Rave Master/Characters

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Heroes

Main Characters

Haru Glory

Rave-A-Lution!

Voiced by: Tomokazu Seki (JP), Yuri Lowenthal (EN)

The hero. Haru Glory came from a small island that's referred to as incredibly far out in the sticks and lacks knowledge of most any world history or geographical features. He's incredibly strong willed and noted for having a good heart. He was chosen to be the Rave Master who was to eliminate the Dark Bring.

Plue

Even The Author Doesn't Know What He Is

Voiced by: Yukiji (JP), Mona Marshall (EN)

Rave's bearer. Plue is a dog(?) with an unknown gender and age who travels with either the wielder of Etherion or the Rave (or both) and helps guide them. He doesn't do much as far as guiding them, but he does occasionally help either Haru or Elie when they're in a tight spot. He came dangerously close to being renamed Shabutaro by Haru and Cattleya.

Elie A.K.A Resha Valentine

Voiced by: Ayako Kawasumi (JP), Michelle Ruff (EN)

The main female. Elie is a cheerful amnesiac girl who's just a little off and really likes bugs. She and Haru met in a racing track (a casino, in the anime) where she quickly fell for him because of his kind heart. She follows him around and is revealed to posses the ultimate magic, known as Etherion. She also bears a strong resemblance to Resha Valentine, who passed away fifty years ago, to everyone's continuous confusion which later turns out to be correct.

Griff

We don't know what he is either, but at least he know he has a family

Voiced by: Katsuya Shiga (JP), Tom Kenny (EN)

A strange blue creature originally recruited by Elie to help her and Haru reach the mountain they suspect a Rave stone to be at. He quickly becomes a member of the main cast, and is supposed to be very skilled at map making. His hobby is peeping on Elie. Every other character is better than him

  • The Load: Invaluable as he is as a cartographer and navigator, he is completely useless in a fight.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: Or the not so lovable one.
  • Non-Human Sidekick: Like Plue, we never learn what kind of creature he is.
  • Normally I Would Be Dead Now: Being sliced in two does normally kill one. What kind of bizarre natural selection gives someone the ability to become two people after being sliced in two? What kind of bizarre natural selection makes anything like Griff, for that matter.

Hamrio Musica

Silver Claimer and Chick Magnet

Voiced by: Showtaro Morikubo (JP), Doug Erholtz (EN)

A silver claimer (someone who can manipulate silver) and former gang leader who teams up with Haru after reuniting with his grandfather. He a close friend of Haru's and one of the more capable fighters in the crew, wielding a spear. He eventually strikes up a relation with one of the Demon Card generals, but it didn't work out.

  • Always Save the Girl: Inverted, and he's not happy about it at all.
  • Badass: Until the Memory Retrieval Arc, then he's just a supporting character.
  • Extra Ore Dinary: He can change the shape of silver (and later, any metal) at will.
    • It was originally going to be Haru's power.
  • The Lancer: To Haru, until Let and Shuda reduced him to the 4th wheel.
  • Morph Weapon: The silver he carries with him.
  • Sadistic Choice: Blow up your friends, or blow up the only woman you'll ever have a relationship with.
  • Sarcasm Mode: Very often when talking to Haru
  • Showtaro Morikubo: Not one of his more well known roles.
  • Tall, Dark and Snarky: Especially after changing his hairstyle during the Shuda mini-arc.

Let Dahaka

Voiced by: Takehiro Murozono (JP), Doug Stone (EN)

Originally he was only interested in a challenging fight, and working for King as part of his Quirky Miniboss Squad in order to find them. Let goes over to Haru's side after being awed by Haru's pure heart and desire to protect the whole world.

Ruby

Rich Penguin(???) Sorcerer

Voiced by: Yukiji (JP), Bob Glouberman (EN)

A penguin(?) who inherited a large sum of money and giant floating casino from his late father. He's dismayed to learn he's been funding a criminal origination and ends up going to Haru for protection when he refuses to continue giving Doryu money. He becomes their first safe magic user after Sieg reveals he has the gift, but he's generally considered useless by the cast.

Julia

Badass Dragon Lady

Let's polar opposite girlfriend. She spent a good deal of time stuck as a dragon under Jegan's control, but once she changes back she joins Haru's team. She's the most violent member of the team, especially when it comes to her boyfriend, but she also takes on a somewhat motherly role. She also really wants Haru and Elie to hook up.

Belnika

Magic Girl No. 2

A sweet, somewhat timid girl (she gets better) who underwent experiments in order to try and gain Etherion. They failed, but she acquired some powerful magic none the less. Her specialty is healing. She was duped into working for Hardner, but quickly switches to Haru's side after developing a slight crush on him.

Support Characters

Cattleya Glory

Cool Big Sis

Voiced by: Satsuki Yukino (JP), Cindy Robinson (EN)

Haru's older sister and mother figure. She took over raising him after their dad vanished and their mother left to find him and came back in a body bag. She has little actual role in the series, but is Haru's initial motivation to train and it's implied that she may have forced a little of his nice personality upon him.

Shiba

The First Rave Master

Voiced by: Tomomichi Nishimura (JP), Alan Shearman (EN)
Young Shiba: Koichi Tochika (JP), Steven Blum (EN)

The previous Rave Master. He was close to Resha Valentine, the creator of Rave, so when she gave her life or not to make them she made it so they'd work for him. He fought in the war against Dark Bring and failed to destroy the ultimate one at the very end of the battle, leading to Haru having to pick up where he left off fifty years later. He eventually fights Haru again, now thanks to a potion, he is at his prime. He still loses and dies due to its after effects.

Shuda

Badass Pyromaniac Swordsman

Voiced by: Toshihiko Seki (JP), Crispin Freeman (EN)

The first general of Demon Card that Haru encounters. He joined after Haru's father one of DC's founders got him interest, and has a tedious friendship with Gale. He helps out but doesn't seem to want to be included as part of the inner circle. He's also dating Haru's sister.

Galein Musica

Voiced by: Yuichi Nagashima (JP), Ralph Votrian (EN)

And Xty something year old smith who originally forged the legendary Ten Powers. When one of his swords was used to slaughter his family he gave up on sword making and became a lapdog for Demon Card. He gets better once Haru reunites him with his not quite dead grandson.

  • And This Is For: Slaughtering my entire family.
  • Badass Grandpa: When he stands up to Lance.
  • Dead Little Sister: Losing his family to one of his own weapons made him give up on being a sword's smith.
    • If that wasn't bad enough, he actually served their murderer for a bit least until Haru came along.
  • Unobtainium: He used metal from a shooting star to make his extra special swords.
  • You Killed My Father: just replace father with children, their spouses, and my grandchildren.

General Jade

Voiced by: Takehiro Murozono (JP)

One of the four generals for The Empire who do virtually nothing other than act as Mr. Exposition. Jade stands out because he's the only one that doesn't get killed or turn out to be a mole. He never gets to meet Haru, but spends a good chunk of the story trying any way. He's also Jegan's older brother.

Sieg Hart

So attractive that He stars in another show after this one

Voiced by: Masami Kikuchi (JP), Crispin Freeman (EN)

The first (and for a long while, only) sorcerer introduced. Sieg Hart is a magic swordsman obsessed with protecting time, which comes from being raised in a town with the same obsession. Miltz

"You've put up a good fight, but for the sake of time you must die"

Sieg's mentor, and the head of the village dedicated to protecting the time stream. He unwittingly abuses his authority by having people go out and kill regardless of how they feel about it. When Sieg shows him that Haja is a traitor he becomes a little less uptight about what must be done to protect time.

Nagisa Ansecto

The only female member of the resistance, who's introduced on a self-assigned mission to assassinate Julius.

Yuma Ansecto

The head of a resistance against the Blue Guardians and Demon Card, He had a failed friendship with Hardner that bears an uncomfortable resemblance the one between Gale and King.

Nibel

A resident kid of Sieg's village who also didn't believe in their mission to protect the timeline by any means necessary. He was chased out because of it. But later helps Sig when Haji manipulates the village to turn against him. After Haji is defeated and the king comes to his senses, hes welcomed back. Later accompanies the heroes in the final battle and proves instrumental in the fight against Juria.

Lazenby

A former member of the Imperial Guard of the Empire, after getting beaten easily by Shuda, Haru saves him and he becomes part of the group for the majority of the Blue Guardians Arc. He is a dramatic four armed parody of a superhero with the mistaken belief that the Rave Master is evil and he is doing good, he also has powers over white flames. He remains the same, except viewing Haru as a good guy now.

"Your existence is surreal"

King's son who went Axe Crazy after having a hellish childhood. He took over Demon Card after his father's defeat. He's noted as being something of a slave driver who comes dangerously close to having a god complex, and for offing any subordinate who fails even the slightest bit.

"Oracion Seis"

Reina

Voiced by: Yukana Nogami (JP), Tara Platt (EN), Sandy Fox (Child, EN)

The second Demon Card general introduced. A silver claimer like Musica. She tries to play up her looks and likes to flirt, though she isn't really interested in most men. Jegan

Yandere Dragon Illusionist Bio-Manipulator

Voiced by: Nobutoshi Canna (JP), Stephen Apostolina (EN)

Beryl

Voiced by: Souichirou Tanaka (JP), Kirk Thornton (EN)

The fourth Demon Card general. A Sentinoid who works for Demon Card presumably out of boredom. He's impressed by Lucia's ruthlessness and manages to convince the Demon Lords to bow to him.

The fifth Demon Card general, who acts as temporary leader in the lull between King an Lucia's rule. He's also Demon Card's primary sorcerer. He's eventually revealed to be from the same origins as Sieg with the same mission, but isn't quite as willing to convert to the light.

Julius

Voiced by: Akira Sasanuma (JP), Jeff Nimoy (EN)

The sixth, and vain, Demon Card general. Julius has serious moments once in a blue moon, and usually only because the enemy dared to strike him in the face. In spite of his goofy attitude, he's a powerful fighter, and the other generals tolerate his behavior. He seems to be the only general who acknowledges Shuda as an equal.

Deep Snow

Voiced by: Yusei Oda (JP)

One of the four generals for The Empire, who defects to Demon Card after Lucia takes over. He's later revealed to be King's adopted son, who was sent away to be "saved from the path of darkness". He has no attatchment to Lucia, but serves Demon Card in order try to satisfy King.

  • Ax Crazy: Literally, the only people that make him look sane are Hardner and Shakuma Raregroove, and you believe it when you read about them
  • The Brute: He is easily the least intelligent of the Big Bads of the series.
  • Dumb Muscle: Doryu is obviously a better strategist and has a more thought-out plan than the Oni captain will ever will.
  • Extra Ore Dinary: A gold claimer to Musica and Reina's silver claimers.
  • I Have You Now, My Pretty: Poor Elie.
  • Lust: His main goal is too have all the pretty girls in the world.
