhood friend in the past!), purely to save their own butts.
  • Unwanted Harem: Ichieda, Nikaidou, Mifune, Rokuda and Gojou were this to Reika. In a subversion, Ichieda actually loved Yaeko, and only stayed close to Reika to find the moment to kill her and Nikaidou.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: Yone and Yaeko.

The Nagato family and entourage

The Nagato family and entourage (Dousan, Nobuko, Yasue, Hideomi, and Mitsuaki Nagato; Kuranosuke Take, Miyuki Hyuuga)

The people from the "Distinguished Family's Consecutive Accidental Death Case". A rich old man who's ill and not expected to live for long, Dousan Nagato, hires Kogoro to find his first love. Which is a cover to investigate several odd things that have happened in his Big Fancy House. All of a sudden, however, two persons are dead. What happened, what was the secret they both held, and will Conan find out the truth alongside Heiji, who's been called in too?

  • The Atoner: What Hideomi truly was, encouraging and helping Miyuki since he and Mitsuaki killed her parents via causing the fire in which they died. Also that's where he got his scars from, having rescued little Miyuki from the same fire.
  • Because Destiny Says So: Miyuki says she believes that her and Hideomi are destined to be together, since they've been "tied via a destiny made of fire" for a long time.
  • Big Screwed-Up Family: Not as big as others, but pretty fucked up. Yasue and Chairman Nagato were pretty nice persons, but Mitsuaki, Hideomi and Nobuko have... issues.
  • Broken Bird: Miyuki.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: The fact that Mitsuaki wanted to kill his father-in-law to take full control of the Nagato enterprise places him squarely here.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Conan sees a familiar man among the police, but doesn't recognize him. That man is Heizo Hattori, actually an old friend of Chairman Nagato... and Heiji shows up almost immediately afterwards.
  • Christmas Cake: When Nobuko bitchslaps Miyuki, Nagato speculates it's because "she hasn't found a husband". Considering that Nobuko is 39 years old, way past the "limit"... yeah.

Conan: With that personality, it's not like she'll ever get married...

  • Despair Event Horizon: Poor, poor Miyuki.
  • Driven to Suicide: Hideomi. Miyuki found his lifeless body and then pretended to join Mitsuaki in his plan to kill Chairman Nagato, only to betray and kill Mitsuaki later.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: Hideomi has half his face burned off. They turn out to be Good Scars... sorta.
  • Hikikomori: Hideomi, after he got scarred, left school and holed himself up in his room to write his novels without needing to interact with anyone.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Mitsuaki's death, when Miyuki stabs his hand with her pen and makes him fall from the balcony.
  • Love Hurts: And holy goddamned shit, HOW. This case is a huge Tear Jerker.
  • The Maiden Name Debate: Mitsuaki, Yasue's husband, took up the family name.
  • Malevolent Masked Man: Hideomi is believed to be this, using bandages instead of a mask to cover his hideous scars. He wasn't evil. And actually, the man in "mask" we saw... was a disguised Mitsuaki.
  • No Hero to His Valet: Nobuko treats Miyuki quite badly, believing her to be a Gold Digger who takes advantage of Hideomi's isolation to get close to the family. It's far more complicated.
  • Sexy Secretary: Miyuki.
  • Smug Snake: Mitsuaki
  • Spoiled Sweet: Yasue is remarkably sweet and kind, and gets along well with Miyuki. Pity her husband Mitsuaki is, well, a Smug Snake...
  • Tragic Keepsake: Miyuki's burned fountain pen, which belonged to her deceased father.
    • Chekhov's Gun: Miyuki uses it to stab Mitsuaki's hand when she tries to throw him off the balcony and he holds on to her. Then he falls off to his death.
      • Furthermore... the pen didn't belong to Miyuki's dad, but to her mother. Nagato gave it to her when they were kids, and it's the proof that the girl he loved in the past was Miyuki's mom.
  • Together in Death: Miyuki tries invoking this when she attempts to commit suicide to be with Hideomi. It fails since she wanted to burn herself to death with a gasoline thermos and her lighter, but Conan and Heiji had switched the fuel with water.
  • Unlucky Childhood Friend: Chairman Nagato was this as a kid, to the lady that he wants Kogoro to find for him. That woman was actually Miyuki's Missing Mom.

Raita Banba and Hatsune Kamon

Raita Banba and Hatsune Kamon

Raita is one of Kogoro's high school friends and Hatsune is his fiancee. The night before their wedding, however, Hatsune is burned to death in her car and it soon comes out that both of them were having the other investigated on suspicion of infidelity. Hatsune wanted to see if he'd flirt with other women and Raita hired a detective after becoming suspicious of her interactions with Tooru Amuro, who turns out to be the detective she'd hired to investigate him. Could Raita's jealousy have gone too far?

The attendants of the Night Baron Tour

The attendants of the Night Baron Tour (Hideko Kamijou, Tokio Ebara, Satoru Maeda, Genichirou Kaneshiro, Shizune Hayashi, Shiro Konnou, Akiko Sayama)

Via Dr. Agasa, Conan finds out that there's a tour to a famous hotel featuring his father's iconic character, the Night Baron, as a main theme. Agasa was supposed to go but his companion and his granddaughter had to relinquish their spots, so Conan and the Mouris go in their place. It's a good thing, though, since it turns out that one of the attendants is a massive Jerkass named Tokio Ebara... and he's gruesomely killed while wearing a Night Baron outfit!

  • Bob Haircut: Sayama and Ebara. A Chekhov's Gun, since Sayama doesn't need a wig to disguise herself as the Night Baron... and Maeda finds the wig...
  • Blow You Away: The Himekaze aka the "Wind of the Princess", which blows in that particular time of the year. And is the reason why Ebara landed on the statue, when he wasn't supposed to. Wasn't helped by him wearing a cape in that moment.
  • Broken Bird: Sayama, in the end.
  • Broken Pedestal: Ran was very depressed when Maeda's Taking the Heat act makes her believe that he's the killer.
  • Chieko Honda: As Akiko Sayama aka the Sympathetic Murderer.
  • Dead Little Sister: In Sayama's case, a deceased older brother whom Ebara got Driven to Suicide.
  • Destination Defenestration: Conan is found snooping around by the killer and then gets thrown off a balcony. He survives, since he landed on the pool
    • This was also how Sayama (the one who threw Conan off, but only to scare him away) killed Ebara. Though the thing with him being Impaled with Extreme Prejudice was a coincidence.
  • Dirty Old Man: Subverted: Ebara is VERY dirty minded, but is also Younger Than They Look. Seriously, he's only in his 30's!
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Ebara's lifeless body was found impaled on a statue. Aaaaaugh!.
  • Love Martyr: Maeda, as bitterly lampshaded by Hayama herself.
  • Looks Like Cesare: Konnou the banker, a very tall and pale man with dark hair and Stoic Spectacles.
  • Honey Trap: Sayama used herself as such, to trap Ebara and then kill him. She invited him to her and Maeda's room, spiked his drink, dressed him up as the Night Baron and threw him off the balcony.
  • MacGuffin: There's a diskette to be won by the people in the tour, containing a nasty computer virus that is called the Night Baron. Its creator was Sayama's brother, but Ebara stole it and ruined his career, which drove him to kill himself. Ebara tried to sell it to his ex-wifde, Kamijou, but she saw right through him and stopped its distribution.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Old man Kaneshiro was not blind.
  • Show Hayami: As Konnou. He's... NOT the killer! Surprise!
  • Taking the Heat: Maeda was willing to divert attention to himself and be send to jail, rather than letting Sayama be punished.
  • Tall, Dark and Bishoujo: Sayama and Kamijou
