Ojamajo Doremi/Characters
This is the character sheet for the second of Toei's Magical Girl trio, Ojamajo Doremi.
The Ojamajos
Doremi Harukaze
Voiced by: Chiemi Chiba (Japanese), Amy Palant (English)
"Pirika pirilala poporina peperuto!"
- Butt Monkey
- Catch Phrase: "I'm the unluckiest bishoujo in the world!"
- Cool Loser: This Loser Is You, but it takes the span of the whole series for Doremi to realize she has more True Companions than she thinks. Also, she gets along with all of her classmates, gets to take care of a cute baby, and gets to do magic... as pointed out by Mirei (of the fan site Candy Flower fame), what does she actually consider being lucky?
- Dojikko: She's practically the poster girl!
- Dub Name Change: "Dorie Goodwyn" in the 4Kids dub.
- Hair Decorations: A music note in one of her Odango, further emphasizing her Meaningful Name.
- Genki Girl
- Heroic BSOD: Doremi goes through one during the Dokkan series finale. Also occurs when Non-chan dies in Naisho.
- Hey, It's That Voice!: Her seiyū is Chiemi Chiba, who also voiced Saki Mimori from Pilot Candidate. Ironically both characters have bright red hair.
- Large Ham
- Meaningful Name: Her first name is literally the first three notes of the musical scale.
- Made of Iron: She crashed headfirst into Majo Reed's home and made a real mess and was none the worse for wear. Hazuki even lampshades it.
- Naive Everygirl: Doremi does get more mature as the series progress, but she's essentially the everygirl.
- Odango: Huge ones at that, though they shrink at the start of Motto.
- Official Couple: Although Doremi and Kotake start out having tons of Belligerent Sexual Tension with occasional moments of Aw, Look -- They Really Do Love Each Other, it turns out that Doremi gave a Love Confession to Kotake when they were in 8th grade. This quickly turned into Unresolved Sexual Tension until two years later, Kotake finally replies to her.
- Red Headed Heroine
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: to Pop's blue.
- She's also the Red Oni to Hazuki's Blue too.
- Slipknot Odango: Her Odango come lose when her crystal shatters in the end of Sharp.
- The Power of Friendship
- This Loser Is You
- Trademark Favorite Food: She's crazy about steak, but too bad she rarely ever gets any.
- Unlucky Childhood Friend
- Verbal Tic: "Bu, bu, buuu!"
Hazuki Fujiwara
Voiced by: Tomoko Akiya (Japanese), Rebecca Handler (English)
"Paipai ponpoi puwapuwa puu!"
- Balloon Belly: In an episode of Dokkan, Hazuki is forced to pretend she is Hana during a school trip due to Hana turning back to her original form and also has to eat her dinner alongside her own.
- Brainy Brunette
- Covert Pervert: You'd think shy little Hazuki simply would blush at the mention of peeping a look at Kotake undressing.
- Dub Name Change: Name changed to "Reanne Griffith" in the 4kids dub.
- Lonely Rich Kid
- Meganekko
- The Ojou
- Opaque Lenses: They occasionally turn into Scary Shiny Glasses.
- Parental Abandonment: Her parents are around and they do care for her, but her father is usually away and doesn't have a good relationship with her mother, who despite her good intentions sometimes seems to treat her more like a doll than a real child.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Blue to Doremi's Red
- Ship Tease: She gets plenty of this with Masaru Yada to the extent that her friends act as Shippers On Deck regarding their "friendship", and they do eventually become an Official Couple in the Light Novel. The ship teasing could also constitute for some of the Les Yay shipping as well.
- Shrinking Violet
- Spell My Name with an "S": The subs call her Hadzuki. This is probably to emphasize that her name is spelled with the kana for "tsu." With the dakuten, it's pronounced "zu" anyway, but that spelling indicates how her name is written.
- Static Character/Demoted to Extra: Especially later in the series, she and Aiko (to a lesser extent) are mostly ignored in favor of the other main characters. They also tend to not always be drawn as well.
- Why Did It Have To Be Ghosts?: She even has a Verbal Tic to unsuccessfully counter her fear: "Majorika! Majorika!"
Aiko Senoo
Voiced by: Yuki Matsuoka (Japanese), Annice Moriarity (English)
"Pameruku laluku laliloli poppun!"
- Balloon Belly: In an episode of Dokkan, Aiko is forced to pretend she is Doremi due to Hana turning back into her original form and also has to eat Doremi's dinner alongside with hers.

- Genre Savvy: She figured that something was fishy during one of the tests during Season 1 and gave falsified information to make the test easier for herself and her friends.
- Subverted more or less during later seasons.
- The Idiot From Osaka: Okay, not really an idiot, but still.
- Idiot Hair: Again, not really an idiot, but she has it.
- Kansai Regional Accent: The 4Kids dub renders this as a country drawl.
- Missing Mom: Her parents are divorced and she lives with her dad.
- New Transfer Student
- Ship Tease / Les Yay: Usually with Momoko or Onpu.
- Show the Forehead
- Spell My Name with an "S": Aiko's last name is romanized differently on a bunch of official merchandise. Sharp merchandise lists it as "Senoo", Motto merchandise lists it as "Seno", and Dokkan merchandise lists it as "Senoh."
- Tomboy
- Trademark Favorite Food: She loves her takoyaki!
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair
Pop Harukaze
Voiced by: Sawa Ishige (Japanese), Liza Jacqueline (English)
"Pipito purito puriton peperuto!"
- Annoying Younger Sibling: At first.
- Can't Catch Up: She doesn't start taking her tests until Sharp, and finally gets her crystal in the penultimate episode of Dokkan.
- Deadpan Snarker: In the 4kids dub at least.
- Dub Name Change: "Caitlyn Goodwyn" in the 4Kids dub.
- Girlish Pigtails
- Heavy Sleeper: This is the reason why she started so late.
- Little Miss Snarker
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Blue to Doremi's Red.
- Rose-Haired Girl
- Spell My Name with an "S": Pop's name is literally romanized as "Poppu", but official merchandising spells her name as "Pop."

- Girlish Pigtails: Just one, but still.
- Gratuitous English: We can do anything if we do it together~
- Heel Face Turn: She was first Majoruka's apprentice, and switched sides by Sharp.
- Idol Singer
- Meaningful Name: Onpu means "note".
- Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: Her head and hairstyle literally resembles a musical note.
- New Transfer Student
- Non-Standard Character Design: She's the first character not to have pupils. Every character from Onpu on, for some reason, does not have pupils.
- Spell My Name with an "S": Onpu's name was romanized as "Ompoo" on a design sketch in Sharp and as "Ompu" on a design sketch in Motto.
- You Gotta Have Purple Hair
Momoko Asuka
Voiced by: Nami Miyahara (Japanese)
"Peruton petton palalila pon!"
- Big Ol' Eyebrows: Bigger than everyone else's at least, and highlighted in the Naisho Ending Theme.
- Brutal Honesty: Causes a bit of problems with Hazuki and Onpu at first.
- But Not Too Foreign: Although Momoko is a New Transfer Student from New York, both her parents are Japanese.
- Catch Phrase: "Oh my God!" seems to be one.
- Cloudcuckoolander: Whenever she gets excited about something.
- Demoted to Extra: In Dokkan, she had little to no Character Development (mainly because Motto gave her enough of it) or memorable moments, almost to the point where you could easily erase her from the script without affecting the main storyline.
- The Ditz
- Genki Girl
- Large Ham
- Lotus Eater Machine: Get's trapped in one near the end of Motto when Majo Tourbillon possesses her.
- Manic Pixie Dream Girl: She was this a lot in Motto before Hana had a Plot-Relevant Age-Up.
- Non-Standard Character Design: Like Onpu, Momoko does not have pupils. Similarly, her hair is less "bulby" and more "hairlike." Even Hazuki's hair (previously the most realistic) is usually shown more like a single, connected thing, but Momoko's hair looks more like it actually consists of individual strands. It's a bit jarring.
- New Transfer Student
- Phenotype Stereotype
- Ship Tease / Les Yay: Pretty much with everyone in the main cast. She's posed as Onpu's husband and Aiko's boyfriend before.
- Surprisingly Good English: She lived in America for most of her life, so she had to relearn Japanese.
- Talking to Himself: Nami Miyahara did Momoko's and Masaru's voices.
- Translator Microbes
- Why Did It Have To Be Ghosts?: Hazuki can tell her stories.

- The Ingenue
- I Choose to Stay
- Kid Appeal Character

- Love Confession: to Doremi. It's one of the final two things that helps Doremi out of her Heroic BSOD.
- Pet the Dog: a literal example in season 1. He gets more throughout the series.
Tamaki Reika
- Alpha Bitch: Brilliantly lampshaded by Momoko.
- Dub Name Change: Josie in the 4kids dub.
- Hair of Gold
- Jerkass
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold / Hidden Depths:Spoiled Brat as she is, Tamaki isn't completely evil either. Her focus episode in the first season has her going through an Heroic BSOD when she doubts that her Bumbling Dad truly loves her and bonding with Ill Girl Shiori.
- Character Development: She gains even more sympathetic development during Motto, where her self-centered and bratty behavior is revealed to be caused by her loneliness and insecurity. Momoko sees through this and becomes close friends with her, and also helps others to see Reika's true self.

- Ironic Hell: Spent season 2 trying to kidnap Hana. Spends season 3 and most of season 4 helping out at the Witch Kindergarten.
