This character sheet is for the webcomic Hanna Is Not a Boy's Name. A lot of nifty facts can be found on the official cast page, so check it out for Word of God and stuff.

Hanna Falk Cross

The hero of the piece: red-haired, extroverted, enthusiastic, and loyal (though not the sharpest crayon in the box). He is also an Occult Detective, which in his case means a lot of running around, meeting supernatural beings and occasionally using his magic hammer and magic marker to rectify things.

• Achey Scars / I'm Having Soul Pains: when a ghost passes through him, he passes out and appears to be in sizable pain.
• Adorkable
• Ambiguously Human
• Animals Hate Him
• Beware the Nice Ones: And don't mess with his friends.
• Big Guy, Little Guy: played with and somewhat averted: Zombie is never portrayed as a 'dumb but loveable' type, and is often more insightful and realistic then Hanna. That said, the contrast between them is pretty noticeable.

• Body Horror: Implied not to have any internal organs or at the very least a very hollow remnant of them

• Horrible Judge of Character: Hanna thought it was a perfectly sound idea to trust the vampire bat Adelaide. It wasn't.
• Improbable Weapon User: Hanna uses a hammer and sharpie for ghost hunting.

• The Napoleon: Averted. Hanna's a tiny guy (5'3" on a good day,) but seems pretty comfortable with his stature.

• Occult Detective: though his skill at the job is so far debatable.
• Older Than They Look: He looks like a teen, but he's 24. No, really.
• The Pollyanna: Hanna isn't an overwhelming example, but he's hinted to have a pretty harsh past and is still easily the most optimistic and extroverted of the main cast.

• Squishy Wizard: He's 5'3 and skinny as a rail, and relies on his rune-writing abilities for most of his offense.
• Stop Helping Me!: Hanna 'helped' Conrad remove a vampire from his apartment... By accidentally turning him into one.
• Unfortunate Names: He likes his name well enough though.
• Weirdness Magnet
• Wide-Eyed Idealist: A fairly understated and well handled one.

{...}/Zombie

{...}/Dotdotdot/Zombie/Gallahad/Imhotep/etc is Hanna's colleague and best friend. He is green, undead and vaguely Asianish. He also (at first glance) appears to have only one expression (of mild misery), but in fact exhibits a wide range of emotions - in a non-showy way. Oh, and he's the comic's narrator.

• Anime Hair: He appears to have wings on his head, but it's really just white tufts of hair.
• Dark Is Not Evil: People generally have a negative impression of The Undead, but he's actually a pretty nice guy.
• First-Person Smartass: {...}'s narration is deadpan and wry, contrasting the high-energy feel of the comic and pointing out the ridiculous things that happen in it.
• Ghost Amnesia: Zombie doesn't even remember what his name was.
• Glowing Eyelights of Undeath
• Good Scars, Evil Scars: Averted; he's covered in scars (including, although it's yet to be shown, an autopsy incision) that aren't raised but are closed with ugly black thread.
• Inscrutable Oriental: If he is in fact Asian.
• Jacob Marley Apparel: Wears the clothes he un-died in, although it's a borderline case since he changes jackets and hats.
• The Lancer
• Laser-Guided Amnesia / Identity Amnesia: Dying and being buried for over ten years can do that to you. Subverted in that Zombie's old identity no longer matters to him.
• Nice Hat: his fedoras.
• No Name Given: Hanna keeps trying to name him, but they never stick for long. (He likes Gallahad best, so far.)

• Our Zombies Are Different: He has no interest in mauling people or eating brains, and is a fairly normal guy aside from being dead. Also, he clearly has sapience, though no memory of his past.

• The Stoic: Zombie is capable of a range of emotions—and is actually shown to be rather caring and empathetic—but it doesn't register very often on his face, leading people to believe he is one of these.
  • Hanna lampshades this by keeping tabs of every time Zombie smiles.
• Suddenly Ethnicity: He's apparently Asian.
• Sugar and Ice Personality

• Tall, Dark and Snarky: He's taller than much of the cast, oddly good-looking for a green corpse and quietly snarky.
  • From we saw of him briefly in his Journey to the Center of the Mind moment, he's definitely this trope. And yay for that.
• Team Mom: Zombie's a bit of an unconventional example, but he is something of an Only Sane Man who tries to keep the others from hurting themselves. Always rushing to protect his allies; Zombie even goes as far as to put himself between friends and their attacker. He even cooks for Hanna!
  • Wait, he cooks for Hanna?
    • According to Word of God.
    • Canon here, in the Christmas strip.
  • "...but don't think you're gotten out of talking about running off on your own." The "young man" was practically silently tacked on the end.

• The Undead

Conrad Dillon Achenleck

Rounding up the Power Trio (see above for the other two) is Conrad - a wussy, neurotic, but very, VERY angry designer. He comes to Hanna in the first chapter with an appeal for help and ends up being turned into a vampire. Which sucks because, as a vampire, Conrad is not particularly competent (i.e. the thought of biting some random stranger's filthy neck doesn't fill him with joy and anticipation). Still, he scrapes by the best he can.

• Butt Monkey: One of Tessa's favourite things to do seems to be scaring, hurting or otherwise torturing Conrad. And it can only get worse from here on out.
• Chew Toy: The poor guy hires a paranormal investigator to get rid of a vampire and ends up becoming one.
• Cute Little Fangs: Actually, there's only one fang to speak of.
• The Chick: Albeit a grouchy and standoffish one.
• Emergency Transformation
• Foe Yay: With Doc Worth.
• Friendly Neighbourhood Vampire: Although the "friendly" part is debatable, he's pretty harmless.
• Gender Blender Name: Hanna calls him "Connie," though the fans started it.

• I Hate You, Vampire Dad: He still has some... mixed feelings about Hanna killing and resurrecting him.

Doc Worth

A highly shady, sleazy, crabby and unpleasant individual who is Hanna's go-to for all medical purposes. His unique specialization (dealing with non-humans) is probably the only thing that keeps his business going, since he's not even a proper doctor but rather a med-school dropout. His main hobbies seem to be smoking, looking suspicious, fighting with his best friend/partner in crime Lamont and insulting Conrad who he is allegedly "keen on".

• Animal Motifs: vulture.
• Australian Accent: Reportedly. It's also mostly unintelligible and peppered with profanities.
• Back-Alley Doctor
• Big Brother Instinct: Interviews reveal that he does in fact have a younger sister, and might have just a touch of a protective streak over her (to bad for him she’s apparently a swimsuit model)
• Chaotic Neutral: The author describes him as a "miscellaneous jerk."
• Cluster F-Bomb
• Dr. Jerk: He's not a genius to make up for his Jerkass-ishness, but Worth does seem to have a rather... unique specialization.
• Ensemble Darkhorse / Draco in Leather Pants: Apparently, sleaze is sexy.

• Fur and Loathing: Though he's not so much evil as he is simply a dick.
• Jerk with a Heart of Jerk
• Last-Name Basis: Referred to as either "Doc" or "Worth". His first name is Luce.
• Morality Pet: Hanna kind of seems to be this, a little. Doc has forbidden Hanna in past from dealing with ghosts, apparently because they always hurt him. He knows Hanna will disregard what he forbids him to do, so he urges {...} to look after him.
• Mad Doctor

• Satisfied Street Rat: is very content and happy, despite living in filth, being unqualified for his job, having troubles with finances and dealing with the supernatural on a regular basis.
• The Smart Guy: Well, he certainly has more sense than Hanna and he DID get into med school...

• Token Minority: Comic-wise, he's one of the very few humans.

Toni Ipres

No, she's not in a band. (It's theater). No, she won't tell you where she buys those clothes. (They are cool though, aren't they?). No, she's not a weird human. (She's a werewolf). And YES, she WILL go berserk on you if you threaten one of her friends.

• Action Girl: So far she appears to be one of the most competent protagonists at fighting.
• The Big Guy: Despite not being big nor a guy.
• Hair Decorations: She wears a green cross-shaped barette.
• Non-Human Sidekick
• Older Than They Look: According to a character Q&A, she became a werewolf in the 80s. Assuming the comic's set in or near the present, she's probably a couple decades or so older than she looks.
  • Or she was born that way in the 80s. Hanna is 24 and he says Toni is around his age.
• Only Sane Man: Of a sort, if only by virtue of lacking a Weirdness Censor and being able to notice some unusual details about Hanna's compadres.
• Mama Wolf: No, really, don't screw with her friends. Unless you feel like getting bitch-slapped by a werewolf.
• Our Werewolves Are Different
• Ridiculously Cute Critter: Toni's werewolf form is usually something along the lines of a Big Badass Wolf, but due to her power source being damaged, she takes this form.
  • Hau, I'm Taking Her Home with Me!
    • Hanna agrees.
• Sleep Mode Size: Since her talisman is broken, she has to take the form of a small dog instead of a full werewolf in order to conserve its energy.
• Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: with Conrad.
• Strange Girl
• Twofer Token Minority: A girl, half-Asian, half-Latina, and a werewolf (in a comic where werewolves are rare).
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: Normally. Unfortunately, this strip shows that it's currently involuntary, as long as her talisman is broken.
• Weakness Turns Her On: Fans who ship her with Conrad tend to portray their relationship this way.

Veser Amaker Hatch

Big-eyed, sharp-toothed and ready to say something inappropriate at any given moment, Veser is a 19-year-old college student who happens to harbor several secrets: for one thing, he has Abusive Parents, and for another, one of his parents is not quite human.

• Abusive Parents: His dad clubs baby seals.
  • We don't know much about his mom, but their relationship probably isn't great either: he once commented that he's lucky she didn't drown him as a baby out of spite.
• Animal Motifs: Sharks
• Deadpan Snarker: More snark than deadpannery, but still.
• Goggles Do Nothing: Veser has a pair of goggles hanging around his neck, but he hasn't been seen using them yet.
  • He has them on here, but this is only on Tessa's deviantART.
• Green Eyes: hinting at both his unusual parentage and his connection with nature.
• Jerkass Woobie: "Veser isn't a bad kid, he's just in a bad situation." A really, really bad situation.
• Half-Human Hybrid: He's is the child of a human and a selkie, although he doesn't really have much to show for it but a wonderfully dysfunctional family.
• Handsome Lech: Those shark teeth don't stop the ladies, apparently. He's almost to the point of Anything That Moves, if the artist's doodles are anything to judge from.
• Hotblooded Sideburns
• More Teeth Than the Osmond Family: Rawr.
• Non-Human Sidekick

Ples Tibenoch

Accountant by day, clockwork aficionado by night. Sports the look of a Victorian gentleman and looks good in britches. Also, technically, he has only just appeared in the current storyline.

• Asexuality: Stone stated in a recent live stream that he's borderline.
• Awesome Anachronistic Apparel
• Ensemble Darkhorse: He has a massive fanbase despite having only four lines in the comic so far during a Flash Back sequence. The author confessed that she's afraid Ples won't live up to everyone's expectations when he's formally introduced.
• Evil Overlooker: in the poster. Even if he's probably not evil.
• Jekyll and Hyde
• Kaleidoscope Eyes: They go from blue to Eyes of Gold in his first two appearances, more than the lighting would seem to account for.
• Never Gets Drunk: Ples "does seem to drink a lot though, according to friends and co-workers. But he holds his liquor very well and never seems to get drunk in front of others."
• Sharp-Dressed Man

• Younger Than They Look: He is in his mid-thirties like Doc and (probably) Lamont, but looks considerably older than either of them.

Lee Falun

Once a boring human, now a horrifying ghost who's lost most of his personality and seems to have retained only the negative aspects. When alive, was best friends with Veser's dad, which presupposes a spectacular talent at ignoring the unpleasant but obvious.

• Dem Bones: As a ghost, he looks like a glowing skeleton.
• Glowing Eyelights of Undeath
• Horrible Judge of Character
• Honorary Uncle: To Veser, bordering on Parental Substitute.
• Intergenerational Friendship: He and Veser seemed pretty close, although Lee was oblivious to the cause of the latter's bruises and sour disposition.
• Loss of Identity: He kept his memories after he died, but lost his personality and conscience. Making him the opposite of Zombie, in a way.
• Nice Guy
• Tear Jerker: His entire backstory. Even the Cast Page Alt Text can't think of anything funny to say.
• Unlucky Everydude: Lee was in love with his best friend's wife, which was the cause of his undoing.
• The Woobie: Poor thing.
• Who Dunnit to Me?

Casimiro and Finas

Those Two Guys.

Two vampires who are powerful (but low-ranking) and "proper" (meaning they actually do suck blood). They complement each other's personalities nicely and travel everywhere together, to the puzzlement of those around them.

• Ambiguously Brown: Casimiro's skin is quite dark for a vampire. Word of God says that, being Italian, Cas was just very tanned when he died.
• Big Brother Mentor: One could imagine that Casimiro's brashness gets him into trouble more often than not. Fortunately, he has the older, wiser Finas to tell him when to sit down and shut up.
• Cheshire Cat Grin: Casimiro's the kind of guy who will cheerfully kick you in the face and tell you it was just "in good fun". At times he seems to walk the line between Cheshire Cat Grin and Slasher Smile.
• Fully-Embraced Fiend
• Evil Eye: Casimiro is blind in his left eye due to a painful curse, which also makes it completely white.
• Good Hair, Evil Hair: Cas has a soul patch. Finas rocks a goatee.
• The Hedonist: both of them, according to the cast page.
• Heterosexual Life Partners
• Hollywood Pudgy: Some of the fans like to make fun of Finas for being "fat."
  • Although according to this it is actually just the opposite.
• Hot-Blooded: Casimiro.
• Mismatched Eyes: Casimiro.
• Multicolored Hair: Casimiro's is part black, part lighter brown.
• Odd Couple
• Red Eyes, Take Warning: all vampires.
• Red Oni, Blue Oni: Casimiro is red, Finas is blue.
• Stout Strength: Finas, who looks stout compared to the rest of the characters (excluding Lamont) but is actually all muscle underneath.
• The Stoic: Finas.
• Tranquil Fury: Casimiro may actually be scarier after he calms down.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: All vampires are supposed to be capable of this.

Adelaide

Vampire lady and Conrad's sire. She is beautiful and treacherous, as Hanna found the hard way after undoing her curse. Casimiro has some beef with her as well.

• Action Girl: Since vampires are very strong, her injuring-people-and-zombies skills are particularly impressive.
• Bat Out of Hell
• The Cat Came Back: While there is no word on how their last meeting actually went, Lamont’s reaction to seeing her in his car makes it seem like he might be a little …nervous, about her return.
• Cheshire Cat Grin: A subtle one.
• Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette
• Fangs Are Evil
• Femme Fatale
• Hair Color Dissonance: She's been drawn with either purple or dark green hair. It's actually black. Also, if there's such a thing as Eye Color Dissonance then that applies too, since they're often rendered as pink or purple instead of the red that all vampires have.
• Killer Rabbit: This is the horrible vampire that maimed Zombie and killed Conrad.
• Magnificent Bitch.
• Tertiary Sexual Characteristics: She is a pinkish purple when in bat form.
  • And in some panels appears to be wearing lipstick. As a bat.
• Red Eyes, Take Warning
• Woman Scorned: Implied in the interviews.

Lamont Toucey

Doc Worth's partner in crime and friend. Looking like a member of The Mafia, he is no less shady than his colleague - but considerably more polite and pleasant. He does business with the non-human populace of the city and is thus very knowledgeable about the suspicious characters who prowl the night.

• Character Tics: Laughs nervously when uncomfortable.
• Hollywood Pudgy: outside of the comic he'd look 100% average. In-comic, compared to the rest of the characters, all of them rail-thin, he's definitely on the stocky side.
• Knowledge Broker
• Luminescent Blush: Cue fangirl squealing. And speculation.
• Nice Guy
• Pointless Band-Aid: Usually depicted with a bandage on his cheek.
  • Justified, he and Worth occasionally punch each other.
• Vitriolic Best Buds: As stated above, he and Worth express their friendship by hitting each other. Also it seems like Worth might be one of the few people he allows himself to act rudely towards.

Abner Van Slyk

Vampire hunter who has very recently made an appearance in the comic. He is mysophobic (that's "fear of germs" for ya) to the point of wearing a mask and gloves at all times. However, he seems to think his pet ferret Paradox (or Para-Para) is completely clean, and carrying the animal around and kissing him is apparently A-OK.

(That kissing thing was not zoophilia, promise).

• Badass Normal: One of the few truly human characters in the cast, and also one of the most Badass.
• Evil Redhead
  • Multicolored Hair (part red, part black)
• Flaw Exploitation / Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Supposedly the route to defeating him.
• The Hunter: Of vampires. Don't take it personally, though. After all, he is a professional.
• Loyal Animal Companion: Paradox goes almost everywhere with him, even while vampire-hunting.
• Malevolent Masked Man: He wears a surgical mask, accompanied by goggles. This means that his only visible facial feature in the vampire-hunting getup is his eyebrows.
