This is a list of characters in Mitsumete Knight. For the time being, this list concerns mainly the original Dating Sim game, not the RPG Mitsumete Knight R : the R-only characters will eventually be added in the future, but feel totally free to add them if you have knowledge of this game.

Tropes associated with the Asian:
* Asian Gal with White Guy: Inverted, the guy is an Asian and all the girls are from this universe's equivalent of the Europe Continent. This still gets him some trouble in some of his relationships with the girls, as racism runs deep in Dolphan, and him being close to those girls isn't always viewed kindly by others. This is particulary visible in Sophia's case, who has her own father and Johan against the Asian.

* Video Game Cruelty Potential: There are several Events where, as the Asian, you can make decisions on which the life of several characters will depend from. If you don't want to be the Knight in Shining Armor or do a Big Damn Heroes moment, those characters can die or break their relationship with you. Even on non-life decisive moments such as casual dates, he can have pretty harsh, rude and mean answers that will considerably hurt the girls' feelings if you choose them.

She's a sweet and gentle girl who loves singing and dreams to be a theatre actress. This is a list of characters in Mitsumete Knight. For the time being, this list concerns mainly the original Dating Sim game, not the RPG Mitsumete Knight R (feel totally free to add them if you have knowledge of this game).

This list contains SPOILERS. Normally all of them are marked.

Mitsumete Knight is a game which thrives for a deep storyline, lots of secrets, and characters Hidden Depths: so if you plan to, or consider playing this game, by all means do not read the marked spoilers, otherwise you WILL spoil yourself much of the surprise which makes one of this game's strengths. You have been warned.

Main Characters

The Asian

Voiced by: Ryotaro Okiayu (Drama CDs only)

The Player Avatar of Mitsumete Knight. A young man (his age is not explicitly mentioned, but it's implied to be between 20 and 22 years [1]) from the far east, he comes to Dolphan as one of the mercenaries engaged by Dolphan Kingdom to support the regular army and help the Kingdom win the war against its neighbour country, the Dukedom of Procchia, and its mercenary army Valpha-Valaharian. As Dolphan Kingdom will give to his finest warriors the prestigious "Holy Knight" title, which offers fame, glory, wealth and high social status to its holder, the Asian will try his best doing exceptional deeds which will help him gaining this title. He also can go and win the heart of one of the local ladies.

A sword-user, he will be trained at Dolphan's Military Academy, and will regulary receive wages as a mercenary from the army. It's up to him to have side activities, such as having part-time jobs or being a home tutor for example.

He's always accompanied by his loyal Fairy Companion, Piko, but only he can see her.

Unlike his predecessor Naoto Takami of Tokimeki Memorial 1, he's not as proeminent of a character in Mitsumete Knight's Drama CDs, the main girls and the Eight Generals being the main focus there.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:
  • Asian Gal with White Guy: Inverted, the guy is an Asian and all the girls are from this universe's equivalent of the Europe Continent. This still gets him some trouble in some of his relationships with the girls, as racism runs deep in Dolphan, and him being close to those girls isn't always viewed kindly by others. This is particulary visible in Sophia's case, who has her own father and Johan against the Asian.
  • Blinding Bangs: Just like his predecessor Naoto Takami from Tokimeki Memorial 1, but unlike him, doesn't have any art with full face and eyes.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: Mostly averted, since he gets Medals each time he accomplishes heroic deeds. Cruelly played straight however at the end of the game, since, even if you have beaten all the 8 Generals, gained the Holy Knight Title, and have the favours of the King and Princess Priscilla, the Asian will have to leave Dolphan Kingdom regardless due to the Expulsion of All Foreigners Act forcefully concluded by the powerful evil Pixis and Elites aristocrat families.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords
  • Heroic Mime: Played totally straight, unlike aforemented Naoto.
  • Hired Sword
  • Taking the Bullet: If the Asian brings Raizze to the Princess' birthday party, she will put poison in Priscilla's drink. You have three options: try to drink the poisoned drink yourself (which she will make you "accidently" drop under the pretext there was a bug inside it), let Priscilla take it and nearly get Killed Off for Real (she will be narrowly saved by royal doctors, but will still become Lost Forever as you'll be suspected of complicity in her assasination attempt. And finally, play the clown and suddenly drink all three drinks (yours, the poison drink intended to Priscilla, and Raizze's) at the same time which leave you temporarily hospitalized and Priscilla a little mad at you, but Raizze will admire you for this selfless action.
  • Video Game Cruelty Potential: There are several Events where, as the Asian, you can make decisions on which the life of several characters will depend from.

Sophia Robelingue

Voiced by: Hiroko Konishi

The main heroine of Mitsumete Knight.

A student at Dolphan Academy (starting age 15), she lives in a poor family which owes lots of debts, thus why she does lots of hard labour part-time jobs, and is (reluctantly, as she doesn't love him) fianced to Johan Elites, the third son of the powerful noble family Elites. She's a sweet and gentle girl who loves singing and dreams to be a theatre actress. She's the first of the girls you'll meet, and this right at the beginning of the game as the Asian arrives to Dolphan.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:
  • Armor-Piercing Slap: She delivers one of these to the Asian if you choose to talk ill about Sophia's drunken father attitude towards him, in the Event where you meet him.
  • Big Screwed-Up Family: Boy, her family is one hell of a case. Her father is an alcoholic who's Drowning His Sorrows of, when Sophia was 10 years old, having his leg incapacitated after a skirmish against Procchia, and being forced to both take responsibility for this failed battle which also cost all the battalion he commanded, and resign from the army ; her mother and her little brother are affected by a heart disease and her mother concentrate all her attention and affection towards her brother, thus neglecting her daughter and making them estranged. To top that off, they are poor and in debt, and Sophia is basically the only person who holds the family together financially-wise thanks to her part-time jobs.
  • Break the Cutie: Oh my. She takes a LOT of crap, and this, not only before you even meet her, but extend during ALL her storyline, and particularly in the last 1/4 of the game.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Her love feelings towards the Asian if you go her route. Rather justified seeing the situation she's in, and is a driving force of her storyline.
  • Cute Mute: Becomes this near the end of her storyline, caused by the psychological trauma of having been nearly killed in the terrorist bombing of the Theater. She can recover if the Asian always stays by her side, though.
  • Daddy's Girl: She's fully aware of and saddened by her father's alcoholism, but beware her Armor-Piercing Slap if you ever slander him, as she's very close to and worried about him.
  • Damsel in Distress: Not once, but twice. First instance is when you meet her for the first time as soon as you arrive to Dolphan at the beginning of the game, where she's harassed by the Burston Brothers. Second instance is during the second year's academic field trip at Edwards Island, as part of Johan's plan to make him a Knight in Shining Armor to her eyes.
  • First Girl Wins: She has a VERY high Relationship Values progression, thus making her the most likely girl to finish with the Asian if you add her to your roster, don't be an asshole on purpose, and don't miss her crucial Events.
  • Guide Dang It: She's one of the easiest characters to finish with... as long as you don't miss a single one of her 6 crucial Events. And while you won't miss them if you always stay by Sophia's side, one of them is not intuitive : you need to have Anne in your girl roster, and when you propose Sophia to go outside the Hospital so she can take her mind off her sad thoughts for a while, you have to choose the option "go to the sea", where you'll coincidently meet Anne.
  • Joshikousei
  • Memento MacGuffin: Notes from Word of God in Volume 75 of Dengeki Playstation Magazine mentions that, because of her mother's illness, Sophia's family already had financial difficulties, and she never had birthday presents... Until her 7th birthday, where her father offered her a music box. It was an old wooden box, but his father clumsily carved on its bottom "To my beloved Sophia". This left a powerful impression on Sophia which made her love her father even more, and even nowadays, when she opens the music box, her eyes always get wet.
  • Ocean Awe: In one of her events at the Beach, where she silently and profoundly gazes at the dusk-tainted ocean.
  • Perpetual Poverty
  • Rescue Romance: Goes hand to hand with the Damsel in Distress trope above.
  • Runaway Bride / Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace: The bread and butter of Sophia's happy ending, both played straight.
  • Standing Between the Enemies: In the Event where Johan challenges the Asian for Sophia's hand, she interposes between the Asian and Johan, as the latter, defeated in the duel, begs to be given the Coup De Grace, and the Asian was about to oblige.
  • The Unfavourite: To her mother.
  • Why Do You Keep Changing Jobs?
  • You Go, Girl!: She actively tries to make her dream of becoming a theatre actress come true, and in her first crucial Event where she goes at an audition to get a place in the theatre band, she refuses Johan's offer to bribe the judges and wants to get her place by her own efforts. She fails the audition, but the judges were impressed enough by her prestation that, a week later, they offer her to take her as an apprentice anyway. Subverted unfortunately, as this is also what leads her to the streak of Break the Cutie events where she's a victim of the Theater's terrorist attack and (temporary, if the Asian stays by her side) loses her voice due to the trauma, near the end of the game.

Priscilla Dolphan

Voiced by: Yuka Imai

One of the 3 poster girls of Mitsumete Knight along with Sophia and Anne, and one of the most important characters in the game.

The Princess of Dolphan Kingdom (starting age 16), she's the sole direct heir to the Royal line. A free-spirited, wild, mischievous and cheerful by nature Genki Girl, she makes efforts to be a responsible and wise princess in official receptions for her beloved father, but deep down longs for a life as a normal commoner girl. Thus why she often slips out of the castle to blend with the population and see their lives, bringing much worry to the castle's folk, and this is the way the Asian will get to meet her. She feels lonely as nobody understands her wild nature (and she gets often scolded for it), and wishes to find someone who's just as playful as her and understand her.

Priscilla is well-loved by the population, but not so much by the nobles of the Royal Court.

She loves commoners' culture : Buying her common clothes at the Clothing Store, going at the Colosseum, going at the Theater when the burlesque "Joke Knight" play (which is rather disliked by other girls) is played are good ways of getting her to like the Asian. She also likes being flattered, and is proud of her country.

There's a secret behind her however (HEAVY SPOILERS) : in her Ending, she mentions her father and her mother, the King and Queen, aren't her real parents. Indeed, she's in reality of commoner descent, as she was brought in by Anabel Pixis, the head of the powerful noble family Pixis and effective leader of the country through the "Old Families's Two Wings" council (composed of the powerful Pixis and Elites families) to be their adoptive daughter, since King Duran is physically unable to have children ; but very few people know this truth (the bastard that is Anabel Pixis even made sure to get her biological parents murdered to protect the secret, and he made sure to kidnap a baby girl instead of a boy, in fear that when the child would grow and become the King, he would overthrow the Old Families's Two Wings.)

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Anne

Voiced by: Mariko Kouda

One of the 3 poster girls of Mitsumete Knight along with Sophia and Priscilla, and one of the most important characters in the game.

An extremely kind and shy girl, she's the very incarnation of a Mystical Waif in this game : her existence is shrouded in mystery. She has no full name, no birthday, no blood type, no known past, and appears from nowhere in the Asian's life near the end of the game's 3rd year, saying she watched him from afar since the time he saved Sophia from the Burston Brothers (at the very beginning of the game) and asking him if she could become his friend.

If you go her route, you'll get to have a look at this mystery. Turns out (HEAVY SPOILERS) she's a tragic character. She's strongly implied to be a Cute Ghost Girl : 50 years ago before the time the Asian arrives to Dolphan, Anne was a girl who, just like Sophia, was one day harassed in Dolphan's port by punks. A warship from the distant Albia Empire happened to have a stopover at Dolphan, and a commissioned officer from this ship named Weil (NO, not that Weil) saved her, sparking an instant and deep mutual love between them. He later proposed to her, to her delight, and they decided to go to Albia, and marry and live together there. Unfortunately, during the trip, the ship encountered a violent hurricane. The ship sunk and numerous lives were claimed, including Weil's. As for Anne, her fate was unknown, and there are no records of her. However, her "existence" remains on this earth, fuelled by the regrets she has of not having been able to save her love.

Her fate is strongly linked to Sophia and the Asian, (HEAVY SPOILERS) as she manifested herself in several periods of time. One was when Sophia was little and lost her way in the city of Danan : Anne picked up the crying little girl in her lap, and sang a beautiful song, which calmed and charmed her, until her parents found her. It's from this incident that Sophia came to love singing, and this singing will become a plot point in Sophia's storyline (where aforemented Sophia will mention that Anne hasn't aged since that time, cementing even further the Cute Ghost Girl theory). The other comes with the Asian, as the event where he saves Sophia from the punks overlapped with Anne's memories of her being saved by Weil, thus why she fell in love with the Asian, and also why she saves him, in a mermaid-like shape, when he falls from the boat in Linda's birthday party, and why she wants to be with him.

She has a deep love for the sea, so locations related to it are excellent date spots for her. She also works part-time at the Pharmacy. She's also the only girl in this game who doesn't have an Uneasiness Gauge, and thus will never be angry at the Asian. However, if you want to get her ending, please note that she has two possible routes, and only one leads to her Ending. To go this route, you need to know Linda and be liked by her enough to receive an invitation to her Birthday Party. Also note that you need to go both routes if you want to complete Anne's CG Gallery.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Raizze Haimer

Voiced by: Yumi Touma

A quiet and distant girl who attends Dolphan Academy as a foreign student (starting age 15). Always calm and collected, donning a serious and icy face, soft-spoken, it's extremely rare to see her smile, blush, or be angry, and she doesn't have any friends at least initially. She wears at all times a pair of red gloves, which are iconic of her.

She seems to be interested in the Asian's mercenary activites and connections, as proved during their first encounter and at Priscilla's 3rd Birthday where she can use the Asian to enter the place and try to assassinate Priscilla with a poisoned drink.

This is because (HEAVY SPOILERS) actually, she's probably the most important main girl storyline-wise : her real identity is "Salishuan the Spy", one of the 8 Generals of Valpha-Valaharian, sent to Dolphan by leader of the 8 Generals Wolfgario the Ravager under the cover of an ordinary student to gather useful information that could serve to Procchia's victory.

However, what's more to this, is that (HEAVY SPOILERS) she's Wolfgario's sole daughter : the real reason why he sent her to Dolphan was actually to protect her. He fully knew he was facing a losing war, and wanted to carry it on anyway because of his grudge towards Dolphan and its King ; however, he absolutely didn't want to sacrifice his beloved daughter, so he thought the safest place for her to be would be inside the enemy's very lines. He used the pretext of sending her in a mission, because he fully knew she would refuse to go and would stay by his side if he told her the truth.

Add to this background info that (HEAVY SPOILERS) Wolfgario, Raizze's father, is actually the elder twin brother of King Duran Dolphan : that makes her technically the sole rightful heir to Dolphan's throne, as Priscilla is actually an adoptive daughter of King Duran (so they aren't true cousins : and note that you have here the reason why she aims at Priscilla's life, since she considers her the daughter of her beloved father's sworn enemy) , and you've got a quite a character out there.

Because of her rich storyline, as well as her personality (quite reminiscent of Rei Ayanami), and because she's not one of the poster girls (at least not before the second game, Mitsumete Knight R), she's the biggest Ensemble Darkhorse in the whole series by far : she ranked 1st in poll conducted by the Japanese magazine Dengeki Playstation with 214 votes, far ahead from 2nd ranked Anne and her 156 votes, and 3rd ranked Sophia and her 112 votes. An ongoing online poll conduced by one of the largest Japanese Mitsumete Knight fansites also puts her first, with 2 times more votes than the second-ranked character.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:
  • Action Girl: You get a first insight of this if you let Sam Burston defeat you in one of her events. When he then sets his eyes to Raizze, before he even knows it, she disarms him and proceeds to swiftly and effortlessly make him flee.
  • Big No / Say My Name: does both of them in succession when she witnesses the Asian giving her father Wolfgario the Coup De Grace after their one-on-one duel.
  • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: subverted, see Good Scars, Evil Scars below
  • Child Soldier: Albeit one who's not used to battlefields and killing yet, unlike Corkilneipha.
  • Crash Into Hello: How the Asian meets her for the first time.
  • Daddy's Girl: Well, her mother is implied to be dead.
  • Daddy's Little Villain: When following her route, if she doesn't love you enough and you refuse to fight her, she'll swear to take over and rebuild the Valpha-Valaharian Mercenary Brigade, and one day to come back destroy Dolphan Kingdom.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen
  • Emotionless Girl
  • Face Heel Turn: In her route, if the Asian defeats her father Wolfgario, one week later she'll come at him for revenge, as Salishuan the Spy of the Eight Generals. It's a permanent one if she's not deeply in love with him, but if she is, she'll be torn between her duty of revenge and her love for him, allowing you to give her a Get A Hold Of Yourself Woman by defeating her in duel, then reminding her father's last words pleading her to live, as an ordinary woman, and allowing you to get her Ending.
  • Foreshadowing: Tons but very, very subtle. For example: you see her iconic red gloves? Ask yourself if you've seen that color on the battlefield anywhere.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars / Scars Are Forever: She always wear her red gloves to hide the bedsores she got from sword training, and always wears full clothes save for the arms and face, because it's the only place she doesn't have scars from her trainings : torso, belly, hips, back, she bears scars on all of those. This is also why she adamantly refuses to go to the beach on summer.
  • Hannibal Lecture: She gives an awesome one to Sam Burston after she defeats him.
  • Ice Queen
  • Iconic Item: The red gloves she wears at all times; Laury notably calls her with the affectionate "Tebukuro no Onee-chan" ("Gloved Big Sis") nickname due to this, in the Drama CDs. There's a reason why Raizze always wear them : it's to hide the bedsores she got from her harsh and constant sword training.
  • In the Blood: She inherited her sword skills from her father Wolfgario, and was trained by him when she was a child.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: Subverted, Raizze and Wolfgario fully know they are daughter and father (and loving ones at that), it's the Asian (and thus the player) who doesn't know this until The Reveal.
  • The Mole: The official reason behind Wolfgario's sending of Raizze / Salishuan in Dolphan.
  • Nice Hat: She wears a beret in her Autumn and Winter outfit.
  • Nintendo Hard: She's probably the hardest character to get the Ending of in this game. Her love growth is VERY slow, there's only 3 places (Colosseum, Dance Hall, and Boutique) she likes, and has specific requirements to complete, most notably defeating all 8 Generals, and make sure to have a FULL Love Gauge when facing the 8th one. And since the requirement to get one of her CGs is to be defeated by one of the Generals in war battle, this means you can't complete her CG Gallery in one go.
  • New Transfer Student: She enters Dolphan Kingdom and integrates Dolphan Academy in September of the game's 1st year.
  • Odd Friendship: In the Drama CDs, both Sophia and Priscilla manage to forge a deep friendship with her. Especially remarkable in Priscilla's case, as Raizze tries to kill her and even manages to poison her at one point of the storyline. Thanksfully, both Priscilla and their relationship come out fine in the end.
  • Phenotype Stereotype: In this universe, it's general knowledge that black-haired people are rare in Dolphan, meaning that they're probably foreigners. And that's partially the case with Raizze, as her mother is indeed from Swezeland, and she must have taken the hair from her ; however, her father is from Dolphan, as he's the King's twin brother.
  • The Reveal: both as Wolfgario's daughter and as Salishuan the Spy.
  • Standing Between the Enemies: Does this as the Asian is about to deliver the Coup De Grace to her father Wolfgario. It fails.
  • Tampering with Food and Drink: She tries to poison Priscilla at the princess' Birthday Party. She can succeed or fail her attempt depending on your choices, but whatever the case no one will die in the end, as Raizze's young heart is too green and not used to kill, so she subsconciously didn't use an insta-sure-kill poison.
  • When She Smiles: The rare times she actually smiles, they're really beautiful ones. One of her Events actually nets you a CG called "Mezurashii Egao" ("An unusual smiling face") in the Mitsumete Gallery.

Hanna Shawski

Voiced by: Kanako Okada

A student at Dolphan Academy (starting age 15). A sweet Bokukko Genki Girl who likes sports a lot, and is training regulary. She likes the simple things of life, and is frequently Late for School. She has a sister, a cousin in Carol, and a sworn rival in Linda. She plans to go on a study trip at a sports' academy in Swezeland once she graduates from Dolphan Academy.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Linda Zakroid

Voiced by: Michiko Neya

Heirhess (starting age 15) of the Zakroid Conglomerate, a business which recently became very wealthy thanks to the diamond and rock phosphate markets. A very arrogant and haughty girl who looks down on commoners and their customs, she attends Dolphan Institute, a private school version of Dolphan Academy, and excels at both studies and sports.

However, while her proud character is genuine, she deep down has a good heart, and is simply pushing the haughtiness to the extreme as she has the complex of being looked down as a nouveau riche by the old aristocrat families, and wants to prove them she and her family are just as good as them.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Linda: Don't go... I don't want to lose you... I don't want money nor fame anymore... I just don't want to lose you... All I am now is a woman without merit who has fallen in poverty, but I'd wish to stay by your side... Please... Don't abandon me...

  • Nice Hat: She loves wearing fancy hats.
  • Noblewoman's Laugh: A really distinctive one.
  • Pimped-Out Dress: With jewels incrusted in them, no less.
  • Rags to Riches: The Zakroid Family became suddenly extremely wealthy thanks to having a monopoly in the prosperous rock phosphate business (a monopoly they mostly gained thanks to a powerful duke who uses his influence to keep a ban on the importation of cheaper rock phosphate from Siberia). If you want to get Linda's ending, you must make evolve this situation to A Fool and His New Money Are Soon Parted, by letting the terrorist bomb the Theater : the aforemented duke, who was the target of this attack, will die, allowing for Dolphan's government to lift the ban, and precipitate the Zakroid Conglomerate to bankruptcy.
  • Rich Bitch
  • The Rival: Hanna. Just like her, Linda doesn't like her much, but not to the point of being Arch Enemies, since, near the beginning of the game, she went the trouble to search for her at Dolphan Academy to discover this rival (and this is one of the two ways you can meet Linda, the other being at the Christmas Party if you have less than 2 girls in your roster).

Lesley Lopicana

Voiced by: Junko Iwao

A student at Dolphan Academy (starting age 15), she lives alone due to her estranged parents' job. She's a girl with a brusque and strong personality, but deep down feels lonely. Before she knew it and thanks to the little girl's cheerful and adorable personality, Laury became her little sister figure, and thus Lesley is highly protective of her, even though she's not afraid of chiding her at times when her imagination goes too wild or she does stupid things.

She loves painting, a liking she took from her uncle, a painter who was her father figure when she was a child ; she also plans to go study painting in Swezeland when she graduates from Dolphan Academy. On summer and winter periods, she has a part-time job at the Coffee Shop.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:
  • Big Sister Instinct: Towards Laury. This is one of the two ways you can meet them both, as she mistakenly thought the Asian was the foreigner who's harassing Laury, and attacked him violently. She'll also frantically participate in Laury's rescue from said foreigner who has kidnapped her in a later Event, and you can get to join forces with her. Failure in saving Laury, (or not bothering to go to her rescue), will result not only in Laury's death, but also in Lesley's departure from Dolphan to a foreign country, devastated by this event, making them both Unwinnable for the remainder of the playthrough..
  • Cute Bruiser: Especially her Mitsumete Knight R incarnation, where Power Fists are her Weapon of Choice..
  • Dirty Old Man: She'll call the Asian one, if, in the Bar Event, he chooses to flatter her, instead of calling her a brat. One of the rare cases in this game where being rude to another girl improves your relationship with her.
  • Expy: She's a VERY obvious one of Ayako Katagiri from Tokimeki Memorial 1, down to the fear of water and the love of sketching and painting.
  • Joshikousei
  • Parental Abandonment: Both her parents are Intelligence agents in Dolphan's army, so, ever since she was little, she was regularly often alone at home and took care of the housework at a young age.
    • Jerkass: Her father doubles as one, as revealed in her Flash Back short story in the 8th track of the 1st Drama CD. He holds a prejudice towards Lesley's uncle Marcus and his occupation, violently slaps young Lesley when she calls him out on this prejudice as well as the aformented Parental Abandonment she suffers, and casually tells his wife, worried about how Lesley stormed out of the house as a result, that "it's all right, she's an adult now".
  • Parental Substitute: Her uncle from her mother's side, Marcus Brings, a wandering painter, was a father figure to her. He treasured her, often visited her at his home, and sometime called her to his atelier, so he can relieve her from her loneliness. He was so important to her heart, she sorts of fell in love with him despite their family link and their 19-years age gap (even though she kept it for herself, and her uncle loved her only as her treasured niece). It's because of this love for him she started to love and earnestly study painting. After her uncle left for Swezeland, never to come back, and her parents were reassigned to Danan (thus further abandoning their daughter), she lives at her beloved uncle's atelier alone since then.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: She has a terrible fear of water, and unlike with her predecessor Ayako, we get to know the reasons behind this fear : when she was little, during a trip towards Edwards Island with her parents, she fell from the boat and nearly drowned. Her parents did nothing to save her, only shouting ; she was saved by sailors instead. This terrifying event, along with the distrust of her parents she gained, left her with this deep trauma. She'll overcome it to save the Asian if she's deeply in love with him when he fakes having a cramp, but she'll have herself a cramp, and if you decide to save her, when the Asian will lie her on the beach, she'll tell him in her delirium about this past event.

Laury Callwell

Voiced by: Houko Kuwashima

A little girl who's a Junior High Student at Dolphan Academy, the youngest character of the main cast (starting age 12). A cheerful kid with a wild imagination, she dreams to meet her Prince Charming on his white steed just like the one she heard in the radio stories she's fond of. She considers Leslie as her big sister, calling her "Onee-chan" ; she also calls the Asian "Onii-chan" (Big brother).

Tropes exhibited by this character include:
  • But Thou Must!: In her kidnapping event, if you manage to deduce by yourself where the kidnapper could have kept her captive, aka the Catacombs, you'll get a CG (which is added to the Mitsumete Gallery) showing Laury lying on the floor, unconscious and all tied up. You get two choices then : "untie her" and "gaze at her". The game won't progress until you choose to untie her.
  • Cheerful Child
  • Damsel in Distress: Identical to Sophia, she gets two instances of these. First one is one of the two ways you can meet both her and Lesley : a dangerous dog is about to attack her, and you save her from it. Second instance is the event where she's kidnapped by the foreigner who stalked her since near the beginning of the game.
  • Hair Decorations: She sure likes her hair ribbons.
  • Infant Immortality: Very much averted, as part of the Anyone Can Die stance of the game. When she gets kidnapped, if you fail to save her, or decide not to go to her rescue, she'll be killed.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: She takes home three kitten she found abandoned. if you have Gene in your girl roster, she'll lose them in a later Event, and with the help of Gene and eventually Sam Burston, you can find them and give them back to Laury.
  • Prince Charming : She dreams of meeting hers , and each time the Asian saves her from her Damsel in Distress pinches, she'll think of him as her Prince Charming.
  • Rescue Romance: Linked closely to Damsel in Distress above.
  • Rose-Haired Girl
  • Token Loli

Gene Petromolla

Voiced by: Shiho Niiyama

A tough girl who makes a living as a stagecoach driver (starting age 20). Born in Swezeland, she emigrated to Dolphan with her parents and got the Dolphan nationality, but shortly after her parents died in a ship wreckage. She's also the granddaughter of this universe's founder of Chemistry, Galilea (a thinly-veiled Shout-Out of Galileo), but, despite having not really known him since she was little the last time she saw him, she resents him as a person who sacrified his family in favour of his beloved researches.

Has a very rough speech pattern, uses "Ore" and other very masculine pronouns, and is friends with Sam Burston, one of the three local punks. Despite this Tomboy personality, she's a total lover of nature and animals, so she enjoys the company of manly men who stand up against her and other people, and also are Friends To All Living Things.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Teddie Adelaide

Voiced by: Miki Nagasawa

A young woman who works as a nurse at Dolphan Hospital (starting age 20). The Asian will meet her if his HP goes to 0, either by exhausting himself with exercises or part-time jobs, or by being defeated in one-on-one duels : she'll then look after him during his stay at the Hospital.

She loves exciting things and sports, and thus like active people ; she's also an eager student of Menesys, and has friendly ties with Sarah Pixis. There's a hidden fact which puts all those traits in a new light : Just like Sarah, she suffers from atrial septal defect, a heart disease she has since birth. Despite Dolphan's high advancement in medicine knowledge for a medieval setting, this is a disease without treatment at the time being, and is what drove Teddie to become a nurse, and to follow Menesys' lesson so she can become a doctor, a doctor who can heal any illness. Getting to see the Event where her illness kicks in and, as she suffers, she talks about all of this to the Asian, is the mandatory condition to get her Ending.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:
  • Easier Than Easy: As long as you don't miss her mandatory Event, she's one of the easiest characters to get the ending of, and to complete her CG Gallery.
  • Florence Nightingale Effect
  • Genki Girl: With a twist.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Near the end of the game, if Teddie has a high Love Gauge with the Asian, Noel will appear, claiming she's an old acquaintance of the Asian, triggering Teddie's jealousy ; Noel will use this to go in a "who has the most advantageous female attributes of the two" game : one of the two girls will be Lost Forever no matter what you do, and the one who'll be lost will be the one receiving the less answers in her favour. If Teddie wins, her affection with the Asian will go sky-high, pretty much guaranteeing getting her Ending if you don't forget to see her mandatory Event.
  • Hospital Hottie: Well, since she's a pretty girl with nice proportions, she can also qualify as Hello, Nurse!.
  • Ill Girl
  • Nice Hat: She wears a beret in her Autumn and Winter uniform.

Carol Palecki

Voiced by: Chinami Nishimura

Hanna's cousin, she's a waitress at Caraway Avenue's Restaurant (starting age 19) Midway through the game, if she likes the Asian enough, she'll get a job as a maid at Dolphan Castle, thinking she would have more opportunities to meet him there than at the restaurant.

An extreme Genki Girl who's nearly always laughing, it's extremely rare to see her with another expression, and thus makes difficult to know her real feelings. This laughing attitude is all but a façade she constructed since she was young, as back then she was the target of bullying, and had no friends. She then thought that, if she showed herself smiling and laughing, people would come to like her ; and it lead her to Becoming the Mask as this tactic worked.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Sue Grafton

Voiced by: Yuko Mizutani

Daughter of the town's bakers (starting age 22), friend of Carol. Her parents are a lovey-dovey couple, and being brought up in such a family, she yearns for getting a husband and having a loving relationship with him too. However, she's a temperamental and very exigent person, and this drives away all her potential suitors, making it impossible for her to score anyone. She often laments on her inability to get a husband and fears to become a Christmas Cake who will never experience love.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Sarah Pixis

Voiced by: Yuko Minaguchi

Daughter of the powerful noble family Pixis, cousin of Priscilla, and friend of Teddie (starting age 15). She has a weak body and suffers a atrial septal defect, a heart disease she has since birth, so she has to stay at home. She has a pessimistic view of life, and yearns for having a healthy body. The Asian can meet her, working as her private tutor.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Claire Majoram

Voiced by: Kikuko Inoue

Wife of Yang Majoram, the Asian's direct superior (starting age 27). A calm and soft-spoken woman, she's the oldest main character of the cast.

During the game, in the middle of first year, Yang dies in the battle of Iriha, making her a widow. To make ends meet after Yang's death, she works as a croupier at the Bar. The Asian can meet her right after this fateful battle either at the Bar or at the Graveyard.

It's also after Yang's death that Messeni gets to love her, and if the Asian doesn't target her, she'll marry him.

A few clues inside the game, and especially author notes in the Dengeki Playstation Magazine, shows her past : when she was 19, she was living in neighbour country Hungaria, her maiden name being Winston., and was a student at the Science Institute Borque. This is at this time, and the military ground situated near the institute that she met her future husband, Yang, as well as Seil Necselaria, who would in the future become one of the Eight Generals of Valpha-Valaharian, "Necselaria of the Gale".

Her first meeting with Yang was a disaster, however : he was a good hearted, but shy person rather crude in his speech, and he had an unfortunate line in "A woman riding a horse, that's..." which left a bad first impression to Claire. Seil, however, acting all gentlemanly, easily managed to get Claire's attention and affection. This lead to a Love Triangle in which Seil emerged as the winner for Claire's love, until he had to flee Hungaria as he has murdered his and Yang's superior officer, leaving Claire behind, never to see her again. The young girl, devastated by these events and by Seil's abandoment, sealed herself from everybody, but Yang was still there, and patiently, lovingly, comforted her and gave her his strength. Touched by his kindness, she gradually fell in love with him, and when she was 25 and Yang was 27, they married.

  • Burn, Baby, Burn: In the Event where the 1st anniversary of Yang's death is celebrated, one of the best routes showing Claire finally beginning to take a first step towards accepting Yang's death and to move on, is when she decides, supported by the Asian, to ritually burn her husband's cape.
  • Hair Antennae
  • Love Triangle: in the past, between her, Yang and Seil ; in the game's current time, after Yang's death, between her, Messeni and Mieu, who's in love with Messeni and hates Claire for being in her way "“ even though Claire is not aware of this ; this becomes a Love Dodecahedron if the Asian joins the mess by targeting Claire.
  • May–December Romance: On both ends of it : the Asian, who's much younger than her, can score her ; if he doesn't, Messeni, who's much older than her, will marry her.
  • Romancing the Widow: The whole point of her scenario.
  • Second Love: Yang is her second love, and the Asian will be her third love if he scores her after Yang's death.
  • The Gambler
  • The Mourning After: The Asian will have to fight this trope to win Claire's heart.

Menesys

Voiced by: Yuuko Nagashima

One of Dolphan's highest scientific authorities in medical and researches domains, and Teddie's teacher at pharmaceutics. She lives secluded in a wooden shack deep inside Camitsure's forest, completely absorbed by her chemical experiments. Said experiments are the cause of the forest's creepy appearance, as she throws away in the forest all her failed chemicals, mutating the trees and plants around. Because of this, and her creepy witch-like looks and attitude, she's disliked and feared by the people living the area, as well as by Gene, who's a Friend to All Living Things and thus hate seeing her mistreating the forest like this, as well as being an embodiment of her grandfather Galilea.

For Menesys, who's an orphan who doesn't even have a second name nor a birthday as she was abandoned at the front of a church in Swezeland, science and studies are everything for her since her youngest days. She was a Teen Genius who got accepted in a prestigious university and even managed to be one of the personal pupils of Galilea, the founder of chemistry in Mitsumete Knight's universe, but as a result this warped her personality, as while her intellect grew as an adult's, her emotional mindset remained one of a child / teenager, and this is still visible many years after in the game's current time.

Sacrificing everything to studies also had a toll on her social skills and her emotions : she has no friends, (HEAVY SPOILERS) and she even went as far as repressing the feelings of love, the first ones she ever had in her life, she had, in the time when she was Galilea's pupil, for Galilea's other personal pupil and her senior greatest rival who was more talented than her, Mihael Zeelbis, the one who would later become Zeelbis the Bloody of the Eight Generals of Valpha-Valaharian.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Noel Ashetta

Voiced by: Wakana Yamazaki

A mysterious and gorgeous woman who appears from nowhere near the end of the game, claiming that she's a close acquaintance of the Asian, despite him not knowing her at all. Has provocative attitudes and likes company.

Her birthday and blood type are unknown, and she's overall a mystery. But if you follow her route, (HEAVY SPOILERS) turns out she's actually your Fairy Companion, Piko, in disguise.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Secondary Characters

Piko

Voiced by: Wakana Yamazaki

The Asian's Fairy Companion. A being originating from his heart, only he can see her. She's his sidekick since his young days and always provides him with good advices. Playful and a bit mischevious, she loves to make snide remarks and tease the Asian, but she's a good-hearted fellow.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Johan Elites

Voiced by: Hideo Ishikawa

The Asian's rival, third son of the powerful noble family Elites, and Sophia's fiance. A despicable man who thinks he's superior to anyone due to having the blood of his Holy Knight of a father flowing in his veins, and thus abides to the Hard Work Hardly Works and Screw the Rules, I Have Money mottos.

However, while still firmly despicable, he also appears as an insecure and pitiful man. He's a Momma's Boy completely dominated by his mother, and is torn between loving her and wanting to escape her grasp ; and even though he uses the wrong ways to show it, he's genuinely in love with Sophia and really wishes to make her happy. As such, when looking at him from this light, you can't help but feel for him when Sophia pulls the Runaway Bride thing on him in her Happy Ending.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Yang Majoram

Voiced by: Moriya Endou

The Asian's instructor at the Military Academy, and Claire's husband. Chivalrous down to the core, he's a Stern Teacher who believes in hard work. He may look like a Drill Sergeant Nasty at first, but quickly comes to like the Asian and becomes his favourite student.

However, in the middle of the game's first year, he dies in the Battle of Iriha in a one-on-one duel against Necselaria of the Gale, one of the Eight Generals and his former rival for Claire's love eight years ago, in their days in Hungaria's military.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Milacario Messeni

Voiced by: Masaharu Satou

The Asian's superior officer after Yang dies. Dislikes the Asian (or is he?) and often snubs him, but respects him as an excellent soldier, and he's one of the few people who feels bad for him when he gets expelled from Dolphan because of the Expulsion of All Foreigners Act forcefully concluded by "Old Families's Two Wings" council.

A gruff and uptight man who actually has a heart of gold, he falls in love with Claire after Yang dies, and will marry her if the Asian doesn't target her at the end of the game.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Mieu Cartith

Voiced by: Yuko Minaguchi

The customs' official, in charge of foreigner matters. The first NPC character you'll meet aside from Piko, and the last one as well at the end of the game.

Uptight in her work, she's much more open when out of duty. Likes to go to the bar and drown her sorrows of being in love with Messeni, but he doesn't notice it and is in love with Claire, to Mieu's exasperation.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Prim Rohzbank

Voiced by: Yuuko Nagashima

One of Dolphan Castle's maids, and Priscilla's personal one. Because Priscilla loves to make fun of her, she hates the princess' guts and she doesn't hesitate talking ill of her outside of the castle, but maintains a polite and submissive attitude in front of her.

She loves her grandmother, who was like her a maid at Dolphan Castle. More specifically, Race Rohzbank was the personal maid of Dyunos Dolphan, the elder twin brother of the current king, Duran : she hated the Royal Family and its Court for wounding and exiling Dyunos, and upon her death, her granddaughter Prim took on this torch of resentment.

She does so by pulling the ghost turmoil prank, near the end of the game. If the Asian solves the case, she'll surrender so that she could tell everyone about the evil ways of the people who wronged Dyunos, but she'll then be assassinated in her cell two days later before she can do so. The assassination case is never solved, but it's heavily implied it's the work of Smug Snake Anabel Pixis, who's the one who pulled the Batman Gambit resulting in Dyunos' exile and thus the one who has the most to lose in this case.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Luna Angelis

Voiced by: Yumi Touma

The sister in charge of Dolphan's Church along with the High Priest. She takes turns with him to give the Asian data about the girls' feeling for him, as well as helping him praying so he can halve the girls' Uneasiness Gauge towards him. A highly religious, pure and gentle girl.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:
  • Saintly Church
  • Woman in White: Averted: she does only wear white clothes, but she's a nice girl. The other person in charge of the church, on the other hand...

High Priest

Voiced by: Yasunori Masutani

The High Priest in charge of Dolphan's Church. Fills the same functions as Sister Luna. He was appointed High Priest at this church recently, the former High Priest being assassinated. Affable and soft-spoken, he likes to laugh and joke with people.

(HEAVY SPOILERS) However, this is all a façade. He's actually Mihael Zeelbis, also known as Zeelbis the Bloody of the Eight Generals, who's in Dolphan as a mole ready to wreck havoc with terrorist attacks.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

The Burston Brothers

Voiced by: Yoshiyuki Kouno (Billy), Atsushi Kisaichi (Sam), Yasunori Masutani (Jack)

Dolphan's local brigands, a trio of brothers committing petty crimes for a living, as well as for fun, attacking foreigners mostly. They are hired from time to time by Johan when he needs small fry for his plans. They look dangerous and are genuinely aggressive (as well as being racists ; the Asian may have to fight each of them during the course of the game), but more often than not they are portrayed as pitiful men.

The Asian meets them for the first time upon his arrival to Dolphan Kingdom. They are harassing Sophia at the port, and upon seeing him (doesn't matter if the Asian decides to help Sophia or not), will turn against him, only for Billy to receive a well-placed punch on the face, making them flee, but not before a resenting Billy promises him to settle the score with him one day.

Billy, the youngest of the Burston brothers, is the one with the red punk hair and long tongue. He speaks with a heavy gangster speech (even heavier than the other two brothers), and is the most aggressive of them all. Because he has a weak body, he needs to take drugs constantly, earning him the nickname "Billy the Stoned".

Sam, the middle child, is the bald one with the Cool Shades. He's actually the most likeable of the three, benefiting from a friendship with Gene, and being a Kindhearted Cat Lover like her. He's also the one with the most common-sense of the three.

Jack, the elder brother, is the giant fat one with the chain. Likes to drink a lot and is really violent when drunk.

Tropes exhibited by these characters include:

Pierrot

Voiced by: Kazuya Nakai

The clown and representative of the travelling circus that comes from time to time in Dolphan. An ominous figure who appears for the first time after beating the runaway White Tiger to submission, congratulating you on this remarkable feat. Wears his Pierrot mask at all times, so his real face is unknown...

That is, until a certain groundbreaking event. (HEAVY SPOILERS) During the case of Priscilla's Kidnapping, orchestrated by this clown, we get to know his real identity : Carneau Pixis, the grandson of Dolphan's effective leader Anabel Pixis, who was exiled to Siberia by him because of his leftist ideas, which Anabel considered dangerous for Dolphan's greater good and for his iron grip of power.

Carneau is also Priscilla's former boyfriend, a fact Anabel approved before the boy developed his leftist ideas, as a marriage between them would have strengthened the Pixis family's power on the royalty. However, after Carneau left, Priscilla grew out of this relation which she wasn't that into for starters ; that's not the case for Carneau, who never forgot about her. This is why he came back, as a spy for the distant country Siberia, not only to achieve a mission for the country of getting maps locating rich mines, but also to get Priscilla, take her back to Siberia, and marry her there whether she likes it or not. However, the Asian can foil this plan and save Priscilla. If he does, he goes on the run, never to be caught, with the motivation that if he were ever caught, her beloved little sister Sarah would suffer.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

Robert Robelingue

Voiced by: Tomohisa Aso

Sophia's father. A Jerkass-ish alcoholic who's the shadow of his former self: he is an ex-knight of the Dolphan Army, who has been stripped off his title and kicked out of the army after losing his whole bataillon in a skirmish against Procchia, five years before the beginning of the game. His leg was also crippled during the battle, leaving him walking with a limp. Due to all of this, he spend his days Drowning His Sorrows.

He owes a large financial debt to the Elites family; as such, he has no choice but to promise to marriage his beloved daughter Sophia to the third son of the Elites family, Johan. He's also an acquaintance of Messeni, who's saddened by Robert's decheance.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:
  • Alcoholic Parent: To Sophia. Due to his general sour attitude, he doesn't always talk nicely to her, but he's never violent with her, and he still loves her, showing his Papa Wolf side to the Asian when he first meets him.
  • Drowning My Sorrows
  • Perpetual Poverty: Even in the times he was a knight, his wages barely held out his family financially-wise, due to his wife's heart illness.
  • The Alcoholic
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: He appears in a grand total of one scene in the whole game. The Drama CDs rectify this by giving him a few more scenes, thus fleshing out his character a little.

King Duran Dolphan

Voiced by: Daisuke Gouri

The current king of Dolphan, and father of Priscilla. Also younger twin brother of Dyunos. A soft-spoken man, he treasures her daughter. His wife, Queen Ellis, is an Ill Girl.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

The Eight Generals of Valpha-Valaharian

Wolfgario the Ravager

Voiced by: Daisuke Gouri

Real name Dyunos Wolfgario Dolphan. The commander of Valpha-Valaharian's army corps, he's a proud and fearsome warrior, and master swordsman. Always wears a helmet covering his head, making his identity shrouded in mystery. But you can get to see his unmasked face in a specific run.

He will never stop at trying to overthrow Dolphan Kingdom and its king, (HEAVY SPOILERS) even he fully knows he's going for a losing war, as he has personal reasons behind this resolve : he is the eldest twin brother of Dolphan's current king, Duran, and, in his childhood, due to a Batman Gambit pulled by Complete Monster Smug Snake Anabel Pixis, after he suffered a burn defiguring his face while protecting Duran, he lost his right to succession in favour of his younger twin brother, and was exiled from the country..

He's also (HEAVY SPOILERS) Raizze's father : it's him who taught her how to fight with a sword.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:
  • All Your Base Are Belong to Us: He storms Dolphan's Capitol with his last elite troops near the end of the game. But will fail, regardless if the Asian defeated him or not.
  • A Storm Is Coming: in both Raizze and non-Raizze runs near the end of the game ; but in a Raizze run, he will attack as the hurricane is at its peak and the rain is pouring down hard.
  • Badass
  • Badass Grandpa
  • BFS
  • Black Knight: Fits the trope to a T, save for the single fact he wears red armor instead of black.
  • Cain and Abel
  • Faux Symbolism: His Limit Break 's name? "Heaven's Gate".
  • Grey and Gray Morality: He may have a good Freudian Excuse for waging war against Dolphan, but in doing so, he doesn't hesitate sacrifing his men without telling them his true motives, even though he knows they're probably all going into a losing war : even an evil bastard such as Zeelbis calls him on this upon accidentally learning about it, telling him he's commiting an unforgiveable sin (and this is why Zeelbis more or less deserts Valpha-Valaharian ; and Wolfgario himself admits he has committed this sin to Raizze when defeated by the Asian in his unmasked version battle, and tells her that he has to die to atone for this) ; and to make matters worse, he sends his daughter Raizze to safety, while letting young men of her age like Corkilneipha go to slaughter.
  • The Juggernaut: If the Asian lets him pass instead of dueling him in the special hurricane version of the final battle, the game's narration notes that it takes the lives of more than 200 knights to finally stop him, and they only managed to do it just as he was in front of the room of his target, the King of Dolphan.
  • Last Words: To his daughter, in Raizze's Route : "Go and live your own life, as an ordinary woman". Those last words later become crucial for Raizze's fate.
  • Mighty Glacier: He has monstruous staying power (the highest of all Generls, fit for being their leader), hits like a truck, but thanksfully is somewhat slow at dealing blows.
  • Names to Run Away From Really Fast
  • Red Baron
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge
  • Spikes of Villainy: His helmet has horns. Subverted in that the player discovers he's not really a bad guy in the end, he just wants revenge for the wrongs he was victim of, and is a loving father who wants to protect his daughter at all costs.
  • The Reveal: You can get to see his real face, and know that Raizze is his daughter during a Raizze Run.
  • True Final Boss: You get to fight him in his unmasked version if you have killed the six Generals who have appeared before him, Rinanore and Zeelbis included. He's not more powerful than in his masked version, but his defeated animation in battle is different : instead of just dropping his sword and standing, contracted in pain, he then now holds out his arm towards the sky, gets shocked by a thunderbolt, and falls on the ground.
  • Two Aliases, One Character: Dyunos Dolphan.

Because he's a sociable guy unlike the timid Yang, he managed to get Claire's affection and win the Love Triangle between the three, until he had to flee Hungaria after having murdered his superior officer, leaving Claire behind. He took refuge in Procchia, where he became one of the Eight Generals of the mercenary army Valpha-Valaharian.

In their battle, Seil manages to defeat and kill Yang in their one-on-one duel : but he can be defeated immediately after by Yang's pupil, the Asian, as he will be weakened by Yang's blows during their duel.

He took refuge in Procchia, where he became one of the Eight Generals. However, just a little bit before the Dolphan-Procchia war started, he went missing.

Turns out (HEAVY SPOILERS) he infiltrated Dolphan as the Church's High Priest, waiting for an opportunity to wreck havoc in the country with the bombings he loves so much. He attempts to do so near the end of the game. Depending on if the Asian gets to know about the conspiration and manages to thwart it, or not, this will have tremendous effects on several girls' storylines.
