• Bunny Ears Lawyer; Every single CPU is incredibly quirky. They also happen to be the most competent rulers of their respective parts of Gamindustri. Even Neptune.
• Exotic Eye Designs: All CPUs and CPU Candidates have a power symbol in their eyes when in HDD.

Neptune/Purple Heart (debuted in HDN1/Rebirth 1)

Voiced by: Rie Tanaka (Japanese), Melissa Fahn (English)

CPU of Planeptune in the first two games and their remakes, not the case in Victory and Rebirth 3 due to it being being set in a past version of Gamindustri.

• Amnesiac God: In Rebirth 1.
• Big Eater
• Bound and Gagged: How we first see her after a brief attempt at resistance to CFW Magic in the second game and Rebirth 2.
• Cry Cute: Happens to her frequently in the manga.
• Genki Girl: In her normal form
• Girly Run
• Heroes Prefer Swords: Uses Katanas, Broadswords, and Laser Blades. Ultimately many will see that Katanas Are Just Better; turns come up sooner, gun attacks become stronger, and Purple Heart only uses katanas regardless of what she had equipped as Neptune.
• Heroic Safe Mode: Neptune suffers from this after her attempt to get the other goddesses to help her fight Arfoire.
• The Heroine
• Hollywood Pudgy: Is referred to as being pudgy a few times throughout the game, mostly right along side her eating habits.
• In the Name of the Moon: One of Neptune's battle quotes involves this.
• Jack of All Stats: As Neptune
• Konami Code: Can occasionally be heard reciting part of this while using her first Limit Break, only to stop and decide that she has no use for codes anyway.
• Lady of War: Her Purple Heart personality.
• Laser-Guided Amnesia: After she falls from Celestia.
• Les Yay: Many scenes of the game have this between her and the other girls. Some of the bonus art included in the game has this between Neptune and Purple Heart.
• Moe: Called such by IF in one of the cutscenes.
• Mundane Utility: Transforms into Purple Heart just so she can ride a roller coaster. Nepgear and Uni lampshade it.
• My Sister Is Off-Limits: Says as much in one of her character info page quotes.

• • She doesn't seem to mind Nepgear and Uni's Ship Tease though.
• No Sense of Personal Space: Apparently, Neptune doesn't mind hugging someone from the back.
  • They were trying to capture Black Heart but got Noire.
• Paper Fan of Doom: Her DLC weapon is this.
• Ship Tease: Many of the official art has her doing this with Noire.
• Slap-On-The-Wrist Nuke: The CPU Neptune attack has her transform into a spaceship, fly out into space, and then has the scene zoom out to show the entire landmass you're currently on before firing off a Wave Motion Gun, destroying the entire thing. However there's a disclaimer down on the bottom of the screen:

This isn't actually happening.

• Split Personality: Neptune is a Genki Girl, while her alter ego Purple Heart seems to be more of a Lady of War.
  • Though we find out even some of non HDD Neptune has seeped into Purple Heart by Megadimension Neptunia VII.
• Sword and Gun: Neptune seems to keep a sword and a gun on her, but we never see where she gets the gun.
  • Excised in Rebirth 1 and all games after where she uses a sword exclusively.
• Totally Radical: She tends to use some 80's/90's slang such as "bad dude", her death cry of "I'm... outies...", and even "totally rad" at one point. She also has a tinge of Valley Girl in her voice. Keep in mind that she is supposed to represent Sega, who were all about being Totally Radical in the 90's.
• What Happened to the Mouse?: Not her but her "CPU Neptune" skill from the first game.
• Wooden Katanas Are Even Better: Subverted gameplay wise, it's actually her very first weapon and she has much better ones that aren't wooden. However, Neptune has an odd attachment to them and considers them awesome in universe.

Vert/Green Heart (debuted in HDN1/Rebirth 1)

Voiced by: Rina Sato (Japanese), Tara Platt (English)

CPU of Leanbox in the first two games and remakes, as an avatar of the Xbox 360, represents the original Xbox in Victory/Rebirth 3.

• Actor Allusion: Japan-only. Shares the same weapon as Mikoto.
• Badass
  • Determinator: Takes a lot of punishment before she finally is killed in the Conquest Ending of mk2/Rebirth2.
  • Lady of War: As Green Heart, somewhat downplayed version in non HDD form.
  • Pop Cultured Badass: Of all the goddesses, she's the one most in tune with memes, messageboards, and nerd culture.
• Blade on a Stick
  • This Is a Drill Green Heart's spears transform into these.
• Berserk Button: She mentions one on her character info page.

"I don't know who it was, but whoever invented the fatigue system must be just a world class terrorist.

• Cosplay Otaku Girl: Forces Nepgear to wear her costumes in her ending.
• Cross Player: In the game "Four Goddesses Online", she is stated to play a male character.
• Detached Sleeves: Both of her forms wear outfits that have this.
• Gamer Chick
• Hair of Gold
• Heavy Sleeper: When you see Green Heart for the first time, she's just waking up and goes back to sleep while IF was talking with her. A funny nod to the "Red Ring of Death".
  • One of her default accessories in the Rebirth games references this.
• The Hedonist: Green Heart is not just a gamer girl but also a hedonist. Most of her blog talks about her recent parties and the banquets she had.
• Meaningful Name: "Vert" means "green" in French, and she's wearing green, which also represents the Xbox360 and later Xbox One.
• Mercy Kill: During the Conquest Ending route of mk2/Rebirth2, she requests Nepgear to finish her off with the cursed sword since she has no hope of surviving after the beating Linda gives to her.
• Onee-Sama: Nepgear points out that she is the one most like a big sister among the goddesses, and that it's rather ironic considering she actually has no real sisters. Vert explains that it's merely because she had to to keep the other three of them in line.
• Phenotype Stereotype: Blonde, Blue Eye, Busty American.
• Tall Blonde And Bishoujo
• The Other Darrin: Vert was temporarily replaced by Romn's English VA for a few games, due to Tara Platt not begin available.
• The Nicknamer: She doesn't create them herself, but she picks up upon nicknames Compa assigns characters, and enjoys using them as a means to be less formal.
• Underboobs: She plays this trope straight. Neptune even refers to her as such.
• Yaoi Fangirl: When she isn't playing an MMORPG, Vert would probably make any guy who think she is an easy lay will be in for a VERY rude shock (namely when she wants you to bring friends).

Noire/Black Heart (debuted in HDN1/Rebirth 1)

CPU of Lastastion in the first two games, represents the original Playstation in Victory/Rebirth 3.

• Catch Phrase: Usually a variation of "Only does everything". A reference to how the PlayStation 3 was advertised.
• Cosplay Otaku Girl: In one cutscene, Noire is implied to be one.
• Detached Sleeves: Both of her forms wear outfits that have this.
• Expy: Somehow, Noire really resembles Azusa from K-On!.
  • It's mildly implied that the resemblance was what inspired her to learn how to play a guitar.
  • Both Noire and Azusa resemble Kooh from Pangya.
• Faking Amnesia: She does this when she encounters Neptune as Noire, not wanting to reveal her identity.
• Glass Cannon: As Black Heart with the default Processor setup.
• Heroes Prefer Swords
• Lightning Bruiser: As Noire.
• Meaningful Name: "Noire" means "black" in French.
• My Sister Is Off-Limits: Like Neptune, she says as much in her character info page.

Blanc/White Heart

CPU of Lowee in the first games and remakes, represent the original NES in Victory/Rebirth 3.

• A-Cup Angst: Berserk Button is someone pointing out her flat chest.
• Badass Bookworm
• Blood Knight
• Butch Lesbian: Neptune calls Blanc this in her recruitment scene.
• Crack Pairing: Neptune suggests that maybe Blanc has a thing for Compa, just because Blanc was complaining that Neptune doesn't get upset over being insulted like Compa would.
• Detached Sleeves: Both of her forms wear outfits that have this.
• Drop the Hammer: Blanc's main weapon is a hammer.
  • An Axe to Grind: The hammer turns into an axe when she becomes White Heart.
• Expy: Blanc is pretty much a white Vita. Which is now extremely hilarious now that the Play Station Vita is coming out.
• Fan Girl: Surprisingly, towards Falcom. She even asks for her autograph.
• Go Out with a Smile: During the Conquest Ending of mk2/Rebirth 2. After getting run through with the demon sword, she smiles and comments on how it hurts less than she expected, before breathing her last.
• Hair-Trigger Temper: Don't her calm exterior fool you, she gets angry quite easily.

• Lady Swearsalot: At first, she looks calm and collected... But it won't be even ten minutes into the game that you will find out that she doesn't shy away from spewing swearwords like an angry high school student... especially when angry!

Nepgear/Purple Sister

Voiced by: Yui Horie (Japanese), Christine Marie Cabanos (English)

• Affectionate Nickname; Referred to as "Ge-Ge" by most of the other characters
• Badass: To the point she can be even more than one than her sister. Played tragically in the Conquest ending.
  • Badass Arm-Fold: This is how Keiji Inafune appears to Nepgear.
  • Badass Bookworm
• Bare Your Midriff: Her Lilac mkII Processor does this.
• Beehive Barrier: Her Panzer Blade attack causes her enemies to generate one for every swing, just so she can shatter them all in the process of beating them to death.
• Big Word Shout: During her Slash Wave attack. "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
• Bishie Sparkle: Gets these a few times, notably when Uni asks to join the party.
• Catch Phrase: Her oddly-constructed "What the goodness?!"
• Clueless Chick Magnet: Pretty much every other girl on the team aside from Neptune express or generally indicate interest in her, either to be their little sister or romantically. She usually doesn't even notice, or assumes they're joking.
• Combination Attack: The only one who is a required party member for a majority of the combination attacks, the total number (including the DLC power up) being at 10.
• Duel Boss: With a few characters.
• Hair Decorations
• Evil Feels Good: A borderline example, when she runs Linda through with the Demon Sword.

Nepgear: "I should have done this a long time ago."

• Expy: Of Neptune
• Glowing Eyes of Doom: When you summon Keiji Inafune, his eyes glow before Nepgear delivers the final blow.
• Heroes Prefer Swords: Especially if you summon Keiji Inafune.
• Intimate Healing: IF decides to go this route to snap her out of it and get her to go HDD. Compa voices disappointment that she wasn't the one who got to get "Lovey-Dovey" with Nepgear.
• Leeroy Jenkins: Tries to take on a dragon at the behest of "Chika" and almost gets owned by it before being rescued by Cave.
• Lightning Bruiser: Both she and Nisa think she's a Jack of All Stats when she's really this. If you play her right, she's a good tank, dishes out damage harder than the rest, is a required character to all of the Combination Attacks and yet the Irony? She's a Game Breaker if you place her as a support role because she's the only one who can get rid of the Damage Cap allowing other characters to damage enemies beyond 9999.
• Lonely At the Top: In the Conquest Ending. By the end, she has killed all the other goddesses and united the world under her rule, and those of her friends who are still alive leave her after Arfoire is defeated.

Nepgear: "This is the dark path that I've chosen to walk alone."

• Mix-and-Match Weapon: As Purple Sister, she wields a rifle with a sword attached to it.
• Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: In the Conquest End, she thinks of using the demonic sword to vanquish Arfoire, and ends up becoming the only goddess left in the entire world. Unfortunately the world is then headed towards destruction for if there is no competition, there can be no progress. CFW Arfoire even outright tells that to Nepgear.
• Otaku: Of machines.
• Shout-Out: Most of her skill is based on Temjin's weapons.
• Sibling Yin-Yang: While Purple Heart has a black dominant costume, Purple Sister has a white dominant costume.
• Stripperific: Her powered up costume.
• Took a Level In Badass: Starts off as meek, shy, and timid unlike her older sister. By the end of the game, she becomes the next goddess of Planeptune.
• Villain Protagonist: Becomes one in the Conquest End.
• Wave Motion Gun: Her Beam Rifle as Nepgear and the Inafune Beam.
• What the Hell, Hero?: Gets called out by other people on her actions in the Conquest End.
• White-Haired Pretty Girl: If you let her wear the Joshikousei costume.

Uni/Black Sister(mk2/Rebirth 1/2 appearance)

• BFG: Her weapon of choice.
  • Small Girl, Big Gun
  • Some of her guns imply that she's actually just making them look larger than they really are.
• Bare Your Midriff: In her power up Black Sister version.
• Boring but Practical: Charley Horse! does no damage nor does it help guard break, but it will lower even a boss's avoidance so someone else can actually start doing damage.
• Breast Expansion: Inverted. Turning into Black Sister causes her to flatten, and this actually gets brought up by Nepgear at one point.
• Camera Abuse: One of her skills kicks the camera and shuts it off. It's used to lower the accuracy of enemies.
• Expy: Of Noire

• Love Confession: In her character info quotes, and surprisingly short and simple.

General Maker Tropes

• Moe Anthropomorphism: Of video game producers.
• Overshadowed by Awesome: In most settings these characters would be considered fairly powerful. Only problem is they're working with a bunch of Physical Gods.
  • This trope can be zigzagged in the second game and remake, where you have to rely on the Maker characters to do most of the fighting for a majority of the game, since over half the CPUs can be recruited at much lower levels, and if you go for the Conquest ending, they can pull off a dark twist on Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu? by helping to kill most of the CPUs.

IF

Voiced by: Kana Ueda (Japanese), Kate Higgins (English)

• Affectionate Nickname: Commonly referred to as Iffy or Ai-chan, depending on game region. She even endorses these nicknames, being less awkward to say than her actual name.
• Badass Longcoat: IF wears one.
• Bifurcated Weapon: IF's weapon looks like some Wolverine Claws with guns attached to it. It's also the only way she shoots at enemies.
• Chick Magnet: With all of the Les Yay in the game, it's somewhat surprising that a lot more of it involves her than Neptune. Unless the character in question is Vert or 5pb she's not amused by this.
• Clingy Jealous Girl: Comes up both in Chirper events and her character info page quotes.

"I won't give Compa to anyone!.... Sh-She's my best friend."

• Combination Attack: Aside from Nepgear, she also gets one with Compa. It looks like Weiss and Janus' Hazard Strike on crack.
• Deadpan Snarker: This is about a third of IF's dialogue due to feeling like the Only Sane Woman compared to her teammates.
• Defrosting Ice Queen: Is outwardly cold to Neptune and Compa upon first meeting them, but gradually warms up to them as the game goes on. This is even reflected in her S-Rank quotes.

IF (early in the game): As expected. Not worth celebrating, but... nice. IF (towards the end of the game): No way... am I dreaming? Awesome, we're so awesome! Yay!

• Fan Girl: IF states that she is a fangirl of 5pb.
• Impractically Fancy Outfit: Her sleeves are a bit too long and get in the way of the built in guns to her Qatars and Claws. She may point this out, or scold you for just not noticing this problem, while using gun attacks.
  • Downplayed in the remakes, where it's stated she prefers to buy her coats oversized to hide her bladed weapons, though the outfits still look fancy yet ill fitting in animations.
• In-Series Nickname: Iffy. Ai-chan (As in the "I" in IF) in Japan. Not exactly happy with it.
• Jack of All Stats: More so than Neptune as she also brings in a decent amount of healing capabilities.
• Knowledge Broker: Her excessive supply of cell phones is not just for show, they're used to keep in contact with The Guild across all four worlds.
• The Lancer
• Not So Stoic: While she'll try to keep things serious, she'll go into a Heroic BSOD over her phones breaking or start blatantly Breaking the Fourth Wall when pushed too far.
• Pay Evil Unto Evil: In mkII the Guild's primary activities are, as Nepgear quickly points out, "pretty wicked". It's okay though, because lately they've chosen to target criminal syndicates instead.

Nepgear: That reminds me, I wanted to ask what your organization actually...does. IF: Espionage, generally. Acquire confidential intelligence from other nations, spread misinformation to stir up politicians, or sometimes... Nepgear: That all sounds pretty wicked. IF: Don't get the wrong idea. We've only handled criminal syndicates lately.

• Supporting Leader: Right from the start she points out that it's actually Neptune joining her. She's the one with all the connections and she's the one that figures things out, but she tends to let Neptune and Compa stay in the spotlight. Though the DLC quests for new characters focus quite a bit on her, Neptune and Compa receive a passing mention at best.
• Straight Woman: In one of the Chirper events, Neptune tells her that she can "take the role of the straight-faced punchline chick."
  • Amusingly inverted if you check out the comments on her special attacks, which reveal they were all dreamed up after what must have been a Dungeons and Dragons game session.
• Team Dad
• Too Many Belts: IF's design looks like she has a ton of belts on her clothes.
  • And neck collars for everyone!
  • She's only got two, three if you count the collar. One for her pants and one on her coat to hold her nine cellphones. Admittedly, the cuffs of her coat do look a bit like belts, but they're not.
• Transparent Closet: After Compa's Chick Magnet moment, Nisa calls attention to this, claiming that the closet door just opened. Nepgear is the only one that seemed surprised, everyone else just finds it completely adorable and immediately shift to topic to wedding plans while she repeatedly insists she meant to say something else.
  • She becomes incredibly irritated and depressed, to the point of running off, when Nepgear asks Compa who she likes more, Neptune or IF.
  • There is so much lesbianism in the series IF's refusal to be honest about her own becomes a Running Gag.
• Tsundere: Type A. This is pointed out by name.

Compa

Voiced by: Kanako Sakai (Japanese), Cristina Valenzuela (English)

• Armor-Piercing Slap: Compa delivers one as one of her normal attacks.
• Badass
  • Deadly Doctor: She discusses with Nepgear how to use her syringe as a weapon. Nepgear is understandably worried.

Compa: "Besides, syringes are easy to use. You can whack, thrust, or inject something into your opponent." Nepgear: "I wouldn't want to get a shot from the same needle after you stuck it into a nasty monster." Compa: "I won't inoculate you. This medicine is just for bad people. If you give them a dose of this or even a puff of air, it's very effective at shutting them up for good." Nepgear: "Th-That was a completely inappropriate comment to make as a nurse!"

• The Chick
• Combat Medic: Unfortunately she's also a Glass Cannon and will be among the first to die in boss fights. If IF isn't around, or alive, to pick her back up expect a Total Party Kill to follow soon after.
• Chick Magnet: Almost all of the party declares that they'd love to have her as a wife after they find out she's the only one among them that can cook. This actually causes IF to snap, leading to a moment of Stunned Silence.

IF: "S-Stop this stupid debate, everyone! Can't you see that Compa's all mine!?" Nepgear, Nisa, Gust, 5pb: "..." IF: "Tch, crap! N-No! What I meant to say was..."

• The Ditz: Compa gets rather spacey at times.
• Dojikko: Compa always seems to fall down whenever she is shown after a battle all the time. We do get to see a Panty Shot every single time.
• Girly Run
• Kill Sat: Her most powerful skill only obtainable via DLC.
• Improbable Weapon User: Giant Syringes that double as guns.

Compa: "Thiswill hurt!"

• Moe: Called such by IF in one of the cutscenes.
• Panty Shot: Compa has one as part of her victory "pose".

Gust

Voiced by: Natsuko Kuwatani (Japanese), Cassandra Lee (English)

• Beware the Nice Ones: Will secretly take advantage of people trying to do so to her, while setting up legal ownership of concepts and items so that even if they catch on, she can sue them into oblivion if they try anything. Blackmails Vert about staying silent on her "Kichiku Megane Harlem Set for Virgins", especially to keep that info from IF as Vert fears that she would become incredibly disappointed with her. She also sells Vert a voucher to play an MMO for free, for 10,000 Credits.
• Expressive Accessory: Her hat sometimes matches her expressions.
• Game Breaking Bug: Her revival skills have been known to not work right and just heal her, considerably lowering her use in battle.
• Hulk Speak: Unlike the first game, she's from a foreign country in this continuity, and Nepgear notes her "accent". This is actually downplayed compared to the first game.
• Optional Party Member: Both Nisa and Gust are, and with some DLC, they can become playable as well. Later on, 5pb and RED are also be playable.
• Simple Staff
• The Smart Girl
• Third Person Person: At times.
• Token Evil Teammate
• Verbal Tic: In the Japanese version of the game, Gust's desu-no. Where have I heard this before, considering who voiced Gust?
• What the Hell, Hero?: She steals and sells some of the Sisters' things. When they catch her and start to chew her out over it, she distracts them by bringing up who's selling for how much so they'll fight over who's more popular so she can escape.

Nisa/Nippon Ichi

Voiced by: Kaori Mizuhashi (Japanese), Michelle Ruff (English)

• A-Cup Angst: Her Berserk Button is someone pointing out her flat chest.
• Absolute Cleavage: Nisa dresses like this. Sans the cleavage.
• Actor Allusion: Nepgear's entire dream sequence where Nippon Ichi fights off against monsters with Nepgear and Uni cheering her on. Nippon Ichi then feels that her body is becoming a lot lighter, but gets chewed on by a random monster.
  • Kaori Mizuhashi is pretty much the best person qualified to voice a character based on Nippon Ichi, considering the fact that she has voiced a main character in almost every single Nippon Ichi game and is practically an unofficial mascot for the company anyway.
