Neptune/Purple Heart

CPU of Planeptune.

• Big Eater
• Bound and Gagged: How we first see her after a brief attempt at resistance to CFW Magic in the second game and Rebirth 2.
• Cry Cute: Happens to her frequently in the manga.
• Genki Girl: In her normal form
• Girly Run
• Heroes Prefer Swords: Uses Katanas, Broadswords, and Laser Blades. Ultimately many will see that Katanas Are Just Better; turns come up sooner, gun attacks become stronger, and Purple Heart only uses katanas regardless of what she had equipped as Neptune.
• Heroic Safe Mode: Neptune suffers from this after her attempt to get the other goddesses to help her fight Arfoire.
• The Heroine
• Hollywood Pudgy: Is referred to as being pudgy a few times throughout the game, mostly right along side her eating habits.
• In the Name of the Moon: One of Neptune's battle quotes involves this.
• Jack of All Stats: As Neptune
• Konami Code: Can occasionally be heard reciting part of this while using her first Limit Break, only to stop and decide that she has no use for codes anyway.
• Lady of War: Her Purple Heart personality.
• Laser-Guided Amnesia: After she falls from Celestia.
• Les Yay: Many scenes of the game have this between her and the other girls. Some of the bonus art included in the game has this between Neptune and Purple Heart.
• Moe: Called such by IF in one of the cutscenes.
• Mundane Utility: Transforms into Purple Heart just so she can ride a roller coaster. Nepgear and Uni lampshade it.
• My Sister Is Off-Limits: Says as much in one of her character info page quotes.

• No Sense of Personal Space: Apparently, Neptune doesn't mind hugging someone from the back.
  • They were trying to capture Black Heart but got Noire.
• Paper Fan of Doom: Her DLC weapon is this.
• Ship Tease: Many of the official art has her doing this with Noire.
• Slap-On-The-Wrist Nuke: The CPU Neptune attack has her transform into a spaceship, fly out into space, and then has the scene zoom out to show the entire landmass you're currently on before firing off a Wave Motion Gun, destroying the entire thing. However there's a disclaimer down on the bottom of the screen:

• Split Personality: Neptune is a Genki Girl, while her alter ego Purple Heart seems to be more of a Lady of War.
  • Though we find out even some of non HDD Neptune has seeped into Purple Heart by Megadimension Neptunia VII.
• Sword and Gun: Neptune seems to keep a sword and a gun on her, but we never see where she gets the gun.
  • Excised in the Rebirth games where she uses a sword exclusively.
• Totally Radical: She tends to use some 80's/90's slang such as "bad dude", her death cry of "I'm... outies...", and even "totally rad" at one point. She also has a tinge of Valley Girl in her voice. Keep in mind that she is supposed to represent Sega, who were all about being Totally Radical in the 90's.
• What Happened to the Mouse?: Not her but her "CPU Neptune" skill from the first game.
• Wooden Katanas Are Even Better: Subverted gameplay wise, it's actually her very first weapon and she has much better ones that aren't wooden. However, Neptune has an odd attachment to them and considers them awesome in universe.

Vert/Green Heart

Voiced by: Rina Sato (Japanese), Tara Platt (English)

CPU of Leanbox in the first two games and remakes, as an avatar of the Xbox 360, represents the original Xbox in Victory/Rebirth 3.

• Actor Allusion: Japan-only. Shares the same weapon as Mikoto.
• Badass
  • Determinator: Takes a lot of punishment before she finally is killed in the Conquest Ending of mk2/Rebirth2.
  • Lady of War: As Green Heart, somewhat downplayed version in non HDD form.
  • Pop Cultured Badass: Of all the goddesses, she's the one most in tune with memes, messageboards, and nerd culture.
• Blade on a Stick
  • This Is a Drill Green Heart's spears transform into these.
• Berserk Button: She mentions one on her character info page.

"I don't know who it was, but whoever invented the fatigue system must be just a world class terrorist.

• Cosplay Otaku Girl: Forces Nepgear to wear her costumes in her ending.
• Cross Player: In the game "Four Goddesses Online", she is stated to play a male character.
• Detached Sleeves: Both of her forms wear outfits that have this.
• Gamer Chick
• Girls Love: She's not the type to go looking for it, but she is definitely flattered to be on the receiving end of it.
• Hair of Gold
• The Hedonist: Green Heart is not just a gamer girl but also a hedonist. Most of her blog talks about her recent parties and the banquets she had.
• Meaningful Name: "Vert" means "green" in French, and she's wearing green, which also represents the Xbox 360 and later Xbox One.
• Mercy Kill: During the Conquest Ending route of mk2/Rebirth2, she requests Nepgear to finish her off with the cursed sword since she has no hope of surviving after the beating Linda gives to her.
• Onee-Sama: Nepgear points out that she is the one most like a big sister among the goddesses, and that it's rather ironic considering she actually has no real sisters. Vert explains that it's merely because she had to to keep the other three of them in line.
• Phenotype Stereotype: Blonde, Blue Eye, Busty American.
• Talking to Herself: Gets a chance to meet her Ultradimension counterpart in the anime and third game. Also occurs when Rom's VA takes over her voice acting and her and Rom are in the same scene.
• Tall Blonde And Bishoujo
• The Other Darrin: Vert was temporarily replaced by Rom's English VA for a few games, due to Tara Platt not being available.
• The Nicknamer: She doesn't create them herself, but she picks up upon nicknames Compa assigns characters, and enjoys using them as a means to be less formal.
• Underboobs: She plays this trope straight. Neptune even refers to her as such.
• Yaoi Fangirl: When she isn't playing an MMORPG, Vert would probably make any guy who think she is an easy lay will be in for a VERY rude shock (namely when she wants you to bring friends).

• Catch Phrase: Usually a variation of "Only does everything". A reference to how the Play Station 3 was advertised.
• Cosplay Otaku Girl: In one cutscene, Noire is implied to be one.
• Detached Sleeves: Both of her forms wear outfits that have this.
• Expy: Somehow, Noire really resembles Azusa from K-On!.
• Glass Cannon: As Black Heart with the default Processor setup.
• Heroes Prefer Swords
• Lightning Bruiser: As Noire.
• Meaningful Name: "Noire" means "black" in French.
• My Sister Is Off-Limits: Like Neptune, she says as much in her character info page.

Blanc/White Heart

CPU of Lowee.

• A-Cup Angst: Berserk Button is someone pointing out her flat chest.
• Badass Bookworm

• Detached Sleeves: Both of her forms wear outfits that have this.
• Drop the Hammer: Blanc's main weapon is a hammer.
  • An Axe to Grind: The hammer turns into an axe when she becomes White Heart.
• Expy: Blanc is pretty much a white Vita. Which is now extremely hilarious now that the Play Station Vita is coming out.
• Fan Girl: Surprisingly, towards Falcom. She even asks for her autograph.
• Go Out with a Smile: During the Conquest Ending of mk2/Rebirth 2. After getting run through with the demon sword, she smiles and comments on how it hurts less than she expected, before breathing her last.
• Hair-Trigger Temper: Don't her calm exterior fool you, she gets angry quite easily.
• Kuudere
• Lady Swearsalot: At first, she looks calm and collected... But it won't be even ten minutes into the game that you will find out that she doesn't shy away from spewing swearwords like an angry high school student... especially when angry!

Nepgear/Purple Sister

• Affectionate Nickname; Referred to as "Ge-Ge" by most of the other characters
• Apologises a Lot: To the point it can grate on her allies nerves at times.
• Badass: To the point she can be even more than one than her sister. Played tragically in the Conquest ending.
  • Badass Arm-Fold: This is how Keiji Inafune appears to Nepgear.
  • Badass Bookworm
• Bare Your Midriff: Her Lilac mkII Processor does this.
• Beehive Barrier: Her Panzer Blade attack causes her enemies to generate one for every swing, just so she can shatter them all in the process of beating them to death.
• Big Word Shout: During her Slash Wave attack. "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
• Bishie Sparkle: Gets these a few times, notably when Uni asks to join the party.
• Butt Monkey: To the point in the third game it's a PLOT POINT. Required as part of getting the Good/True ending.
• Catch Phrase: Her oddly-constructed "What the goodness?!"
• Clueless Chick Magnet: Pretty much every other girl on the team aside from Neptune express or generally indicate interest in her, either to be their little sister or romantically. She usually doesn't even notice, or assumes they're joking.
• Combination Attack: The only one who is a required party member for a majority of the combination attacks, the total number (including the DLC power up) being at 10.
• Duel Boss: With a few characters.
• Hair Decorations
• Evil Feels Good: A borderline example, when she runs Linda through with the Demon Sword.

Nepgear: "I should have done this a long time ago."

• Expy: Of Neptune, initially.
• Gadgeteer Genius: By the third game on, this is one of her defining traits.
• Glowing Eyes of Doom: When you summon Keiji Inafune, his eyes glow before Nepgear delivers the final blow.
• Heroes Prefer Swords: Especially if you summon Keiji Inafune.
• Humongous Mecha: Muses about turning the Planeptune Tower into one in her debut game.
  • And gets her own that looks like her as a summonable ally called Nepgeardam in MDN VII, much to her stunned shock/amazement.
• Intimate Healing: IF decides to go this route to snap her out of it and get her to go HDD. Compa voices disappointment that she wasn't the one who got to get "Lovey-Dovey" with Nepgear.
• Leeroy Jenkins: Tries to take on a dragon at the behest of "Chika" and almost gets owned by it before being rescued by Cave.
• Lightning Bruiser: Both she and Nisa think she's a Jack of All Stats when she's really this. If you play her right, she's a good tank, dishes out damage harder than the rest, is a required character to all of the Combination Attacks and yet the Irony? She's a Game Breaker if you place her as a support role because she's the only one who can get rid of the Damage Cap allowing other characters to damage enemies beyond 9999.
• Lonely at the Top: In the Conquest Ending. By the end, she has killed all the other goddesses and united the world under her rule, and those of her friends who are still alive leave her after Arfoire is defeated.

Nepgear: "This is the dark path that I've chosen to walk alone."

• Mix-and-Match Weapon: As Purple Sister, she wields a rifle with a sword attached to it.
• Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: In the Conquest End, she thinks of using the demonic sword to vanquish Arfoire, and ends up becoming the only goddess left in the entire world. Unfortunately the world is then headed towards destruction for if there is no competition, there can be no progress. CFW Arfoire even outright tells that to Nepgear.
• Otaku: Of machines.
• Shout-Out: Most of her skill is based on Temjin's weapons.
• Sibling Yin-Yang: While Purple Heart has a black dominant costume, Purple Sister has a white dominant costume.
• Stripperific: Her powered up costume.
• Took a Level in Badass: Starts off as meek, shy, and timid unlike her older sister. By the end of the game (if you go down the Conquest path in 2), she becomes the next goddess of Planeptune.
• Villain Protagonist: Becomes one in the Conquest End.
• Wave Motion Gun: Her Beam Rifle as Nepgear and the Inafune Beam.
• What the Hell, Hero?: Gets called out by other people on her actions in the Conquest End.
• White-Haired Pretty Girl: If you let her wear the Joshikousei costume.

Uni/Black Sister

Voiced by: Eri Kitamura (Japanese), Sarah Williams (English)

• Bare Your Midriff: In her power up Black Sister version.
• Big Freaking Gun: Her weapon of choice.
  • Small Girl, Big Gun
  • Some of her guns imply that she's actually just making them look larger than they really are.
• Boring but Practical: Charley Horse! does no damage nor does it help guard break, but it will lower even a boss's avoidance so someone else can actually start doing damage.
• Bottomless Magazines: Mostly explained by her weapons being energy based, though some do appear to fire ballistic rounds, though this may still be in effect since she apparently uses her CPU power to replenish the ammo.
• Breast Expansion: Inverted. Turning into Black Sister causes her to flatten, and this actually gets brought up by Nepgear at one point.
  • Turns into a Running Gag in later games, much to her consternation.
• Camera Abuse: One of her skills kicks the camera and shuts it off. It's used to lower the accuracy of enemies.
• Expy: Of Noire
• Generation Xerox: Hers and Nepgear's interactions in the second game are much like how Neptune and Noire's interactions went.
• Gun Nut: Her and K-Sha can be found discussing various gun modifications in Megadimension Neptunia VII, and it's noted she has as much love for guns as Nepgear does for mecha.
• Hair Decorations
• Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy: Some of her attacks involve spraying ammo everywhere, with so-so accuracy at times.
• Irony: Nepgear may be the mecha geek, but it's Uni who winds up befriending mecha based entities like CFW Brave in the second game and later Steamax in VII.
• Love Confession: In her character info quotes, and surprisingly short and simple.

Histoire (Hyperdimension)

• Affectionate Nickname: Histy
• Badass - Is insanely powerful even at low levels when playable.
  • Lady of Black Magic: Her skill set leans heavily in this direction, though she's not lacking in the White Magic department either.
• Big Good
• Great Big Book of Everything: Unfortunately it'll take three days for her to find the information needed in her, so it's better to just go out and figure things out without her.
• Our Fairies Are Different: She's also a book.
• Promoted to Playable: In Rebirth 1/2/3, as her HDN2 incarnation.
• Nice Hat
• Physical God: Can't do anything without the other Goddesses' consent though.
• Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: Possess this trait, as she is, before being an Oracle of Planeptune, the recorder of all history in Gamindustri, thus everything that happens is recorded by her in some fashion. In MDN VII, this becomes a Chekhov's Gun Since it renders her immune to the rewrite of Gamindustri that replaced the CPUs with the Gold Third. She knows this occured and was incorporated into the rewrite, but still remembers everything prior to the rewrite, which provides her the ability to get Neptune into the Basilicom on her own authority since no one else remembers her.

Mina Nishizawa

Voiced by: Sayaka Nakaya (Japanese)

• Badass
  • Badass Adorable: Tends to be sweet and adorable. She's also a very skilled mage and competent fighter in her own right.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Rom and Ram are CPU Candidates, but if she gets mad at them, they are terrified. Rarely happens, unless they are being very rude or unruly though.
• Comically Missing the Point: After Ram and Rom are saved from Trick, pretty much the only thing she takes away from the situation is that licking someone can be a sign of affection. Nepgear honestly hopes that she was joking.

• Nice Hat
• Promoted to Playable: Unlockable in Rebirth 2. Does not appear in Rebirth 3 in the story, but is unlockable via DLC.

Chika Hakozaki

Voiced by: Yuka Komatsu (Japanese), Michelle Ann Dunphy (English)

• Badass: She's basically a Vert clone skillset wise, with the stats to match.
• Drama Queen: Boy, does she go off for the stupidest reasons. However, during the Conquest Ending, she has a genuine reason to cry and scream.
• Hair Decorations
• Homoerotic Subtext: Seems to be waaaaaaaaaay obsessive with Vert.
  • Were it not for her occasional denials this wouldn't even be able to be considered subtext. They share a bed, Vert knows her well enough that she can tell perfectly when she is or isn't pretending to be sick, and apparently Chika is usually more willing to play around during Vert's massages. Chika can also be seen grabbing Vert's chest while looking extremely happy doing so in the True Ending.
• Incest Subtext: Claims Vert and her are like sisters. See above to understand why this is in question.
• Promoted to Playable: In Rebirth 2 as a secret character. Unlockable in Rebirth 3 as a DLC character.
• Wingding Eyes: Gets hearts in her eyes whenever Vert is involved.

Kei Jinguji

• Badass Bureaucrat: Prefers the business world to fighting, but is quite capable of holding her own in a fight.
• Berserk Button: Breaking promises.
• Bifauxnen; You could be easily fooled into thinking Kei's a boy.
• But Now I Must Go: Decides to leave to Go on to other ventures after the second game.
• Promoted to Playable: In Rebirth 2 as a secret character, and in 3 as DLC.
• The Spock:

Kei: I'd rather not waste our precious time discussing the mythical creations known as emotions. Mina: That's not a good answer. If you want her to open up to you, you need to open up to her. Kei: Adult conversations consist entirely of valid logic and efficient syntax.

Magiquone the Hard / CFW Arfoire {Hyper Dimension}

Voiced by: Chiaki Takahashi (Japanese) Laura Post (English)

• Blade on a Stick
• Invincible Villain: Pretty much what can sum her up.
• Digital Piracy Is Evil: The personification of this.
• Dub Name Change: Magiquone in Japan, which is their equivalent of the R4.
• Eldritch Abomination: In the True Ending she also becomes a Humanoid Abomination.
• Load-Bearing Boss: Due to being one with the Gamindustri Graveyard.
• Omnicidal Maniac
• Playing Against Type: BIG TIME for her seiyuu. Arfoire is devoid of all sympathetic virtues many of her roles, even antagonistic ones, though it's probably intentional.
• Sobriquet: Deity of Sin
• Taking You with Me
• The Bad Guy Wins: Her reaction to being defeated in the Conquest Ending is to state this happens, just on a delay timer.

Magic the Hard / CFW Magic

• Badass
  • Badass In Charge: And it's why she leads ASIC.
  • One Woman Army: Five goddesses (The four Hearts and Purple Sister) versus her. She curb stomps them.
• Came Back Wrong: In the True End, her desire to serve under Arfoire becomes a desire to ensure everything becomes one with her.
• Curb Stomp Battle: Artwork for the sequel shows her facing off against the four Goddesses, alone. The result would seem to be the four of them being captured and bound by Naughty Tentacles.
• The Dragon: She's this to Arfoire in the sequel.
• Evil Counterpart
• Evil Is Sexy: Much like Arfoire, she too has a revealing outfit that goes nicely with her puppy kicking deeds.
• Evil Redhead
• Eyepatch of Power
• Expy: To the first game's version of Arfoire.
• Fan Girl: The personification of this, being one for Arfoire.
• Most Common Superpower: Not a single one of the heroines surpasses the size of her rack. Not even Thunder Tits.
• Psycho Rangers: If Magic's design is anything to go by, the Arfoire Syndicate of International Crime is this to the heroes.

• Anti-Villain: He might support game piracy, but it's for those who otherwise couldn't afford games to have fun with. In fact, of his allies, he's got the most noble intentions of them all.

• Token Good Teammate: Aside from his support of some underhanded means like game piracy, he's otherwise good at heart, and even the piracy support is for a good cause that even Uni agrees isn't entirely wrong.

Linda/Underling

• Avenging the Villain: The final fight against her in the True Ending is because she wants revenge for them killing Magic twice, hoping that maybe she can kill them before Arfoire destroys the world.
• Bare Your Midriff
• Even Evil Has Standards: Linda is disgusted by CFW Trick's behavior towards Rom and Ram.
• Fan Girl: Some of her dialog implies that she's one for Magic.
• Goldfish Poop Gang: So much so that the game eventually stops bothering to make her a boss fight.
• Kick the Son of a Bitch: It's really hard to feel sorry for her when Sadie has her way with Underling in the anime, especially when her faked Heel Face Turn is discovered.
  • In the Conquest Ending her death is the only one both Nepgear and the player can feel good about and was justly earned considering her actions at the time.
• Master of Disguise: Makes a convincing disguise as Chika.
• Moral Event Horizon: She actually gets a chance to cross it in the Conquest Ending. She is beating on a nearly dead Vert with the intent of killing her, and when called on it, states they have no right to complain since they were killing each other anyway, which doesn't wash as it was in pursuit of a very regrettable Save The World plan and required the The CPUs to kill one another to work, whereas Underling just decided to be a cold blooded bastard because she wanted to be.
• Not So Different: During the Conquest End, after she has beaten Vert to an inch of her life, the heroines state that what she has done is unforgivable. Underling's counter-statement is saying she just did what they were trying to do a moment ago, and that they should thank her. What she gets for that? A sword to the stomach, that's what!
• Not What I Signed on For: After Magic tells her that everything will be absorbed into Arfoire and tries to kill her, she realizes that Magic has changed and that things are more extreme than she first thought and bails.

• Dub Name Change: Was Warechu in Japan. Reverted back to Warechu in the English Rebirth games.
• Heel Face Revolving Door: Played For Laughs. Basically depends on whether Compa is in the vicinity or not. If so, he'll do everything from wavering on doing something bad to outright spilling his guts about whatever evil scheme is going on.
• Make My Monster Grow: Temporarily ends up completely massive and completely insane. Happens to him again in Megadimension Neptunia VII
• Only Sane Man: Probably the sanest ASIC member, with Underling and CFW Brave as close seconds.
• Panty Shot: One of his battle quotes is pointing out that from where he's standing he can see everyone's panties.
• Quirky Miniboss Squad
• Ridiculously Cute Critter: He is rather adorable, and his crush on Compa merely adds to it.
• True Companions: Even after Underling's begun to go off the deep end toward the end, and even after ASIC is ended, he tries to be the voice of reason for her and sticks with her even when she just won't listen.
  • In the anime, he's this to Arfoire, who takes on aspects of Underling's interactions in the anime. Althougth their relationship still has them snipe at each other nigh constantly.
• Verbal Tic: It's chu, chump!
• Villainous Crush: Has a crush on Compa after she heals him.
