Get to know the characters from the high school Slice of Life anime and manga series Lucky Star.

(To avoid Name Order Confusion, note that is this a Given Name-first character sheet.)

The Main Characters

Konata Izumi

Voiced by: Ryo Hirohashi (JP [Drama CD/NDS game]), Aya Hirano (JP [Anime/PS2 game]) and Wendee Lee (EN)

A diminutive high schooler who's much more interested in video games, anime and manga than doing actual schoolwork. Her interest in popular culture is truly staggering.

Actor Allusion: In the anime, she's a fan of Aya Hirano, her own seiyuu; she also dresses up as Haruhi (and even does the voice) in a continued reference.
Adult Child: She's ecstatic at turning eighteen allowing her to buy H-Games without having to go through her dad, but still pretends to be a prepubescent kid (and can pull it off successfully) to get cheaper movie tickets... and that's among the least immature things she has done as an 18 year old...
- In her birthday arc in Volume 7, she admitted she has "eighth grade syndrome". Wrong Genre Savvy sets in once one realizes that this Japanese slang can be applied to actual eighth-graders, and with connotations of Emo with a taste for Melodrama. That being said, anyone older than eighth grade who has it probably qualifies for this trope.
Badass Bookworm: Considering her generally sedentary lifestyle, Konata is pretty damn athletic and physically capable. That is, when she wants to be.
Bare Your Midriff: She did this once but her dad didn't like it because Yutaka might imitate her.
Beauty Mark: Has one below the outer corner of her left eye.
Book Dumb: Hates reading words that are not enclosed by a speech bubble.
- Ironically, even light novels...
Brilliant but Lazy: To such levels that in a Volume 6 strip Kagami was unsurprised at the prospect of Konata getting into Tokyo University just because it's close to Akihabara (of course, she didn't get into so prestigious a university as Tokyo U).
Bi the Way: Implied—while she does... odd things to other girls, she stated she's not into real-life Les Yay.

Konata: "Well, yeah, that's true, but for now, I have no interest in being a lesbian in real life. It just all happened this way."

Cat Smile: A continuous one.
Characterization Marches On: Lampshaded by Yoshimizu himself at the end of Volume 1. At the onset Konata was supposedly a cool Gamer Chick who plays dumb, only to turn into a down-to-earth, full-blown Otaku. Orwellian Retcon was applied in the published volumes to make her image consistent.
Cloudcuckoolander: Her connection to reality outside games and anime is tenuous at best.
Cosplay Otaku Girl
Dawson Casting: Wendee Lee was 52 when she played Konata. This was exaggerated by the fact that Konata appeared to have some form of growth deficiency.
Dirty Old Man: Even though she is neither old or a man, Kagami thinks she is one anyway.
Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Legendary Girl "A!".
Eyes Always Shut: It's hard to find a single strip that her eyes are open throughout.
The Gadfly: After a certain amount of watching one can only wonder if Kagami would be a Tsundere at all if Konata didn't constantly mess with her.
Genre Savvy: Some of the time.
Green Eyes
The Hero
Hollywood Tone Deaf: It's amazing how far off-key Aya Hirano can go when she has to.
Idiot Hair: At least in one strip the Hiiragi twins could not recognize Konata but for her idiot hair.
Legal Jailbait: Promotional art and that Foot Focus scene plays tries to make her sexier than she really is...
Loners Are Freaks: Kagami has that kind of mentality towards her, even if she's far from a recluse.
Meaningful Name: Konata's name means "here". Her mother Kanata's name means "there". Or "this person" and "that person" respectively.
Missing Mom: Her mom died when she was young.
Moe: She's an in-universe invoker of this term to other girls, especially to her closest friends.
No Periods, Period: In the anime, Kagami seems to think she doesn't undergo one. Konata doesn't say anything on the subject.
Not Growing Up Sucks: Subverted. She sees herself catering for Lolicon interests.
Older Than They Look: At seventeen (later eighteen) years of age, she only stands at 142 cm (4'8"). Not really annoyed by that though.
Otaku Surrogate: In a series full of otakus, she stands out the most by virtue of having "male otaku" traits.
- One strip lampshaded that, saying she is only biologically female.
Petite Pride: Sometimes.
Proud to Be a Geek
Raised by Dudes
Rapunzel Hair: Ankle-length, even.
Ridiculous Procrastinator: We often get to see how much she procrastinates, yet her last-minute study can be amusingly effective at times.
The Rival: To Misao, over which of them "owns" Kagami, and to Kou (albeit one-sided on the latter's part), over arcade fighting games.
Sleepyhead: Even if her daytime drowsiness partly stems from her late-night anime watching and gaming, she belongs to the hardworking subtype of the trope.
Star-Making Role: This role fully cements Aya Hirano's success, one that started with Suzumiya Haruhi.
Strong Family Resemblance: Nearly a clone of her mom Kanata—down to her lack of growth spurt—except with her dad's skin tone and beauty mark.
Terrible Artist
Tights Under Shorts: She sometimes wears this with her casualwear, most notably in the manga.
Trademark Favorite Food: Chocolate cornets.
Troll: At least to Kagami.
Wrong Genre Savvy: Konata often talks about tripping event flags like she's in a Dating Sim, even though she's actually in a Slice of Life comedy.
You Gotta Have Blue Hair
Yuri Fangirl: She watches Strawberry Panic, and bought some of Hiyori's Minami/Yutaka Doujinshi at Comiket, although she's initially unaware that the latter was based on her otherwise innocent cousin.

Kagami Hiiragi

Voiced by: Ami Koshimizu (JP [Drama CD/NDS game]), Emiri Katou (JP [Anime/PS2 game) and Kari Wahlgren (EN)

Konata's closest friend and Tsukasa's older twin sister. She is easily angered by some of Konata's more... "playful" antics, but always seems to be the one who understands her hobbies. Her liking of Light Novels is also a driver of plot.

Bi the Way: May have a crush on Konata (which is hugely exploited in Fandom), but has also been interested in a heterosexual relationship.
Blue with Shock: Her standard reaction to Konata's quips.
Catch Phrase: "Mataku..."(Seriously.../Really...), whenever she's annoyed.
Challenge Gamer: Lampshaded in one episode, where she sees her friends having fun playing and is frustrated at herself for playing so seriously.
- This is quite similar to her tsun side in life, really.
Class Representative: Just Grade 10 in the manga, Grades 11-12 in the anime.

"It's my weight again! I gained it all back in, like, the blink of an eye!"

Curtains Match the Window
Deadpan Snarker: In the dub at least, she's usually annoyed when she snarks, but sometimes she's deadpan.
Generic Cuteness: Konata said Kagami would look forgettable should she cut off her pigtails in the manga. In the anime, she instead says Kagami needed to keep them since she's a Tsundere.
Girlish Pigtails: For Tsundere-tude.
The Lancer
Lethal Chef: Konata likes to Flanderize her as one, but she's just not as good as Tsukasa.
Luminescent Blush: Naturally, during her deredere moments. Displayed a full body blush during her defining Comiket scene (her whole face and even her hands turned red).
Miko: When her father is the local shrine's priest...
Moe: In-universe—her attitude is deemed adorable by Konata.
- And let's not forget that she won the 2008 Saimoe Tournament.
Muggle: She arguably plays this role in terms of otaku culture, although her prejudice in that is relatively minor. Her criticism is more concentrated in Konata's Dirty Old Man antics, irresponsible spending, laziness in studies, and the lack of a real-life goal.
Not So Above It All: Especially in the last episode.
Rapunzel Hair
Red Oni, Blue Oni: Kagami can either be Konata's blue or Tsukasa's red.
Sibling Yin-Yang: To Tsukasa.
Straight Man: Word of God—She's the most normal a Lucky Star character can get.
Tsundere: Her deredere side is not about romance but more on loneliness in general. Her Image Songs even have this—one is fast and upbeat, the other a bit slow and has lyrics hinting at her loneliness.
- Episode 10's "Lucky Channel" discusses at length whether "tsundere" is the right word to describe her.
Tsurime Eyes: The most significant feature to distinguish her from Tsukasa.
Yaoi Fangirl: Averted. Though she likes light novels, and specially Full Metal Panic!, her reaction when innocently grabbing a pretty graphical Sousuke/Gauron doujin at Comiket was a Luminescent Blush and a speedy exit.
You Gotta have Violet Hair
Zettai Ryouiki: Occasionally, thus giving her "Grade S" package.

Tsukasa Hiiragi

Voiced by: Mai Nakahara (JP [Drama CD/NDS game]), Kaori Fukuhara (JP [Anime/PS2 game]) and Michelle Ruff (EN)

Kagami's cheerful and very loopy younger twin sister. She's actually very good at home chores and cooking, although she sometimes has to ask for Kagami's help because she forgets things easily.

Adorkable - I'm SO taking her home with me.
Beautiful Dreamer: Awwwww. Granted, it's Kagami who discovers her sleeping, and there's no romantic intentions.
Blank White Eyes: Her standard reaction to Konata's quips.
Captain Ersatz: Of Akari Kamigishi of To Heart, at least when it comes to character designs.
The Chick
- Lampshaded at least twice in the anime; the first was when Konata gives her a school uniform for a birthday gift (Kagami is instantly reminded of To Heart); the other is when she's noticed by some otakus who call her Akira and how they ask her to say 'Hiroyuki-kun'

Expressive Hairpiece: Her bow occasionally droops when she's sad, springs up when she's happy, and spikes up when she freaks out.
Feminine Women Can Cook: One of the very few things she's good at is cooking.
Foil: She often serves as this to Konata and Kagami.
Heavy Sleeper: She wakes up at noon, sometimes later, and still thinks it's morning until someone points it out to her.
Idiots Cannot Catch Colds: Kagami says she always seems to be fine when everyone else is laid up, which Konata calls "inconspicuous"...
The Ingenue: A lesser degree of this trope when compared to Yutaka below.
Miko: When her father is the local shrine's priest...
Moe: Averted in-universe; Konata never made remarks on her "cuteness factors", in contrast to Kagami and Miyuki.
Nice Girl: The official guide lists "Good Person" as her highest stat.
- One strip also shows that her idea of an April Fool's joke is lying about lying.
Sibling Yin-Yang: To Kagami.
Sleepyhead: Classic example of the hardworking subtype.
Tareme Eyes: Also to differentiate her from Kagami... also makes her incredibly cute.

Miyuki Takara

Voiced by: Erina Nakayama (JP [Drama CD/NDS game]), Aya Endo (JP [Anime/PS2 game]) and Karen Strassman (EN)

The "smart girl" of the main quartet and embodiment of many stereotypical Meganekko traits, including a very polite manner of speech (even amongst her friends).

The Ace: At least from Konata and Hiyori's point of view, as they regard all of Miyuki's faults as "Moe points".
Beware the Nice Ones: Occasionally; one Volume 4 strip has Konata telling her that she and the other girls won't blindly follow orders. When she replies with a smile that she'll entertain other opinions, even Kuroi-sensei freaks out, implying she's willing to pretend to hear them out so long as ultimately she calls the shots. She's that assertive... she's just too polite to be blunt about it.
Blind Without'Em: Without her glasses, Miyuki has a 20/200 vision.
Charm Point: Her glasses, which Konata says give her major moe points.
Class Representative: Kept doing this, even if, personality-wise, she subverts the type.
Disappeared Dad

Fan Nicknames: "Miwiki", "Miyukipedia"
Gag Boobs: Lampshaded as Konata and Minami thought Miyuki, though unable to swim, can at least float because of her breasts.
- She even gets a cow joke from Konata at one point and wins a race solely by being able to break the ribbon earlier.
Hot Teacher: As of manga volume 8, she's doing work as a home-tutor.
Huge Schoolgirl: She isn't really very tall (see group shot above) -- she's only slightly taller than the Hiiragis and is slightly shorter than Patty. She just spends a lot of time with the diminutive Konata.
- Yui assumes Miyuki to be unusually tall because her family's genetic shortness gave her a rather skewed perception of what average height is.
Meganekko
Moe: Invoked in-universe by Konata on account of her talents, adorable flaws, and her shapely figure, to the point of even deifying her.

Konata: "She's a walking shrine of Moe!"

Ms Exposition: The go-to character for any and all explanations, leading to her fan nickname.

Out of Focus: Towards the latter half of the anime. Lampshaded by the mangaka in the Omake—which is sort of unfortunate as Yoshimizu apparently has a Meganekko fetish.
- Aya Endo also didn't perform at the concert, though she sent a video message during the show.
Parody Sue: Mercilessly lampshaded by Konata as "The Perfect Superwoman" and "The personification of Moe itself."

Surprisingly Good English: The fact that she can hold whole conversations with Patty in English. Justified as she said she did take English conversation classes.
Strong Family Resemblance: What she didn't inherit from her mother, luckily, is the latter's childish ditziness. However, Miyuki also said she was forced to be more competent or else the family won't be able to function.
Why Did It Have To Be Dentists?
Younger Than They Look: Sometimes she is mistaken to be an office lady.
- Lately this has became her Berserk Button; her maturity compared to Yukari sometimes make her appear older than her mother.

Supporting Characters (Teens)

Yutaka Kobayakawa

Voiced by: Ai Shimizu (JP [Drama CD/NDS game]), Shizuka Hasegawa (JP [Anime/PS2 game]) and Hynden Walch (EN)

Yui's younger sister who lives with Konata since she got into Konata's high school. Generally speaking, a frail but cheerful fauxli. Her friendship with Minami often falls into Romantic Two-Girl Friendship territory.

Berserk Button: Her failure to grow.
Broken Bird: Averted. In Volume 4 Chapter 118, it was revealed that Yui's sisterly love helped her avert problems in social interactions resulting from the years she spent as an Ill Girl.
Captain Ersatz: Of Chiyo Mihama of Azumanga Daioh. This was lampshaded when she introduced herself in front of the class (pictured above), and further lampshaded when she found she unwittingly shouted out to Chiyo, because "[Konata]'s geekiness is rubbing off on me!"
Cheerful Child: Overaged, but her extreme case of Older Than She Looks still allows her to have the look of a child.
Cutesy Dwarf: In-universe assumption of some of her classmates towards her, which is not particularly surprising in light of her associated tropes. She isn't really comfortable about this.
The Ditz: Of a much lesser magnitude compared to Tsukasa though.
Dojikko: Konata observed she has that same "cute shortcoming" as Miyuki.
Don't You Dare Pity Me!: She, surprisingly, has moments of this, especially a Volume 7 strip where, hearing that Minami has been helping her to the latter's detriment in PE, she harshly asked Minami to not help in a long-distance running match.
Girlish Pigtails: For actually being innocent.
I Just Want to Be Normal: She has streaks of this, which acts as a Deconstruction of some of her tropes—her growth deficiencies and poor health, considered as her major Charm Points, clearly brought her social issues and she clearly likes neither. Also see Don't You Dare Pity Me!.
Ill Girl: Somehow less traditional since she never had any dangerous disease, but her weak constitution makes her succumb to common aliments very easily.
The Ingenue: She's too innocent for the Izumis to discuss porn in front of her. Figures.

Yutaka: "Oh Tamura-saaaaaan! What does 'yaoi' mean?"

Kawaisa: At least in the eyes of Konata and Hiyori.
Younger Sibling Fetishization: At least Konata thinks she is.
Moe: Invoked in-universe by Konata on account of her cute flimsy legs, plus many moe points listed here, including Ill Girl, Kawaisa and The Ingenue.
Nice Girl
Not Growing Up Sucks: Even at tenth grade she found that it sucks being too short to find a boyfriend. Missing many of her classmates' social activities doesn't help, either.
Older Than They Look: For a fifteen-year-old, she's even way shorter than Konata at 138 cm (4'6").

Minami Iwasaki

Voiced by: Miyu Matsuki (JP [Drama CD/NDS game]), Minori Chihara (JP [Anime/PS2 game]) and Michelle Ruff (EN)

Entering the story by returning Yutaka's handkerchief in the beginning of what can be seen as a Romantic Two-Girl Friendship, Minami is a quiet, expressionless girl often misunderstood by others to be creepy. Good at most subjects, and is childhood friends with neighbour Miyuki since both of them love reading.

A-Cup Angst: She is completely flat-chested—at least Konata and Yutaka have very small ones. Her angsting over this is close to Once an Episode frequency.
Badass Bookworm: Has the tendency in unanimated manga, coupled with her Chronic Hero Syndrome.
Bifauxnen: Played up by Hiyori in Episode 24.
Chronic Hero Syndrome: She appears to always be ready to help people.
Hidden Eyes: Happens often when she gets into an embarrasing situation.
Huge Schoolgirl: At 163 cm, she's not that tall. The assumption, however, frequently stems from her association with the extremely diminutive Yutaka.
Inner Monologue: As she's not that much of a talker, she has a lot of this.

Rei Ayanami Expy: A parody.
Tsurime Eyes
When She Smiles: Volume 5 has a single panel of her giggling at Yutaka falling down. It's absolutely adorable.
- There's also the panel of her cuddling with her dog. It's just as adorable.
X Meets Y: Sakaki meets Nagato.

Hiyori Tamura

Voiced by: Ryoko Shintani (JP [Extra Drama CD/NDS game]), Kaori Shimizu (JP [Anime/PS2 game]) and Philece Sampler (EN)

Yutaka and Minami's classmate, member of the Animation Research Club, and Doujinshi Yonkoma mangaka with a habit of shipping game characters already, as well as Minami and Yutaka.

Ambiguously Bi: Her frequent fantasies about her friends indicate this or an overactive imagination.
Animals Hate Her: Or at least Minami's dog.
- She has a dog herself, so this is a subversion.
Blue with Shock: Her reaction when Yutaka asks her what yaoi means.
The Chew Toy: Almost as if Yoshimizu is punishing her for her perversions, she is the regular victim of Amusing Injuries, Freudian Slips, accidents and other misfortunes.
Forehead of Doom
Freudian Slip: At one point she mistook dodgeball positions as Seme and Uke.
- Language note: Attacker at dodgeball is still Seme; it was Uke that she made the slip—the correct term is mamori.
  - Expertly handled in the dub.

Hiyori: "And you're okay with her trying to nail you? Yeah I bet you ar--"

Imagine Spot: Often falls into this when she fantasizes Minami and Yutaka as Schoolgirl Lesbians.
- Strips in Volume 4/5 show her making different Yaoi/Yuri fantasies about Setsubun, not to mention another about Konata kissing Miyuki, after the former said that tooth decay can be transmitted by kissing.
- Another notable one is when Izumi begs Yutaka not to reveal her geek identity. Hiyori proceeds to imagine how a less-than-honorable guy would stereotypically react in Yutaka's place. Izumi notices Hiyori's reaction.
Joshikousei: Her Image Song revolves around this.
Meganekko
Phrase Catcher: "She's Strong..." Said by Minami and Yutaka on many occasions.
Playing Against Type: Kaori Shimizu is better known for serious, mature and efficient women, like Signum.
Scary Shiny Glasses: Goes that at a plot-bunny-dissecting mode.
Sequential Artist
Shipper on Deck: She frequently sees Minami and Yutaka as more than just an Odd Friendship.
- In the manga she implied that she befriended them simply to find chances at shipping them. Also, it is also implied that if they knew the way she shipped them, they would be angry.
Yaoi and Yuri Fangirl
Yuri Goggles: Probably the most triumphant in-universe satirical take on same-gender shippers.

Patricia "Patty" Martin

Voiced by: Satsuki Yukino (JP [Drama CD/NDS game]), Nozomi Sasaki (JP [Anime/PS2 game]) and Patricia Ja Lee (EN)

American Otaku in Yutaka's class, and the most genki of otakus of this series.

Affectionate Parody: Of American otaku.
Anime Accent Absence: Completely absent in the anime, only absent in hobby-related things in the manga. The dub version has a slight twang compared to her Japanese schoolmates.
Animeland: her entire idea of Japan.
Ascended Extra: Patty is an Omake-only character in the early manga, only to be ascended to the main chapters later.
The Danza: Her dub VA is named Patricia.
Fan Nickname: "Queen of the Weaboos" -- makes sense...
Foreign Exchange Student: She's an American exchange student and otaku who came to Japan to learn Japanese culture. Unfortunately most of what she know is based on manga and anime, which doesn't always match the reality.
Foreign Fanservice: She's an American, and has the second largest breast size of the entire cast.
Genki Girl
Huge Schoolgirl: She's around average height for an American schoolgirl, but she's living in Japan where people are naturally shorter, and many of her friends are small even by Japanese standards.
Learnt Japanese From Watching Anime
Name's the Same: Try another blond-haired, blue-eyed American "Patricia".
- Additionally, it seems that she goes on to become a seriously high end biochemist, at least until she is caught by a virus.
- And add that third one to the list. Actually, due to the High School setting of both franchises, one's could have a Wild Mass Guess that the Lucky Star Patricia got inspired (minus the Occidental Otaku bit) by that Patricia.
Occidental Otaku: Her knowledge in Japanese culture seemed to be limited to anime.
Phenotype Stereotype
Proud to Be a Geek: Who else would openly say she wants to have a Meido—not a housekeeper—in front of Kagami, of all people?
Retcon: In the manga, she made a few appearance in the omakes and was already know by everybody in the cast. Come Vol.7, she is introduced at the main storyline as a new face among the cast.
This Loser Is You
Yaoi Fangirl: She said she is one, but we have yet to see more evidence of that.

Misao Kusakabe

Voiced by: Mikako Takahashi (JP [Extra Drama CD/NDS game), Kaoru Mizuhara (JP [Anime/PS2 game]) and Lara Jill Miller (EN)

Kagami and Ayano's classmate for five consecutive years, Misao is the latter's childhood friend and, as defined by the former, an unorganized "lazy ass". A recurring theme in post-anime strips is her rivalry with Konata—for Kagami, even Misao considered Kagami as being cold-hearted. Later, she got into the same program of the same college as Konata.

Adaptation Dye Job: Her hair went from black to brown.

Dumb Is Good: Quite evident when we compare her and Kagami's gaming style.
Fan Nickname: "Fang-tan", a nickname shared with Tsuruya.
Those Two Guys: with Ayano
Tomboy and Girly Girl: Arguably the tomboy to Ayano's girly girl.
Tomboyish Sidetails: Arguably.
Verbal Tic: "-datte va"

Ayano Minegishi

Voiced by: Yuko Goto (JP [Extra Drama CD/NDS game]), Mai Aizawa (JP [Anime/PS2 game]) and Peggy O'Neal (EN)

Misao's "caretaker" (in Kagami's words) for years to the level that when Kagami was fed up with Misao or vice versa, Ayano is their go-between. She is the only teen in the series with a boyfriend.

Berserk Button: Misao experienced this hidden side of Ayano when she spilled coffee on her stuffed raccoon in the manga, though we never got to see the full extent of Ayano's anger...
Beware the Nice Ones: She had one of the scariest Blue With Anger in this series after Misao dream-talked about... something sexy between Ayano and Misao's brother.
The Caretaker
Demoted to Extra: She's one of the girls without lines in the OVA. However she was the announcer in Kagami's dream and did a bit of Voice Grunting during the volleyball game.
Feminine Women Can Cook: Although, her family runs a cooking school, so there may be non-gender-role justification.
Forehead of Doom
Informed Attribute: The fact that she has a boyfriend.
The Nondescript: In the anime, she barely does anything interesting.
Satellite Character: So unimportant she has a boyfriend.
Shrinking Violet: Volume 8 mentioned that she was like that when she was younger.
Those Two Guys: with Misao
Tomboy and Girly Girl: The girly girl to Misao's tomboy.
Yamato Nadeshiko: Passive, likes taking care of others, and a good cook. To complete the image, sort of, she has a boyfriend. However, she is no pushover.
Zettai Ryouiki

Kō Yasaka

Voiced by: Rika Morinaga (JP [[[PlayStation 2]] game])

First appearing in Volume 4, Kō is the president of the Animation Research Club and Hiyori's "boss" on the club's periodicals. She's the only 11th grader in the series. Does not appear in the anime, but she did appear in the Net Idol Meister video game.

Challenge Gamer: One of the running joke about her is her trying to beat Konata on arcade fighting games.
Gamer Chick:Her otaku tendencies are mainly in gaming and less on manga—that doesn't mean she does not care about manga anyway.
Tsurime Eyes
Unknown Rival: To Konata, on arcade fighting games.

Yamato Nagamori

However, she runs into Hiyori on one of her shopping trips to Comiket, who discovers her secret. She is good at home economics, but is bad at art. She likes "cute" things and likes sweets, as well as coffee and milk.

Doting Parent: Someone's got to give the guy credit for being an attentive and loving father who raised a happy and emotionally well-adjusted daughter to adulthood... eccentricities notwithstanding.
Fan Nickname: "Awesome-kun", for having what is considered to be the epitome of an Otaku's dream life (well, leaving aside his dead wife,) as well as having a daughter who appreciates and emulates his hobbies.
Lolicon: He buys H-games for his underage daughter and takes shots of nubile girls at other schools' sports festivals. Needless to say, even his daughter was fed up and frequently fears for his arrest.
- In later volumes this aspect of his was subdued. One Volume 7 strip has Yutaka catching him looking between the legs of figurines—which horrified the innocent girl to no end.
  - This ends up being a running gag in the manga.

Meito "Anime Tenchou" Anisawa

An anime-only character, he is the manager of the Animate store Konata frequents. He is actually the mascot for the Animate chain as Captain Animate, created by Shimamoto Kazuhiko in the late 90'; but the one who made him known in Japan was none than Hideaki Anno who directed a short Original Video Animation for the character, a Radio Show was also made. Anisawa was made to help boost the sales and pick interest of the general public into buying anime merchandise, not just for Animate stores.

Art Shift: He and his store's staff are all drawn in a distinct Shounen art style with a different color palette from the rest of the characters.
Asskicking Pose: Episode 12, when he lectured a salesman about the value of leftover merchandise.
Berserk Button: Never insult anime merchandise featuring side characters or he will punch you in the face.
Cameo: Anisawa actually predates Lucky Star; he was Animate's mascot for some time before.
