Naruto Canon Good Guys

Naruto characters within The Promise feature these tropes:

Minato Namikaze

• The Ace: Widely considered the strongest ninja alive. The only few people who can really stand up to him are the other kages and Pain.
• A Father to His Men: He even adopts Kakashi, Rin, and Obito!
• Authority Equals Asskicking: He's the Yondaime Hokage.
• Badass Teacher: To Team Minato.
• Bishonen
• Expy: Of Captain Carrot. At least with strangers.
• Fainting: Faints as soon as Kushina tells him she's pregnant.
• Good Is Not Dumb
  • Good Is Not Nice: Once his Berserk Button is pressed.
• Hot Dad: With quite a few more kids than average, thanks to adopting his entire team, Iruka, Itachi and Sasuke, and actually having a kid of his own.
• Only Sane Man: He certainly seems to embody this trope when surrounded with Obito, Kushina, and Naruto.
• Papa Wolf: Do not give him a reason to think you might have endangered one of his kids. You won't live long enough to regret it.
• Reasonable Authority Figure
• Red Baron: He's still Konoha's Yellow Flash, folks.
• Spam Attack: He uses the Hiraishin more than a hundred times during the fight with Madara, combining it with the Rasengan and even inventing a new variation of the latter on the spot.
• Stepford Smiler: When dealing with people he really doesn't like. His "public smile" has been known to send people into fits of terror because of the sheer uncertainty of what he's thinking. And with someone as dangerous as he is, you don't want to be kept guessing about that. It doesn't help that he's usually broadcasting killing intent at the same time.

Kushina Uzumaki

• Action Mom: She's only got one actual kid (Naruto), but she adopted six others at various points in the prologue as well. And she's the most powerful kunoichi on the entire planet when she actually goes to fight.
• Barrier Maiden: Technically, if something goes wrong with her seal, the Kyuubi would escape and wreak horrible destruction upon the world. But she subverts most of the characterization tropes regarding it.
• Fiery Redhead: Just like in canon.
• The Hyena: In any scene she's in after the prologue, she's likely to be laughing her head off at something or other.
• Mama Bear: Don't touch her kids. Not that most people really could.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Or her husband.
• Mighty Glacier: She's nowhere near as fast as her husband, but if she catches you...
• Person of Mass Destruction: She's the Kyuubi jinchuuriki. If something ever sets her off as badly as the canon battle with Pain, she's going straight to eight tails and not looking back.
• The Prankster: She has managed to prank every clan compound in the entire village. Twice.
• Red Baron: The Bloody Habanero.
• Supreme Chef: Taken Up to Eleven--she manages to earn the undying loyalty of a clan of fox youkai by feeding them inarizushi and atsuage, and later pulls off much the same thing with dog youkai.
• Team Mom: Even before adopting Team Minato.

Obito Uchiha

• Badass Teacher: To his genin team as well as anyone he's ever been a mentor to.
• Big Brother Mentor: To Itachi and Sasuke, and to Iruka before them.
• Black Sheep: Of the Uchiha clan.
• Defector From Decadence: As he puts it, he didn't really like most of his clan's policies and behaviors. The feeling was mutual.
• Evil Eye: The Sharingan.
• Happily Married: To Rin.
• Improbable Age: He's declared the head of the Uchiha clan (or what remains of it) post-Massacre, at age fourteen. He even points out how utterly ridiculous this is.
• Mega Manning: He's the new Copycat.
• Playing with Fire
• The Prankster: He helped Kushina with most of her pranks on the Uchihas.
• Red Baron: The Copy-Cat Ninja, Sharingan Obito, or Konoha's Burning Assassin. The first two are a result of him activating and mastering his Sharingan within six months, and he actually kept this development a secret from his clan; Fugaku found out about this development through an enemy's captured bingo book and never forgave Obito for keeping it a secret. The last one is a mystery.
• Spared by the Adaptation: The mission to Kusa was fortunately derailed by Nariko's interference.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Living to adulthood can do that for a kid.
• Summon Magic: He has a summoning contract for hawks.
• Trickster Mentor: It should probably be mentioned that he likes introducing his students to Maito Gai.
  • Training from Hell: Has been on both the giving and receiving end of this trope. His genin team never did quite recover...nor did Iruka. Most of this is because he likes to inflict Maito Gai on people.

Kakashi Hatake

• Badass Teacher: To Team Seven.
• Bunny Ears Lawyer: Perpetually late, reads dirty novels all day, acts like the laziest person on the planet short of a Nara, and seems to have a different girlfriend every week. And yet, he can still kick your ass.
• The Comically Serious: Sometimes. Usually when Obito's around, actually.
• Mr. Fanservice: He even has the fanclub to prove it.
• Happily Adopted: By Minato and Kushina after the almost-disastrous mission to Kusa.
• Lightning Bruiser: It comes with being on Team Minato.
• Lovable Sex Maniac: He still reads Icha-Icha!
• Obfuscating Stupidity: How the hell he keeps pulling this off on people who should by all rights know better, no one knows.
• Red Baron: Konoha's White Wolf.
• Shock and Awe: His affinity.
• Took a Level in Badass: He ended up concentrating on improving his speed, strength, and skill with his father's tanto during the interim years he spent in ANBU. He's therefore stronger, faster, and has more endurance than his canon counterpart.
• Urban Legend Love Life: Thanks to a rumor started by Obito.
• Vitriolic Best Buds: With Obito, sometimes.
• White-Haired Pretty Boy: Played up and for laughs--Obito started distributing photos of an unmasked Kakashi whenever he needed to blackmail him.

Rin

• Badass Teacher: For Sakura, until Tsunade steps in to take over.
• Facial Markings
• Fragile Speedster: As the team medic-nin, she's generally expected to get the hell away from the fighting long enough to help the injured. She tends not to have many mass-destruction techniques as a result.
• Girl with Psycho Weapon: She works in the hospital. This tends to mean that she has easy access to syringes.
• Happily Married: To Obito.
• The Heart
• Hospital Hottie
• The Medic
  • Combat Medic: She fights like a cross between Shizune and Kabuto.
  • Deadly Doctor: Rin can kill you with her normally life-saving surgical techniques.
• Only One Name: Since she never got a family name in canon.
• Only Sane Man: For her team.
• Pregnant Badass: Not that she knows about it until the Chuunin Exam arc.
• Stuffed Into the Fridge: Defied. Kabuto is given a beatdown for the attempt.
• Took a Level in Badass: Remember the little girl who got kidnapped during that one mission to Kusa? She got better. It's amazing what living to adulthood can do for a character.

Iruka Umino

• Almighty Janitor: Even more so than in canon; though he managed to overpower Itachi once (when the kid was about eight or nine, admittedly) and has better scores than nearly all of the special jounin in the series, he's still too nice to be a jounin. And he actually likes teaching.
• Badass Teacher: For anyone going through the Academy.
• Badass Bookworm
• Big Brother Mentor: To Itachi, Sasuke, and Naruto to varying degrees. Naruto says he's his favorite older brother, though.
• Happily Adopted: By Kushina.
• Let's Get Dangerous: While it's mentioned that he managed to beat Itachi during his Chuunin Exams, it doesn't really sink in how much more dangerous he's gotten until he starts wrecking Oto forces.
• Make Me Wanna Shout: Turns out he can actually use sonic attacks. Which completely Worfs every Oto-nin sent toward the Academy.
• Making a Splash: His affinity.
  • Elemental Baggage: He managed a Nidaime Hokage-style workaround.
• Nice Guy
• Summon Magic: Dolphins. Extremely useful in a coastal climate. Which Konoha is not.
• Super Senses: His hearing, which is mentioned as early as his genin days.
• Stern Teacher: For the Konoha Twelve.
• Took a Level in Badass: Sort of a side effect of associating with Obito since before making genin. When Iruka was later practicing for the Chuunin Exams and Takomi needed to find a sensei for him, Obito volunteered to help him, which Iruka's sensei accepted. He just didn't mention that Maito Gai was going to be his assistant.

Itachi Uchiha

• Adorkable: While on a date with Ayame.
• Big Brother Mentor: To Sasuke, mostly. Naruto sort of got adopted in.
• Child Soldier: He was older than Kakashi when he started, at least.
• Evil Eye: But he doesn't have the Mangekyou in this fic.
• The Gift: He's still a prodigy at killing people, no matter how much he'd rather not be. It eventually led him to decide that if he was going to be good at it, he might as well be the best. Thus, we have a jounin Itachi.
• Harmful to Minors: Between him and Sasuke, Itachi's the only one who was old enough to remember the Uchiha Massacre. He still gets occasional flashbacks.
• Martial Pacifist: He really, honestly, does not want to fight. But he's a jounin and sometimes that's just what he has to do.
• Master of Illusion: Not to a kitsune's level, but he's one of the best in the shinobi world.
• Minored in Asskicking: Itachi doesn't like to fight much, preferring to stay in Konoha and teach philosophy to Academy students if given a choice, but he can and will outfight anyone dumb enough to get in his way.
• Playing with Fire
• The Quiet One
• Tall, Dark and Handsome: He has his own fanclub, just like damn near everyone else in the family.
• Warrior Poet

Naruto Uzumaki

• Adorkable
• Big Eater: It's genetic, given his mother's tendencies.
• Bishonen: Well, he takes after his mom.
• Blue Eyes
• Book Dumb: Oh, there's no doubt that he's a very talented kid, but he would much rather skip class than do any work and managed to pass his courses in the Academy through the practical tests.
• The Chosen One
• Ditzy Genius: He can be pretty slow about some things, such as interpersonal interactions, but he's not a bad kid and is an excellent strategist if called upon.
• Hair of Gold
• Highly-Visible Ninja: Except for the bell test, when he knew he was going to be up against Kakashi of all people, Naruto likes wearing orange all the time.
• The Hyena: Like his mother, he's often found laughing hysterically at one thing or another.
• Idiot Hero: Less so than in canon, but he still has that odd tendency to rush into things without thinking.
• Keet: He is unbelievably hyperactive.
• The Messiah
• The Prankster
• Trademark Favorite Food: Ramen, which is, oddly enough, a quirk shared with half of his family and probably almost as many people outside of it.
• Warrior Prince: He's the Hokage's kid. It was gonna happen eventually.

Sasuke Uchiha

• Bishonen
• Black Eyes
• Celibate Hero: If the fangirls didn't put him off the idea, Orochimaru did.
• Mr. Fanservice: Given the fangirls...
• Evil Eye: His Sharingan, which is thankfully less actually "evil" than in canon...
• Freudian Trio: With Naruto and Sakura. Sasuke's the Superego.
• The Lancer
• Mega Manning: Once he activates his Sharingan.
• Playing with Fire: He never learns the Chidori here--instead, he picks up Obito's not-Rasengan variant.
• Red Oni, Blue Oni: Blue to Naruto's Red.
• Sibling Yin-Yang: He has this with Naruto--out of the Namikaze-Uzumaki adopted brood, they're the closest in age and are practically twins sometimes.
• Shiny Midnight Black: His hair.
• Team Dad: When Kakashi's being irresponsible.

Sakura Haruno

• A-Cup Angst
• Break the Haughty: Pretty much immediately after being assigned to Team Seven.
• The Chick
• Combat Medic: Not long after Kakashi realizes that her chakra control is nigh-perfect, he introduces her to Rin as a new apprentice. Thus, she gets started on her medic training much earlier than in canon--even before the Chuunin Exams.
• Forehead of Doom
• Green Eyes
• Rose-Haired Girl
• Smitten Teenage Girl: For Sasuke, of course.
• Teen Genius: In her own studious sort of way.
• Took a Level in Badass: Thank you, Rin.

Hanare

• Ascended Extra: Originally a filler character from the Konoha History arc in Naruto Shippuden.
• Brown Eyes
• High Heel Face Turn: She defects from Joumae to Konoha once Obito and Nariko convince her to stick around with Kakashi. It took a bit more than that, but having a positive influence in her life certainly helped.
• Love At First Sight: Toward Kakashi.
• Memory Gambit: Her signature ability. It's not known whether it actually erases her memories or if it just suppresses them so even a mind-reader like Inoichi can't detect anything.
• Rogue Agent: From Joumae, rather than Konoha.
• Seductive Spy: This was probably her intended role, but someone screwed up her social training just a bit. Instead, she's simply a spy who happens to be female.
• Torture Always Works: Completely subverted, since Hanare's special abilities allow her to completely erase suspicious information from her mind, and because she's been more rigorously trained in counter-interrogation techniques than any of the named characters.
• Tyke Bomb: She was raised by the head of Joumae to be an infiltration expert and never realy questioned orders, even as an adult. At least, up until she meets Kakashi again. There was a certain element of social deprivation involved--Konoha is much more open than she's used to.
• Yamato Nadeshiko: At least, as close to being one as an espionage expert kunoichi can be.

Inuyasha Canon Good Guys

Kagome Higurashi

• Action Mom: Well, it's kind of a given at this point...
• Berserk Button: Don't hurt anyone she cares about unless you want your head vaporized by a sparkly pink arrow.
• Genki Girl
• Happily Married: To Inuyasha.
• The Heart
• Holy Hand Grenade: Based on her reiki powers, she can mass-murder any youkai she comes across given enough time and ammunition.
• The Medic
• Miko: The oldest and most powerful in the history of their world.
• Plucky Girl
• Really Seven Hundred Years Old: As she points out to Team Minato.
• Reasonable Authority Figure
• Straight Arrow
• Tsundere: Type B.
• Team Mom

Inuyasha

• Attack! Attack! Attack!: Okay, he doesn't have much of a head for strategy.
• Barrier-Busting Blow: Used more than once against uppity Oto-nin. Even on the barrier designed to trap the most powerful man alive.
• Berserk Button: He hasn't changed much, despite currently being second in power among all of the youkai left on the planet. Don't mess with people he cares about and maybe you'll live.
• Brutal Honesty: He hasn't really mastered the art of subtlety.
• Counter Attack: Remember the Tessaiga? It can cut through dimensions now.
• Eyes of Gold
• Half-Human Hybrid: Still a half-youkai, as per the ending of his own series.
• Happily Married: To Kagome.
• Hot-Blooded
• Jerk with a Heart of Gold
• No Social Skills: Granted, he's gotten better, but he's still rather rough around the edges and probably will be until the day he dies.
• Perpetual Frowner
• Really Seven Hundred Years Old: Well over a thousand at this point.
• Sir Swearsalot: He's much more likely than any other character to drop a Cluster F-Bomb, including Obito at his worst.
• Team Dad
• White-Haired Pretty Boy

Shippou

• Chick Magnet: It's mentioned that Souten is his "first wife" and favorite. He's also managed to have many of those sixteen children out of wedlock. But since he's a kitsune, no one really cares all that much.
• Fiery Redhead: Well, insofar as he actually is a redhead. It's more auburn, and he doesn't run as hot as some of the other characters that fall under this trope.
• The Ghost: He doesn't show up in person until some fifteen chapters after he's introduced as the catalyst of the entire plot.
• Hot Dad
• Kaiju: Foxes should not get that big.
• Kitsune: The only nine-tailed example in the series aside from the Kyuubi. And ultimately, the only real one.
  • Master of Illusion: To the point that he can see through everyone else's, too. And then he passed that immunity on.
  • Playing with Fire
    • Cold Flames
• The Patriarch: He's a nine-tailed fox with more than sixteen offspring. He rules them all with a bunch of jokes, plenty of power, and absolute loyalty.
• Took a Level in Badass: Guess who made it to nine tails and near-invincibility?

Souten

• Action Mom
• Boisterous Bruiser: Much like half the people she knows, it seems.
• Flight: Via similar flying wheels to those that her older brother Hiten used to own.
• Hot Mom
• Kamehame Hadoken: Do not underestimate the amount of damage a pissed-off raijuu can put out when her hand is in your face. Or you won't have a face in very short order.
• Missing Mom: She disappears at some point between meeting Sakumo and Nariko's first foray into Konoha, only to resurface a decade later, having been sealed into a teapot in the interim.
• Person of Mass Destruction
• Rapunzel Hair: In a braid, at any rate.
  • Shiny Midnight Black
• Red Eyes, Take Warning: One of her signature features.
• Sealed Badass in a Can: Turns out that she somehow got herself sealed into a teapot at some point after meeting Sakumo. She breaks out quite a while later.
• Shock and Awe: Well, she is a raijuu.

Sesshoumaru

• Anti-Hero
• Asskicking Equals Authority: He's the ruler of Byakko because he's the most powerful youkai in the entire region.
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: Granted, the reverse also applies.
• Awakening the Sleeping Giant: He's pretty much the most powerful neutral faction in any given conflict, even just on his own. It's generally a bad idea to annoy him, because he's capable of singlehandedly wrecking any known organization in the Naruto universe.
• Badass
• Berserk Button: Seriously, people. Stop trying to kidnap Rin. It has never ended well for the perpetrators. Including for the King of Hell.
• Eyes of Gold
• Flash Step
• Happily Married: Well, as much as anyone can actually tell that he's happy, ever.
• Physical God: He's gotten quite a bit stronger than he was at the end of his origin series.
• Person of Mass Destruction: Ever since he mastered the use of the Bakusaiga.
• Really Seven Hundred Years Old: Closer to 1,700 now.
• The Stoic: The closest he gets to showing an actual expression of emotion during the course of the story is when the Sound Four make the mistake of assuming they can slow him down. Cue Psychotic Smirk and Curb Stomp Battle.
• Story-Breaker Power: And this is why he usually stays home to quell rebellions and stuff.
• Youkai: Taiyoukai.

Rin

• Badass Damsel: She refuses to be cowed in the worst of situations, because Sesshoumaru will always save her. And she's right.
• Deadpan Snarker: Under the right circumstances.
• Happily Married: To Sesshoumaru. She's one of the very few people who can make him smile, and she's the one he'll do anything for.
• One Steve Limit: Defied. This Rin is the one from Inuyasha canon and is married to Sesshoumaru. She actually thinks the naming coincidence with the medic-nin is rather funny.
• Parents in Distress: Happened once. Her kids proceeded to open the gates of hell on the kidnappers.
• Plucky Girl: She's gone through a lot. It doesn't really slow her down.
• Really Seven Hundred Years Old
• Yamato Nadeshiko

Original Characters from The Promise feature these tropes:

Nariko Inabikarito

The oldest of the fox youkai who decide to stick around in Konoha, Nariko has a high opinion of herself when she arrives. That quickly changes once she gets some actual experience, and eventually she becomes a stronger and kinder person for it.

• Ambadassador: Several years post-Madara, she finally earns this position among her peers and spends most of her time in Konoha, when she's not just being her family's Courier.
• Badly-Battered Babysitter: When you're looking after Naruto and Sasuke, this kind of thing is expected. And justified.
• Boobs of Steel: As a youkai, she constantly uses her youki to augment her physical strength, in addition to whatever abilities she has normally. And as a kitsune in particular, her human form comes with a rack.
• Eyes of Gold: Again, a reference to the fact that she's a kitsune (or at least half).
• Deliberate Injury Gambit: During Kakashi Gaiden, she doesn't have a whole lot of other tricks, so she allows an Iwa-nin to run her through in order to get her claws in him.
• Femme Fatalons
• Functional Magic: As far as fox-magic goes, she's rather proficient.
  • Playing with Fire
    • Cold Flames
  • Shock and Awe: Her mom's a raijuu.
  • Master of Illusion: Well, she is a fox.
• Healing Factor: Which allows her to survive multiple lethal torso injuries without much trouble.
  • Good Thing You Can Heal: She's a bit of a kunai-magnet. Without knowing it, she actually manages to take almost all of the crippling/lethal blows meant for the other characters during Kakashi Gaiden. As a result, Team Minato survives mostly unscathed.
• Heroic BSOD: She has a brief one upon realizing that she's being called back home to fight in a war and many of her human friends are dead.
  • And another one upon realizing that her siblings are dead.
• Improvised Weapon: Her geta. And yet, throwing shoes with her youkai strength can be...messy.
• Kitsune: A black one. More specifically, her and her siblings' natures foreshadow which of them die. White, black, and nine-tailed foxes are considered lucky in Japanese Mythology--Nariko, Haruki, and Umeko are black, white(ish) and red, respectively, and all of them have four tails or fewer. Umeko dies first. Since white is the color of death in Japan, Haruki dies next. Nariko, with four tails, black coloring, and a lot of extra help, manages to survive the prologue.
• Plucky Girl
• Power Trio: With her younger brother and sister.
• The Prankster
• Pride Before a Fall: She has a rather inflated opinion of her own abilities, but it quickly becomes obvious that she isn't a trained fighter and her natural abilities barely make up for it. She decides to dedicate herself to actually becoming stronger thereafter.
• Really Seven Hundred Years Old: Actually, a little over three hundred.
• Reverse Grip: Seen when she uses her kodachi. This is mostly because she doesn't so much slash with it as block all the time.
• Rapunzel Hair
  • Shiny Midnight Black: Her hair is like this, and rather long.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: Not long after she's first introduced, she decides to cut her hair back to more manageable levels--hip-length is a bit too long for a close-combat fighter.
• Shipper on Deck: She is constantly rooting for Kakashi to get into some kind of relationship that lasts more than two weeks.
• Super Strength: To a lesser degree than the dogs, but more than any normal human.
• Team Mom: It seems to be her default state no matter who or what she's dealing with--with her actual siblings, or Yukihana's orphaned children in a side-story.
  • The sole survivor of her litter, she occasionally has problems with the idea of losing any more loved ones.
  • Took a Level In Kindness: From her first, rather arrogant, persona.
  • Took a Level in Badass: As a result of Training from Hell with Sanyu and Amaya, who are both several Character Tiers higher than she is. Still disappears into a Corner of Woe if said said training is mentioned.
• Trademark Favorite Food: Inarizushi and any other type of fried tofu dish. Also, rice.
• Unusual Eyebrows: Hers are shaped more like slightly elongated black dots than anything. It's an Okami reference.
• Victoria's Secret Compartment: She tends to keep the MacGuffin of the day in here. Along with blackmail photos, snacks, and money. It's apparently a way for her to make up for the fact that she doesn't have any pockets.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting
• When All You Have Is a Hammer: She can't use chakra due to the fact that she hasn't got any, so she relies on her youkai powers to keep her edge in a world full of supernatural ninjas.
• Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: She's terrified of dogs.

Haruki

Nariko's nervous younger brother, Haruki is probably more dangerous than he lets on. He rarely does anything too out of the ordinary and actually seems to have many of his sister's traits, just less extreme. It makes him the most agreeable out of them, though he's a bit of a failure as far as prankster foxes go.

• Butt Monkey: In the family, anyway.
• Cowardly Lion
• Eyes of Gold
• Fashionable Asymmetry: One sleeve is much longer than the other, he has a fishnet glove up to his wrist on one hand and to his shoulder on the other...
• Fingerless Gloves
• Functional Magic: Like his sisters, he has his talents.
  • Playing with Fire: He's the most fireball-happy of the three foxes.
• Heroic Sacrifice: He tries his best to hold Madara off long enough for Obito, Iruka, and Iruka's parents to get away. The latter two die anyway, as does Haruki after a brief fight.
• Kitsune: A white one.
• Middle Child Syndrome: Mentioned by name in relation to him.
• Really Seven Hundred Years Old: About three hundred.
• Shrinking Violet: An odd male example--he seems to be most nervous around his sisters.
• Stutter Stop: After Madara kills Umeko, Haruki has about a minute to grieve before the battle continues. When he talks again, his stutter and nervous pausing are both gone.
• Trademark Favorite Food: Atsuage.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: Well, he's a fox. More specifically, he tends to lounge around as a tiny white fox when he doesn't want to attract attention.
• White-Haired Pretty Boy
  • Multicolored Hair: Oddly enough, the ends of his hair tend to turn black.

Umeko

Nariko's younger sister, Umeko is the most vicious of the three despite being the youngest and appearing to be the most innocent. She's a no-nonsense, extremely blunt kitsune with absolutely no tolerance for delays or complaints of any kind, though she can be a bit of a snarker herself.

• Brutal Honesty: Practiced continuously.
• Combat Medic: When learning how to be a midwife, she used to defend her teacher's farm from youkai attacks. How? By brutally killing them all.
• Curb Stomp Battle: Madara wastes her in one hit. Of course, that actually ended up screwing him over.
• Deadpan Snarker

Sanyu

Youngest son of the youkai lord Sesshoumaru, Sanyu is a powerhouse at slightly more than two hundred years old. He's by no means the strongest of his father's children, owning a healing sword rather than his older siblings' WMD-class weapons, but he can hold his own in any fight he's been in so far. Even against Madara.

But despite her icy demeanor, she can be kind and polite in the correct circumstances. And she can take on Madara where even the most powerful human characters fail, despite being a full century younger than Nariko.

OC Enemies

Ai

One of Orochimaru's oldest surviving experiments, Ai is a relatively tragic young woman who didn't really realize what she was getting into until she was already in too deep. She fights for the sake of her younger sister, who she doesn't realize is already dead.

• The Berserker
• Body Horror: A potent source of it since she's basically an evil Stitchpunk. The in-universe explanation is that Orochimaru tried to replicate Kakuzu's modifications and failed. She also later had one of her arms blown to pieces, along with about half of her face, which later led to her being given a Byakugan implant and an artificial arm.
• Dead Little Sister: Her sister, San. Not that she knows this.
• Elemental Powers: She has two implanted hearts, much like Kakuzu, which allow her to use Water and Earth Release techniques despite not being able to form hand seals.
• Handicapped Badass: She can't use hand seals because her replacement puppet arm doesn't have fingers.
• Deadly Change-of-Heart: She gets offed while trying to backstab Orochimaru.
• Meaningful Name: It's a bit of a multilingual pun, but while Ai is driven by her love for her younger sister, she also has about as much in the way of emotions as HAL, an AI.
• Rocket Punch: With her puppet arm.
• The Voiceless
• You Have Failed Me...: She doesn't really care about anyone or anything other than her baby sister. When it's revealed that Orochimaru lied to her about the girl's death, she turns on him. It's terminal.

Cameos

Team Cameo/Team Kei/Team Codename

A chuunin-level kunoichi team who usually appear in the background of major events, commenting on everything they see. Their team specializes in search-and-destroy missions, though they can sometimes be called upon to work on search-and-rescue if there's a personnel shortage (to disastrous effect). They also are extremely useful during the Chuunin Exam invasion, since high explosives mesh well with extremely large, scaly targets. The three members are Kei, Asahina, and Nori.

Tropes demonstrated by all three members:

• Fingerless Gloves: Of various stripes.
• Genre Savvy: They know they're bit characters.
• Greek Chorus: Though they tend not to actually break the fourth wall.
• Mass "Oh Crap": Upon realizing that there's an invasion.
• Nonuniform Uniform: The only thing consistent about their outfits and those of the rest of the Konoha-nin? The fact that all of them wear a chuunin vest. Kei's is the closest to bog-standard, while Asahina's is the wildest. Nori's even has Detached Sleeves to go along with it. Also, each one of them wears a dark blue bracelet on one wrist.
• Only Known by Their Nickname: All three members avoid using their actual names for varying reasons. Asahina just uses her last name instead.
• Sibling Rivalry: All of them have siblings they'd rather not deal with, from Kei and Gin's rather mild dislike of being seen together to Nori and Kuri's mutual attempted murder.
• Squee: When Asahina and Nori discover that an invasion means they can cut loose. They even d a Happy Dance. Kei starts praying.

Keisuke "Kei" Yamaguchi

Kei is the voice of reason, the disciplinarian, the medic, and the squad leader under most circumstances. She has a stern personality and has been known to keep teammates in line through the power of her Death Glare alone.
